Always loved the Blood Troll aesthetics; not surprised to see that some of ZM is done by the same talented artist.
Excellent work all around. I can't say I love ZM for it's, well, lack of anything recognizably "warcraft", but it's certainly beautiful. On the other hand, the Blood Trolls seemed a perfect fit in the universe to me. I'm struck by the thought that I'd like to see where he'd take Ethereal stuff, I think his style could effectively bridge the gap between them and the brokers whenever Blizz is ready to do that.
ZM feels like playing another game, can't relate it to anything in WoW. It does look great, good job. In the future when Blizz decide to make a zone where you can't fly, there is nothing more frustrating for me in the game that getting my character stuck in a branch or little stupid texture, it might not be the art's team job but man Korthia and the Maw is the perfect example "not like this" .
This concept art for Zereth Mortis looks amazing, but it looks nothing like what was implemented in-game. I get the impression that they had much more planned for Zereth Mortis, with unique and unexpected physics, but the implementation is far too "dead" and the only player-interaction is walking on water.
Great article, breathtaking art! Thanks for sharing some of Gabriel's work.
Incredible artwork, great artist !
