The scouts and outrunners are all over the front of the lodge and the field next to it. The rangers and marksman are in the back, with some actually inside the building. There is also a gazebo-like structure near the lake where you can find several rangers and marksman.

Why is this quest considered PVP? Attacking none of these enemies will flag you.

It's considered PVP as the Alliance are alerted "Quel'Danil Lodge is under attack." when you attack the mobs for the quest. On a PVE server this will not flag you as these are just regular mobs that wander the area, but on a PVP server such as the one I'm on it tends to bring the kids running with guns blazing.

You can start picking off the Outrunners and scouts alone in the front, however when move toward the inside and back areas, it's hard to pull just one npc. You definitly need to have at least one other player help you, if not 2 others.

Location is 38.5, 48.3.

I found this quest to be very simple as a level 47 protection specced Paladin. I pulled 7 at a time, with ease.

You do not become flagged during this quest, the only reason it is marked as a PvP quest is because it is part of a chain where you become flagged in a later quest.

Only problem with this quest, is there's not enough rangers to finish on one pass especially if anyone else is in the area. They only spawn in the building and by the documents in back, and there's only 6 up at a time max

33, 52 is about right for the lodge area. The rangers are the slowest to spawn for sure and they spawn in the middle main lodge and on either side of the back pond. I found once I killed them in one spot they would spawn to the right or left sides of the pond.

A warning to rogues, warriors and druids in kitty form: the rangers cast Faerie Fire, which in my case brought my armor down to nothing. Had to switch to Dire Bear form to survive.

The Scouts and Outrunners is very easy to locate, and spawns pretty fast. But the Rangers and Marksmen, goddamn they have a long spawntime! be prepared to wait for 7 min after you've killed them all

You will find many scouts & outrunners infront of the building.

Inside the building you will find about 3 markmanships & 5 Rangers and a escort quest Ren'ji's Trapped! all located in the back. Note: you will be encountered by 3 rangers and 3 outrunners during 2 different pulls so if your short on either of these then do the quest!

Then you can jump off and go behind the building to find more rangers and markmanships

Level a bit if this quest is giving you some trouble. I didn't get to it until I hit level 51 and these high elves were dropping like flies. They're all over the lodge, in front of it, in it, and on both sides. As was stated above go to UC and get the "Lines of Communication" quest. There's one set of documents in the building, one on a hill to the west and then one next to the water. Burn them and slaughter the elves along the way and even help out the poor troll. All the elves have cloth and silver on them to.

Ignore the PvP marking as well. It's not in my quest log and I didn't run into any other players save ones doing the escort.

With the Fire Festival going on, there's a TON of 70 Alliance running by this place to extinguish the Revantusk fire for gold. Most of them won't think twice to hop off their mount and two-shot you. Hence, be careful if you're on a PVP server and try to do this at an off time like during the day if possible. If not, and you have a main, park it nearby and be ready to log over to deter corpse-campers.

On a low-pop PVP server (Chromaggus) my 48 pally alt was ganked by no less than 3 level 70 Huntards (all Night Elf, go figure) in the span of an hour doing this, until I flew my main out (Disc priest) and took out the 3rd hunter who was camping said alt.

A quick note to my fellow arcane specced mages: all of these mobs have a very high arcane resistance. as lvl51 with 10% talented, they still frequently resisted my AM.

The quest is easy grinding experience. There's also an escort quest available once you get inside the building. I got one blue drop and two greens during this very simple quest =)

It isn't too difficult just require some TLC. I did it at LVL 45.

I'd call it 46, 47 max. I did it at 49. Hey, it was still yellow, and we all have had quests go green before we do them 'cause we're on the wrong continent or something.
I wouldn't call it a waste of time, really, but it's a farm quest not an exp grind. Out of 60 mobs you have to kill, virtually all of them were green for a 49 - maybe 3 47's and a pile of 44s, rest 45-46. And I aggro's more than 1 maybe 2, 3 times out of the 60.
However, you do end up with a fair pile of mageweave, and I got 1 rare drop.
Relatively quick for a hunter with detect humanoid on as you can tag what you still need (like rangers which are mostly across the lake from the building)
And yes I did get camped by a high-level allie near the end.

