I am having a lot of problems finishing this quest. The eggs do not explode. Is there a mechanic that I am not familiar with? tried fighting and tried laying the eggs in front of the eel.

Update:
Finally figured this one out. The eggs have to be laid down at the southern end of the trench. The eels there will stop swimming long enough for the egg to explode.

Do this in the southern part of the trench.

You will need to fight the Eel too, which has 223k health. The bomb reduces it to about 125k or so.

This is easy. Southern end seems to be better, but just drop an eggsplosive and back up. when it goes off, don't attack the eel, just target it. When the 20 second timer finishes, swim up to the eel and drop another egg.

eel should now have about 25k hp and can be smashed by any clothy with 3k+ spell damage

After 3 bombs, it still had 189k HP. What the bombs do is debuff the Eels with Eel-splosion which weakens them, they were hitting me (paladin) for around 3.5k and I wasted it pretty fast.

Definitely hit them in the southern portion of the trench, but be careful which ones you decide to target. Watch their paths for a few minutes to see where they go, drop the bomb and then try to kite them off to the side away from the path other eels may take. One bomb seems to drop it down to 175k health, they heal up much to quick to drop two or three bombs before attacking.

The biggest problem that I had while trying to complete this quest was aggro'ing three or four of these things with AoE from the egg-bomb while trying to use it a second or third time ... and when you have more than one of these things going after you they hit hard and fast.

From the way the quest is worded it sounds the bomb should almost kill the eel. Blizzard should have added that you might need 2-3 players to complete the quest as they have done with other quests.

well they fixed it so the second bomb will not explode so abandon this lemon.
+82 in cloth is bs when they hit you for 15K each hit and you hit them for 1k

Okay, I have gone to the southern end of the trench, dropped the bombs and 90% of the time they do not explode at all. I have tried several different eels and various locations. When it does explode it may hit the eel for 2k to 5k in damage.... I tried to kill it but can't. Its too much HP for me to bring down solo (its not a group quest). I have even opened a ticket, but Bliz canceled it without addressing the issue. I have opened a second ticket on it.... lets see if Bliz can get their act together.

Not sure why my last comment was downrated, I was giving accurate information, people seem to not know what they are doing.

You don't have to drop the bomb more than one time, its not the damage that is helpful, its the debuff it makes them take more damage and do less damage to you.

My experiences were a bit different than some of the other players here.

At first, I was trying to lay the eggs by the eels, and this was not working right for me. However, I was able to get this repeatably working (just to get a method down to tell a real life friend that it wasn't work for).

1) Find one of the spots with a lot of eels. The south end, or the north end but elevated up a bit where there are a lot of eels works best. Then, in the eel area, place an egg. You do not have to place it in the patrol path of the eels.

2) Each time I did it, either a new eel seemed to spawn or one of the eels that was yellow turned red and actually came running at the egg. The egg will explode on this target and weaken them: they will still have a large amount of HP, but they will get a debuff and be weakened to hit about as hard as a normal, non-elite mob after this.

3) Just finish it off like you would a normal high-health quest mob! The only thing important to remember is that you pick one of the main eel "highways" and then the eel will come to you. There is no need to lay several down, and in fact I had mixed results: one time no explosion on the second happened at all, so the second eel kept the same health pool, and one time it actually drew a second eel to me (and STILL didn't reduce the health of the first!). The main point of the egg is to give them the debuff, anyway, so feel free to rely on just the one, and they will hit like a feather after that (about 2k on cloth).

Here's the best way to kill one of these suckers if you're a fresh 80 like myself:

1. Go to the Southern part of the trench.
2. Drop a bomb.
3. Attack the eel that takes the bait.
4. Here's the key. While you're fighting the eel, drop another bomb when the cooldown is up. It'll shave off another 30k damage, and if you're like me, will mean the difference between killing him and dying.

And yes, Blizzard's quest text is very misleading. They made it sound like the eel would be nearly dead after the first bomb, but it only shaves off about 15% of its health.

It also feels like it's another quest balanced around players that were geared coming into the zone. I rolled a worgen on release day and now have her in Vashj'ir. I arrived in the zone with about 14k health/mana (frost mage) and I was fighting mobs with 34k health. I'm not sure why they thought it'd be a good idea to assume every level 80 was going to be geared, but oh well.

Very easy to do no matter what 80+ level you are or what gear you have.

1) Go to south end and drop a bomb. An eel will come, the bomb explodes, eel gets the debuff
2) Commence the killin'
3) When the bomb device cools down, drop another one
4) Finish it off

This is a somewhat easy quest, they nerfed the multiple bombs, least for me. I had to explode three before I could get aggro, when I engaged, eel was at 98% health. I hit all my c/d's and when done, was at 48% and eel was dead, I am a mage.....hit shields and blasted, no kiting, just plain dps. I am in cata greens (tailoring set, lvl 282 gear). Just play to win, much movement could, indeed, cause multiple targets and assured death. Just my opinion.

Had a hard time doing this one. Don´t follow the quest instructions by planting one near a eel. Instead just go the the edge, swim around and randomly drop bombs. One of the eels will turn red and come swimming for it.

Typical Blizzard quest instructions. They're wrong and vague. The bomb does not "almost kill them" and putting the egg near an eel didn't work every time. Also I died because it didn't occur to me that I could use the egg multiple times. An annoying quest in a zone full of boring and tedious quests.

I discovered that if you drop another egg mid-fight you will attract the attention of another eel!

On a sad note, yuu kill the eel, you save the brother and he gets eaten again. Poor guy!

