It seems this npc starts an event every 2 hours. Starts at 27,52 and then heats to Bashir Landing.
The point is to take away the mobs from them and kill them. on the first phase u get non elite mobs and on the second u get elite+non elite+towers. Just went there with a holy pala, me /prot war) and a feral druid.
Managed to keep them away from the mobs but since we had lack of dps npcs start dying cuz of the towers. I wonder what thos gives after completing it.
Anyone knows?

If you save the NPC's you can purchase 4 different flasks that otherwise aren't available.

Run-down of the Aether-Tech Event:

The Aether-Tech Apprentice will tell you when the Skyguard Aether-Tech and escort move out. They will fly between Blades on their way to the Bash'ir Crystalforge. There, the Skyguard Aether-Tech will set up by the Forge, while her escort forms a protective wedge behind her. The Tech's tampering will summon a field of Fleshbeasts.

These fleshbeasts will randomly charge in first singletons, then twins, at the Skyguard Aether-Tech. Eventually, an elite beast that is about three times physically bigger spawns, and will charge the Tech. Kill him, and the unengaged fleshbeasts will despawn. The Tech will now deploy flares to summon a companion; a vendor who helps the Tech at the Forge.

Once the new NPC begins busying itself at the Forge, a new field of fleshbeasts manifests, with the addition of elite Unbound Ethereals. These, too, will randomly charge the Tech. Defend her until the large towers spawn. Kill the towers, and the unengaged mobs will despawn as the Tech deploys more flares for another assistant.

This time, the field will fill with Ethereals, unbound and wrapped. Watch for Bash'ir Controllers; they have Holy Nova and can damage every one of the Tech's escorts at once. Eventually, The Grand Collector will appear and begin summoning the nastiest trash in this fight. If you can manage to hold them back, The Grand Collector will get involved himself, attacking the Tech. Draw the Collector away from the Aether-Tech, and burn him down. Keep an eye on the Tech, though, as new trash will continue to attack her in rapid succession until the Collector dies. Once he dies, the Tech fires off more flares to summon the final vendor.

To speed things up at higher levels, you can freely kill some of the non-charging trash. It seems to want you to kill a certain number of enemies before things progress. Bring a friend; it can get hectic by yourself.

Does she actually take off from somewhere or just appear xx minutes after she is supposed to leave according to the guy at the Skyguard Outpost?

Also, if no quest, can you solo defend her or need a group?

I just tried it. As a 70 mage, I couldn't keep up with the adds solo, because of mana and they came too fast, then I started getting respawns. This is atleast a 2 or 3 person quest. A warlock might be able to fear and solo this.

She leaves every 2 hours, at about 2 till (never see her) and arrives at te camp at exactly 5 mintues after.

What happens is every 2 hours there is a flight of NPC's to the crystalforge in the Bash'ir Landing. You need to protect the Aether Tech. The rest of the NPC's usually die by the second way from cleaves. I did this with 9 people, the first wave is soloable, or near soloable for most 70's, ending in an elite. Always fight far in front of the Aether Tech because of the AoE and cleaves the enimies have.
The next wave is all elite, and partway through, 3 towers, they look like shatt's torches, will spawn. These shoot huge AOE knockback damage bolts out at your raid and damage the fragile NPC you protect. You have to have ranged burn these quick, without aggroing the mobs around it. At this point new elites start spawning, and they come faster and faster, so bring more than 10 if you don't think you have very good DPS, as we were swamped by the elites.
At the end a boss elite spawns that does an arcane explosion spell, and is pretty nast, but would be easy if it werent for the dozens of elites that we had still pounding on us. Our raid wiped, and the boss and most of the mobs despawned, but we lived long enough that the master aether tech spawned and we all got the reward, metas that give attack power or spell damage and 5% stun resist.

S/He is the person u have to keep alive on hte raid so u can go onto the next stage, she is fiddling w/ the crystal forge thing while waves of mobs come.

Is there an actual quest for this?

I got a quest to go talk to a guy to find out when the tech is leaving, waiting around until the timer ran down, and never saw anyone fly off from around there, so I went to the camp, waited around for a bit, then checked here to make sure I was in right spot or whatnot. When I came back from here, loked down and the tech was being attacked by like half a dozen mobs.

Is there an actual quest for this? I beleive she sells potions for the apexis shards, but is that all you get from protecting her?

Just tried this again, this time staying right with the group while they flew from the outpost. 70 Beast Master Hunter, was able to survive all the way to the elite (near the end?) before dying. Of course, the whole group was toast by the time I rezzed.

But, is there an actual quest for this, or is it just one of those things that if you help defend her, you can talk to her afterwards to get "completion" for guarding?

Will keep trying, and post if I find out any more.