I remember doing this quest ages ago. Have to do it again soon on my new char.
Does it say "So-and-so is under attack!" when you kill the elves?
I'm on a PvE realm so it doesn't matter, just curious though.

Also, on the last part where you have to drop the spear, does it flag you for PvP whether you kill guards or not?

only about 3-4 rangers in this area and thats taking into account if anyone else is doing it (which at peak times there usually is). The problem being the respawn rate is 15 mins(I timed it) which means you need to kill all the rangers and wait for them to respawn 4 times which means you'll be around here for around an hour! come on blizzard sort it out!

A good grinding quest, especially when you can't find any rangers and too many scouts! Rangers are the hardest to find, only inside the lodge or by the waterfall. Beware of a lvl 49 elite that randomly shows up in the lodge!

Don't forget to pick up Lines of Communication in Undercity from Oran Snakewrithe to do at the same time.

You can enter the lodge building either from the door or by jumping the corner ledge on the northern corner.

If you need either rangers or marksmen but not both, you can save time by swimming into the middle of the lake and picking off what you want from the perimeter

Respawns are fast.

Do this at the same time as Lines of Communication out of the Undercity -- you should come across all the Highvale reports while you're completing this quest.

Probably marked PVP because the last part of the chain takes place at Aerie Peak and flags you. Don't let that scare you off; there's no inherent PVP involved in the first two parts and it's easy to run away when you do the last. Helcular's Revenge in Hillsbrad was much tougher.

That the mobs are friendly to alliance is irrelevant; by the time you're on this quest you'll probably have killed many mobs that are green to alliance without even knowing it.

It is because on the last quest you do kill monsters that will flag you for pvp, i think the are dwarf guards or something.. The first 2 shouldn't flag you but I am getting ready to try it tomorrow so I will let you know

I'm pretty sure that it's a PvP quest because (at least on PvP servers) it triggers "Under attack" messages for all alliance players in the area..

Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure the reason why this is a PvP quest, at least on a pvp sever, is that it triggers "Under attack" messages for all the alliance in the area...

Which can make it a pain in the ass if some alliances are iching for some free kills since your pretty much free game in an area where all the npcs attack you but don't attack them

I have this quest in my log and it says (PVP) so do the Alliance get alerted when we attack or not? And if so, is there an alliance quest which alerts Horde players too? Would only be fair.

Yep, not flagged anymore as PvP. So you can save breath about "should i take this im sure theres some lvl 50 jerk alliance who will kill me when i fight to mob and spit spam me". So yeah, do this quest in peace

!@#$ing lv70 druid heals the bloodelfs! its so !@#$ing annoying i cant kill a single one with out him healing them and then they kill me. Well I'll try this tomorrow see if no1 will heal them

Anyone know why this quest is flagged "PvP" in the log? I may not have been paying attention but I'm not sure I've seen that before, and I don't recall seeing a PvP label on any of the high elves I whacked there before the new trollvillage patch.

I'll re-state some good advice below. Before picking up this quest, pick up the Lines of Communication quest in UC sine you will be in the same place anyway.

This is another one of those quests where I'd love to know what the actual !@#$ Blizzard was thinking when they designed the spawn points for the mobs. There's tons of Scouts and Outrunners all over the place, you can get 15 of those easily. But the Marksmen and even worse, the Rangers? There's only like, 3 or 4 spawn points for these mobs....despite also needing 15 kills each. WHY? Why would Blizzard design the quest this way? I get that WoW is an MMO and thus it's designed to make you spend more time ingame, but this is just horrendously #$%^ quest design.

Quest sucks. Hardly any to kill. Other horde are farming them without grouping. Have killed 1 total in 15 min. Stupid.
