Some Gryphons are fine, just click them to return.

Some are trapped, kill the trappers and the trapper bindings to release them.

Some are injured. If you're a non-healing class you must use first aid, I tried using Heavy Frostweave Bandages, no good. You have to use Embersilk Bandages or higher on the Gryphons to get them to return.

All of them are found directly east of the quest giver (Crucible of Carnage area).

The gryphons which require healing only need to be brought above 25% health.

As previously posted, 1 Embersilk Bandage will work. However, any healing method which will restore them to 25.1% or more will suffice. (This does include multiple Heavy Frostweave Bandages if you have no Embersilk ones)

You don't NEED to rescue the injured ones to finish the quest. I went to town to learn embersilk bandages, came back and there were more trapped ones to rescue. It appears to be a fairly long respawn though so if you run into a 6/8 situation and only see injured ones just do another quest and come back and there will be more you can rescue.

Expect to stay longer camping the gryphons if there are 2 or more others trying to finish the same quest. And tbh, this quest's concept is really bad.

considering how abysmally low the cloth droprate is, I'd recommend not wasting bandages even if you have first aid, at least not until the droprate is fixed to something more sensible

You do not have to fight the Twilight Trappers to save those gryphons; simply destroy the bindings from range and it will count.

You don't need to heal any of them. Just let the uninjured ones smell the charred Birchwood and they will fly home and count as quest.

I had a bit of a funny experience with this quest. A gryphon was tied up with a Twilight Trapper guarding it. So I began to fight the trapper and as I was fighting him a druid comes by and destroys all the pegs keeping it in place. When he finished, I actually got the credit for it!

So the moral is: Don't try and destroy the pegs while someone is fighting the trapper. You won't get any credit for it. ^_^

Beware of wolves when doing this quest, as a patrol of 8 wolves may find you and try having you for dinner :)

Heads up if you're a Hunter and are trying to use Tracking to find the gryphons: they're Humanoids, and not Beasts, strangely enough.

I wish someimes there would be consistency or at least some kind os heads up about the quest item given to complete quest. Tried clicking on the birch treid to put on tool bar like every other usable item.

For the BM Hunters out there, a Spirit Beast's Spirit Mend will heal up the gryphons just fine, although sometimes it takes a second application to get the full amount of healing needed.

The ones that are down/wounded can be healed, gaining your quest progress, which might be easier on healing classes.

As any class with a ranged attack (I'm a warrior and I used my gun) you can just shoot one or two bindings off without aggroing the trapper.

It's much faster to do the trapped ones this way if you're just trying to get the Loremaster or get through the zone.

This quest kinda blows if you're can't heal and don't have first aid... The gryphons are spaced pretty far apart and when you finally find one, if it's just lying there and looks dead you have to heal it.

Reasons I hate this quest

1) I can heal myself just fine, I can even heal my demon pet but I can't heal the gryphons.

2) I've been using all my cloth to level tailoring, not first aid. Potions don't work, either.

3) I ran across several injured gryphons I couldn't do jack with.

4) When I found ones that were tied up, the rope that they're tied down with is so small it takes forever to click on it just right.

5) When I finally got the last gryphon, I aggroed a wolf. By itself it was no problem, but what I didn't realize was that this wolf was the point man for a pack of 8 more and that wolf pack decided to camp my corpse.

Bliz, I am giving you the finger as hard as I possibly can.

Quest is bugged in Cata Classic; some gryphons which are near a Twilight Trapper have no way to free them. They are just stuck there permanenetly

[Don't let Duglas fool you, the Mullans have been itchin' to take wing again, and if there's anyone we'd do it for, it's Firebeard.

We left our gryphons in the Highland Forest to the south to hunt and to get away from the sounds of battle for a bit. They deserved a rest.

If you want us back in the air soon, you'd do well to help us bring our gryphons back in.

Take this piece of charred highland birch. We use it during training - as soon as they smell it, they'll come straight back to us.]
