The Star of Xil'yeh comes from Grel'borg the Miser (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/npc=2417), a named Ogre that patrols around the Alterac Mountains (where all the higher level elite 37-40 ogres are -- you can find him walking from the "town hall" type building to the "castle" building. Several quests involve killing Grel'borg, so don't be surprised to find other people also hunting him down at the same time.

The Hand of Dagun comes from Dagun the Ravenous (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/npc=2937), a named water giant that is summoned on an island to the north of Theramore. You will know it's the right island when you see a small glowy orb on an altar. To summon Dagun, you need to kill the Mirefin Oracles for a quest item called "Enchanted Sea Kelp" -- it only drops from the oracles and may take a while (it's always taken me at least ten minutes of killing to get it on all of my alts). Once you have the Sea Kelp, you click on the altar and Dagun will rise up from the sea.

Finally, the Legacy Heart comes from Mogh the Undying (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/npc=1060), a named troll in central Stranglethorn Vale (you can find him in some ruins directly south of the Mosh'Ogg Ogre Mound). I believe that he is the hardest to finish (unless in a group) since he's surrounded by many mobs that also respawn fairly quickly. Either bring a friend or two or be 44+, because it's pretty hellish clearing when you're underlevel and soloing.

man this was crazy i killed over 50 bitches :)) but the funny thing is that i got the kelp from an oracle placed on the island near the altar island so u should try it too , i killed alot on the altar island and nothing then i decided to go there to and at my 1st i got the kelp :)) , good luck couse u sure need it

I used another tactic with my 46 Demonology warlock.

First is the same as what others said, kill all the close trolls.
After that, I let my VW attack his add, the little boy. I only attacked Mogh, curses and SB, then Shadow Ward and Drain Life until he's dead. The boy vanishes after Mogh dies. He only got healed once.

The two things with this quest that make it difficult is that the drop rate of the oracles is incredibly low. I spent 20 minutes killing them over and over before the kelp finally dropped.

The other thing is that Mogh is surrounded by mobs that i had to pick off one by one until it was down to Mogh, his minion and another headhunter that I couldn't get close enough to kill on his own. Once it was down to those three, I went into Cat form, pounced his little boy and killed him first. With him out of the way, you don't have to worry about Mogh getting healed mid-battle. After that i was able to kill the mob, heal, and then take down Mogh.

grel-Borg is easy, since there are open spots where you can take him w/o worrying about other ogres to jump in.

I've done the quest twice and its been about an hours worth of killing murlocks both times for the kelp to drop from the oracles.

L48 Ench Shaman with good dual L48 maces can do it. Kill healer near Mogh fast, kill 2nd add fast, then keep Earthshock boss, so you don't get hitted by his heavy shadow bolts. (it interrupt spell casting) And don't forgot your health, i just need 1 health potion drink and finish it. Put also some totems down for support.

Just spent 45 minutes farming Oracles to get the kelp with my 46 enhance shammy, and Dagun wasn't bad at all. The trolls... well, I guess they'll all be gray when I get back to them to solo... overall, everyone's right, unless you're needing for rep, this one's definitely not worth it.

If you're going to do this quest you should also pick up The Perenolde Tiara in Stormwind Keep, since both require you to kill Grel'borg the Miser.

This is were I make myself an enemy...but I had the kelp drop on my 3rd Oracle ...Dagun himself wasn't that difficult using my Destruction and Warlock and Voidy at lv45.

Perhaps the drop rate has changed since the 3.1 patch?

Also note, there are Mirefins on the island EAST of the alter. The Hand of Dagun drops there as well.

As of 5/22/09 i only had to wait 10 minutes to find the kelp for the hand of Dagun. i did it with my level 45 warrior and just pulled all of them at once.

If you're having trouble getting this drop, (like I am...3hours...) Be sure to kill the muckdwellers aswell as Oracles. This way you get more of a chance that Oracles will respawn. Also be sure to check the island to the East for more Oracles.

*Edit* Doing this quest as an 80, is no fun at all. You'll kill them far too fast for the respawn rate, making you sit there awaiting repsawn.

