The project lore team are just starting to run this instance in the Beta...

Looks cool so far (only done trash mobs in the first vid).

Looks like first boss General Bjarngrin is a huge Vrykul with 2 attendants that are streaming lightning chains up and around him. Probably have to down the ads first to lower some sort of shield before you can damage the big man.

There are two quests for horde, one which currently says its only for alliance "Diametrically Opposed" and "Whatever it Takes!" .... can only really get these by doing pretty much all the quests in storm peaks

Edit: and btw i cant seem to find a meeting stone for the instance, looks like one hasn't been put it. Guess it will be eventually.

Note to engineers: there are corpses here that you can "mine," but you'll need to have an Arclight Spanner to do so.

Without wearing one of the special reputation tabards, I've been earning reputation in normal mode with Alliance Vanguard. The trash mobs have been 5 or 6 rep per kill. I did not notice what the bosses rewarded. I am now 11,429 / 21,000 Revered with Alliance Vanguard. Also, I have fully exalted with Valiance Expedition, so it is possible that it would also reward this reputation, at most likely, twice the rate of the Alliance Vanguard. None of my other reputations have increased from running this instance.

Healed the first 3 bosses as a level 75 resto shammy with a 79 prot warrior, but our dps was only level 76 and fights took way too long causing me to go oom, so if anything I would recommend level 78 or so dps because they get a lot of misses if they're any lower than that.

A standard clear (not killing some avoidable trash) on Heroic mode nets you ~2150 reputation with the faction of your choice.

For Heroic Loken Fight:

Loken is one of the harder (hardest) bosses to fight in the game since it is adamant that your entire party has a very quick reaction time. In normal mode the thunder nova channels for about 10 seconds, whereas in heroic it is more like 6. I have discovered a way to TRACK WHEN HE CASTS THUNDER NOVA (without having to count time or use any addons).
When you begin the fight you should notice rings of energy gathering at his feet. After SIX gathers of the rings he will begin to cast thunder nova, so by about the 5th ring gather you should alert your party to be prepared to run.
As for a good way to run, what I usually have my party do is:
1) Tank at edge of flight of stairs where his throne is, nova, run.
2) Tank at edge of second flight of stairs, nova, run.
3) Tank at base of stairs, nova, run.
4) KITE around the CIRCLE below, make sure tank drags him towards the OUTSIDE of the circle so dps/healers have more space to run.

Anyway hope this helps, personally I believe killing Loken within 5 wipes is good. There's also an achievement to kill him under 2 minutes... how that's going to happen I have no idea. Maybe when everone's in super epics >20k hp just dps when nova and heal through afterwards?

Despite what others here say about Loken, here is my take.

If you have even the SLIGHTEST doubt in the basic game-playing skills of anyone in your party, don't bother starting this heroic.

9 wipes, 80g and forever later, still couldn't kill him (we got respawns and ditched). Terrible hunter died first every single attempt, followed by a crappy resto shaman that died second almost every other attempt. As a feral tank I managed to get him down 8% by myself, last one alive on the last attempt.

Stupidly simple boss, MAJOR retard-check. You've been warned.

just wondering... cuz i think 1 is the outlands before it got shattered...
i have checked the planets closely when we cleared the instance... and i still ask myself.

On this screenshot: https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/images/screenshots/107876.jpg i have again visited the instance and something shocked me hard... if you stand very close to the holographic globe and check the south pole of Azeroth, you may see a land that have a shape of dead small animal... or something like that... odd thing is it looks like 1 of the sons of Bowser in Super Mario Bros 3... or i am weird lol. Just take a closer look when you go there, that thing freak me everytime i go there lol.

Music and ambients are from Tyrrel Corp halls, and the "makers" it's a clear similarity with the Tyrrel corp. who build androids and feels himself god.

This is one of my personal favorite dungeons... real test of skills and tactics ... i did this beauty whit a scary group .... realy sceary me lvl 75 Mage, lvl 75 Warlock , lvl 77 retri Paladin a lvl 79 Druid healer whit 30% greens and a other blue items and a lvl 80 Death Knight tank/dps.
The hole time was hard hitting 4-5 lvl bigger trash mobs. And as for the bosses you dont know what was going on whit the hole group. When the paladin who was lvl 77 wrote in chat that he was doing a lot of misses i couldnt even imagine who much misses me and the lock wore doing, but whit the help of some hit food buff and some other hit inccrising enchants i managed o make double the dmg then the lock.
As i recall only the first boss is a dps battle. the other bosses wore a lot easyer since you just need to use tactics and they go down whit ease. preety nice drops tho and a lot of blue BoE, and in the end i think i was just 45-60g in plus (whit paid repairs ofc and +hit food) so i can say its was a good exp for low lvl.
P.S: I dont think you should try this cuz all of the player that wore mentiont ar all Rlf of mine and we play form a local Internet cafe all siting next to each other :) Gl and HF guys.

Killing Loken in under 2 minutes is quite possibly; its just a DPS check on the fight.

