Stumbled upon this guy at around 48,64, just south of Amphitheater. Hits fairly hard, around 1400 on plate, but only had around 40k hp. Took down as a 75 Blood DK, other specs shouldn't have a hard time with it.

Edit: ran into him again after looking for another rare Griegen, and want to add that I found him this time just south of Griegen which is definitely a hike from where he was the first time, so he has one hell of a pat route.

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to check snares on him, so If anyone has any info on that to share.

Dropped for me pretty much the same as the other rares, random blue and a bag containing 23g and 20 Frostweave Cloth.

Managed to solo as a 75 feral druid in my 'tanking gear'. I used Frenzied Regen once I hit ~40% just to be on the safe side but I don't think I really needed it.

As with all LK rare spawns he dropped an Abandonned Adventurer's Satchel and a blue BoE item (in my case Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Soldier)

My advice is, if you see him, give him a go! As Tyrone stated he has low HP and can be burnt down pretty quick.
Unfortunately I don't know if he is stunnable/rootable as my bash missed =/

He hits like a truck, was hitting me for over 2k a hit and he hits often. The polymorphing doesn't help either. I could only get him to about 75% and then he roflpwns me. Not as easy as people make it sound.

I just killed him today as a 80 Retribution Paladin. He does hit pretty hard, and I can confirm that he is stunnable.

He dropped Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Soldier as well as the usual bag. I gave the bag to the level 73 Druid who pointed out his location, but he told me it contained 23g and 20 frostweave cloth.

Stumbled upon him and got 23 gold, 5 crystallized air/shadow 20 frostweave and legplate of the squire (Which I'm gonna put on the AH for about 400 gold)

Also got a nifty achievement.

instacasts a ridiculous spell called "whammy" which you can't trinket out of making him unkiteable. "whammy" is the most BS spell I've ever seen a mob cast in this game

Soloed him a few days back as an 80 prot warrior. Can confirm that he hits hard, I burned a few cooldowns to ensure that I would survive the encounter.

I found him patrolling a short distance to the southeast of the main Argent Crusade camp. Not sure how far he moves on this patrol route as I ran to engage him as soon as I realized he was a rare.

That rare hits kinda hard on leather (2000-2500) but has a very slow attack speed.
Kidney Shot lands. He is immune to daze effects which can cause kiting problems for some classes.
Also he has a reduced armor attack.

Found this guy while walkin outside Drak'tharon as my group was lookin for a healer. Has just over 45k health. As 80 hunter took him down handidly by myself. Sent gorilla in and downed him. Dropped roughly 20 gold, blue plate pants, a sky sapphire and some eternals.

tried to solo as an 80 frost mage and failed. he's inmune to frostnova, frostbite, snares and hits like a truck. I burned all of my cooldowns and managed to leave him with about 1k health before he killed me.

I got a friend to help me and finally killed him but its very hard to solo as a mage.

He has three pathing areas from what I can tell:
1) the road going from the Jintha'kalar Passage past the north entrance to Drak'tharon Keep and north until the broken road near Light's Breach
2) from the Drak'atal Passage into Zul'drak to The Argent Stand, and then the same path north to the Argent camp at the Altar of Sseratus
3) The area immediately in front of the arena (the brown area on your map)

I've seen maps on other WoW database sites (cough, WoWdb) that have kill/corpse locations at various points to the sides of each pathing road he uses. These are most likely from people kiting him or pulling him off his pat route, so don't break yourself trying to pop your macro at all those spots. This mob sticks to the path he's on, goes back and forth and doesn't wander.

This applies to many rare mobs. If you see the maps here or on other sites will sightings or kills all over the place, trust that it's from player intervention, not the mob's path.

Solo'd as 74 blood, found right outside argent stand for me. Auctioneer shows the pants dropped go for ~140 on my server.

And got 50k xp (rested) for the kill. :)

I found him on my 76 death knight as i was walking around. He droped me way to fast (Unholy spec) only got him to 1/2 health. Got on my 80 druid poped my trees and just wrath/healing touch (with healing touch glyph) to down him. Droped the pants and the bag. (Bag had stack of cloth and 22g).

Found this guy pathing north/south within sight of the north side of the Argent Stand. I'd found two other rare-elites in Northrend and both were very straightforward kills, so I jumped right in. Thought things were going well but then he smashed my felguard into the ground and did me likewise.