To avoid mobs when targeting Mogh the Undying - stand on the ledge above and behind them. Target his minion first since he is the healer while there are only three of them around the fire. His minion will run up to fight you, move down a little on the ledge to meet him while Mogh and the troll will follow at a slight distance below and throw spells at you. Make sure you can handle being blasted by two spellcasters while you take down the minion and they burn their mana. Once he is dead the other two should be out of mana and will come up to the ledge to meet you. Target Mogh and he will come down easier.

I have to hadnd it down to blizz, they have a great talent at ^&*!ing up the game experience. The game is stupidly easy where it should be difficult and incredibly hard where it's not the case. After killing over 50 murlocs and checking the reward that I will never probably use because, well it's quite useless considering you could just get a pair of Swift Boots that have 40% run speed and not a single downfall to them.

Not to say that in the time you spend on this single part of the quest you can do about 5 more in the same area I don't see any reason why i shouldn't abandon the quest right now. Which is exactly what I am doing.

Drop rate, blizzard's devilish way to keep you spending more time in the game for the single reason of paying another month. Hey, they're doing it for the players right?

Actually i am trying to do my loremaster achievement and whenever i catch a chance to drop by to the quest zone for murlocs, i kill dozens of the oracles there and still no kelp. today is my third day i dropped by.

very very very low drop rate for this kelp. starting to think it is bugged..

edit: dropped from an oracle at the fourth day. not bugged confirmed. :D

I probably spent 20 minutes on trying to get the Enchanted Sea Kelp. If you travel between the 2 islands killing everything on them it goes pretty quick. I also noticed immediate respawns after I killed Muckdwellers and Oracles. I did this as a level 80 Shadow Priest. Just used Devouring Plague to 1 shot everything. :)

As someone mentioned earlier, take the Enchanted Sea Kelp to the island with the glowing orb, click the Enchanted Sea Kelp and watch him walk up from the shore line! :D

Thanks to the comment above, I managed to grab the kelp in about 10 minutes(maybe 20 oracles). After emptying the island with the altar, I came here, read the comments and decided to try the island east of the one I was on. The kelp dropped on the third oracle there.

I've done this quest probably 5 times on other toons and it never occurred to me that the oracles on other islands were fair game. I guess I'm not the sharpest crayon.

I'm a lvl 47 pally. I took a clanny lvl 38 warlock with me to help him get it done also, but I could have completed it solo easy, all 3 of them. I completed them in order on the letter, from killing the Alterac one 1st, then Dagun 2nd, then the troll in Stranglethorn Vale 3rd, this is how I did it:

Alterac - Just went it, killed Ogres to help clannie complete couple quests, then proceeded to kill him and 3 other Ogres at the same time very easy.

Dagun - This one I hated. We killed 100's of these little freaking Murlocs. Killed them all around the alter so we didn't have to clear it afterward. We then summoned him, and took the 43 Elite Giant out pretty easy.

Stranglethorn Vale - My clanny left to for life issues, so I started this solo. I approached the ruins where he's at, killed a number of trolls leading up to him. And then I joined up with a 43 mage to help him get it also. We just cleared out everything around him, then took out 44 elite troll and the 2 that is with him.

So, I would say that most could solo this at or above 47+ pretty easy, that is for a warrior/pally. Don't know about others, because they do good damage. So depends on class what you can solo I think, but you never know.

The Altar is at 59, 10
This is also where the most Murlocs are found, and it doesnt take long at all to get the kelp.
The Giant is 43 Elite with no special powers.

Orcales that drop kelp are lv37/38, so I suggest farm them when you around lv45, would be good exp/drops.
At lv50 or so it'll be easy to beat all 3 bosses, you can go back to dugun.
If you farm for kelp at lv50, you cannot get exp from kill mirefin oracles.

I was absolutely convinced this drop was bugged. I was about to abandon the quest and low and behold, it FINALLY dropped.

To put this into perspective, this is what I ended up with when the kelp finally dropped.

- 77 Fish Oils
- 74 Shiny Fish Scales
- 44 Thick Murloc Scales
- 20 Junk vendor items

Took a few hours overall, killing non-stop. (47 Druid)

Anyway, good luck with this one guys.

