This quest is really quite epic.

You control the direction of the large spinning fireball. Just follow the path down the hill that's been run into the ground all the way down to the docks, and along the way take out all the gross little gnomes you see. It might take a few runs up and down the path and around the docks to take out 1000 of them, but if you're anything like me you'll take out a few hundred more after that just for fun.

Stay on the path and along the docks (straying only a little to take out gnomes) and you shouldn't have a problem. If you stray too far the ball will spit you out and you have to go back and get a new ball. You do not need to abandon your quest.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gryphon##DELIM##

Yes, make sure you follow the path Northeast towards the docks at the cursed landing. If you go into the area with the "Cursed Engineers" and the walking bombs, the core will auto-eject you, you go into a different phase, and get owned by 10 crazed engineers.

This is easily the best quest Blizzard has ever implimented. Even as Alliance i don't think i'll ever get bored of running over gnums (hey they are crazy so its okay!)... This should be made a daily!

Also, you don't actually need to drop the quest if you get spat out. Just fly back to the core and pick "We need to give this another try." and you can pick up where you left off.

Honestly, the sounds and seeing flaming gnomes fly past my screen had me in fits for a good while.

I couldn't do the Quest. Once i clicked on the Orange Ball my frame Rate dropped to 0. tried restarting it and dropping it, restarting my computer, updating my drivers, and playing at low settings. Nothing fixed it.

This should be a daily, or even a repeat. I recall a BC repeat quest in Hellfire that had you dropping bombs over demons in a large area, but didn't reward anything. If this was anything like that, regardless of rewards, I'd die happy.

If you return to the fusion ball and speak to it you have the option to select "we need to give this another try." That will allow you to jump back into the ball and continue from your previous kill number. Useful for anyone who falls off at a high number.

One thing came to my mind doing this. Anyone remember the time when the Burning Crusade was released? All the world's tauren (s?) were whining about being humiliated by a gnome's sheep spell. A SHEEP SPELL. And now you need to kill a THOUSAND gnomes. I'm not a gnome fan or anything, don't have a gnome character either, it's just a bit sarcastic if you ask me.

Absolutely GREAT quest, and I had a cool bug happen (or at least I think it was a bug)

When I got almost to the required level of gnomeslaughter, I rolled back up the path to get the respawns there. About halfway up the hill, the ball stopped moving but I kept moving. I couldn't see myself, just the gnomes that were stuck to my new "invisiball".

I had to drive back down and kill a few hundred more, just because it was so fun to be driving a sphere of flaming gnome corpses. On the way back up, the ball was still there, right where it and I had parted ways.

For those of you wanting this to be a daily, mind telling me who you're going to get faction with? I think that's a general rule with dailies...

Next time the Blackrock Exiles pay Argent Dawn a visit, I'll be sure to mention that if they keep their shenanigans up, I'll find a way to convince Blizzard to create an Ironforge version of this quest. With incinerating 1000 members of the Exiles of Blackrock guild as the goal.

Not NPCs, mind you. THE ACTUAL PLAYER-CHARACTER INTRUDERS.

But anyway, it didn't feel like a slaughter to me so much as an Asterix battle. Guess who played the respective parts of Obelix and the Romans...

Not to mention that if this somehow DOES become a daily (not that I can figure out how THAT many gnomes could be corrupted by the apparent Psycho Prototype of Algalon), there should be SOME sort of achievement. Cut down the 1000 corrupted gnomes in less than X:XX, basically.

Interesting bug - exit the "vehicle" as it jumps the railing. If it works as it did for me, you'll fall down, and the orb will remain. It will then follow you at a distance.

You can then get into another orb, kill gnomes, and the original orb will pick up bodies. Mine eventually glitched a second time, where the orb froze but the fire path from it continued following me - the "phantom" orb still picked up bodies, so it was just a bunch of spinning gnomes. On fire. Following me.

Although this is my most favorite quest out there, I have noticed a small bug. If you roll over to (80,56), at least for me and a friend, the core will actually stop in mid air and you continue to roll without the core. This means in order to see where your ball is, you'll have to run over more gnomes and watch them spin around helplessly :D

I have a few of things to say, so I'll start from the top;

First and foremost, if having this much fun is criminal, I should be locked away for all time. It's just too addicting to NOT kill as many gnomes as possible. Unless of course, you are a gnome. But hey, no one is perfect, right?

Second, there aren't a lot of gnomes left, and if they all died, we would lose out on favoured pass times like this one. I only have one solution: Clones.

Third, please tell me that I am not the only one that thinks Getting Away With Murder by Papa Roach is fitting?

Anyone else have this happen to them? I was rolling around down by the docks and my flaming ball got stuck to one of the pillars by the water. The ball got stuck but I didn't. I apparently became an invisible flaming ball and kept right on burning gnomes.

If anyone were wondering, you simply need to jump off the ball of fire, once you have killed 1000 gnomes. Even though you don't get the usual quest completed message, you still get credit and can just go hand it in.

