Again, Shift+V to bring up nameplates of friendly NPCs can be very helpful here, although there are many green nameplates, you can easily spot those with little HP.

(Note however that only s are valid targets, the ones lying on the ground, wounded s, the fighting ones, do not)

They spawn standing up, and take some time before they fall down (and are not valid targets until they do).

As an atonement specced disc priest, you can just keep fighting beside them for your other quests, and your atonements will take care of the rest.

This is one of the daily quests in Molten Front.

I found out that if you heal them (With a healing spell), they will be saved too. It safes you some time from applying that Enchanted Salve and you can do it from a range now and be faster than the other people easily =P

The best way I found is to make a macro--

/Target Fallen Hyjal Defender
/Cast Enchanted Salve
This way, you can just run around the little hills (because they always spawn near the little hills) and spam that. You'll beat most of the other players out and get done relatively fast.

Also note that they spawn after there is a little battle between elemental and druids. You'll see them fighting on top of spawn points so try to be near those when casting the macro.

For classes without healing spells, target them before they fall over and click on the salve as fast as you can untill they fall over. If done correctly, you'll untarget them when they fall over but cast the salve on them anyway.

The easiest way to do this quest is to be in this spot in Ashen Fields.

Stand in this spot and 2 wounded hyjal defenders will be continuously spawning within only seconds of each other. You don't have to have a macro to target these guys either. Just click on them once and spam your salve as fast as possible. They will spawn standing up, drop to the ground, you will lose target but your salve will still be casting.

Here are a few important poits, ESPECIALLY when the place is packed with players, with nobody grouping up and every player for himself! (or called "ninja-ing" by the guy who is a tad too slow!)

First, if you are a healing class, then forget the salve. Just use your instant mini-heal that you can cast while moving. It is a heck of a lot longer distance (I have done it across the field) than the tiny gap that the salve requires. Also, most instant class heals are better because, well, they are INSTANT. The casting of the salve requires that you stop moving, and then there is still a delay. For non-healing classes, bandages also have a better distance. I'm not sure what minimum bandage is needed foor there to be enough heal. Those who need to, experiment. (I'd hate to waste a lod of embersilk on this quest).

Second, I keep a "V" enabled so that I can see the health bars over everyones head. If I see a green one with hardly any health, I click on it and pop a RENEW (priest) or lifebloom (druid).

Forget about finding that perfect spot. These guys are getting wounded all over the place and players are scrambling to get this quest done. I typically just run in a circle while trying to kill what I need to and when I come across one just falling to the ground or see a low green bar, I pop a heal from my cast bar and keep on moving.

I have tried the spamming macro of "/tar wounded", but the problem is that it will often select one who has been healed, is running away, and is farther away than the one you need. Personally, I think it's a bug to target something farther than the guy right next to you, but there isn't much to do about it, and spamming it won't cause it to tab over to the next "wounded". I do spam it myself while running about in case it can catch something faster than me seeing a green health bar in time.

Finally, if you get frustrated, just wait a couple of minutes. Chances are is that 2-4 people are very fast and good at this, more than you, and they will get their 8 guys and go. Because once you heal 8, you can't heal anymore (ok, you can cast a heal, and you will see the buff on the wounded, but it won't do anything). And then maybe you might be faster than the next group who came in behind you.

Stupid thing to note, but as a BM Hunter I decided to try my pet's Spirit Mend on one of the quest mobs, curious to see if it would work like a regular healing spell...

... well, that wounded elf got up, dusted himself off, thanked *my pet* by name and ran off, leaving me with no credit.

So don't bother trying to heal with a Spirit Beast... you won't get credit, your pet will! And all it'll do is waste a perfectly good quest mob spawn...... gotta admit it's a tad funny to watch, though.

Here is a way to not have to worry about those stupid Ninja healers while you have a spot staked out. As soon as the wounded Hyjal defender appears, use any type of bandage on them. This has the same effect as the hots (heal over time spell) the ninja's are using. Hehehe, it really annoys the ninja's when a plain old dps mage or rogue stops them from taking your heal target.
And I tested it out, any bandage will work, even the lowest level linen cloth bandage (heals for 66 hit pts over 6 seconds)
But make sure you use it before the defender falls down,

The first npc to say that to me was a male tauren.

Tauren are serious about repaying their debts. You're going to show up at his tent, he'll have both arms and a leg in plaster casts, and there will be small pile of steaks waiting for you to take home.

You don't actually have to heal them with the potion you get given. I was undergoing some damage on my paladin and i popped my Holy Radiance, and 3 of them got up and thanked me. That DID contribute to the quest aswell.

So for the paladins out there, just pop HR and leg it through the the inferno.

On my paly i doo holly radiance, mount up on my horse and run around and get the quest done in 5 sec LoL