After reading these posts, grinding non-stop and thinking about how fat I have gotten in the past year from playing wow I was ready to do a different quest.
Low and behold it finally dropped. Don't give up grinding!... Unless you have a life or something

I started in the Ruins of Alterac, Grel'borg the Miser. He's RED! He moves from the Town Hall to the Castle. I finished him off pertty easily. When I entered the ruins, I spotted Grel'borg, and aggro'ed, so I watched him walk off. I did find him just inside the castle door off to the left.

Mogh the Undying (48, 44) Stangelthorn Vale

Mogh has some body guards and is a little harder to kill. A warrior and I fininshed him off and his 2 body guards. Not that hard with two people. Note: He regens, so unless you can deal out the damage. Good luck.

Dagon the Ravenous (59, 9) Dustwallow Marsh

We got to the island and had to sweep it twice before the "Mirefin Oracle" dropped the Kelp that we needed. Place the Kelp on the alter and Dagon comes out of the water from the beach. Another target that's easy to kill.

He heals his guards too, so eliminating step by step is not possible.

And the ona in murlock isle is most time consuming.. i mean to find thing to activate altar and to get boss appear.

Easiest is boss in alterac mountains.

I soloed this today, but not without problems. After trying two times I re-thought my strategy, and took him down in flames :). I did it like this: Cast sheep on the caster besides him, rapidlay shoot a fireball in Mogh�s face, cast counterspell on him, lock him and the minion in place and continue pounding on Mogh. After a few more seconds he falls to the earth in a burning spectacle leaving his helpless minion behind. Kill him to if u like, or spare him if thats your cup of tea :P
Also advisable is to clean up a bit before you start. Also loc is confirmed at 48, 44.

I�m a 48 mage btw so if you are a bit higher level than 44 it obviosly helpes... Good luck to all :)

The Alter is located at 59, 9 and there are enough Murloc Oracles around it that I went straight in without the kelp and got the drop while clearing around the Alter. Solo'd as Lvl. 46 Pally with no difficulty

(48 Pally)In the middle of this quest took me the better part of an hour to find the Kelp. After that, the giant was easy. In Fact, I had to keep it from running by using Judgment of Justice. Like earlier post, I would say get the kelp in a earlier level and solo the quest about 47+.

Getting the Hand

Go to the island in Dustwallow Marsh 59,9, kill the oracles (it can take some time) and get the enchanted kelp.

Stand near the alter (with a large ball sitting on it), and right click on the enchanted kelp; this will cause Dagun the Ravenous to spawn (he is a giant who walks out of the water and is visible from the alter).

Kill Dagun for the hand.

I was having trouble with Mogh until i used mind control on her and killed minion and troll with her shadow blasts then got to finsih her off easy as she had no no mana left ..piece of cake for 45 priest

First: Grel'borg the Miser.
(Alterac Mountains, 40,48)
Easy, just go to keep and wait for him. Kill mobs around when they're too near.

Second: Dagon the Ravenous
(Dustwallow Marsh, 59,09)
It's at northeastest island. Kill oracles until you got the kelp. It's long fight for me.
Before you summon boss, kill first oracles around to make way more free (they can heal him) and then kill him. He hits good.

Third: Mogh the Undying
(Stangelthorn Vale, 48, 44)
Almost impossible work, until i discover the chance. Make sure the group has Berserker, not Spiritchaser.
Make the area around a bit free at left side, but don't kill mob in front of the group. Kill first walking mob near doctor, when he is far enough.
Then pull the mob in front of the group (which is far enough from the group), but when he's almost dead, let him walk to the group. He shall ask for help and just ONE mob walks with him to you. The doctor and Kurzen stays surprisly at the place.
Kill both mobs. Make yourself full, then mindblast small Kurzen Mindslave quickly to dead.
Now you can focus fully at Mogh only until he is dead.
The chance is bigger with Berserkers, because they're melee fighters. With casters, the chance is lower for succesfully soloing, because they fight ranged.
Otherwise you need 1 player for support.

Just solo'd Mo as a 48 resto druid. Just take out everyone around Mo except for the minion and mob. Also take out the 2 hunter patrols in the area. For the patrol mob next to Mo, wait till he leaves Mo and then take him out.

For the last 3, I did a regrow on myself then stealthed and took out caster mob in catform. If you take him out fast enough, he doesn't get healed. Then take out the minion and finally Mo. Keep healing and nature's grasp on yourself, so you need a lot of mana. Make sure nobody runs off or you'll aggro more mobs. Mo runs out of mana fairly quickly, which turns him into a lame melee mob.