I teamed up with a shammy who chewed through his HP nice and steady while I kept my pet alive. He dropped plate Champion pants.

His DPS is spiky and he randomly frogs you, both of which throw huge monkey-wrenches into the tempo of the fight. Solo'ing him seems like a real pain but if you can duo him, just burn him down and collect blues.

I've run into this guy twice now, once on my mage and once on my lock.

He's immune to curse of exhaustion, frost nova and the snare from frostbolt. He doesn't run faster than normal running speed but his whammy ability makes kiting him tricky.

After soloing alot of things on my prot warrior, this guy proved impossible at lvl 79. Why? because he frogged the living *!@# out of me. What the heck am I supposed to do when he he hexes me every 4 seconds which hits me for 2.5k and then leaves me unable to block/parry/dodge and apparently also removes my armor.

Found him at 50,83, tryed to solo him and died when he was with less than 1k hp... then i healed, used a scroll and tryed again, he was about to kill me when a guy came, invited and killed him pretty hard since he was hitting 900 on my 74 blood dk(tank lol)... dropped the same thing as everyone, but it was
Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Beast(49 str 49 agility and 74 stam) the sack had 20g and 20 frostweave cloth, epic fight soloing him.

Found him while flying on to zul'drak. 28,82 he droped the pants and the case. Case had 15g and 20 frost cloth. He was I could stun him as a 75 hunter. Had help from 68 rouge too. Prob solo able.

Make sure you tap this guy as soon as you find him. I've killed him 3 times and each time alliance were sitting around nearby, trying to form a group.

One of the times a pally named "effortless" tanked him for me after I tapped him, thx Ace!

Saw him at 29, 77, walking down the path at 5:25am.
Does a Hex, Whammy and Stomp.

Should be fairly easy as a plate wearer (even easier as a paladin), as a clothie with a few lucky crits he -could- be soloable.... but I want to stress the word LUCKY.

I managed to 2 man him with a 79 priest and 80 FFB mage.

If you're patient, he will talk away from the raptor riders, and you don't even have to deal with them.

Soloed this mob with lvl 73 Blood Death Knight. Consumed Mammoth meal, drank Elixir of Mighty Strength, killed a nearby mob to build runic power, summoned ghoul, used Horn of Winter, drank Indestructible Potion, tagged mob with Mark of Blood, summoned Dancing Rune Weapon then pulled him and wailed on him. He hits very hard, used Vampiric Blood then Rune Tap to replenish HP, wailed some more, Death Pact on ghoul for more HP, used a Runic Healing potion, and thanks to repeated Death Strikes, I was able to drop him just as I was about to get killed. This was one of the best fights I've ever had, second to my battle with lvl 77 Horde DK when I was lvl 71 (came within 1 strike of killing her)

Tried to solo this guy as a Demo lock, gave up after third try. Hit for 2.5-3.5k on cloth and are immune to banish so no way to regain some hp.

I soloed the Sentinel along the path infront of Drak'Tharon as a level 80 Ret Pally. I started the fight without thinking and wasted at least 10 seconds using the wrong action bar. I was almost dead before I noticed my mistake and quickly took a health pot then switched action bars and started laying out some damage. About 5 seonds later I had to bubble and heal. I was out of mana with only 11 Hp when I took him down. He is definitely no pushover.

Found this guy on the road just to the North of the Argent Stand, as a warrior i had to kill him very quickly as im lacking personal heals and i downed him with only 2k hp left :)

I have stumbled upon this elite 3 times (saw his corpse once) out of 5 while leveling my characters through Zul'Drak.

Interesting rare because he doesn't look out of place and blends in with most of the area. Looking at the map above, he spawns in pretty populous areas so that's a reason you won't see him much.

I killed him for the second time, doing the same quest... "Pa'Troll." I chose to do Captain Grondel's task and bam! There he was circling the pools at 1:29am server time.

Fought him on my 78 elemental shaman, using Earth Elemental and healing it.

33 people in the zone at 1:29am. I would consider myself pretty lucky, especially that this quest is a daily. I was debating to bring my 75 druid over from Dragonblight because he doesn't have "Northern Exposure." I bet if I took that chance though, he would be dead before I got there.

