Bring a group for this one. The mobs are in their own section of Stromgarde, in the southwest. To find their section, head into Stromgarde and look to the right. You should see an entryway into an area full of Alliance guards. Keep moving south from that, but bear right (not up the ramp).

In the ogre area, you need to be ready for patrols as well as ogres that run when their health is low. You will see Shamans early on, but the Lords are further in. There are other elite mobs here as well, so bring food/water and friends. I recommend you find a good spot that has two or three of each mob and just farm that area for your kills. Remember that the further you go in, the more you have to kill to get out unless you hearth.

So using the backwall hole; me and a rogue (myself level 36 and him a level 37) with my Raptor. We manged to easlly do this quest. The trick is to stay up in the block and pull.. it takes more time BUT.. you get 3 Shaman, 2 Lords, and 3 Maulers (Bonus exp.. we were getting 260 exp each for the kills).

It seems that the XP given by Shamans was not changed. They are giving about 415XP, while the Lords are giving about 225XP. Nice bug.

Yeah, as of 2.3 they nerfed almost all elites not found in instances, it is far easier, and it is a good idea to go around through the back to kill these ogres, especially if you are a caster or hunter who has ranged attacks.

if you do decide to go around back and in through the hole, make sure not to jump into the chimney. You will get stuck and have to hearth out! I spent 10 mins getting there and my hearth was in grom'gul. Not fun!

Went in the back through the hole...be careful when you're walking around the keep though...if you fall in the water, it's game over or a long swim back to where you can get back on land and try again :(. Didn't have too much trouble as a 38 Holy Priest...just shielded.....Alot.

For those of you using the hole in the wall at (21, 70) I suggest hugging the outside wall from the western side and following it all the way around. The eastern side is too steep to climb. I actually took a long time figuring this out.

I was able to solo this with a lvl 36 Blood Elf paladin, though i didn't know about the hole out back, so I wasted about an hour grinding my way through from the front gates. To get here, when you enter Stromgarde go left then go right, you should be going down an alley and should see 2 witherbark trolls. If you see Stromgarde Defenders then your in the wrong place!

When doing this quest don't take any shortcuts. Kill all patrols! because once you die, i don't care where you are. You will never find a safe place to rez.

You actually have to go around the RIGHT side of Stromgard to see this. Be aware though getting up the hills right by the back entrance is extremely annoying.

Soloed this in about 5 mins (lvl 39 troll shammy). Ran round RIGHT side of stromgarde to the hole in the wall (It is on the back, just around the corner) Then killed 2 shammys and a lord from on the ledge then jumped down to kill the rest. Ranged attacks work well with the shammys. 2 Lords came at once, both lvl 40, but as a shammy I just put down a damage totem and a distraction totem. Quite an easy quest, just be careful not to agrro anything unnecessarily. Good Luck!!

Can be soloed with a lvl 37 warrior and a littlle patience. I went around the right, went through the hole in the wall, and stayed on the ledge pulling 1 particular shaman and 1 particular lord and waiting for the respawns. If you luck out you'll get Or'Kalar's head for the "The Real Threat" quest.

If you go to the LEFT of Stromgarde you'll come to a spot directly below the "hole". Hug the right side of the rocks, then when you get as high as you can cross over to the left, you'll be able to get in the "hole" with no worries of the water.

The respawn rate here is seemingly very high. You will not be able to rez inside the ogres' area, so you'll have to fight your way through every time should you die in the area - and you will likely die soloing at below the suggested level 40, especially if you're a clothie.

And as others have said, DO NOT fall in the water while going round the back! It's a pain in the ass. You can't get back up the cliff, so you'll have to swim back around and try again.

Soloed this AND The Real Threat in one go as a 36 Mage, died once directly after killing Or'Kar for the latter quest and that was it once I got into the area proper.

You don't have to go through the front doors of the Stormgarde Keep. If you follow the outside wall on the east side, you will come to a hole in the wall at the very rear of the Keep. This opens up to a ledge right above the mobs you need to kill to finish this quest. This way you don't have to fight your way in.

To climb the hill is very difficult, the hill you can get up is the last one before you get to the water. We thought it couldn't be done but then finally someone got up.
To get up start on left go up as far are you can then move up and to the right to the next point that you can get up then move up and to the left again.

Also it is 38 to 39 elite orges, they can be pulled one at a time if you are careful. It was a lv 52 Mage and 34 Rogue and it was still very hard.

The Lords are real tough. Took me a while to figure out the trick. When they go into bezerk mode or whatever (their hands glow red), you can strike and then run away to level back up some - they're very slow when in Bezerk mode. So hit em, run back, rejuice, and jump back in as he's slowly walking to you. Wiped them pretty easy after that.

at location 21,70 hole in the wall as mentioned by others i found to be the best location. We stood ontop of the wall and pulled them one at a time, they of course can magically jump up the 20' wall to you.

For the Shamen we would hit them with a ranged attack and then ran back outside the wall and around the corner so they were forced to run up to the break in the wall. Then we would tie into them. 33 Warlock, 38 Rogue & 33 Hunter. We did this with all the shamen and all the Lords. We did have some time to wait for respawns but it was well worth it.

We attempted going down into the courtyard to fight but the aggro circle and lack of an exit if overpowered soon showed us to go back and use our origianal method.

Side note: the 40 Elite Lords were cosistantly hitting us for between 350 & 450 damage per strike so bring potions or as a rogue keep stunning them.