I just soloed it as a lvl 43 paladin (holy spec.) I only died once and that was in Dustwallow Marsh to the giant. My word of advice for that part of the quest is to kill the murlocs as quick as you can, I found that they respawned fairly quickly and they're a pain to have around while you're trying to kill Dagun.
Otherwise getting everything else is easy enough, just make sure you take enemies one at a time.

The worst drop ever...

I spent nearly 2 hours to get the kelp, killing tons of murlocks.

About the other parts of the quest I had no problem to make it solo with a protect Paladin lvl 46.

Ya thought I would try this, as I don't mind grinding when the drop rate is reasonable (say 5-20% is acceptable), but the murloc drop rate here was horrible, wiped out the entire island about 10 times trying to get an oracle to drop it. Even without if you ignore the murloc low drop rate, this quest is worthless, it sends you to running to 3 remote locations, the reward for this is totally not worth it (even the follow up quest reward is not worth it), killing 100 murlocs is not my idea of fun, do yourself a favor and abandon this quest.

This part sucked, I had to kill 27 oracles to get that kelp (and 31 warriors to be able to get to the oracle), which took over an hour with the waiting for respawns. Sometimes I wonder if Blizzard wants to chase us away from this game.

I had to kill 18 Oracles to get an Enchanted seaweed to drop. I then went to the isle and cleared it back to front - that is i cleared the side Dagun does not come up on first and the side he comes up on last. When he showed up he was a 43 elite and i soloed him with HP to spare as a 47 warrior (no impressive feat there). Thing is, while i was clearin another enchanted sea Kelp dropped and I (of course) could NOT pick it up as it is a unique item - BUT as soon as i popped my kelp on the alter i picked it up for insurance as this was my second go round with Mr Dagun.
As i believe others have said BE CERTAIN to clear the isle of murlocks - especially oracles - before u summon him.

Star and heart were the first two items I chose to do only because I despise murlocs with a passion. I finally decide to do the murloc part when my quest turns yellow, not wanting it to turn green. I started as a 44 warlock, first of all the drops for the oracles was horrible. I kill murlocs for at least an hour waiting for a drop. Then, once I finally do get the drop I summon the guy only to find out he's a lvl 43 elite and at the time my talents were all mixed up and my warlock has crappy killing power so I died. Totally annoying since now i have to go back and try to get the damn drop again. Now the quest is green and I'm going to try again at lvl 47, wish me luck. If I fail again I'm dropping the quest, too annoying.

Mine came from the group of 3 oracles near the alter.. I did of course clear the group twice(and the hole damn island too)..took about 25 minutes forit to drop. Could be that you have to kill one of the oracles at the alter before the "special placeholder" oracle spawns. Some rare mobs can work this way.

I was grouped up with a couple of people to do this quest on Suramar, and we ganked 4 islands of murlocks (concentrating on the Oracles) over and over and over and over again with no Enchanted Sea Kelp, for about 30 mins. I had run out of time, so we de-grouped, but I killed an oracle on the way off the island with the altar on it and it dropped the Kelp.

That must be some kind of glitch, if you ask me. If you have trouble getting the drop and you are in a group, try de-grouping and killing things solo. Other than that, not a hard quest, just annoying.

I got the kelp off the third oracle didn't bother clearing the island. Slaughtered the giant as a 45 warlock with a felhunter out cuz there was a stealthed druid near by so I gave up all my damage bonus (demo specced) and just killed him with dots. -yawn-

As always, if you like endless boring grinding, the murloc part of this quest is for you--but if you happen to like fun, excitement, challenges and the other things that make games fun--you might be better off skipping this quest. After reading all the posts, I put a 50 oracle limit on myself. I just killed my 50th oracle (along with about an equal number of muckdwellers)--no kelp.I dropped the quest--and will avoid it with any toons in the future. I have better things to do with my time.

Do some people get the kelp by killing 1, 2 or 15 oracles? Sure. And some people win the lottery with a single ticket.

If you decide to do this quest and aren't into grinding, I would suggest that you do this part of the quest first so you don't lose so much if you get fed up--as has happened (judging by the posts) with so many of us.

