"This ability, which I will call dragon flight"It's called Soar, according to the presentations.
I always thought the blue was arcane?
Whatever it is, I hope it's fast paced, easy to learn, and rewarding to master. Like DH was when it came out.
Why is this post tagged as "BETA", if the Preservation "firsts impressions" post is tagged "LIVE"?
In the interview with mrgm and brian hollinka the resource they used was called "essence" as well as the wing buffet was a racial for dracthyr itself along with a tail sweep. He also mentioned how the evoker will be able to fly up and cast spells for a short time while moving (soar i believe was the name he gave it). Also for weapons they said same weapons as shaman except swords instead of shields, so this would include daggers, but they also said that it was subject to change.
Their Ressource is called "Essence" by the by, for details you missed you might wanna check the interview with Brian Holinka.
Evoker class seems more and more like a class that people are either going to be really good at, or suck a whole lot at. There will be very little middle ground due to what seems like it being the most complex class to play to date.
I feel like the research... or lack thereof is half assed. I will call dragon flight... its called soar first of all. They use essence... like did they watch any of the videos?
I believe there was an ability mentioned in the interview with brian hollinka as well called disintegrate which is most likely the channeled blue beam, but that is unconfirmed i believe.
You missed a lot of facts revealed in the Brian Holinka interview with MrGM.The ability that lets you fly and cast while moving is called Soar.Participants in the internal playtests really love it and always call for "more Soar!"Wing Buffet is a Racial ability, not a spell. Dracthyr also have a second Racial ability called Tail Swipe, which knocks an enemy into the air.
"...a dream come true.." I think the same way, I hope blizzard gets it right in this class.
It is incredible how much info you (and the comunity) was able to gether. I'll play a Dracthyr day one, for shure!
All the effort required to play this class just to get dominated by warlocks and mages 2 button rotations. Hard pass. Please balance the existing classes.
I'm so impatient to give this class a go, looking like it may be my new main if they don't $%^& it up
As a long time Mage player myself I am actually a little concerned by what I am seeing rather than being “cautiously optimistic.” Namely from the fact that virtually all of the abilities that were showcased so far are essential better and more updated versions of staple and iconic Mage spells like, fireball, dragon breath, and ray of frost. Now admittedly it makes sense at least thematically for Evokers to have access to these abilities and more but I am just worried that Mages, which have for several expansions now been plagued by a whole host of issues mostly concerning the fact that their toolkits are outdated and in sore need of an overhaul (specially Frost and Arcane), will fall by the wayside. In short, I am worried that Evokers will do to Mages what Demon Hunters did to Rogues and Warlocks and that instead of updating older core classes they’re just throwing in the towel and focusing on new ones. I really, really hope I am proven wrong but any joy I might feel for the new class with be severely dampened if my favorite class, namely Mage and specifically Arcane, doesn’t get the much needed and deserved attention it will need to not feel terrible in 10.0 like it did in SL and BfA before that.
