Hearthstone’s latest expansion is The Boomsday Project! Over at Wowhead's sister site
Hearthstone Top Decks
we’ve been covering a ton of different stuff to get you up to speed on the new expansion, launching August 7th, including deck guides. If you love Dr. Boom and Netherstorm in WoW, check this expansion out.
If you haven’t been following along with the game, we’re going into the second expansion of the Year of the Raven. The meta had a big change in the last expansion due to the Standard rotation, and this expansion is looking to continue to change things up.
If you want to get prepared for the launch, we have a
Boomsday Project Survival Guide
that lists all of the launch times and goes into a bit more detail!
What’s New?
With just about every new expansion comes a new keyword, and this one is no different! This time we’re getting the Magnetic mechanic. Cards with this keyword can be attached to other mechs and will combine their stats and other keywords to the minion! This expansion has a ton of mechs, so I expect this will be very powerful in the weeks to come.
Learn more about this mechanic with our
Magnetic Keyword Guide
!
There are also powerful Omega cards that can be played in the early game as vanilla minions, but once you reach 10 mana crystals have a powerful effect that you can utilize.
Omega Medic
will restore 10 health to your hero, while
Omega Mind
gives the spells you play Lifesteal for the turn!
Legendary spells have also been added! Each class gets one powerful spell that can turn the tides of the game. Mage was given
Luna’s Pocket Galaxy
that changes the cost of the minions in your deck to one! While Warlock got
The Soularium
which will draw you three cards for just 1-mana. However, you will discard them at the end of your turn, so be sure to use them!
Last but not least, we have Projects. These cards give a bonus to you and your opponent. The strategy here is to utilize them when you will get the bonus and it could potentially hurt your enemy! The Druid class is getting
Biology Project
, it gains each player two mana crystals! Mage, on the other hand, got
Research Project
which draws each player 2 cards.
Theorycraft Deck Guides
We’ve started putting together a ton of potential decks that could be strong, playable, or will just be fun in The Boomsday Project. With every expansion, Blizzard tends to promote particular archetypes within each class. We’ve looked to put together decks that make the most sense within that structure and have written guides around each one! These are great for trying out in the early meta, if you aren’t much of a deck builder yourself.
These decks will be further refined and the guides will be updated as we learn more about each archetype!

Puzzle Lab
If you are more of a single-player Hearthstone fan, then you’ll be looking forward to the new Puzzle Lab! Instead of the rogue-like Dungeon Run and Monster Hunt, you will be solving puzzles that require you to find lethals, mirror board states, clear boards of minions, and survive the enemies hero power! This will be a pretty big change of pace from the usual PVE content we’ve been experiencing, so be sure to check that out when it comes out on August 21st (two weeks after the launch of the expansion).

Puzzle Lab Guide

Conclusion
That’s all from us at Hearthstone Top Decks! Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you in the game!

Why post this on a wow site?
Because the expansion is themed after a WoW place (Area 52) featuring WoW characters (Dr. Boom). Same reason every other Blizzard site will make a note about the expansion.

Not to mention it pulls exclusively from the Warcraft universe. I'd expect RTS news here as well.

There actually was an article for the prepatch -
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/battle-for-azeroth-pre-patch-wow-8-0-is-now-live/
, Wowhead guides are also linked in class overviews like
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/guides/hearthstone-classes-druid-overview-guide/
Thanks for reminding me to start writing up an article for them for BFA launch!

We are trying to work more of this coverage in, we did some coverage back in February like
https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/news=281944/many-warcraft-3-players-invited-to-offline-event-announcement-soon
and people really liked it.
There should also be a Whitemane announcement/giveaway today as she's a WoW character coming to HOTS.