I enjoy most aspects of WOW, but I will never understand the game designers put in quests that seem to be purposely designed to be frustrating and boring.

Ok first i went to Theramore to get sea weed 63-28.Then to the alter 58-9 Dagun gave me his hand, no buggs was np at lvl 49.Next to Alterac mountains 39-53 Grel'borg kicked down the star.Finnally to Stranglethorn vale 45-45 were i took my prize from Mogh

Took me 17 oracles to get the kelp.

All green mobs, so it was pretty relaxed.

Soloed the big guy as a lvl 45 pally.

Soloed all 3 parts as a 44 shadow priest. Hardest was stranglethorn part,But did it by clearing all mobs around boss till just boss and minion and mob closest to him were left, then i focused all my dmg on the remaining add till it died then ran away. After agro was lost went back and used mind control on the boss to kill the healer minion. then used swp and wand to kill the boss. took a few deaths learning it but it went ok in the end. Hope it helps

I did this quest with several chars, on a few I even stopped half-way through... Read all the previous posts: For a level 44 quest the reward is just not worth the effort. Even IF you are pvp'ing it has at the most questionable worth, I used it about one or two times in BG's. Also, when finishing the quest, with all other things you want to do, it was green or even grey already.

Summary: It just is not worth it all. Do some grinding or enjoy doing other quests - this just holds you up.

Q Ok. I would just like to start this note off by saying, thanks to all previous notes and map references, I have done this. I did the Hand of Dagun 1st then the Legacy heart. As previously noted, go for the murloch's closet to the altar and I got the Kelp on the second kill. Then got brave, took a buddy with me to stranglethorn vale and that was a bit tricky as couldnt find the 3rd ruins. If you stand on the top of the cave and look to the right slightly, head in that direction.

We rested on the far wall after resurecting and we were trying to work out a plan when one of the gaurds made us and come up on the wall. After this one, the healer and a guard come up and we killed them then Mogh followed. Once mogh was dead quickly got the heart, thanked my helper and ran. lol

1. Dagun's Hand - drops off the big elite giant and is summoned by placing enchanted sea kelp on the altar on the Mirefin Island's altar. The Altar is located on the 3rd or so isle north of Theramore. the sea kelp drops off the mirefin oracles. Warrior class - was pretty difficult for me to solo. He was lvl 43 elite to me and I was lvl 46 priest.

2. Mogh's Legacy Heart - drops off Mogh the Undying (troll boss) located in the troll ruins on the tiered area south of the ogres. You'll know if you're in the right area because the outermost guards in the ruins are all troll hunters with panther pets. The pets do not run but will keep attacking if you kill the hunter troll. If you pull it just right you can pull the nearby trolls one at a time and take out Mogh by himself. Mogh is paladin class and throws lightning at you. Mogh has a human minion so set a pet on the minion and just take potshots at Mogh. He will waste his mana on trying to fry you with lightning.

3. Grel'borg's Star - drops off Grel'borg (ogre boss in alterac mountain ruins). He spawns in the castle keep and walks out the front gate to the builldings and returns to the keep. He walks this route regularly. Take out a few ogres near the side of the castle and pull Grel'borg to the cleared area and you should be able to fight him by himself. He was by far the easiest to kill. He wastes his mana (paladin class) throwing lightning bolts at you.

Killing those annoying oracles for the kelp and the elite was pretty easy. The Ogre in alterac is easy too if u dont get any adds. But with mogh i had to get a 60 mage to help. the stupid trolls spawn like tram rats!u gotta be super quick and kill everything and then kill him. while eveything else respawns.i was rdy to kill myself lol.

Make sure and kill the Oracles around the alter SOLO! It does not work in a party. After a party member gets the kelp, re-team summon and kill the mob. You will be able to share in the kill. We found this out after about an hour.

