Be warned, when you activate the secret place (no spoilers here :P) 5 pirates spawn around you, all of them level 44 - 45. What I did was run into the mountains right after activating the next quest step and pull one of them, which dropped the key for me.

First, go to the spot (Lowerest, right corner of Tanaris). There you must find something like anchor with a chest near it.
Second, open the chest and then 5 mobs will appear (they are grouped different).
Third, kill the mobs and 1 will drop key. Open the chest with it and complete the quest.

Rewards are Cuergo's Gold (Drink), some junk stuff and two items, at least green ones.

So, you can get quite a few green items if you are patient. Get enough drops from the pirates to make 5 complete maps.

Go down to the area and click on the landmark to start the event. Run away before they spawned pirates can aggro you. Since I was a mage it was easy for me to kill them all with AoE. I think their average level was about 44-45. Loot only one of the bodies for the key, go open Cuergo's lockbox and loot the box you get from completing the quest. Click on another of the maps to start the quest again. Go back and loot one of the other bodies that still haven't been looted, they will have the key again. Repeat until all your maps have been used up.

Just a note for those trying to get down to that lowest peninsula of land in tanaris to finish this quest, you have to swim around the mountains starting in the mid east section of the map and you'll come out down south.

It's worth mentioning that the treasure site is surrounded by L50 hostile turtles. If you are in your low 40s, bring friends or wait until you are closer to 50 because the turtles are unavoidable.

I found the screenshot location at 51,91. I am using Titanpanel's chords. The area is also surrounded by level 48-50 aggressive turtles called "Surf Gliders". A total of 5 "Treasure Hunting" pirates spawned in two groups. One group consisted of two mobs the other 3 mobs. I pulled the one group of two mobs and the other 3 proceeded to run away into the ocean.

I soloed this as a 46 Warrior. After i found the anchor, i ran away from it and waited for the mobs to leave. I shot one of them with my gun and pulled 3. I killed them and got Cuergo's Key, and opened the chest. It has some green and blue items in the box, and Cuergo's Gold with Worm.

This quest is a great way to get ahold of auctionable items fast. I brought with me 2 completed maps. First clicked the anchor and ran (yes it's possible and very easy to get away before they spawn, at least with aspect of the cheetah) then took out just one of the pirates, looted and got the key for the treasure. Then accepted the quest to do again from the second completed map and repeated same strategy. In 2 minutes i received 4 greens and the blue item "Wirt's Third Leg" which landed me about a total of 40 gold. Next time i will bring many more completed maps as this was a very effortless way to get fast cash.

All done solo as a lvl 43 Blood Elf Hunter.

The Inconspicious Landmark is located at 53.1 , 95.9 and you right click on it to 'summon' 5 pirates. Move out of the way as they run towards the mark and a box will appear, you need a key to open this box and they drop off one of the pirates.

After running to the landmark, they will run back to a certain location, there you can draw the mobs 3 at a time or 2 at a time depending on your luck. This quest doesn't give any exp.

NOTE: Remember to kill the turtles very near to the area as they might interfere. Use any CC you have against the mobs when you fight them simultaneously.

If you still can't find the right place or how to get there here is how you do it : First move to 63.63 and then swim all the way down to around 60.86. The treasure is located exactly at 54.95. And for the love of god, do NOT die because you are gonna do a looooong run back from Gadzetzan. Use stealth or stay away from the turtles if you are low level. Now let's say you are ok and safe now and standing at the right point and you can open the treasure. Immediately when you try to open it and the "opening " bar fills full, around 8-10 pirates will come, in groups of 2. Me , as a warrior, i used retaliation to counter all mobs but it just wasn't enough. You MUST run As fast as possible to any safe direction. After that , try to pull very carefully a single pirate and loot him for the key

This was quest was kinda hard to get to. It took a long time and it requires some patients. I ended up getting 2 green items a sword and a shield. I wanted to get Wirt's Third Leg but that doesn't drop as often.

Fun quest with decent rewards, but rather annoying. Overall, it's worth it. Used 2 maps in one trip and walked away with 4 decent greens and some vendor trash. The pirates that come out to protect don't drop that bad either, at least another 10s or so.