I had one hell of a time bringing this guy down on my 77 combat rogue. Took me 2 or 3 tries, and I had to use all my cooldowns and a runic health potion.

I got lucky and found him on my way out of Drak'tharon Keep.
He dropped Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Beast, and about 23 gold.

I can offer you help but you need to help yourself, patience and preparation.

Get an auto rare finder such as silverdragon, esn-rare, npc-scan etc, great for afk camping and hitting on putridus at the least expected place. You need to remember to empty the creature cache in your wow folder to reset found rares, this is most important for tameable rares such as Loque, as if you happen across a tamed Loque, you will not be alerted of the real Loque unless you delete the cache. A macro button which changes to the found rare will come with these addons.
Make target macro/s you can't fit every full northrend rare name onto 1 macro, unless you split it over 2 macro's and insert a link to the 2nd in the 1st. or use shortened versions of the names, since the joining of Gondria (not in achievement list) to the ranks this has become harder, it is possible with the odd none-rare hit now and again depending on which names you shorten and by how much. You may want to use different macros for different zones.

Familiarise youreself with the multiple spawn points and paths of all the mobs and plan a route. The route will become less complex as you knock them off your list.
Look out for advertised maintenance or rolling restarts, be ready to hit the 'Serverstart5' at server restart. Easiest way is to have your toon near King Ping-->Vigdis-->Perobas-->Griegen-->Icehorn. If someone got to Icehorn before you then start at him next time.

If you are travelling for quests or whatever, try to take rare mob's routes.
Be prepared to camp some mobs, auto finders are awesome here.

Most of these rares are easy soloable at least at or near lvl 80. If we take it that you are lvl 80 then the only things to note are,
Zul'Drak Sentinel, can 'hex' constantly.
Putridus, tough solo for none healing classes
Vyragosa, Easy solo for ranged.Not so easy for none ranged.Frost res gear helps for melee classes.
King Krush, Fears alot.
Dirkee, Can avoid the /tar macro until you are sat on him sometimes.?
Most of the information here is in much more detail on the other relevent pages, ie each mob or the achievement pages.

One more thing, searching posts for detailed spawns and paths will reveal alot more than at first look.

Found this guy just right outside the path up to the ampitheatre as I was doing the Troll Patrol daily on my 80 Rogue. He is not immune to stuns. I had 3.8k AP and downed him in a few secs he managed to hit me just once and that hit me for 3000. He dropped a bag with 19 gold, a stack of Frostweave Cloth and some blue tanking legs.

took him down as a lvl 76 unholy dk in blood presence w/ 15,500hp

popped my goul and beat on him for a few seconds. a few death-strikes later I was down to 8k health. popped a healing pot, death pact and finished him off with about 5k hp left. He did over 21k damage to me

had to laugh though because I bought eternal legplates of the soldier 2 days ago off auction.
After killing him he dropped legplates of the beast >.<

Seems this guy in particular has a rather short respawn time. Saw him on my Warrior in ZD East of Argent Stand, so I logged to my 80 Paladin to kill him. Killed him, looted, flew Paladin back to Argent Stand and relogged to my warrior. Went East again to continue questing and ran into a NE DK soloing the same guy. Got his 'Northern Exposure' achievement as well too so I'm positive that it was the same mob. And all this was during a 30 minute time window.

Really strange...these rare mobs don't usually have such a short respawn.

Just a warning to squishies: even at level 80 this guy can hit rather hard on cloth/leather. I wasn't watching my health when killing this guy on my priest and he almost owned me with his polymorph/melee. So just watch your health, and burst him down. Luckily he doesn't have much hp.

Don't try luring him to the guards. Even though they may attack him, he doesn't chase you that far. Basically impossible for a low lvl frost mage.

Killed this guy with my 76 Unholy DK. I almost !@#$ted my pants when I saw him. And because I killed this dude my Troll Patrol quest failed but anyway. Hitted me about 1.4k I used all my cooldowns and ghoul. Went drown pretty easily. Nice new legs for me. My second rare in Northrend

Couldn't solo him as a fairly geared 76 Combat Rogue. I would have been able to do it easy if he didn't use Whammy and hit me for a billion nature damage that I can't dodge. He also turned me into a frog at one point.

I got him down to like 10%, and was on track to killing him before he frogged me.

