i also found some quest items on the ground near those Sand Pygmy

You can pick these up from the floor. The fragments are fairly small and barely sparkle, so keep your eyes open.

Make sure you accept this quest ASAP from the Sand Pygmy Corpse or he'll despawn and you will not be able to continue the quest chain.

Had the problem that I couldn't pick upTablets, but when I killed a Mangy Hyena and I accepted the quest Do the World a Favor I was able to pick up the tablets.

Good luck, don't know if this solves the problem!

I couldn't loot until I turned in the Hyena quest "Do the World a Favor". Then I started finding them everywhere.

I was able to loot them and I found them scattered all around the area of Obelisk Of The Stars where you get the quest. However I did pick up the quest Do The World A Favor first.

It is probably worth pointing out that killing a Mangy Hyena in the area led to the auto accept quest Do the World a Favor. So its probably worth killing a few Mangy Hyenas if you have not already acquired the quest Do the World a Favor.

When you pick these up from the ground (as opposed to looting them from the pygmies), it says "hefting" rather than gathering/collecting/the usual.

After manipulating my camera to get a good look at the writing on the shield, then cross-checking the symbols with known egyptian heiroglyphs, i can safely assume the writing on the shield says the following.

"Aman'Thul woz 'ere wiv 'is crew da Pantheon"