There are two locations in which I found with the Landmark: one at 50,90 and another at 54,95. I used 54, 95 and only encountered 50,90 when searching the area after completing the quest, so I cannot confirm whether it can be used or not, but it looks identical to the other.

Anyways, when tackling this quest, find the landmark and search it. As far as I know the only way to reach it is swimming and walking on the shore to the east of the mountain range. When you search the landmark, 5 pirates will come out in a pattern somewhat like an "S". If you have AoE skills, take them out quick and easy. If you don't, such as a Rogue, take out the corners to kill them with 3 on 1 and 2 on 1 fights. Not too difficult. Most threatening thing is a turtle joining the fight, so take care of them beforehand.

Once you kill them, get a key and open the chest. You should get about 2 green items, with a chance at some rares, and a total of 5-6 items, so have some space ready or open it once your in town to vendor off some stuff.

This place is a pain to reach, so I suggest having some method of teleporting out, such as a Hearthstone, to avoid making the trip twice: once in and once out. If you die, then that's yet another trip, so be cautious and don't take any risks.

I did this fairly easily as a 42 lock.. coords for me were 50.7-90.8. basically i activated the structure, and when it was done opening i ran as far as I could.. the 2 groups eventually quit chasing me. I came back and attacked the group of 2 lvl44s which dropped the key. This quest is easy for low levels if you play it smart and dont aggro the turtles.

I just did that quest last night. The "how to" part of the quest is described by the posters above. Two items of interest are:

- The beach is full of lvl 48-49 sea turtles (all hostile - not neutral as most turtles are in Tanaris) and it is a nice place to farm for leather without getting much disturbance from the other LW farmes.

- Everytime you open the chest the loot changes. I noticed this accidently. When I first got the chest, it had some silver, two green items (one was a lvl 45 "...of the Bear" type mail leggings), and two grey items inside (two maces). I did not have space in my bags so I kept the items inside the chest and hearthed to IF. In IF, I emptied my bags and opened the chest again to get the items - and what do you know? I still had two grey and green items but they had changed to head band (greys) and "...of the something other than Bear" leather pants. The other one was a recipe. Sorry I do not remember what it was previouosly.

I am not sure whether the items are completely randomly generated or rolled from a specific pool but you can keep opening the chest until you get something you like :-)

Did last night, it was alot of fun. everything above is right on concerning location and the mob. I used a lvl 46 pally and had no problem with mob. my drops were some off stuff, 2 green and scematics for sniper scope. just lucky i guess, scope worth 50-90 gold. Drops must be changed since patch. Makes me wish i was an engineer lol

Also something that the top of this forum or whatever you call it doesnt mention, There are lvl 49-50 turtles everywhere around the chest, so you got to clear some them out first before you go to dig the spot. This quest was really hard for me cus I couldnt run away cus of all the turtles and the 5 enemies that spawn there when the chest comes stabbing me in the back making me move slow. The second one is easier, more room and the turtles are further, also if you are doing multiple of them at a time, only loot ONE pirate, get the key, open, complete, start a new one and repeat, once the mobs spawn you cannot loot the marker for a new wave until the chest despawns.

Edit: This is very easy for mages AoE grinding, only 5 mobs about the same strength as pirates you would be grinding anyways (Like I was)

Incredibly hard quest. 6 mobs spawn upon you right-clicking the object. I was lucky to be a Warlock with a Voidwalker out and barely survived after using all cooldowns. I think you only need to really kill one then die if you are unable to solo all of them. Just look that person afterward and then right-click the chest.

At such a low level, it was actually more difficult getting to the chest than handling the following pirates. (as the turtles around it are lvls 48-50)

The pirates are all melee types with no disturbing special attacks, so normal aoe-grinding tactics work well, and they are easy if u manage to pull 2-3 at a time.

Did it as a lvl 50 Warlock with Felguard, went in killed three ran after felguard died :( came back with new felguard, killed remaining two, looted them and opened the box. Had I've known that you could back up and they'd run away I totally would have done it, but instead I elected to take all 5 at once lol. I didnt really get anything special, but if you go back and repeat it its an easy way to get a couple of greens. I got:

45s, 2 x A Wooden Leg, Journeyman's Backpack, Cuergo's Gold and Tracker's Shoulderpads of the Bear. An okay run but for the amount of time it took really wasnt worth it.

