Quests

Inside the Frozen Citadel - Given by a Dark Ranger in Dalaran.
Echoes of Tortured Souls - Simply defeat the two bosses in the dungeon.
Tempering The Blade - Part of Quel'Delar's chain, starting with The Battered Hilt. The Crucible of Souls is located directly past the Devourer of Souls.

Bosses

Bronjahm: Stay either in melee range, or at 20+ yards away from him. At 20% he will use Soulstorm, which will damage everybody standing 15 yards away, and will occasionally fear the tank through the storm. Kill the Shattered Soul Fragments that will spawn throughout the fight.
Devourer of Souls: Healing intensive fight. DPS him hard, and move when he spawns a Mirror of Souls (raid warning and a charge-like mechanic will precede it). He summons an army of souls that will do damage to the entire raid (it may be possible to interrupt it somehow, but normal interrupt mechanics don't work).

Bronjahm-

Bron will cast "Corrupt Soul" on a random party member.
After 4 secs, he spawns something, which will move towards him, healing him pretty much fully.
If u get the fragment on you, move away from the boss.
when he gets to low health - he casts "Soulstorm"
If u are 10 yards from him when he is casting "Soulstorm", you get massive AOE damage.

Devourer of Souls -

He will jump on a random person and create a void zone.
Don't stand in the void zones.
When he casts "Wailing Souls" faces a direction, moves clockwise or anti-clockwise, basically, dont be in front.
Another move he does is "Mirrored Souls", this will be casted on a certain player dealing damage to that person. Do not attack the boss at this time because it will heal him.

For the Devourer of Souls fight, you can run into the hallway to reset it. Helps if you have a squishy healer that gets killed on a pounce.

just finished every wing...great place difficult to heal and many wipes for the newer groups but the gear is worth it. Easy enough with good tank and heals but itll still be difficult. I suggest a pally tank and reading up on the fights BEFORE hand.

A question.

At the beginning of the dungeon, Sylvanas gives a speech. She ends it with "May the Dark Lady watch over you". or sth like that. Isn't SHE the Dark Lady ? Oo
This would actually mean her saying "May I watch over you" ?
And she speaks about herself in third person, which is even weirder.

To get to the entrance to these instances, approach Icrecrown Citadel from the west. Look for the entrance at the western face, at the UPPER-most walkway.

The entrance to the room containing the summoning stone and portals is at 52.4, 89.3 in Icecrown. If you don't have coordinates, that is just above the "e" in Icecrown Citadel on your map.

With the updated Looking For Dungeon feature, you might never find yourself looking for it ... unless you wipe.

Changes with next patch:

* Devourer of Souls will cast Mirrored Soul less frequently.
* Trash mobs Spell Reflect abilities have been changed. It now has a cast time, 2 charges, and chance to reflect reduced to 75% from 100%

Hunters, feign death is your best friend here. Bronjahm's sever souls will cease if you fd while he channels, and no fragment will spawn. The Devourer's mirror soul will cease if you fd. This can save a bunch of time and annoying struggle.

you can enter this dungeon at lvl 75(I don't know about pit of saron or halls of reflection but i assume they both also only require lvl 75) but you can not use the dungeon finder untill lvl 80

Mages! If you want to do more than just DPS, you can be very helpful in this dungeon.

There are several trash pulls that have a ton of casters in them. It's very difficult for tanks to round them all up, and at least one mob usually ends up outside the fight spamming shadowbolts. Using polymorph and counterspell, you can make the tank's job much easier. Counterspell also helps during the final boss. You could also dispel the curses put on the tank by the ghosts near the end.

I love Counterspell because it has a long cooldown and silences for a 8 seconds. Keeping it on cooldown doesn't hurt your DPS as much as a shaman using Wind Shear or a rogue using Kick.

Trust me, you'll be a very popular mage if you do these things.

It seems that the gearscore requirement to random queue for heroic Forge of Souls is roughly 3300ish, we had a 3400gs shammy, and a 3200gs DK, and only the DKs gear was too low level to queue for this.
I'm assuming that it uses a gear score type rating to allow/deny you access to the randoms of FoS/PoS/HoR.

FYI if its your first time running the FoS's you might want to take a bathroom break before hand to get any business out of the way. Since you WILL laugh at one point or another and....well lets just hope you don't laugh too hard..../ashamed

Hello, at what level is this dungeon (and the others following) avaible in the Looking For Group tool? Do you need much gear to do it? Ive done it several times, but my characters were already more than geared for all these dungeons, so I don't know if it would be possible that a level 78 character with the normal gear it can get would be able to do it, as healer or dps with other 3 geared people.

