There are empty craters and craters filled with lava. The empty ones cannot be used to complete the quest.

You can find the filled ones more to the east (right side of your map).

I stood inside one of the lava pits and was able to summon him and kill him on the first try as an 84 Fire Mage after questing in Hyjal and Uldum without using mirror images.

The things he said were funny

Magmatooth yells: Deepholm? I hate this place. Wait... you're not Initiate Goldmine!

Magmatooth yells: I know what you're after. I can sense it!

Magmatooth yells: This is not in my contract! Die, <race>!

Magmatooth yells: NOOOOOO! You tell Goldmine he's a dead goblin! Our contract is over!

I'm not 100% on this but it seems as if they are making fun of Warlocks minions :)

This is easily soloed as a lvl 82 frost mage. prob other specs too but i happened to be frost and frost barrier helped. Just pop mirrors as the battle starts and let them take all the damage and just kill the man

Very easy to solo as any class.
Use the Goldmine's Fire Totem to get him in one of the lava pools.

I tried with a feral druid and could not do a single point of damage to him in cat form. Ran away, healed, and tried three times. Kept getting "Not in front of you" or "Not in range" messages. Was able to target him okay. Will try in bear form.

Don't attempt to kite him, he disappears after a short distance (about 30 yards or so). Just stand still and nuke em :)

As an 82 druid os in Balance, he either killed me or ran away 4 times.

make sure you kill anything around him before you try fighting him, those extra damage points are not wanted especially if you're soloing this guy. Also, don't travel too far fighting him or he'll dissapear. I had him down to low health 2 times before he ran away and I had to start over...not fun!

This guys is hard to solo at 82. I had to summon my little tree guys to help me beat him. Any extra help you can get, get it!

Pretty simple.Go to one of the lave pools and kill the Living Blood (Red oozze).Then put down the Fire totem. Then a big yellow fire demon should talk for a second then try to kill you.Kill him then loot:) (NOTE- MUST BE INSIDE LAVA POOL FOR FIRE TOTEM TO WORK!)

[Alright, we need something that's going to make the compound go, "Boom"!

I'm all out of gun powder, but I think I know what we can use instead... the heart of my fire elemental!

Here, take my fire totem east to the Blood Trail. Just flip the switch on it near any of the lava pools over there and Magmatooth should be summoned. Bring back his heart and we'll be in business.]
