It seems very lackluster of a weapon currently. I have no idea where Blizzard is aiming with this, or they're just waiting for actual release before improving it.... Currently it's worse than anything you can have at level 70, seeing as it's low spellpower and bit higher dps than these pure spellpower weapons (41,5 at 70), it's probably meant to be a tankadin weapon. However, as tankadin, you are scaling better with strength than spellpower. Thus, for singletarget tanking, you just want a "warrior weapon". And for aoetanking... I'd rather use a pure caster weapon with immense spellpower.

Hammer of the Righteous is the new protection paladin talent. It deals weapon damage as holy damage to three targets. Because of that, you want high weapon damage, but you still want spell damage for consecration, holy shield and seal of righteousness.
I think I'll stick to a pure spell damage weapon though...

Yeah, but don't forget AP vs spelldmg isn't as important on this one as the fact that this is an 82.9 dps weapon w/ a 316 top end vs. this guy being a 143.6 dps weapon with a 467 top end.

Very nice mace, I'm definitely getting this as soon as possible. Not only is it great for PvE but it can rival even S5 & 6 Gladiator spellblades in PvP.

Titansteel Guardian vs S5 Hateful Gladiator Spellblade:
-32 Int
-3 Crit Rating
-32 Resilience
+9 Stamina
+82 Spell Power

The loss of resilience is a pain but all stats lost can be replaced by gemming and enchanting. 82 Spellpower + 9 stamina = ~10 lvl 70 Rare gems, 32 resileince = 4 lvl 70 Rare gems, 32 Intellect = 4 lvl 70 Rare gems, 3 crit rating is less than 1/2 gem. Even rounding down The titansteel guardian comes up on top, with 9.5 vs 8.5 gems. Going from S5 -> S6 would gain bonuses equal to around 8.5 gems, which would make it around 7-7.5 gems stronger than this.

Of course if you are looking to maximize your Resilience then the gladiator will be better, or if you really need intellect and need all socket & enchanting slots for resilience or other stats then the S5 comes up on top but you get the picture. In a balanced gear set up the lack of Int & Resilience can be made up for by gemming and enchanting with int or resilience where players using the gladiator piece would go for damage.

EDIT: This mace is getting nerfed, the spell power will no longer be as high so the calculations won't be correct for long. Also they seem to have removed Hateful weapons from the game (or rather they never introduced them live).

Actualy this item lacks int and mp5, so for shamans (PvE) its not that good. Ok, spell power is realy nice on it, so is crit rating, but thats all.

As a resto shami i'd never change in that much int for additional x spell power.

At the current date this is pretty much the best healing weapon in the game for a paladin, aside from the two maces that drops from Kel'Thuzad in Naxxramas. The mace dropping at 10-man Naxx is slightly better than this one, and the 25-man drop is clearly better.

A very worthwhile mace and one of the best things you can spend your money on as a holydin to prepare for raiding.

Apparently this is getting some kind of spell damage nurf in patch 3.0.8. I noticed this in the patch notes on mmo-champion:

- Reduced the spell power on the Titansteel Guardian to bring it in line with its item level.

At this point I'm not sure how much. I hope it's not too much considering a lot of people (including myself) shelled out good cash to craft this puppy. If it's now comparable to other heroic dungeon loot I'm going to be seriously unhappy.

Comparing this with other epic 1-handed weapons of ilvl200, this will be reduced to 408 spellpower, 82 less spellpower.

If this is nerfed from 490 to 408 spellpower then it will become instant vendor trash. Admittedly it is probably a bit over budget but at 408 with no stats other than stamina and a little bit of crit, it is easily replaceable by anything remotely well itemized from Naxx 10 and quite possibly certain blues as well. Blizzard should send everyone who got this weapon crafted 3000g in the mail along with a note apologizing for their mistake.

Having your items nerfed is never fun, but a loss of 33 spellpower is manageable. It's still a very nice mace, and for a fresh 80 who's looking to gear up quickly, it's worth the crafting materials even after the nerf. If your gear is already pretty solid you might want to consider other options unless you're a miner, but it's still the best raw spellpower weapon most people are going to get their hands on in a while.