Suggested Loken Strategy:
If you notice on the dais that his throne sits on, theirs two bronze bands that run along the length of the stairs. These are going to be your left/right boundary markers. Due to the fact this fight is based on movement I suggest any movement buffs; I particularly like using DK's with Unholy Auras for this factor - just because theres fifty billions DK's and its a passive speed buff that doesn't give you a daze if your hit.

Loken himself is rather easy - he is fairly squishy; and he doesn't hit that hard - the reason he's such a pain is his abilities can easily ruin your day:

DoT Aura: The further you are from Loken the more damage you take. So melee ranged targets take the least damage, but if you get far from him you can quite easily end up being one shotted by the aura DoT.
Negating It: The way you have to get around this is rather simple.. Stay close to him; stay in melee range whether or not your melee preferably. Hunters are only really ones that have any issue with melee range and as long as your within the 5 yards it's really all the same anyways.

Arc-Lightning: This is the reverse of the DoT aura; its fundamentally a chain lightning that is really.. Really.. Really evil. You get hit with arc, and anyone near you gets zapped. And than anyone near them gets the arc bounced off them. For pretty nasty damage. Its not so much an issue in normal as it is in heroic, but its a health concern as it will bounce among your group if your all clustered together. However to be fair, with a solid healer and heavy DPS you can simply eat it and therefore not have to worry about positioning.
Negating It: Arc lightning in my opinion is generally the trickiest to negate - the aura you just have to stay close.. The arc lightning you want to try to have 5 yards on each other. What I normally is form a semi-circle on Loken. For a mental image, assume the tank moves Loken to the left boundary marker, and than turns Loken so he's on it and the tanks back is to the right boundary marker. The group than spreads out on the frontal arc of Loken, no-one behind. This makes it so when they have to run, they all run in the same direction and don't have to cross through Loken.

Nova: This is the culmination of all the abilities, and the main reason why people wipe directly - arc lightning might cause big issues or take down someone or two, but Nova will often or not be the closing statement on any wipe. It was stated you can tell when its coming based on the gathering energy at his feet; 5 coils means nova time - but I've never seen this or tried it. Nova simply will eat you alive if you get hit by it - fortunately its easy to avoid. Sort of.
Negating It: Nova is quite easy to escape - it involves Loken standing still and channeling something. However, you have to watch for it and get out of its range. I run on high graphics so I don't know how applicable this is to everyone - but I assume Blizzard puts essential graphics on a "must render" setting. If you look at the ground when Loken starts his Nova, you can see the exact radius it has by the boundaries of the crackling lightning and flashing strikes of lightning. Get out of the animation boundaries, your out of Nova.

Taking Him Down:
Loken is a spank and tank beyond those three abilities. So what you want to do is to grab him and pull him to the aforementioned left boundary marker - the side doesn't really matter, but just stating one for consistency. Once you pull him there, reface him so your back is to the right boundary marker - your group should already be in a loose semi-circle around him. If you get a Arc Lightning bouncing off someone, give them a bit more room. When he starts to channel his Nova, run back to the right side marker. To be honest; you generally only need to run about half way if Lokens on the left marker, but if your having issues on not wiping its better to be safe than sorry.

Once Loken finishes his Nova (hopefully sans destroying your group), he will run over to you - reface him so your back is to left boundary and than rinse and repeat. He should die rather easily for you than.

there is a ....very strange mix of Norse and Greek mythology going on around here...almost like its blurred. Originally the final boss was "Kronus" (greek titan of time) or some deviation of that, but it was changed to "Loken" (nordic god of mischief)...at first i thought it was because some manager noticed an idiot put a guy out of his mythological place, but then i realized that this whole instance and Ualdar itself is already a mis-mash of the two lore histories.

My speculation is that Kronus will be a boss in the 25 man version of Ualdar, along with Jormungrand (the world worm), some high-tech $%^& (wouldnt be suprised to find Zerg here), and of course some incarnation of Yogg-Saron, an old god (probably similar to C'thun)

Further speculation may suggest that some of these titans are working with the Faceless Ones, so there may be some high-end Faceless interaction as well, whereas Zul'Drak's potential 25 man instance will feature more troll-to-god interaction with possible demonic or Lich-King influence, Ualdar will most likely deal with Old God / Titan stuff.

Notes for Heroic run through the anvil fire guys:

Not a tough instance until the very end which is a bear. Another tricky spot can be shortly after the first melee boss in which you run through a circluar area with an anvil constantly crashing down. All the adds will aggro you no matter what, and AoE can be tricky as the casters will drag so much aggro they'll pull them away from tank.

Here's what we did successfully with (Shaman, Mage, Rogue DPS, Warrior tank, Pally heals) from my (tank) perspective. I ran through first grabbing all aggro and positioning myself in the middle of the far stairway. Rest of party ran past me to right at the top middle of the stairs (being careful not to aggro groups on either side). After wiping the first run from AoE stripping aggro, we decided to slow WAY down. We ran to opposite stairs and let me build aggro for a good 5 seconds or so. Then DPS would start AoE and I could Shockwave them all stunned for 4 seconds. Once they released I could challenging shoult them back to me for 6 seconds, afterwhich the shockwave will be refreshed and can stun them again for another 4 seconds. This should be more than enough time to burn them all down with only the tank taking damage. Any kind of AoE movement imparing effects comes in handy here as well to make sure they stay put.