If I had thought ahead I would have gotten more map fragments so I could really take advantage of it.

Ok, something i'd just like to make clear here. The first time i came here to get info on the quest, i saw the coords, did a quick read and saw, " o cake quest" blah blah blah....

As a lvl 47 shaman, this wasnt easy. 3, count'em 3 deaths later, i came back here to read more. YOU CANNOT SOLO ALL 5 MOBS AT ONCE. THEY WILL KILL YOU IN A HEARTBEAT. Unless of course you are 50+.

On my server a lot of the fragments are up online because no one wants to make the trek down to the spot. I ended up buying out enough pieces to make 5 maps. When you initially summon the chest and the pirates show up, kill them to the best of your ability but DO NOT LOOT them all. Loot one at a time and then open the chest, use the map to start the quest again, and then loot another. The key will be on the corpse as long as you have the quest. This way you only have to clear them out once.

one of the drops from the chest, Wirt's Third Leg, is possibly a reference to a character from Diablo, another Blizzard game. Wirt was a kid with a wooden leg who, in the first Diablo, would sell things. In Diablo II, you could loot his body for Wirt's Leg, which was part of making the portal to the mythical Cow Level. Also, the comment above is not true, the landmark was at the bottom of the beach with no less than 5 turtles around it.

This is a bit of an Easter Egg, a pun on the Cuervo Gold brand tequila, right down to the "Cuergo's Gold with Worm" drink you can get as part of the treasure, which references the agave worm found in real bottles of tequila.

That alone makes this quest worth doing, if you ask me. :D

As of the latest patch, this quest is an exercise in total frustration.

First of all, 4 pirates spawned, not 5. They're tightly grouped, and just stand there by the chest. If you pull one, all 4 will attack. I did this quest with my lvl 51 NE Rogue, and she was no match for them all at once ~ they use Disarm a lot. Even with Vanish to save her life, all the pirates did was run back and stand by the chest again.

After dying on the second try, and running back to find that everything had reset, I tried again, and managed to kill three of the pirates before the fourth killed my Rogue. I ran back from the graveyard as quickly as possible (there is a graveyard closer than Gadget, but it's still quite a haul), looted the corpses, got the key...BUT, the chest was gone. As I no longer had a map, I could not re-spawn the pirates and chest.

Abandoning the quest was no help: Still no map, and now no key, either. I give up.

I really really hate this stupid quest! Lol I was so excited when I found the map, it was kinda obvious where it was talking about, but when I got there and spawned the five lvl 45's I was killed instantly. I went back and was subsequently killed four different times. I then dropped 9 gold on major healing potion and 1000 increase armor potion, went back, and was still killed. Lol I'm a lvl 44 hunter, so I suck at mêlée range, and they won't stay far enough back for me to range attack them. I hate this. I'll try again in 20 lvls.

The landmark can be found on the 'Lands end beach'. The most south east point that is sticking out of the land, 57,90.
When u activate the landmark 5 Treasurehunters will attack you all of them 44-45 lvl they drop the key to the quest. Droprate 99%, so you will be quickly ready with that.
My advice is: Kill one or two, loot them, run and then return to complete the quest.

This quest was loads of fun. :) The riddle was great.
Also note - if you're going for the Exploration Achievement in Tanaris you might as well buy some map pieces off the AH or kill pirates. You have to go to "Land's End Beach" anyway. :)

Oh! If you're doing the cooking quest this is a great place to get Zesty Clam Meat as it drops off the turtles, as a plus, no one ever goes there! So usually the turtles are all alive, and there are plenty there to get the meat you need for the quest.

I`ve just happened to find the map and did the quest. I just chose the pirate from amongst the 8 mobs came to the treasure and killed one with my lvl 43 rogue. Took the key then vanished. Then a surf *!@#$% saw me and they butchered me :\ Anyway I then returned to the place of the treasure and all those mobs were gone so was the treasure. I had to destroy the key in my inventory to re-use the landmark there then I re-used the landmark to get the treasure and then got another key waited for the pirates to die but at the same second the treasure was gone once again... I gave up trying after that -.-'

Note: Surf $%^&*!s love that treasure landmark I guess. 2 of them rushes to the place every 25-30 secs.