First things first, this quest chain does not give any Ironforge rep, so if that's what you're doing it for, don't bother. Secondly, the drop rate of the enchanted kelp is sucktastic, so as has been said already, do this part first so it's not such a waste of time if you abandon it at this point. Thirdly, make sure you're killing the right murlocs. I admit, I didn't read it properly and was just killing Mirefins, it has to be Mirefin Oracles specifically. Lastly, this is a group quest for a reason. All the boss guys are elites and even doing this on a level 50 druid, it was a bit hairy. I personally don't think the reward is worth it for all the hassle you have to go through: Skull of Impending Doom]

DAGUN (59 9 Dustwallow March.. you need to kill oracles till you get kelb that you have to use on the orb so Dagun will come out of the see

GREL'BORG (36 53) Alterac mountains - Alterac ruins walking from townhall to inside the castle)

MOGH (47 43 Strangletorn vale) - when you attack him there come a crowd so be carefull) His in the back (Mogh was the most diffult for me!)

Just as a side note, Dagun doesn't come out of the altar even though it starts sorta sparkling and then like, freezes and looks like its bugged. he walks around from the side towards you.

ok i read about 10 of these posts, and some of you have a lot of very useful info, but....i dont have coords and use no "addons", so where are the oracle murlocs?

Concerning Dagun and the oracles, go North from Theramore along the shore, the first Island off that shore is where I found most oracles (there arent many of them), took me 3 kills to get the Kelp.
The Altar is placed on the northern most island in the map.
Kill all the surrounding Murlocs before summoning Dagun.
Hes 43 elite giant and I was able to kill him as 45 NE Warrior, had to use bandages to kill him though (Slowed him and ran off to heal, since I had no potions=)
Have fun with it!

I cleared the 'Alter' Island 4 times before reading these comments and then tried out Ysbels' suggestion and left my group. Got the Kelp on the very next kill as solo :|

I know drop rates have been increased for several quests and it took very little time for me to get the kelp required to summon the giant, but do note some of teh complaints below are fairly recent as well.

Ask yourself before you start this if you REALLY want the reward. I've been at the Mirefins now for 1.5 hours and am getting very frustrated, they are grey to me at 48 so i'm not even gaining exp.

I started this quest cause I was doing other quests that were sending me all over the two continents so i figured why not it will be a fun new experience....4 hours later I am now a very crabby Suffeli. Time to abandon....after a few more kills hehe

: No freaking joke after hitting post msg the next kill i get drops the seaweed. I did however want to post anyways because it can take a very very long time to get this item to drop. Dropped at 59,11

it jus tix you off how WoW sometimes messes with your head.... i sure tix me off ill tell you that! i spent hours, as it seemed, searchin for the stupid kelp and with no luck. i turn back and head home and a stupid oracle aggros me and i kill him and wht do ya know! the stupid kelp drops! but ya the spawn rate of the kelp is like .00000001% but it does spawn. just keep killin oracles where the altar is and it will finally drop. the guy is ez to kill... he is a giant so one whack gets alot out of ya... i had ma pet on him until my nightfall kicked in and then it was his demise to come after me.

seriously dont bother the droprate sux and by time u can solo it mobs wont give any xp while u try get the kelp...go figure

They seem to have improved the drop rate. I got the kelp before even cleaning up the murlocs around the alter, which isn't all that necessary. He walks VERY slowly out of the water from the SE. And as a note, the whole thing is on a little island on the border of the barrens.

The Hand was easy to get if you ignore the part about getting the kelp. Took forever for me (solo) to get the freaking kelp. Soloed Dagun easily as a Paladin, lvl 47.

The Star was also easy to solo. Managed to find the guy right when I entered the ruins.

The Heart was a pain in the ass. It's up on a little hill in Zul Mamwe, and the guy is surrounded by creeps that are easy to pull one at a time.

However, the last creep next to him cannot be pulled alone, and Mogh has a human minion that is a healer.

Lvl 49 paladin, and I couldn't take them out. I targeted the little human healer first, but died to Mogh and the other creep. And when you die, Mogh resummons his minion.

tried this 3 times, and then managed to party with 2 mages. Cleared him in less than 5 minutes. Yay, mages.

well i got the kelp after about 5 hrs of killing, summond Dagon and killed him easily as a lvl 47 druid. was it all worth it? probably not but o'well i did it anyways

Do you need to get the items in order?

Iv been killing murlocs for over an hour and no kelp... do i have to kill the ogre first for the star before i can kill the murlocs for the kelp?

I spent an hour with a friend last night trying to get the kelp. No success, of course.

I went back alone, today, and killed 3 oracles. The kelp was on one of the bodies. Then, and this is why I'm posting... I got ANOTHER ONE while clearing the island.