Again, trick here is not to rush the AoE DPS and give the Tank plenty of time to group and position them properly.

Don't want to get don't rated on this, but am feeling quite pleased with myself atm..... Healed through here as a lvl 76 disc priest......

Found Loken to be the easiest boss tbh...... All stayed under and it was simply a case of Holy Nova ftw.... and relying on Divine Aegis to proc ofc ... used a Runic mana pot, but went perfectly well apart from that. Suppose it's because he hits for very little, and his nova is the main damage of the encounter.

The fight with the final Boss, Loken is almost impossible as a deep Discipline Priest. Just writting this post as I wiped 4 times in a row at him. The lack of AoE-Healing Discipline Priests have and the tactic where you have to run then gather up gives you almost no time to cast you Penance or a Flash Heal.
If you are looking for a Healer, take anything just not a Discipline Priest.

I like this instance, but I don't really see a reason to run this on my Prot pally now that I'm doing heroics. There's a single piece of prot plate in the heroic drop list, which totally fails to stand out.

Given the cost of repairing my gear I'd rather not run something with so much wipe potential when there's zero payoff for me.

ok, here is the thing about lightning nova.
it works EXACTLY the same way as his DoT aura (the further away you are, the more damage you take)
although running does work, it is hard to get far away enough that you won't be affected by it. If, when he starts casting it, you run underneath him (you should already be near enough there to get rid of his DoT), you won't take much damage at all. Shaman healers re-drop totems, although I'm not sure if it destroys them, druids use wild growth, and priests use holy nova. Pala healers have a hard time on this but they can probably get by. On the last nova (3rd) druids should pop Tranquility, and you are fine.

Also, it is interesting about the 2 moons around azeroth, I think blizz did a good job there

Loken isn't a very difficult boss if you can get everyone to run at the right time. Me (Feral tank) and the healer (Discipline priest) just two manned him from 50% after everyone else died XD.

Not the best way to get the two minute achievement O.o but it is still possible to kill him with two people

This, I would consider a very easy instance. Me and another druid managed to solo. Me being tank at t8. Other being a balance druid at t7. No specced healer and we did it. Very easy.

The majority of people seem to have advised that you should run as soon as he starts casting his nova... personally I found that the fight is ten times harder this way.

You're best off putting a mark on the tank and everyone crowding around them when Loken starts casting, this way your party can carry on dealing out the DPS and the fight is over quicker. Running all over the place just tends to make the fight more confusing seeing as how your DPS are spending more time getting out of the way instead of knocking the crap out of him.

Also group heals here are a must i.e. priests start casting prayer of healing so that it hits your party right after his nova has hit them etc.

Good strategies for Loken, but here's what I did.

Had 3 dps, including myself, a tank and a healer. Unholy/Blood DS DK, Assassin Rogue, Frost Mage, Protadin, Holy Priest, all at 80. I had all rare gear except for 2 green trinkets to add extra crit rating and all that stuff to increase my dps output. The tank and all 3 of the dps just stuck close to Loken to negate the Thunder Nova, I just stuck by his feet while I was nailing him with this rotation when I was in my secondary spec: IT, PS, HS, HS, HS, DC, DC, DS if I needed health, then spamming HS and DC when I have more than 80 RP, then refreshing Frost Fever and Blood Plague with IT and PS. I did over 2.3k dps during that fight. If you guys look at my profile here on wowhead, just go to the Profiler, select US & Oceanic from the drop-down, then Dalaran from the drop-down on that, and then in the inal bar, type in Danteveous. You'll get my 80 DK. I think I may be ready for Naxxramas with most of my gear except for the trinkets. Let me know what you guys think, but only AFTER you see his gear.

This place is a Grate way to level 70-80 fast.. if you have a 85 friend that can tank. all you do is kill every thing up to the iron crucible then all you do is have the 85 just keep killing the fire Elementals and your level up in no time ^_^ 1 full up of all 18 gives you 1% of xp 100 pulls and you level you can get about 1-2 levels an hr

Ok so this instance can be Duo'ed by Druid's, but has anyone else actually tried to "SOLO" this instance with any Level 85 Toons?

Please post, I am just wondering because I did skip over some instances on my way to Level 85 and I need to get them done and if I can run them SOLO I will instead of running a PUG.

Yes, this dungeon can be done solo. I soloed with my lv.85 rogue and had no problems. The only thing I would say to watch out for is the Hall of Watchers. They seem innocent at first, but some of them will target you after you've passed them.

The slags after the first boss are great to farm Lovely Charm , 15.8k hp on normal so just run around here and aoe them down.

Warriors have a pretty easy time soloing this instance due to Victory Rush.

A clear for me results in 1-2 stacks of cloth and about 250g in vendor gold.

I just soloed this instance as arcane mage 85 lvl. Took me a while tho, was cleaning group after group.