This will be the information EVERYONE would like to know.

How & Where:
To get this chest or quest, you will have to kill pirates East of Tanaris. These pirates are the ones you kill for Steamweedle Port quests, and their location is on the East side of Caverns of Time.

Items required:
To get the items for the quest, you will have to keep killing the pirates until a Pirate's Footlocker. It has a 3.9% drop rate, these Footlockers will give you map fragments, depending on your luck, you may get Lower Map Fragment OR Middle Map Fragment OR Upper Map Fragmentwhich will combine by right clicking one of them into Cuergo's Treasure Map.

Right clicking this Quest Item will begin this quest: Cuergo's Gold

For this Quest, you will need to venture all the way south of Tanaris, you will need to swim along the coast and mountains for abit, before reaching the EXACT PLACE where you can get your Cuergo's Hidden Treasure.

Level recommended 45+

Reason 1:
There are about 4 Surf GIider level 50 guarding the place.

Reason 2:
5 pirates ranging from level 44-45 will spawn upon opening the "Landmark".

Reason 3:
You will need to kill 1 of the pirates to get Cuergo's Key in order to open the chest.

How to do it:
I did it with my 42 druid. What I did was stealth to the "Landmark", then wait til the turtles are far enough so I won't aggro them and begin opening, once it is opened, the chest and the 5 pirates spawned, I shapshifted and ran back towards the mountain to prevent aggroing ANYTHING.

I pulled 3 of the 5 pirates and took them down slowly in bear form, then I loot the key from one of the mobs.

HOWEVER, the chest and the 2 remaining pirates DESPAWNED. So, I reopened the "Landmark" again, 5 pirates and the chest then respawn, restealthed, then went straight for the chest without pulling any of them. Complete the quest, got my chest, and hearthed out.

This should definitely be listed as a Group Quest at this point; eight pirates are spawning, not five. I don't know too many classes/specs that can solo eight mobs their own level, all at once. If you run away and only pull part of them, that's a different story, but you're only going to know to do that if you've read these comments. For people simply playing the game, eight level 45 mobs is going to be one hell of a surprise.

Now it's harder, with all the 5 mobs in a group, as already mentioned.
But I wonder if it will work to use hurricane as a druid?

If you have a potion that will protect you from damage for 10 seconds or so, you can use hurricane in that area, and they will have about 50% hp left. Now you can probably kill all of them with a little healing, or another hurricane or just moonfire one of them to death, and loot it. I don't know if you can open the chest while in combat, but if you can, then open chest and run away.

I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it works, but I shall try later.

What you can do for a few easy greens is grind pirates til you have a couple completed maps (or buy them off the AH). Then run down to the landmark and kill all 5 pirates BUT ONLY LOOT ONE. Use that key to open the chest and complete the quest.

Then, start the quest again with another map, and loot another pirate for another key and turn in the quest.

Repeat as many as 5 times before you need to wait for the chest to despawn and click the landmark again. =)

This quest bugged on me. I got killed by one of the pirates. By the time I got back to the landmark as a ghost, the chest had despawned, but the pirate's body was there. I looted it and got the key...but there's no chest to open!

Fix if this happens to you is to delete Cuergo's Key...you can then re-trigger the landmark

WORD TO THE WISE:

When I attempted to do this quest, the 5 spawning mobs who drop the key were too much for me. I managed to kill one of the mobs but died to the rest, looted the key and ran back. Little did I know the object for the pirates treasure wouldn't be there anymore. So i'm guessing once you have the quest item you cant summon the mobs anymore who drop the key. I destroyed the key and I was able to click to summon the mobs again, so dont panic.