Unless you are using the Dungeon Finder, you MUST have a flying mount to get here. I really wish Wow would highlight these quests for those that cant afford a mount!

To anyone that's curious, this dungeon is very soloable on normal mode as a lvl 85. Soloed as a Feral Druid in Heroic Blues and Crafted Epics, nothing from cataclysm Raids. Did entire instance as Cat DPS, Brohnjam was a joke so I'll probably try it on Heroic mode solo and report back.

The only trouble I had was the Devourer of Souls because this was my first time ever inside this instance I had to figure the fight out. The trick is DO NOT DoT him up at all, use only immediate damage skills/spells, kite during the add phase to avoid as much dmg as possible and stop attacking when he does Mirror of Souls. Use the beam phase to heal with either bandages or spells.

Very easy once I figured it out, although a somewhat long fight. I don't see why this wouldn't be doable on heroic. If you get into trouble you can easily run out of the room down the hallway a bit and reset him.

Easily soloable at 85, with only the Devourer of Souls being a *possible* difficulty. DoT classes will have it harder here because of the Mirror of Souls, but the boss takes such enormous pauses at times that it shouldn't be hard to DPS it down quick enough.

Very easy to solo as well, I solo'ed it about 30mins ago with my Blood Dk with only 5 tank pieces, (359 ofc) So I could get Umbra for my RP char.

How do you get here using the Dungeon Finder? By that I mean what is the level range, and is there any other requirement (such as AIL)?

I have a lvl 83 pally who has never seen it listed in the dungeons she could manually choose to PUG, regardless of whether or not she had met all the requirements. And she DOES have the quest for it already (Echoes of Tortured Souls) which she got flying into the place directly.

Soloed this on a 85 Enhancement Shaman, Tauren, in mostly iLevel 363 gear.

Bronjahm is easily nuked down with BL/Wolves, just need to make sure you nuke him to P2 asap, and then have a Tremor Totem ready for fears in P2. The less spawns you get in P1, the better.

Host of Souls was somewhat trickier (needed 2 tries, actually), but the fight is fairly simple. Use Maelstrom 5 procs for heals, pop Wolves / BL at the start and nuke him/her down as fast as possible. Just make sure you pull back and stop all DPS on Soul Mirror, and that includes totems / wolves / possible Elementals that are out. I had to pop Earth Elemental to heal myself up a bit near 20%, but it's doable (Shamanistic Rage is a big plus). The rest of the fight is just kite adds and avoid the big bad beam.

Good luck for whoever's soloing this / grinding for the Hilt at 85. Hope this helps.

The Forge of Souls was my favorite WotLK dungeon. I remeber when the 7 Fingered Claws dropped. My bro clicked Disenchant, as he would any drop if it didnt benifit his mage, and won it with a 100 roll. After that, I had to make sure he didnt do that to any other item. Was very funny. I dont know why this dungeon was my favorite, it just was. Probally the boss fights.

Just solo'ed this one as a protection paladin at around ilvl 350.

Bronjahm was a cakewalk. No spirit shard spawn off the tank, so the entire first half of the fight is pure tank and spank with nothing else to do. Phase 2 I had no fear immunity at all, but didn't need it. The damage done by the ghost wall are minimal compared to today's health pools. You'll take under 10k damage from them, and when you've got a health pool of 130k+, it just isn't a threat.

Host of Souls was harder for me, but still got it first try. I was doing 5-6k DPS, so I found it easier to actually keep burning through Mirrored Soul using Seal of Insight and a Mending weapon to basically cancel out what was being bounced back at me. The only difficult section was when he calls up the ghosts, but Ancestral Guardian nerfed that pretty easily.

Just kept burning him down with a 2:1 Shield of Righteousness/Holy Word combo and he went down fairly easily.

Even dropped Seethe for my transmog set (assuming I can't get Putricide to drop Facelifter). Couldn't have been happier with it short of getting a battered hilt in the same run. =)

Soloed last night with my enhancement shaman ilvl 373, very very easy, no deaths, and only used hero on last boss. I also soloed Pit after, but somehow couldn't finish quest line so I could enter the last of the Lich King endgame dungeon :(

Going back now and trying heroic mode....

Heroic easily solo-able. You can just blow through the trash but as a hunter you cannot use camouflage to bypass.. On bronjahm just fd on sever soul, and blow him up. On devourer fd to get rid of the damage redirection.
