You get a timer of about 50 minutes when you start the archer event if you have this quest.

We found out the hard way, you can *not* skip the ogre boss to save some time :D
Guess who comes to help Kargath (end boss) when you engage him? :P

This quest is basically a harder version of the quest Trial of the Naaru: Mercy.

Upon starting the event in the Gauntlet of Flame (correct me if that's not the right name of the place), with the boss and the two archers at the end, you will receive a 50 minute debuff, indicating how long you have to complete the quest. (very similar to The Baron's Ultimatum in Stratholme) Even though the debuff will be gone if you die, this does not mean that the quest failed.

In order to complete the quest you need to engage the Shattered Hand Executioner, who will be located behind Kargath Bladefist. While of course you have to kill the Executioner, it is possible to engage him with one second left on the debuff, kill him when the debuff has already faded and still complete the quest.

As stated in other posts, it is not possible to skip Warbringer O'mrogg or Kargath (by off-tanking him).

While a timer of 50 minutes seems harsh for completing the (rest of the) instance, it allowed our party, consisting of two rogues, one feral druid, one holy and one shadow priest, for several deaths and a complete wipe.

There don't seem to be any follow-up quests and there are no rewards other than the money. I think A1win (currently the poster above me) is right and it's only a bonus for the fast completion of the instance.

It seems as though you have to have at least one person in the group with the debuff when you agroe the executioner. We had a couple of wipes and still finished before the timer, but since no one had the debuff, we didn't get to finish the quest (unlike old 45min runs of Strat).

Not true. We had a few wipes this evening and were able to kill the executioner and save all 3 prisoners.

Completed this quest last night, and despite what was said above, it's NOT the first prisoner to die. We had a timer of 55 minutes. On our way through the awkward room with the centurions and gladiators we did die once, so we didn't have the debuffs. We then died a couple of times on Kargath himself. We weren't quick enough to save the first prisoner (a dwarf), but killed Kargath (and then the executioner) shortly after, saving the remaining two, one of which was Captain Alina.

So 3 wipes in total, we had a few odd deaths, and managed to complete the timed section of the instance in about an hour. Fairly nice group of a feral druid, warlock, mage, shadow priest, and holy paladin.

As i was told by a GM, "you will not get credit if you die."

I was running the instance with a good group, we killed all the bosses, had only 2 mishaps that caused 2 wipes. we quickly got back and saved all 3 prisoners but didn't get credit.

The GM's statement was untrue. I did shattered halls again, wiped same numbers of times, saved 2 instead of 3, on purpose, we got credit.

There are two possible reasons you will not get credit for doing this quest, you saved the 'big mouthed' dwarf who is executed first, or you wiped and didn't have the debuff while killing kargath and/or the executioner.

This quest can be done at level 67, the requirement is not level 70. Not that most people will run heroics at 67, but... yeah... >_> I <3 my guild?

Just ran it on an alt with a very well geared group. Grabbed the quest before dropping into the sewers to kill green globs (yuck). We did a complete clear in well under the 50 minutes, no wipes. Killed the executioner after last boss and saved the chick (Alina iirc).

She now has a gray question mark over her head? Put in a GM ticket and was told "sorry can't help you, run it again. No way to tell if you grabbed the quest prior to killing first boss. But at least you got 5 badges." Good grief I was still standing right in front of Alina and the other two prisoners.....

I was told to do a server transfer if I found it too hard to get a group to run heroic SH. Nice and professional there Blizz. So word of warning, don't bother to put in a ticket if your quest doesn't complete...will be a waste of your time.

if you are lvl 70 (which you are since you are in a heroic) this nets 24g and +500 rep with Honor Hold.

No follow up.

A great waste of time unless you are bored and want to do something challenging for a change.
It was fun doing this quest with well-equipped, experienced friends.

as of 15.06.2007.

Time starts together with the event the Gauntlet of Flame (entering in the room right after the first boss). This means you can regenerate and rebuff right after the first boss and then you have 80 minutes (55 + 10 + 15) to save Captain Alina.

Captain Alina is the third captive that will be executed.

you have 55 min to save everyone
additional 10 min to save the second captive and Captain Alina.
additional 15 min to save only Captain Alina.

achieving only the 3rd goal is enough to finish the quest. I have no idea if you get additional bonuses if you finish it faster...

Does anyone know if this quest is available in Classic TBC? I played horde back in the original BC and never noticed this NPC before, so when I was running H Shatt Halls on my human just now I got curious and looked him up. He didn't have a quest available for anyone in my group when we talked to him.