If, for some reason, you happen to die while doing this quest, you're most likely screwed. What happened to me was that I had to run a hell of a long way and when I finally got back, I couldn't interact with the landmarks and the chest was nowhere to be seen. I had the key and the quest in my log said "complete, Cuergo's Key 1/1", and I can't return it anywhere (I looted the key before I died).

so i just did this quest on my 43 lock.....a little difficult taking on a bunch of 49's and 50 turtles; not to mention five 44-45. i had the same problem with the disappearing chest too but i just dropped the key and did it again. The easiest way is probably to kill one of the pirates to get the key then fear to open the chest without having to kill all of them and run away.....kind of frustrating quest, but it was pretty cool

Well I wasted a map and a trip here.
I went AFK just after opening the landmark, when I got back the mobs were gone and I couldn't click on the landmark again, quiet annoying.

So remember if you need to go AFK don't do it halfway through opening the chest lol.

If you loot the key, but don't open the chest in time, everything despawns and you get stuck... no landmark to click, no chest, no nothing. The way round it is to delete the key (NOT the quest) from your inventory keyring. The landmark becomes clickable, and off you go - you have to restart by killing a pirate for the key, but it's better than ditching the quest entirely!

Amazingly easy as a lvl 54 druid in dire bear form.
My plan was killing one, loot, run like crazy, heal me, go back and open the chest and run away again, but I had already killed one and my health was almost full (I had healed myself once) so I continued killing. I kill them all without losing more than half my health.

I actually never fight in bear form, so I was surprised to see that some attacks cause damage to all of them. I loved that!

I tried this quest when I was level 45-46 something. I died lots of times, but now it was the easiest thing ever.

This quest can be repeetet as many times you like, if you grind more maps. i just completet the quest 4 times.
You just need to get enough Upper, middle and Lower map fragments, Just sample them go the completion spot and stard one of them, and when you completet it you just do the same again.

For me it didn't just spawn 5 pirates, it spawned 8 level 44-45 and that makes it a wee bit more difficult. But as a prot paladin I survived using all cooldowns and got the amazing loot with two greens with spirit on them. Yay...or? :)

As of posting, this quest still appears to have some bugs. Similar to other posters, I died at the hands of the pirates but not before killing a couple. After returning from the graveyard, I looted the key from one of the pirates. Unfortunately, there is no "Pirate's treasure" to complete at. Quest shows as complete in my log. I have placed a ticket. Very frustrating to come this far out of the way to complete this quest, only to have it be bugged.

Update: Apparently the "Pirate's Treasure" is on a despawn timer. If you don't complete after a certain period of time has lapsed since you first attempted to open it, it will not be there. The only way to complete this at this point is to abandon the quest and recollect the pieces of the map to start over. Not worth the time/effort to do twice.

What did I do wrong? I'm a lvl 47 warlock. I tried to open the chest and the 5 guys appeared. I backed way off and let my voidwalker take the heat for a bit. I then hit one of the group with a spell that caused him to come after me. I killed him. By this time my voidwalker was dead, but I was far enough away that the survivors didn't come after me. I looted the body and got the key. I backed off and waited to recover. When I moved back to try to approach the chest, the rest of the pirates were dead. The chest was not there. The quest reported that I had the key and had completed the quest, but there is no key in my inventory. I use Questhelper which tellls me that I need to go to a spot on the beach to turn in the quest, but there is nothing there. Whithout completing that part, I dont get the XP. Anyone got a clue what's up?

Just did this quest for the first time since I leveled my shaman (so over 2 years). This time I'm on my lvl 53 Boomkin. I had forgotten how many pirates spawn, and when I was almost beaten to death by the five spawns and one turtle, I was forced to Shadowmeld with about 140 health left and no pirates down. Problem was, the pirates decided to stand around right where I was hidden. Two minutes later - shifted to Travel Form, ran, Shadowmeld again. When I tried to pick them off one at a time, I got the whole group. Even with Barkskin, five mobs beating on you will take you down quickly. Managed to kill two of them before I had to jump back to Travel Form and escape. Thankfully the first one I killed had the key and I could get the heck out of Dodge afterwards.

Solod very easily as a 45 prot pally. the most frustrating part is just getting there after that's it's smooth sailing. once they appeared i just consecrated. after all were kill i had a pile including the pirates and a couple of the turtles. quest rewards really aren't worth it imo. but drops are random so i may have just been unlucky.