Soloed as a level 40 rogue...not real easy, but never died. Stunlock is the way to go with the lords, just stick to using gouge when they zerk and kidney shot. Just be defensive with the lords, don't go tit for tat with 'em, and gouge when they zerk. And take off poisons and anything else that might add DOT so it doesn't interrupt your gouge. It might take a little longer, but you take a lot less damage, trust me. Shammies are a cake walk...cs, bs, kick, ss, ks, and unload. Be uber careful when you look for patroling patterns on the maulers. Don't be afraid to be picky when you have to. Or just do what I did, and pull/sap/assassinate maulers. A little bit o' planning will go a long way!

When looking at the Keep go to the RIGHT, then HUG the wall at all times and follow it around. * It will seem like you will fall off but you won't, there will be a break in the wall, and you are in. Then follow the directions shown above for pulling lords, and others for fighting...hope this helps really easy to get in this way...

There is a hole in the side of the wall, around the back of the keep. Follow the outside wall to the east from enterance. Coords:21,70

When you see the hole, keep traveling south a bit and you will see the mountain side on a walkable slope(bout 10yards from the hole)...also soloed with lvl 42 Shadow Priest (died twice)

The quest was downgraded, now you need 7 shamans and 3 lords. And they arent elite anymore. Lots easier, maybe too easy.

soloed with a 38 druid. died once. once you get in from the whole in the wall go as far left as you can. you'll see a lone lord and some shamans. pick them off one-by-one

Completed this quest fairly easy as a lvl 38 warlock. I went to 20,70 by going around the back...no idea why I went that way. Stayed on the wall and killed 3 and 5...needed 2 more Shaman's so I dropped down...big mistake! Lucky I had my rez stone. Got 2 more Shaman's then tried running out (couldn't make it back up the wall), bigger mistake. After dying that 2nd time, just spirit rez'd since I already had all my kills. If you have the patience, just do all your kills on top the wall, do NOT drop down. If not, make Hammerfall your hearthstone point.

They're not elites anymore, they're regular monsters. They're lvls range from 38-40. I went in by the WEST side of the wall in the little opening.

Simple as 38 fury warrior. Pummel shaman and stance-dance disarm the lords. Thank god they're non-elite now.

I was able to solo this as a 36 feral druid without dying. I'm not sure if the quest got nerfed or what. The mobs are normal ogres spanning from level 37 to 40. It wasn't necessary to use the hole in the wall that others have mentioned. Just go in the gate, take the first right and then the first left. This will take you right to them without having to fight anyone else. Watch out for multiple aggroes, I got up to four at a time. This should be completed alongside the quest "The Real Threat" which asks you to bring back Or'Kalar's head.

ive looked at these posts and saw the lowest lv was a 33 able to try it. I did it at lv 32 MM blood elf hunter. I found that trying to use the wall was not needed just follow nijszoe post and it will help

If you do decide to use what has been said above and go around, make sure that if you also decide to jump down to avoid the fireplace/chimney thats below. I was unlucky and did and couldn't get back out of it. >_> Waste of hearth FTL.

I got the Sword of Hammerfall Quest right before this said quest.

There is one Elite along the West wall...a 42 to be exact...at least there was about two min ago.

The rest are not Elites, and I had no problem getting in from the West round about or the front entrance...haven't tried to get in through the East yet.

When you accept this quest to kill the Elite ogres in Stromgarde Keep, also take the quest from his wife (Korin Fel): 'The Real Threat'.

Or'Kalar (along with 4 or 5 buddies) is in the same area in Stromgarde.

I just completed this quest, and since it's not clear from the above I'll add the following: (Level 48 Blood Elf Hunter for reference)

If you approach Stromguard by following the edge of the mountains to the west of the fort, you will eventually come to the fortress wall. There is a small ledge you can follow (counter-clockwise) the wall around. At about 21, 70 there is a break in the wall, which allows you to directly access the part of the fort where the Lords, Shaman, and many Maulers are. Inside the fort there is another small ledge I followed around till I came to a ramp which led me directly to the mobs. I worked my way through the area until I got my quota.

To leave I fought back to the ramp, and jumped back up to the small ledge (you have to "abuse" game mechanics just a bit here; you jump around a small corner by jumping and pushing into the wall and you land still up on the small ledge to take you back out). In and out, and quest completed in about 40 minutes.

I was planning on doing this quest and I just noticed the reward. I just got dagger skill from a good dagger i got, but now with this it'll be amazing. I'd say its definately worth doing the quest just for that.

Think its doable for a 36 hunter?

There is a break in the wall as stated above, located about 4 o'clock (with 6 o'clock being the front entrance). However, using it is not the best way to the ogres. It is best to go straight into the front and down the street to the first cross street, then right one block. (Only a few guards will be around to fight in this area.) Then take a left at the first street before the archway. You will likely see an orgre walking along this street. Follow/kill him and keep going to the end where there is a down ramp with a couple of guys to kill. At that point, you can turn 90 degrees to the right and behold a whole townful of lvl 39-40 ogres of several kinds, and the battle really begins. I did this as 36 lvl lock and got killed about 10 times before I got it done. The main problem I had was trying to rez in a place where I didn't get whacked immediately. Those ogres were everywhere! Good luck.

Found a great trick to solo this quest. It'll work best for range classes but melee may be able to do it too.

You wanna head all the way in the back to exactly 17.56, 66.69. There is a ledge you can climb onto and jump down from. If you aggro one of the ogres, let's say, from the top, you can hit them and when they get to you, jump down. They'll run all the way around the wall to get back to you, and when they do, just jump back on the ledge. Rince and repeat.

It is the safest way I've found to kill them. It works best with the Boulderfist Lords, since when they enrage, they go slower, but you can also kill the Boulderfist Shamans using this trick.

I did the quest as a solo lvl 39 hunter, without any pet. It takes a long time to complete if you're alone, so I recommend finding a group, but you can try this out as a last resort.
