This Recipe is unlocked when your guild gets the That's A Lot of Bait achievement.

The other recipe that is available via guild achievements are Recipe: Broiled Dragon Feast which isn't as good as this one.

This makes the feast the best available for raids. Seems Blizzard really like us to eat fishies....

(Oh, another recipe that gives the same bonus as this feast but only pr. person is the Fortune Cookie)

For someone in a small guild who was anxious to level cooking and provide feasts, I really hate this. I guess for a couple of weeks I will be able to be competitive in the food market, but as soon as larger guilds get this achievement, I'll be obsolete.

edit: Thanks Ihastail, I didn't realize they were BoP. I don't mind it so much anymore. It might actually help the market for individual foods since non-cooks can't buy feasts.

The feasts are BoP, so there will still be a market for individual foods.

By any chance, does anybody know how it determines what buff you get? Is it random, or does a little pop-up menu come up or something? I'm curious.

So how does this work?
Once the guild gets the achievement every1 currently in the guild gets the recipe and that's it or does it become available for people who join the guild after the achievement is done?

If it's the latter, how can those people who join after the fact ever get the recipe?
If it's the former, does that mean I can just pay a guildmaster to inv me real quick so i can grab the recipe then drop out?

EDIT: Found the answer in another comment thread:
It is available to both current AND future guildies for 150g but you must reach honored rep with the guild.

The reagents are best fished in the following areas:

Highland Guppy - Fished only in the Twilight Highlands. A lot of fish schools there, don't waste your time fishing in open water.
Lavascale Catfish - Best fished in Deathwing's Fall ~, Deepholm. Those can be fished in Uldum's open waters as well, but the drop rate is significantly lower (although you'll catch some Sharptooth and Blackbelly Mudfish).
Fathom Eel - Best fished in Tol Barad Peninsula. A lot of fish schools there.

This is really more of a question...anyone know what they expect us to do with all these left-over Dalaran Cooking Awards? I find it a little frustrating.....and now I am starting to collect too many Cooking Awards since Cat.....they should at least let us buy something with them, don't you think?

Seems really good value to me - because you have to fish from pools for the achieve you just save the many thousands of fish you need to get for the achieve and cook them up all up at the end of it - 7168 fish down only 2832 to go!

A great way to get the fish, if you have a large guild is to hold fishing derbies! We do it every wednesday in my guild, and it really helps keep the banks full.

This recipe is a must for obtain 200 recipes, in order to obtain Iron Chef... unless you are a rogue and you are able to learn Recipe: Thistle Tea. Or you were able to obtain Recipe: Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops...

Note: you have to learn the similar recipe Recipe: Broiled Dragon Feast obtained by the guild achievement Set the Oven to "Cataclysmic".

the tooltip does not really show that you have to be honored rep with ur guild if u're already honored or above rep with ur guild.

i once tried to leave my guild and buy the recipe with the guild that has the achievement. but apparently u start off with neutral standing with the guild, making the tooltip to appear, and making you to be unable to buy the recipe unless u're honored with em.

also, another point to add, u gotta look for this thing in the guild rewards table, it's not for sale from the guild vendors unless the achievement has already been done.

On the Blood Trail in Deepholm at the moment. Getting about one lava scale catfish every minute. Have a fishing skill of 525 with additional skill increase of 120 from pole and fish hook. I have been able to get 30 of them in 30 minutes and after an hour I have 60. So, I am pretty certain the drop rate is 1 every minute. If you fish them this way I recommend finding a spot where the Living Bloods can't reach you so they don't interrupt your fishing and making the time longer.

I fished same place without the fish hooks, making my fishing lvl 525 with an increase of 20 from the pole. I caught a surprising 40 lava scale fish in 30 minutes. I did however catch 4 junk. I think going above this fishing lvl with the hooks allow for no catching of junk but the time taken to place the hook on the pole drags the time down reducing the amount fished up.

After two hours of fishing (one hour with hook and one hour without) I caught:

Lavascale Catfish x140
Sharptooth x126
Albino Cavefsih x53
Volatile Water x12

Junk fished up only without the hook:

Sickly Fish x1
Weeds x3
Tattered Cloth x1

You need to be honoured with your guild.

The descriptive line "in another useful stat" will increase your primary attribute of either Strength, Agility, or Intellect.
