World of Warcraft 9.2: Eternity's End 2022 FX Reel from Justin Peterson on Vimeo.
Wtf, so it's thanks to this dude that mythic Halondrus bomb is so damn hard. KEKW
Ah so this is the person I can direct all my aggression towards when I don’t see the mechanics on the ground under the massive piles of wild spirits, etc
Yeah, these effects this expansion have been fantastic, but I don't know if it was just the narrative design being too strong or whatever, but I've had more visual clarity issues in SL than any before. Too many samey effects going off and everything feels like it had 30 minor mechanics to watch out for that were all the same colour themes. And as cool as the first ones effects are, The first ones themselves felt weird and forced with no breadcrumbs in the 20 years prior so nobody cares about them. As far as NPCs go, it's really frustrating most of the content boiled down to "this is the red laser dungeon" "this is the white laser raid". Also, I'll just say it, The weapon enchant transmogs this expansion were very lackluster. Now for the positives, I think most of the covenant effects nailed it (the weapon enchant transmogs aside), It's cool to see the different "armies" within the playerbase. The particle effects in the open world and doodads on the map are great. I think a lot of these effects would make great glyphs, EG arcane blast as the generic kyrian bolt or shadowbolt look like the generic venthyr bolt spells. Lots of great assets that can be carried forward.
Weird flex but okay.... I mean this engine is 20 years old....
These are all amazing. The covenant spells are by far some of the coolest VFX to come out of this game (even if I die to frontals 50% of the time when im booning)
You can feel the love put into these effects. The domination magic and venthyr ones are especially spicy
Yes yes we know VFX and modeling/texture works were over the top the last years. Now get the other 100 parts of the game to a decent level too, like story telling, endgame, mechanics, real content, permanent expansion features....
The VFX in Shadowlands have been amazing. I can't wait to see what they do for Dragonflight