Thanks everyone for their posts. Very helpful. Just did this as a 44 Pally and only took me approx. 45 min total. Got drop on the alter island about the 10th oracle. Then I cleared the area. Once I summoned Dugan I judged him with Seal of Light and Hammer of Justice. Stayed right on top of him so he kept backing up and used Seal of Command until he was almost done, then used Seal of Justice so he would not run away. Had to heal twice, once using protection. Thanks again for all the advice.

I'm saying don't do it alone, not cause it's hard, but cause droprate is ridiculously low. I've killed 140 Oracles around the Altar and still no drop.

If any of you alliance on Burning Steppes find Enchanted Sea Kelp please send me message so i can join you to overkill mob.

Don't do this quest. It's absolutely miserable. I've spent over an hour now trying to get the Enchanted Sea Weed to drop so I can summon Degun. I'm just giving up now, with hardly any money or experience to even show for it the last hour.

Ok...Here is my guide as I complete this quest. First of all, I read all of the posts and found a few flaws, thus why I decided to post this. So far, I have obtained the Hand of Dagun...I did this first as the other posts seemed to make this sound difficult...it isn't. I did this as a 47 shadowpriest and did is solo with the buffs of shadowform, fortitude, Inner fire, and the occassional Power Word Shield to buy time to heal myself.

Ok....the enchanted sea kelp...didnt seem that difficult to obtain. You have to clear the mobs around the alter before summoning Dagun...in just doing this act I got 3 drops of the kelp (drops off Oracles only). I picked up one and used it on the alter once the immediate surrounding area was cleared.

Dagun comes from the beach behind the hut closest to the alter itself. I died in my first attempt in killing him, but that was because I hadn't done this quest before and got a few adds when I pulled him towards me - please note, I did not pull him the second time. Once back, I had to reclear a few of the repops, cleared a path to the beach and got another kelp from one of the repops, good thing as the others had rotted before I got back. I used it on alter and rushed the beach behind the hut and attacked Dagun in the water - I noticed this prevented from getting adds too.

I started my attack with Vamparic Embrace, Pain, Mind Blast (only once to save mana) and kept attacking with a shadow spell wand....repeated pain as needed and kept using the wand.

I used shield and full heals in that order to heal myself....saving desperate prayer when my mana was less than 30%. I used the last of my mana to do my second mind blast and killed him. Seemed much easier than others had indicated on their posts.

I'll post how I did the other parts of this quest as I complete them

NOTE: I hunted for seakelp on the other islands with a 52 druid....no drop in 45 minutes...went back to the "alter island" (my nickname for it), dropped 4 in clearing the alter of surrounding oracles - I want to say luck, but the drop rate for two characters in the same area seem to show a preferential dropsite for the kelp in my opinion

For those who get sick of nonsense posting I am making a one stop posting of this quest.No bullsh*t of I soloed it , it was easy , it was hard blah blah blah yackity shmackity !

Star of Xil'Yeh can be found by killing "GREL'BORG" he can be found in the Alterac Ruins his loaction is ... 36,35

Hand of Dagun can be found by killing "Dagun The Ravenous" he can be found in Dust Mallow Marsh his location is ... 59,9

The Legacy Heart can be found by killing "Mogh The Undying" he can be found in Stragnlethorn Vale his location is ... 47,43

And do understand co ords are not exact these monster move about but it will get you in the ball park.

All these loactions are co ords used with cosmos but I am pretty sure which add on you use doesnt matter all that much ;)

As far as strategies go... do what you will and what you must, not all of us are the same type of chars or classes and all have their own methods and skills and styles they use, so to type that info down is waste of time and space ...mine and yours.

Took me 30 mins of full clearing the murlocs until I decided to relog. Then after the 6th oracle I finally got the Enchanted Sea Kelp

An hour and a half, and no Enchanted Sea Kelp. This is ridiculous. I can't stand quests that rely on a next to impossible item drop.

I created an account on wowhead just to tell you not to bother with this quest.
~40 minutes of farming, and no drop.
No one is having fun with this quest. If you want a quest to be somewhat exclusive, make a long chain of quests with interesting story etc, don't make us farm murlocs for eternity, you're Blizzard for crying out loud.