I was barely able to solo this guy with 75 prot paladin. I had Blessing of Sanctuary, Seal of Wisdom, and judged Light. Used Consecrate a couple of times, and fired Hammer of Righteousness and Shield of Righteousness every time the cooldowns were up. Mana wound up being almost as much as an issue as health was. A lot depends on luck, because if he uses Whammy multiple times, you will get squished. He did that during my first attempt and I was saved only by Argent Defender proccing as I ran away. Second (and successful) attempt, he only used Whammy three times. I still had to use Holy Light twice, popped my Monarch Crab trinket twice, used a healing pot and finally Lay On Hands. As stated above, his normal attack hits hard.

I was rested and he awarded a little over 48K xp, which was just as nice as the plate legs he dropped.

Killed him 9:24 am October 5, 2009 at the 47.4, 63.9 spawn location on the Kul Tiras server (central time). Used his polymorph on me once and made me a frog. 80 hunter though so i threw a spider on him for traps and aggro then downed him pretty easily. Happy hunting.

Just ran into this on my 77 DK while doing the Troll Patrol daily, killed easily as blood spec in frost presence. Dropped the "of the Soldier" pants which were a nice upgrade over what I was wearing and will probably last me until 80.

And I still finished Troll Patrol on time :)

Soloed on my 74 beardruid. Currently with a 0/58/7 build with infected wounds (really helped) with 16,267 health (I forgot to throw on thorns and gift of the wild in my rush to tag him before someone else did) and was completely unbuffed (which almost came back to haunt me)

My specs at the time of the kill:
635-693 damage
2.41 speed
2806 power
129 hit
32.25% crit
16 expertise

17041 armor
368 defense
27.30% dodge

This guy is NOT immune to bash. I hopped into bear form, ran up and faerie fired him, proceeded to get pounded with melee. My total damage taken from him according to recount was 35,031, and 82.9% was from his melee alone, 29,047. Whammy hit me for 3146 the one time I did get hit with it (at about 30% health I bashed him, the regrowth/rejuvenate) and he nailed me with that whammy polymorph at the end when I casted rejuve, I switch to bear form and got out of it. He has 1 more attack called "Stomp" which hit me once for 2838. I used my frenzied regeneration earlier in the fight, and used barkskin each time it was up, mauling and mangle'd each time to keep the infected wounds debuff on him. Demoralizing roar did help, and just a matter of staying alive. I did have to chug a runic pot when he was at 10K health left, and stayed alive after that.

Faerie fire -> Barkskin -> attack rotation -> Frenzied Regen -> Demo roar -> Bash -> Regrowth -> Rejuvenate -> Berserk -> Barkskin when off CD again -> win

I did NOT use enrage, and was saving survival instincts if I needed it, and I didn't after my runic healing pot. I was a hybrid spec, but just went straight bear here recently, and I forgot to change my glyph of claw for something more useful... doing that now.

Decently geared 80 arcane mage on Azgalor. My NPC scan picked him and I found him patting southeast of Argent Stand. I popped icy veins and arcane power. He's immune to slow and ice nova. He whammied (hexed) me twice and pounded me hard. I only got him to 50% before I he got me to about 5%. I went invisible and tried again.

On the next attempt, I didn't go in guns blazing. Instead, I used mirror image and let my clones get aggro on him. He whammied one and took a while killing it. I just nuked him down. Had him dead by the time he was done with the second clone.

He drops blue legs - these were plate and "of the beast" - having Str, Stam and Agi, plus 30 expertise.

found him as an 80 mage on the path heading north east towards The Argent Stand. He hits very hard so try to kite him. He almost took me out and I even had to pop a healing potion. Use your mana shield, mirror image and keep blinking away from him and use shorter spells or instants. Pop your spell cast speed increase/spell power increase abilities. (trinkets, icy veins, berserking, arcane power.) good luck!

Killed him just now on Area 52 near the Amphitheater of Anguish. Hits pretty hard on an Enhancement Shaman. Dropped Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Squire, and the Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel which contained a stack of frostweave, 19 gold, 4 crystallized earth and 4 crystallized shadow.

Tried to solo this guy on my 76 shadow priest, (since I had easily killed other rare NPCs in Northrend on my own), and .. needless to say, it was a terrible idea.

