Damage control!
Hopefully they won't be fired when the company makes a record quarter/year :D
Totally, 100%, timed to try to serve the union-busting goals. But it’s actually evidence in support of the need to unionize. Without the pressure of collective action, none of the workers would benefit. And you can count on these “gains” being whittled away, or rolled back completely, if the union pressure ever lets up.
Amazing what the threat of further unionization can do.
it's basically like announcing you're going to stop beating your wife. Thanks for doing the thing that decent people would have done from the start so we could praise you for it.
I swear to god they lose sleep at night at the thought of a Union in that company. Their executives curl up every night in bed and weep at the idea of employees being treated like human beings and not "human capital" (yes they have literally referred to them as this many times before. The terror of unionization in the games industry is a crazy thing.
a company that is as profitable as AVB was giving sub $20?wow.
HUGE W!
I mean it's a bit crazy to think that it took the big lawsuit becoming public knowledge for the higher-ops at Activision-Blizzard to go "we need to do some tangible good PR moves!".Things like this could've happened years ago. Now, whatever they do, it will look like damage-control.
Now, let's see all the Blizz employees show their solidarity by flat out turning down the permanent positions and raises.
If this means Blizzard can have in house testing for WoW that would be amazing. I hate all of the future content being spoiled on the beta and PTR. Its impossible to avoid finding out things, even if I try my best... people blab about it on purpose to spoil it for others
Lets keep in mind QA is more like bug fixing etc. Them getting paid more might give us a more polished product but it doesnt mean it will fix flawed game design concepts from higher up the chain. It might lead to a little more paying attention to community feed back but more likely than not it will just mean less bugs for patches and releases not exactly better content itself. But considering when I told my friend in CA that i made 18 an hour he laughed at me... 12 must have been terrible so 20 for CA while definitely a huge change for them still isnt a good wage apparently for the region.
Well, if they are good at their jobs, then great...Even so, they should propably check to see if these people are good enough to hire full-time, as that would be in the best interest for the company, and the playerbase.
Unpopular position, but some people's work is worth far less than 20$, while others deserve to be paid a lot more. The problem is that we don't have a system that encourages actually paying what worth is actually being provided by people.I've gotten into quite a few arguments over this, having worked with people who did about 10% of the work that I did, yet were paid the same.Honestly, I think HR & middle-management are paid enough to do something about a situation such as this, but it seems like it's always blanket solutions. It's annoying.