I would highly recommend to buy the materlials for this item (also for the Titanium Bar. Miners make these, and it has a 20 hour cooldown). On my server the Titansteel Guardian sells for around 3000 G on AH, yet I had it made, and it cost me ca. 1600 G. Great difference. Hope the BS's won't hunt me down...

hey look, looking at it from the weapon level's perspective, the nerf is understandable. what is messed up is they didn't get it right the first time, and now countless people who have spent their time and gold on this weapon are now getting blindsided. i wouldn't give two flying rats if the weapon had come out of beta like this, then atleast i would've actually KNOWN what i was paying for.

Wow I'm drowning in a sea of QQ here since this item has been reportedly fixed. That's right.. fixed, not nerfed. Those of you upset by this change do realize that this had more spellpower on it than all but one of the items that drop from 25-man Naxx, right? This item still has nearly 50 more spell power on it than anything you would find in a Heroic or Regular Naxx.

So calm down and take a deep breath. It was still worth the gold you spent on it. Everything is going to be okay.

If you're still upset then go kill bunnies until you feel better.

How would you say this compares to the (War Mace of Unrequited Love) for PVE healing?

Its has more spell power and more crit (which means more mana-free spells for a holy priest), as well as more stamina. However, I lose mana and MP5.

Any thoughts?

the only reason as a holy paladin i'm hesitant to pick this one up is that i don't have oodles of gold laying around, and that the Grieving Spellblade drops from one of the first bosses in 10-Man Naxx.. which is pugged easily these days. And that is almost equivalent to the Guardian.

Even with the nerf, this is a great TANKING weapon to. Yes I've heard it for weeks now, paladins don't use SP weapons anymore for tanking, well maybe they should. First off dont' tell me that Prot paladins don't need SP anymore, if we didn't, we wouldn't have touched by the light at the bottom of the prot tree. Why is this such a great tanking weapon? Reasoning, all the holy spell damage stuff for prot paladins scale equally with SP as AP, so a lot of Paladins jumped on the warrior bandwagon and started stacking typical warrior stats like STR and all that. STR is great for all shield users, it adds to SBV as well as threat, so its a great paladin stat. Another great thing about STR weapons is you can find them typicall with lots of other good def stats. However, if you're def capped, this weapon has a good bit of stam on it and it has more SP than any weapon has STR. Going by the highest STR I could find on a 1H tanking type weapon,

as well as Def/Parry and Hit.

All great stats for any tank, for prot paladins, the 37 STR should get +6~ STR from the talent in the prot tree. This weapon will also add 23~ spell power from the stamina on it if you have Touched by the Light.

and some crit (that doesn't do much good for tanks)

The 58 stam will give you 19 SP with Touched by the light, so without any an enchants that gives you 476 SP vs the 23 SP/43 STR from Last Laugh. Spell damage scales equally from AP as it does SP, by sacraficing a small bit of mitigation, hit and stam, you gain a HUGE amount of threat. For all the critics out there saying threat isn't a problem now because of the mechanics, talk to a decked out Spriest or Boomkin and then talk about threat, not to mention if you're ever in an OT roll, that extra SP will come in handy for your heals and keeping up with the tank in threat in case you have to take over in the event the MT goes down. Finally, this is far easier to obtain that Last Laugh, (Red Sword of courage is inferior to Last Laugh in every way so it will match up even less to Titansteel) so you can start out tanking heroic Naxx with it (I do, I'm def capped using it and my threat is unmatched) rather than hoping for weeks to get another tank weapon to drop. However, I wouldn't recommend taking other SP gear for threat gen even if you can afford to lose the def stats. SP on other gear tends to be similar to STR on the same item slots, so you wouldn't be gaining any advantage and you'd be losing SBV from the lost STR.

People need to stop whining about this being nerfed. Think about it for a second. The Impossible Dream mace from Naxx-25 has 461 spell power, which is now only 4 more than this mace. I realize that WOTLK is pretty easy, but come on, try to EARN some of your gear.

This item can be attained by any miner who wants to spend maybe an hour a day flying around Sholazar Basin or running around Wintergrasp, gathering mats and then using their titansteel cooldown. It makes no sense that this would be superior to a mace that you has a CHANCE of dropping from a HEROIC 25-man raid with likely MORE than 1 person rolling on it.

