I was having the same problem. I tried it again after turning off all of my Addons and logging back into WoW and it work for me. don't know if this will help anyone out or not.

I just switched out of Shadowform and it allowed me to turn in the quest.

After reading whole quest line, i rofled so hard upon laying eyes on the quest item given. "Yer Papers" God I love pirates.

Got this quest as a discipline priest and could not hand in the quest. All the mobs were red, but they could neither attack me nor be attacked by me. Put in a ticket about the quest and figured it was some strange bug.

When talking to the GM they asked if I was a shadow priest, to which I said no I was not, but I do have shadow as my offspec. After a bit of talking I switched to shadow spec and went into and out of Shadowform. To my surprise, I was now able to talk to Captain Keelhaul and the mobs were all green!

So, basically, it seems Shadowform messes this quest up, if you're a priest and having problems, even if shadow is your offspec, try switching in and out of Shadowform.

As a Paladin I switched from Ret Aura to Devotion Aura. I then logged out as Devotion Aura and back in. I was then able to interact with the NPC's again. I could also freely switch between my Aura's without it bugging out.

As I rogue I found that when I arrived at the ships all the pirates were marked as unfriendly though it was impossible to interact with them. I logged out and in and they were still unfriendly but if I took a swipe at any of them the message read that they were a friendly target. I logged out and in again and they were greened and I could then move on to my least favourite quest of the game. I don't know why I bother.

Hey, I'm a level 85 DK, I'm going round for Loremaster achievement and I'm currently doing this quest, but I can't cos it saying the NPC's are enemies, I've tried logging out and in, but they ain't worked... Anyone know what to do?

I had the reputation bug but after I disabled my buff-addon it worked properly

I had this same problem. Got the quest and then headed over to the ship. My mini-map had the '?' on it but Capt. Keelhaul didn't. He was also red but not aggressive and I couldn't attack him or any of the other pirates. I logged out and then back in and then he had the '?' but was still red to me.

I dropped the quest and got it again, same result. Did that a couple times, still no change.

I came to this thread and saw the post from a rogue name Erum and he said he logged out and logged back in and the pirates were then friendly. Others talked about disabling addons and then trying it.

First, I disabled my addons and then logged in and out multiple times - and it worked. The pirates were then friendly to me. I wondered if it truly was my addons (I don't run anything exotic - bartender, recount, omen, dbm) so I logged out and enabled them again. On logging back in the pirates were red. I then logged in and out a couple times and got them to be friendly to me again, so it wasn't my addons.

So, in summary: if the pirates aren't friendly to you just spam logging out and back in until they are. Addons don't seem to be causing this. That's what worked for me.

I had same issue as those above. I'm a Hunter, I had to log out and log back in several times before it worked but I think as far as Hunters are concerned, do it with NO ASPECTS turned on. Easiest way is to go to cheetah aspect, mount on the deck of the ship, then you will have no aspects active. After that spam log out log in till they are green best frendzies with you.

I had the same issues described but no one seemed to find a real fix. I thought about it and it seems with the Aspects disabled and re-logging nothing worked until I realized I had a Darkspear Troll Tabard on. I took that off, re-logged and bam I was able to run the quest and he was Green. Basically, anything that would tip off a Rogue Pirate that you are not who you say you are is checked in this quest it would seem.

I had the same problem as everyone else. I tried relogging, disabling addons, abandoning and retaking the quest, without luck. As a warlock, I couldn't change stance. However, as a last resort I queued for a dungeon to see if zoning helped. When I finished the dungeon, things were working as they should. I suspect just leaving the zone normally and returning might have worked as well.

yeah just had the same situation all hostile but they didnt attack i couldnt pick up quests cause of the piracy buff so hearthed out lost the buff they back friendly with me

My Drainai hunter had the same problem. I just logged out 3 times and things were back to normal.

Just fixed the glitch halfway through my end by actually waiting 20 seconds to log-out and logging back in. If you just exit game and log back in later, it doesn't seem to fix it. Reloading my UI in various ways didn't help either. Once the pirates were green again I just continued with the new quests - all's well.

Didn't have to change any stances or anything on my warrior. Simply did a full logout and logged back in immediately.

For those who still have the silly reputation bug: Simply grab a mount and fly to the nearest zone, causing you to loose the "Piracy" buff. I recommend the southern part of Stranglethorn Vale (The sea where you get fatigue) as that's nearest.

Same issue with Keelhaul appearing as hostile (although not attackable). Logged out and in several times - sometimes he had a Question Mark, sometimes not but always hostile.

Hearthed to Booty Bay, flew to Northern Stranglethorn, flew back. Mobs now all green and can hand in the quest. Hope that helps.

Yes, I've had the same problem, logging in one morning and they were red, but they didn't attack me. I logged out twice before they turned green again.