Ok here is what I found that works. Head south ( but I dont think it really matters) and try to single out an eel thats swimming by himself kinda just back and forth in the lower corner, not one of the ones that making a big pass through. So here is the trick. Target that eel. Swim down, but not to the ground at the end of his back and forth path, drop one bomb and swim up right away so you are out of range for combat. He will turn red on your targeting. He will stop over the bomb and it will explode, dropping his hit points some but not a lot. He will now return to swimming his path and be yellow on targeting. He will slowly start to regenerate. Swim back down and drop another bomb and swim back up again out of combat range. This time notice that his HP are just a little bit lower and he has a weaken buff on. He will regenerate again but not back up to full. KEEP REPEATING THIS PROCESS. Eventually he will drop down to about 17000 HP. At this point swim up to him and start attacking and it should be a quick fight even if you are in the lower 80th level range. He hits pretty hard like 2000 HP per hit but you should be able to kill him and have still at least half your HP. The main thing is this method takes a bit of time but at least you wont die. Last thing, DO NOT BOMB HIM WHEN HE IS AT 17000 HP if you do, it will kill the eel and he will cough up the Brother and the dwarf will get swallowed up again and you will have to start the process all over with another eel. Hope that helps :)

I just wish Blizz would make ALL Lvl 82's the same. They seem to think they should all be different. I tried this like 5 times. Sometimes the bombs went off, sometimes not. Sometimes the second bomb went off, sometimes not. Total crap! By the way, the coords I was at were 44, 64. Also, do not get too low or you will get adds from groupers and the other "little green men" down there.

Edit: By the way, I am Lvl 85 Shadow Priest clothed in basic blues and greens from drops only

This quest has some serious bugs making it next to impossible to complete for certain classes.

The first problem is the bomb doesn't take off much health (not even a tenth) so your character is left fighting a near full strength elite. (this behavior doesn't even agree with the quest text that says "If the bomb doesn't kill the eel outright, it should be near enough to death for you to finish it off.")

The second problem is that the eel still hits for large amounts of damage so unless you have a way to avoid its attacks or a method of healing other than potions your character is effectively toast and even then it will be a pain.

Additional note: I just did this quest again in patch 4.3.3 and it is still broken on my realm (Kael'Thas). Thankfully I was going back for the achievements and so was ridiculously overgeared (85s in mostly 377 gear) but for someone doing this at level in standard gear this quest would be a pain.

I tried this quest like six times and died each and every time (83.5 NE Bal. Druid). Waiting for the bomb to cool down and dropping a second doesn't work as it only draws another eel. I'm giving up on this quest till I'm 85 then will try again.

Okay I give up. lol I am a 84 Rogue, I went to the end, put down a bomb, it only dropped a little of his health. Have tried at least 15 times. I tried putting down another bomb and it only attracted another eel. I even kept health potions and bandades ready.

I did this with my level 85 DK-Unholy and pet followed but did not engage. the bomb was set in front of the eel, but took only 19000 XP of the eels heath, did place bomb on him again for another 19000 xp of the eels health. The eels X2, both maintained 195,000 XP, with immediate health up to 225,000 XP, neither eel attacked me. For now, I will drop the quest until such a time that before I finish Vashj'ir questing I will return to see (1.) The Digsong Brothers have built a better Bomb, or (2.) the Eels health has dropped to accept the present Bomb and does as the quest prescribes the take down. Level up!

I am a warrior and this quest is impossible to complete. Dropped bomb explodes as it should, taking no more than 10k of the eel's hp, which means I'm left to fight an elite mob with over 210k hp on my own. He hits for over 3k and I tried everything. I am level 82, I use Death Wish, Recklesness, Battle Shout. Enraged Regeneration, Intimidating Shout to let me use bandages, the best potions available - I try everything my class can do, tried for like 20th now and there's no way I can complete this quest. Dropping a second bomb lures another eel which makes me fight against two mobs, one of which I'll never be able to defeat.

Ok Ive tried to do this quest under the guidance of the comments here, but its not working for me the same way. I either get 2 eels at the same time... or a different eel with each bomb... I'm at the southern end of the trench too.. Ive tried it about 5 times and have died each time.

Ok I worked it out, for those who get different eels each time or who end up fighting 2 eels at one. Try this, I went down the path way at the southern end of the trench heading down to the bottom. All I had to do was make sure that I had one eel above me. I dropped the bomb .. and my treants...3 lots of FF.. and swarm and I was ready to drop another bomb... I had to dose up on some Lifebloom just a little and dropped another bomb. I continued to dps the eel as normal but this way made sure I only had the same eel for each bomb. I hope this helps some of you out.

Get as close as you can to an eel, right click on the egg and the eel will suddenly turn red and move to attack you. It should go near the egg and therefore causing the egg to explode.
If you are at level for this quest: the explosion only takes 100k from the eel so be careful!

This was a difficult one for me as a level 82 rogue. Everytime I planted the egg and it exploded it took the eel down to 99% and could never kill the elite eel.

I ended up laying an egg and going into stealth. The eel would take the blast and then leave. Then I would lay and egg and go into stealth again. The eel comes down and gets a blast, then lay another then into stealth..... as so on until he is down to a level of health I could kill him.

A long way to do it but I was killed atleast 10 times!

You can view both movies on Youtube, just search for 'breakin full' and you should get both films first hit from user PCGamerman37. I've watched 'em both and i love it! I do like the first a bit better tho, the second is more of the same with some useless sidestories but still good.
