These guys are great for grinding weapon skills in lieu of the servants of Razelikh.
Heal themselves for 40% of their health every time they go past 50%. They do hit relatively hard though.

And it appears they've been nerfed for skilling weapons on *sigh.*
They still heal but I guess for nowhere near as much, I've tried on 2 mobs and easily out killed their heals.

Can someone else confirm they have been changed, someone who has used them before?

Blizzard really want us to waste our time grinding our weapon skills up don't they.

Still pretty good. I'm leveling swords on them now. The trick is to buy a bad white weapon, not some epic. When I throw on my new epic tanking sword, they die easily. When I throw on a https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=44638 they can more or less heal through my damage. Plus it's very fast. If you look around Dalaran there is a very fast, fairly cheap white version of every weapon type I've looked for. I'm pretty sure they were put in just for leveling weapon skill.

I just found out something cool: I was soloing Slave pens for my DK achievements when i stumbled in Menny the Betrayer. His totems keep him at 100% all the time! So i just rotated Plague Strike > Icy touch > Blood strike > blood strike > death strike and kept myself at 100% too! went from 300 2h mace skill to 400 in no time =)

I hope my sudden discovery helps =)

Its actually Mennu the Betrayer and yes he is a great mob to level up weapon skill at least for Pallys and DKs and other healing class. His healing totems keep him prettty much maxed out the entire time and he hits against plate for about 250 a swing, not too bad at level 80.

As a prot warrior, I could fight these guys all day. Just find a grove walker, kill all hostile enemies near it, switch to the weapon you want to level, then kite him away from where the other mobs will spawn. Keep up demoralizing shout on him, commanding shout on yourself, and when you hit 70% health, used enraged regen. It will take them a LONG time to get you that low; they hit me for around 150-200 in defensive stance.

If you weapon skill is low enough, use thunderclap as well to reduce your incoming damage.

And a final word of warning: they DO run out of mana eventually...so you WILL have to find another grove walker after some time as they will no longer be able to heal.

These mobs are now the best in game for levelling weapon skill, since the Gordok Spirits in Dire Maul have been "fixed" to no longer provide skillups. Even before that, these Grove Walkers were arguably already better since they do not require much travelling or killing to get to.

For paladins, use Seal of Light and some prot gear (or even spec) and you will not lose any health. The mob does die after a while, but it's still a pretty quick way to get the weapon skills.

It hasn't been stated anywhere (is it that obvious?); when it's HP and MP are low run off until it resets.

Great way for warlocks to lvl up wep skills; just pull out the voidwalker and let him take the aggro/beating from these guys! Just have the void walker hit the Grove Walker once or twice everytime suffering is on cd and when you lose aggro. Easy as pie!

As a Shaman it was very easy to level up any weapon on these guys. Stoneskin, Healing Stream, Flametongue, and Windfury Totems helped this go by very easily. In Restoration spec and gear, Healing Stream Totem should be more than enough to mitigate any incoming damage from this guy.

EDIT: It took me about 20 minutes to get from 0 to 400 in 2H Axes using Dalaran Great Axe =)

EDIT: Now 399 to 400 Daggers using Sunreaver Disciple Blade took me 20 minutes at least, huge difference I don't know why =/

With Glyph of Raise Dead and Death Pact I can keep myself alive easy. Its a joke if you're specced into Rune Tap.

If you want to level weapons skills on a mob. Use the lowest dps weapon you can find. Meaning go to a vendor in a starting town and buy something that you want to skill up for example buy a level 1 dagger.

If a mob can heal itself, you will never kill it.

I'm leveling unarmed on these guys. I'm a tankadin, so I just unequiped my weapon, grabbed two, and switch between them whenever the one I'm attacking hots. Got me to 400 in about an hour.

As a paladin i suggest you use seal of light, the heals would likely migrate alot of damage done to you. The seal will last 30 mins. Prot gear is the choice here.
