One of the new Orgrimmar cooking quests introduced in Cataclysm. Patrol around Orgrimmar, and check near the piles of rations. Some piles will have a Orgrimmar Thief standing next to them - kill three and loot their bodies.

The quest item is a 100% drop rate.

The thieves are level 11 stealthed rogue-looking NPCs called Orgrimmar Thief. They stalk around the boxes or appear to be taking something.

Any ground AOE works (such as Holy Nova) as well.

the number of these in org incredibly (stupidly) low. so is the respawn rate. it's early morning and been going around for an hour with few others. only 2 so far. ridiculous.

Heya! I have found a very nice macro to be able to find Orgrimmar Thief's.

/target Orgrimmar Thief
/script if UnitName("target") and not UnitIsDead("target") and not GetRaidTargetIndex("target") then SetRaidTargetIcon("target",1); end
/cleartarget

Go ahead & slap that into the macro box and mash away! I found 3 way faster then inspecting & investigating each box, what the macro does is it put's a raid target icon on the thief so you can see it through walls when targeted, it put's the "Star" raid icon, it will also IGNORE dead targets.

I have edited the macro above, to ignore all dead targets!

The best place I have found to find the thieves is on the long path towards Azshara. There are stacks of crates either side of the path and you can just zig-zag up and down it.

Finished this daily within minutes.

I got 7600xp on my level 53 alt and 6060 on a lvl 43
Anyone have a 79 to test on to approximate launch day xp at 80? see if its worth the same as an icecrown daily

If you are a hunter and trying to do this qst. put on your track hidden and you will find the thieves in no time :)

Did anyone else notice all of the thieves are goblins and trolls? The same races we steal rice from?

For all we know, they're just trying to get back the rice we stole from them, yet we kill them for it. Poor guys.

I just went across from where you pick up this daily (right where the boxes are across the road.) As I was setting up the macro that ninni posted, i wound up fighting all 3 thieves that I needed. They all spawned before I could finish the macro :P.

Even with handy dandy macro, people were still killing them before I could even hit my instant casts once they were found. Worst daily ever if you're on a busy server =/.

I ignored this quest out of principle. Hunger is horrible thing and punishing a hungry thief with death, to me, seems wholly out of proportion.

If you're a high level hunter, be mindful of your pet. A high level pet can easily one-shot these guys and as we all know, if your pet kills something that you don't damage, you can't loot anything - one of blizzard's excellent design choices (sarcasm). Summary - don't let your pet kill these guys, or no loots D:

For anyone with a mount doing this daily, you don't even need to go through the trouble of the macro. Just fly near the spawn points of the thieves and spam tab, since no other neutral/enemy NPCs will be nearby, you'll target the thief. Doing this method, this daily takes roughly 45 seconds to complete.

The only good thing about this daily is that you only need 3. When is Blizz going to understand that no one wants to compete with a zillion others for a daily!

If you're on a high-pop server, then you (like me) have a hard time finding thieves anywhere. From death (and looting) till respawn there is a seven minute timer. If you can bear it for 14 minutes (after finding your first one) just hang out there and multi-task for two more respawns. It's far less stressful than flying around for me.

I can't help but find this quest ironic. We kill the thieves for stealing food, and yet, on other days, we are supposed to steal rice from the trolls?

Just did this quest today (8 November 2011) and it appears to be bugged. I have killed approximately 15 of the quest monsters and nothing has dropped. In addition, I've tried dropping the quest, reloading ui and relogging. Doesn't help.

Just something to be aware of.

The macro, /Tar Orgrimmar thief does help, only thing is after you find and kill one, if you use the macro will target the corpse.
