Not horde only, picked it up today as Alliance.

As of 1-12-2010 I cannot complete this quest, because nothing happens while examining the chest. Since they moved the chest out of Uldum and inside Tanaris you are able to hand in the quest 'The Secrets of Uldum' but you are not able to do the follow up quest 'What Lies Within'.

I also picked it up as Alliance so it's not Horde only like frozenthorn said.

Collected the Quest and walked into the room. Don't enter to far or you will be teleported out!
Wait for 2 mins and there HE is. Just kill it.... NO reward at all ?

I was able to kill the guardian by repeatedly clicking the chest and examining it until he spawned in the room, had a friend pull him out with a spell and got the kill. :)

You will see the name of the guardian pop for a sec and then vanish, if your friend can't see it after that, you may need to run in, since my friend didn't see the guardian until I ran in to check if we needed to switch places. :b

This quest is still bugged as of this posting.

Chest is still located outside of the ruins, yet nothing happens when you examine the chest or accept the quest.

Tested this several times while dropping quest, logging out, trying again. I'd say the links to the next part of the quest are broken...

Quest worked fine for me today. Mob spawned, easy kill, and turn in at the chest. No problems.
