Just note that these questions were submitted before the expansion even launched. I can't add links here to cite the source, but its the top comment on the reddit thread from the journalist who helped organise this.
Universal personal loot is a godsend. We should not have direct control over each other’s loot intake beyond assisting each other in the kill itself. The internet isn’t novel enough any more to impose the awe and respect for other players that made early loot council type setups work, and even when that wasn’t the case, loot drama was still debilitating and legendary.“And you know thing about chaos... it’s fair!”

I wouldnt be surprised if they just removed guilds in 9.0 since blizzard doesnt like them. Or convert the game into single player. One of those.
how you actually fix loot. The problem with loot is its constantly pushing you to go higher ilvl instead of wearing loot based on stats. If you are lower ilvl get an upgrade you don't want to use because its actually a downgrade statwise but would like to give to a friend should be your choice. Personal loot is the right choice they just need to let you decide if you wanna give it up or not. If your guild "forces" you to give your loot up loot council you could always keep and it take the consequences. But in reality if you are in that guild you would already have consented to their loot rules. Give the community the ability to choose what they do with their loot. Titanforging and warforging is a simple solution youd think they would catch on to. Add a currency that you get for doing the dungeons and allow it to titanforge/warforge your gear respectively so you are constantly progressing towards a goal, you'd know that even if you never get a titanforge of your best in slot you just have to get the BiS and farm the titanforge token. Dungeon currency that always drop is an amazing mechanic that everyone should love, it ensures even if what you want doesnt drop you still are 1 step closer to getting it eventually.Ofcourse itd probably work best if they made warforge and titanforge a static amount like 10/20 or something to limit the RNG of how good a titanforge it is.oh well doesnt matter blizzard won't do it and someone will probably qoute me with 10 different ways this won't work.
Any Lore question next time please?
Particularly from the last answer, one thing is clear: Ion acknowledges there are tried and tested alternatives that are known to work, but refuses to go back on RNG because "because". It is also poignant how his core idea is flawed from the beginning - he implies that what RNG gives you should not matter as everything you get has similiar value.... and this will NEVER happen. There will always be something that's more valuable, and it's natural to aim for that and feel disappointed with anything else. The natural counter to that is ubiquity. But no, Blizz will NEVER go back to player choice, because MUH RNG.
Heck YES to a possible Greek inspiration to the game. I have wanted this forever! I am also part Greek and one of the first guilds I joined many years ago was a Greek guild. :) (Panthen on Anachronos EU during BC, fun times!)