As a BoE item that is fairly easily attainable, this thing still has ridiculous spell power and will prep any healer who wants to move on to raid content. It is still very powerful and likely worth every copper you spent on it. Sure it lacks some intellect and mp5, but that's up to your class/spec preferences.

This is a pretty decent pre raiding mace for a pally. If your not gonna raid then this is the mace for you but otherwise there are better things like Infection Repulsar(https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=39281). True you are losing about 49 spell power, 25 stam and 29 crit but what you are gaining is far greater. You Gain 40 haste which can be a big deal, you gain 11 mp5 which is a very important stat for paladins and most importantly you gain 37 intel. Intel for pallies increase crit, mp5, and spell power. Stam isnt really that important as your not tanking anything. The lack in intel really hurts this as far pallies go.

Made this prepatch for my main and an alt. No regrets cause the Spelldam is still massive and the mats to make them were easier pre-patch too!

As a side note The Soulblade https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=39424 from 10 man Naxx is also a viable option if your class can use a dagger and you still need hit (or want to move your hit from other gear), so is Haunting https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=40408 call from 25 man Naxx. If not The Impossible Dream https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=40244 from 25 man Naxx is not impossible to get and a very nice upgrade off this mace.

The lack in intel really hurts this as far pallies go" first, from this it seems as though you are implying that if you aren't tanking then stam isn't important, which is completely false. there are fights where everyone takes dmg like sapphiron or you may get unlucky and an add beats your ass. stam is very important regardless of what class or spec you are in any raid or heroic. second, yes int is very important but you can also itemize your other gear for the int. i still use this mace on my holy pally and i still have 18k mana, 460 haste, 28% holy crit, and over 100 mp5 all unbuffed. imho, crit> haste/ mp5. yes haste and mp5 are important but i would stack crit as it gives 60% of your spell's mana cost back on crit assuming you specced into it. i would work on mp5 second and then haste but eh... anyways, even w/ the lack of other stats, this is an amazing mace for any caster/ healer that can use maces

Post 3.2 pre-raid Holy Paladin weapon comparison.

There are four pre-raid epic weapons for healing paladins.

The first is Titansteel Guardian. Alas, the largest benefit of the TSG is that it is incredibly easy to obtain - it only requires gold. It lacks what is widely recognised as the strongest single stat for holy paladins: int. Following the Illumination nerf (only 30% of the mana cost of a spell restored on a crit instead of 60%), the crit on this mace isn't bad, but perhaps not as useful as some other stats could be.

The second is/are the Champion's Seal bought sword(s) Blade of the Kening Banshee and Gnomeregan Bonechopper. These take all the stats of the Titansteel Guardian, lower them, and in exchange gain intellect (plus hit, but that is mostly useless, so it doesn't really count). Having more mana is almost greatly appreciated by a holy paladin. They are fairly easy to acquire as well, only requiring a few days of specific quests.

Third is War Mace of Unrequited Love. Due to the illumination nerfs, and the 25% buff to mp5, this mace is now very strong for holy paladins. The loss of stamina is not bad, and the very healthy int on this mace is wonderful. However, as a heroic instance drop, it is harder to acquire than either of the Champion's Seal swords, or the TSG.

The fourth pre-raid epic healing weapon blows them all away. Mariel's Sorrow drops in heroic Trial of the Champion, and is about a 10% drop from Eadric's cache, thus probably only a 5% drop per run since Eadric only shows up half the time. Good luck. Granted, if you are successfully healing h-ToC, you probably already have one of the above weapons, but it is technically a pre-raid holy paladin weapon. In short, it combines all the best stats from the other pre-raid epics. Haste would be nice, but haste is basically a stat you gear for on a holy paladin once you have all your other stats in line.

Aoirinn - if I did work for blizzard, I would make minor changes to pvp items, if I knew it could get a page long rant that features the quote -

Dear Blizzard, I am a PAYING player, I spend a lot in gold, but also in euros and if you want me to keep on doing this, you’d better think about the decisions you take and care more about the interests of your players

I mean, that's hilarious, I would change items every patch if I got to read stuff like that. The bitter tears of people who just lost 33 spellpower! Also, people always say they're a paying customer, do they think the other 13 million just play for free through java or something?