Someone completed this quest right in front of me whilst i was clearing some turtles, and I waited for a long time for the 'Inconspicuous Landmark' to respawn.

Turns out if someone has just used the landmark, it will spawn at another place on Land's End Beach, so don't wait around for it like I did. xD

Solo'd as a level 43 Prot Pally with little trouble.

After reading all the comments here, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to take four - five pirates as a level 48 shadow priest. It was actually rather easy.

I ended up getting two level 45s and three level 44s.

I stepped back a bit then pulled all five by throwing shadow word: pain on one, followed by the rest of them. I then psychic screamed and took one down. Priests: Keep your shield up and use psychic scream the second it comes off the cooldown.

I did use a mana potion and went out of shadowform to heal once, but it wasn't necessary.

Ok, On all my chars I struggled @ L40-42 with this........BUT , I finally rolled a NE Rogue(L.42 & Combat), and I must say this ques was really easy.

What I did:
waited for all my Cd's to be ready.
Ok be sure to click on stealth as soon as you have clicked the flag, walk backwards as the 5 pirates will be storming from the sea.I then distracted the bunch to face the ocean. sap one closest to me choose one other, cheapshot, and use normar rotation, but also activate your blade flurry & evation.
As soon as 1st Pirate is dead LOOT dont try to be Superman, your wearing Leather!
Anyway, immediatly after you looted the key use Vanish and walk back wards.........eat/bandage!
Stealth.
Distract all again to face ocean, hand in quest and and do shadowmeld (Horde can just wait for their vanish to cd or just die after getting the reward) what ever you choose. Just a reminder that your hp will need to be full as they will be pounding away at you whilst handing the quest in!

Hope this help all the rogues who find this quest hard.

Okay, here's how to do this as a shadow priest assuming you're in your mid 40's, as you're likely to be when you get this.

First: When you activate the quest, run from the spawn points of the pirates. Get as far as you can and they MIGHT not aggro you immediately. If they do, run off, they don't chase for long.

Once that's done, they'll still be spawned. Mind Control one (This is best done with Shadow Reach talent, they can aggro a little closer then max range at 46) and the four buddies around will proceed to murder it, then chase you. Run off, they don't follow long, as mentioned earlier.

Go back, mind control a second one, it'll get killed. At this point the group is 3 and is most likely soloable to a shadow priest of appropriate level. If not, you can always run off and repeat the mind control step.

Easily soloed as 46-lvl mage. Mana and frost shields, frost nova'ed 5 pirates, killed all of them with one frost storm and one cone of frost.

This quest definitely appears to still be bugged. I think the idea was for the pirates and the chest to despawn in the same amount of time it would take your ghost to race back there, and this forces you to click the landmark again. However, I noticed the chest despawns along with the pirates. On my fourth try, with mana shield up, killed 2 pirates with blizzard and a few arcane explosions, and suddenly the pirates I'm still fighting drop to the ground and fade. Looted the key off of one of my kills, but the chest was gone too.

Currently waiting for a GM to answer my ticket. Since every other quest item sticks around until you either kill off the mobs or give up, it's ridiculous to have to delete the key, buy some more mana pots, and hope to luck out against 4 to 10 mobs (the spawn amount is variable) in under 2 mins.

Once the quest is accepted from the item, the item (map) will be consumed; be careful therefore and do not abandon the quest once accepted or else you will loose the quest and the item is no longer in your bag.

Also, if you are doing this few times in a row there is a timer on the object which spawns treasure hunters, you will have to wait 5min(?) between each time.

If you have multiple maps and are doing this, only loot one pirate, get the kef, open the chest. Then click the next map to start the quest again. Loot the next pirate, which will now drop a key, loot the chest, repeat.

If you loot all the pirates at the start, only the first will drop the key. I you wait to loot till you are on the "next" quest, you can get up to 5 map quests done at once, and not have to wait for the landmark to respawn.

Terrible quest. Not only is a level 45 quest surrounded by level 50 hostile turtles, they are so densely packed and have a huge wander radius that you have to clear a huge area fast just to ensure you don't get adds. Add the fact that the spawns don't split so you have to take on 5 level 45s at the same time. I had the pirates, but at the last second a turtle came and killed me.