Yup, I really enjoyed this on my main and now I'm doing it on my second. I keep abandoning it and doing it again and again, no plans to turn in until Blizzard makes this a daily (and why not? we need another daily in Uldum anyway.) This quest is my version of a stress toy and cracks me up. The only thing that would make it more epic would be to tie it in with the Harrison Jones line in a nod to the Temple of Doom scene.

Also, you can glitch this so that the ball turns invisible. Somehow I left the floating ball of flame behind and got an "invisi-ball" and so all I saw was the screaming trash it picked up rolling over and over on an invisible ball of doom. Awesome.

halfway through rolling over gnomes, the image of my fire ball got stuck. i was still in the fusion core, but it just was not visible. lol. so by the end of it, i had a acquired a huge ball of flaming gnomes instead of a fire ball.

A great quest! I agree it should be a daily. The sound effects are rather satisfying, also.

If you have any difficulty controlling the ball with the keyboard, try using the mouse holding down both buttons. Collecting all the gnomes while remaining in the permissible area is simple with that technique. Just point and scoop!

Well, I found a rather boring way to do this quest, if you run into problems. There are several spots along the downward slope where you can just park your giant flaming ball of flaming gnome death. The respawn rate is very fast, so you'll rack up the kills. It's a super-boring way to do this super-awesome flaming death quest, but it works.

I'm doing this quest right now and parked the ball by some crates to get something to drink and when I came back I was looking at the ball just rotating there. There are some images in it. One of some guy or girl with curly longish hair and scary looking face on the neck. There is more stuff around the whole ball. It's weird. I'll try to submit a picture of it.

I'm having some kind of problem when I do it, it'll count the first 50 or so gnomes then it just stops, and after every couple of minutes it just counts a couple more, I also can't leave the sphere (Logging out/ in helps that though) And I've tried abandoning the quest and trying again but the same thing happens...

I didn't have a framerate problem, at least I don't think I did. At some point, I think around 500 or so gnomes, my ball stopped working. I was rolling over large mobs of gnomes and they weren't counting. I tried to use the leave vehicle button, but it wouldn't let me. I think someone else was doing the same quest at the same time because as I was rolling around over things, they started counting. It took a LONG time to get it done, I'm not sure if my ball was registering every few gnomes I was hitting or if there actually was someone else doing the quest and the gnomes counted for me too. Which is good, because when I finally hit the 1000 to complete, I kept rolling. The leave vehicle button still didn't work for me. I logged out and logged back in, and that kicked me out of the ball so I could turn in the quest.

This issue aside, this was quite an awesome quest. I would love to see it as a daily or a repeatable quest.

There appears to be a phasing/respawning bug with this quest.

After I'd happily killed the first couple of hundred gnomes, the body count stopped, I could roll over gnomes without mutilating them (disappointing) or hearing their screams of agony (extremely disappointing).

I also couldn't leave the vehicle to start again.

Logging out and back in gave the same problem, but I discovered that I could kill gnomes that were invisible, e.g. going back up to the tomb at the top of the hill and rolling all around the outside perimeter.

Once I'd killed the required number, I could still roll around but couldn't leave the vehicle, so had to log out and back in again.

Interestingly, there are parts of the dock where you can't roll off the edge, but other places where you can enter the water and the ball floats.

It's a shame it isn't repeatable, as it would be interesting to see how far across Uldum you could ride before it ejected you.

Indeed this was a fun quest and I agree it should be made a daily. I was able to complete it in two tries. The first time I only got 57 of the little fellows cuz I tried to stay on the path as much as possible. I got the other 943 on the second try by just directing the ball where ever I wanted it to go (even up hill). I just kept going back and forth til I got all my kills and a couple of hundred +. I even went up multiple stairs leading to a temple. However, when I tried to take the ball into the building I got kicked off...all in all it was a blast!

When I flew over the area previously, I saw the name "Trail of Devastation" and thought it referred to the devastation caused BY the crazed gnomes.

Now I know better :)

Did anybody noticed how those gnomes stick to the fiery ball, I think it is a reference to odd and painful habit of all hot objects to stick on somebody's skin with distinctive steam sound increasing the pain from burn tenfold. :D

This quest seems to be a little glitched for me. I have a very nice computer and I have all of the game settings set to max but for some reason when I do this quest the gnomes disappear. I can see them in the distance but once I get close enough to roll over them they disappear. When I got to the steps there were no gnomes but my kill counter was still going up, I couldn't see them but I was apparently killing them. This sort of thing also happened to me in a quest near K3, anyone else have this problem?

Really fun quest! Although if you're prone to headaches, I recommend taking a break to look away from the computer monitor every now and then.

If you look closely, you can see the reflection of the Chamber of the Aspects (in Dragonblight). It's the glowing orb in the ceiling. Blizz just use the same model.

We get to roll over at least a thousand gnomes in a big flaming sphere in the desert, setting gnomes on fire like that should be a daily quest indeed. I agree with everyone else who says that this quest should be a daily quest!
BTW, stupid question but who else kept on killing gnomes after they had already kill a thousand and could turn the quest in?
