Why can't I pick up this quest if I had not already done Defias in Dustwallow?

yes, i cant take the quest either, but i`ll see if it is triggered by completing other quests. will let u know what i found.

Just as a followup on this one, I also had the breadcrumb warning, did enough quests in Dustwallow to get Dustwallow Marsh Quests, without this quest showing up. Not sure what to make of it. But to anyone else who comes looking, take the followup and finish the line.

Alright, here goes. For those playing Cataclysm Classic, first start with . Corporal Jeyne gives you this quest and she is standing on the docks in Booty Bay. She looks like a guard and is over by where the boat comes in. Once you have that quest, ride the boat to Ratchet and turn it in. Gazlowe will give you . Speak to Bragok the flight master and fly to Theramore.

Once you're in Theramore, speak to Calia Hastings. She's the Rogue trainer. Complete her series of 4 quests, , , , .

Completing Calia's 4 quests used to unlock , but that quest does not appear to exist anymore. It was a breadcrumb quest that sent you to Sentry Point to speak with Captain Wymor. So head to Sentry Point, which is a tower on the road just north of Theramore. Captain Wymor is inside and he will give you . Head to the island off the coast of Duskwallow at 64,27 and kill Garn Mathers. He will drop Devias Orders. Return to Captain Wymor and he will give you . Renn McGill is on the island to the north of where you killed Garn Mathers.

Complete Renn McGill's 3 quests, , , . The 3rd quest will send you back to Theramore to speak to Lady Jaina, who is at the top of the tower. She will give you . Speak to Cassa Crimsonwing, who is standing next to the flightmaster. Once you've flown around on the gryphon, return to Lady Jaina.

THIS NEXT PART IS IMPORTANT. If you are doing this for the free teleport, pay attention, because this is where you'll get it. You have two options, a Theramore>>Stormwind teleport or a Stormwind>>Theramore teleport. You can't have both, so you must choose one.

Lady Jaina's next quest is , which is the free Theramore>>Stormwind teleport. Accept the quest and when you speak to Lady Jaina she will offer you a teleport to Stormwind. Use the dialog box when speaking to Jaina and she will teleport you to the throne room in Stormwind, right in front of King Varian Wrynn. Stop here and keep in your questlog if you want to keep the Theramore>>Stormwind teleport.

Otherwise, speak to King Varian Wrynn and turn in the quest. Then he'll give you , which is the opposite teleport. This quest instructs you to speak with Archmage Malin, who is standing outside of the portal tower in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind. If you speak to Malin, a dialog box will offer to teleport you to Theramore. You'll end up at the top of the tower in Theramore, standing in front of Lady Jaina. Keep this quest in your questlog for a free Stormwind>>Theramore teleport.

It appears as though if you completed Defias in Dustwallow? before Cataclysm, then this quest will be unavailable to you despite having a different intended followup quest. ()

[Reports from our scout patrols have recently taken a disturbing turn. They tell of men wearing red Defias bandanas walking the Dreadmurk Shore north of Theramore's walls.

Wreckage in the area suggests they may be survivors of a shipwreck, but our information is limited. Captain Wymor at Sentry Point, a guard tower to the north of the city, is looking for help in following up on the reports.]