Just skip this unless you're above 45. I did all the other 45/46 quests easily but this one is ridiculous. It doesn't give experience or lore achievement anyway.

3rd attempt, another stupid turtle, spirit rezzed.

Another alternative if you're like me and came all the way to the middle of nowhere to be left empty handed, clear the turtles with your 80 first. Just take the CoT portal from Dalaran and you're right there.

5 spawned on my try 48 BM Hunter / LW with a Ferocity pet... This is an awesome quest to help with LW quests like Wild Leather didnt take much time to put 3 stacks of Thick Leather and 3 Stacks of Turtle Scale in my bags.

Don't wait too long...the chest will disappear after few minutes. Those turtles are really ugly and on lvl 44 they hit quite hard, so I had to wait ... and hadn't finished the quest :))

Just completed this on lvl 50 feral druid. 5 pirates spawned and I could not keep from pulling all 5 and they wiped me. After a long run back I pulled again and this time changed to Dire Bear Form and focused dps on one. When he died I cast rejuinivation and cast shadowmeld. After the other 4 reset I looted the corpse for the key and while in Cat form I prowled up to the chest completed the quest and dashed away. After a quick rebuff I went back in and finished off the other 4.

Easy quest. I went down there on my lvl 44 mage (frost build of course) and just kept freezing them in place w/ nova and when ice barrier would break while I used CoC and AE to kill them. I only went down to about 50% hp. Very easy.

Done easy as 43 ret palla ecsorsism pull and then kite away one but dont forget to use Judgment and Hand of Reckoning on one all the time. After a while they should run away evading but if u di it right one pirate will stay on u. Kill it he WILL drop key. Then u run to the chest bubble and open and turn in. Viola.

Totally annoying thing happened to me when I did this quest.

Pieced together the map while killing pirates... ok so far so good. Followed the clues... actually pretty easy to find the mast sticking out of the beach. Clicked on the mast and while it was opening, the 5 pirates plus one of those nasty turtles all attacked me at once. No problem, being a rogue, I disappeared and waited for my health to come back.

As soon as I felt I was ready, I attacked the 2 nearest pirates, of course one of the turtles jumped in so it was a 3 on 1... I managed to kill them all and looted the key. I thought, great, this was easy!

Just as I looted the key, the 3 other pirates disappeared. I thought that a little odd... anyway, went back to the mast and it was dead. Nothing happened when I hovered or clicked on it. No chest... no nothin. So now I am left with the key, an inert mast and a bunch of turtles running around.

I guess what happened is I didn't wait long enough for the box to appear before running away from the mast. That's the only thing I can think of. Now I don't know how I am going to complete this quest. Do I need to go get more map fragments or will the chest (and pirates) respawn... who knows. Gonna wait around for another 15 minutes or so then just give it up.

Heck of it is, I show the quest completed, have the key and have absolutely nothing to show for it.

Note for people: If the treasure chest bugs on you, says on quest helper or whatever program you use, and its not actually their, the quest bugged. What you have to do is throw away the key from your keyring then go back to the location where the landmark is (50.7,90.8) and kill one of the mobs again to retrieve the key, the chest should be there this time. If not repeat until it is. The quest is bugged has been for awhile, hope this helps.

To all of you who think its tough to get there: You can ride almost all the way. I think I swimmed about 100 yards, and used mount about 1500 yards.

Anyway..

I have a big problem with that quest.. I got the key, but I died before I could kill them all -.-' When I came back and looted the corpse (and the key) the flag went "non-useable" (there was no stars around it). I did not see the chest, but Im not sure that is wasnt there! It was not after I got the key, thats for sure..

Ive reported to a GM, but I dont know if its a bug or its just me..

Ive moved around on all of the southern tip, and there is no chest og turn in at all :/

Anyone who have tried that too ?

When I arrived, the chest was already spawned. Nobody around.

The chest was asking for a key, but no pirates around. Clicking on the banner did nothing.

I thought maybe I was missing a quest item so I hearthed out. But I did not have anything in the bank.

Maybe the quest was bugged out. Will try again later.