Hopped onto my 80 combat rogue (geared), and it was cake from there. Popped Adrenaline Rush, then finished him off with a Blade Flurry/Killing Spree combo. Killed it so fast that it didn't even have the chance to frog me.

But when I was waiting for my guildie to come and help, this 80 hunter took it down as he know I was keep track of it!

I was doing the amphitheatre quests in zul drak when this guy spawned right next to the arena on the northern corner, he can wander around that structure in all directions it seems in addition to the pins on the map.

It's worth mentioning that he's big compared to all the other mobs in the area. If you're hunting him for Frostbitten and are concerned about how easy he is to see, worry not.

I killed him as a level 85 disc priest with very little effort. Don't have the experience as killing him as a level 70, but I would imagine that he still shouldn't be that hard.

Level 77 mob with 45,516 HP. I found him just south of The Amphitheater, and followed him for a bit. He wasn't following a road this time, but he started to walk towards The Argent Stand. And that's where I killed him at.

He seemed to fear me for about 2 seconds. It was a magic debuff and could be dispelled. And as above posters have said, he is immune to roots, snares, and slows.

Download the addon NPCscan for patrol paths. He is very easy to spot. He's very out of place, and looks like a large Statue that has come to life.

As with many of the other Frostbitten rares, I record videos when I can, and post them on youtube. I'm still in the process of uploading them all (they are taking forever! and slow down my computer so I wait til I go to bed to upload them) But this rare is the one I plan to upload tomorrow. Look up AkaraBWR on youtube for my rare videos. :)

I was in the middle of killing this guy on the road from the Altar to Argent Stand and got him down to 2k as a Feral Kitty spamming healz and stuns then I get ganked by a 85 pally and the mob resets and she kills it >.< My luck.

Found him wondering the road just above Drak'Tharon Keep. Though he's not an elite my 76 Shaman had a hard time killing him, I had do die twice before getting my 85.

Soloed as 75 hunter. Just had pet tank him to half health while I kept healing the pet with bandage/heal. Had poison/black arrow on him the whole time though.

Tried to kill him first as lvl 70 priest but no chance since he frogged me every 10 seconds or so. Went OOM when he was still at like 70%. When I hit 73 I tried agan and this time it was no problem.

Went afk at The Argent Stand, came back to see npc scan went off. So I flew down the path towards Altar of Sseratus, found and killed 3:10pm at 42, 52. US-Burning Blade

my 78 arms warrior tried 3 times to solo him... got murdered everytime... whammy takes 2/3 of my health everytime it hits.. and i dont have anything to dispel 'dazed'... he keeps whammying me while im dazed and ... its over quickly :(

Just soloed as a 74 blood DK. Exceptionally hard. He was walking the road from Argent Stand to SSeratus. He killed me about four times before I got him. Popped trinket (Talisman of the Tundra), death and decay, bone shield, horn of winter, icebound, and cast my diseases. Ran under him back and forth so he couldn't cast--got polymorphed, when I got out, spammed death strike, rune tap, blood tap, dancing rune weapon. amazingly finished fight with like 6000 health. Great fun. Wasn't looking for him, got plate legs that matched my spec and dinged. Times like this make WoW awesome.

I just killed this guy @ 9:59 server on velen right in by argent stand. I only died once and I'm a 75 shadow priest. I dot'ed him up hit shadow fiend and ran in circles haha. Kept shield up of course only got frogged once though hope this helps.

saw him lastnight, was 77 rare/elite and i was 75dk so called for 77dk friend to assist, was easy kill, turned me into a frog once. saw again today and decided to attempt solo, still 75dk, easy kill, 48k xp, same drop both times Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Soldier. i won roll when duod it, so im giving the 2nd pair to the dk that assisted me.

Saw him and took him on without a thought. Figured it would be an easy fight for a lvl 80. Probably would be normally but I almost got myself killed in my efforts to get a screenshot of him. :p
Anyway, he frogged me a couple of times before dropping Abandoned adventurer's satchel which contained 5 shadow crystals, 20 frost cloth and a little over 15 gold. He also dropped Eternal Observer's Legplates of the squire which had big bonuses to stamina, hit rating and strength.

Solo'd him as a 79 hunter.. It was an awkward fight, to say the least. He pats the road that heads north/south to the north of Argent Strand. Dropped Eternal Observer's Legplates of the Beast and Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel
