For this quest you must defeat this elite npc named Hallazeal the Ascended who has 2.23m health.

To defeat him you must control a Possessed Ascendant, which you acquire from the previous quest in the chain.

During this quest however, the Ascendant's abilities change slightly. You use the same Watery Doom and the same Consume Essence, however the middle ability changes to Concussive Splash, which is a knock back. You will not need that if you do my strategy correctly.

Aggro the boss and keep him positioned in the middle of the room, keep about 8 yards between he and you at all times or your Watery Doom will not hit (might be a bug at the moment).

Anyways he'll start casting Explosive Barrage which spawns these little explosive bombs beneath that do aoe damage.

Strafe, left or right to around the boss in a circle to avoid them, while spamming Watery Doom.

Keep the boss in the middle, that is very important...its annoying when he gets stuck in the walls.

Do this and its really easy, heal as needed, but you shouldn't have to.

The mob is in the center temple. Keep your shield up at all times (#3), interrupt her spells (#2) and spend the rest of the time spamming attack (#1).

If you join one or more others fighting, you get credit (as long as you do some damage I assume). Don't have to be in the group. I'm horde and I jumped in to help some allies. It was over quickly and the quest was complete.

The quest itself was very easy once the servers reset to fix her frozen bug.

However once it was completed, I also wasn't given a follow up quest, and I'm a questoholic and have done every quest I've seen available in the zone. Currently stuck at 139/150 for Sinking into Vashj'ir. Ticket is up, will report back and edit once ticket is answered.

If your controlled elemental died, the Attuned Runestone of Binding from the previous quest is still in your bags. It's not marked as a quest item though (no yellow border).

When i completed the previous quest i had some lag issues and i couldn´t accept the next one on time. I went back to L´ghorek and it gave me the quest i missed without problems.

Did this on my 82 rogue. Lost the quest initially because of an internal error but was able to pick it back up from the original quest giver.

Did not have to move while killing boss, just spammed 1 and 2 and kept my shield up. Went back to original quest giver and handed in, was given Back to Darkbreak Cove

Well this is sucks... quest is still bugged. I tried everything. Anyone else had better luck? or do I really have to wait until server restart?

It was not bugged for me.

Run into the center temple (dont worry, mobs outside won't attack you). Always keep your bubble up (button 3), spam button 1 for attack and interrupt his casts with button 2.
If you do it right, you won't lose any health, but you have also a heal ability (button 4).

Turn in the quest at the brain, see map for the spot - collect blue item - done.

The quest has been bugged on the silvermoon server for the past 2 days as well.
The mob will come down once attacked, but then when it touches down no attacks affect it, and the mob never moves afterward.

Anybody notice that "Sinking into Vashj'ir" achievement hit at 140 quests completed, and not 160?

Had no trouble doing this on my Druid when Cata first came out, but this morning it was bugged on an alt. Mob just sits in the center of the room and is grayed out for me and cannot be attacked. Put in a ticket this AM, no response yet. (Eitrigg server). Tonight, I came back to try again, and there were 8 other people in the room also trying to get it to work with no luck. Tried abandoning quest, logging, etc. Nothing works.

Bugged on my server for about 4 days. If this happens to you - go back to Darkbreak Cove and talk to Erunak Stonespeaker who will give you Defending the Rift.

This quest was bugged for several days in a row on Burning Blade. Hallazeal was stuck at ~50% health, could not be damaged, and did not respond to being attacked. Yesterday tried it again after the rolling restarts and it worked perfectly.

My suggestion: if this quest is bugged, wait for the server restart.

If you are a doofus like me and accidentally get rid of this quest window instead of accepting it when it pops up, you can pick the quest up from the brain as well.

petition your GM's frequently. After 2 days of straight petitions and automated replies, it was fixed on BB. But weekly server restarts probably help.

Thanks for that. I clicked on the achievement window that came up and it closed the new quest window. I was really confused as to how I was going to be able to get the quest. Thanks again!

I had a hard time trying to figure out how to get inside the building. There was a staircase on the left side, but I couldn't seem to get to it (the torrent couldn't jump high enough to get on the various platforms). Well, there's another staircase on the right side that is cake to get up (no jumping). Just an FYI.

The immediate pre-requisite to this chain is Full Circle from
Shimmering Expanse.

that was a weird quest, but fun
every thing you said about it is true.....make sure you do keep the shield up

I think I found a way around the bug. the frostbolt spell has a push back which is what causes the bug. Make sure you are facing one of the walls without doors. And if you push him into those things in the room that (for lack of a better description) look like tree trunks, he won't go through the wall! Worked for me.

Just did this quest on an alt and had what I think may be a problem for other players.

I thought the quest was bugged as I could do no damage to him with my elemental. After some frustration I dismissed the elemental and went back to the brain (L'ghorek brain room) and it turns out I did not properly pick up the quest - maybe because I was still "in" the original elemental.

The brain will give you another Rune to control another elemental; one which will now have the proper abilities that damage the mob.

In short, if bugged, dismiss the elemental, go get quest in brain room, pick up another elemental with new rune.

This is one of the best quests on WoW.
Not for the quest itself but for the fact that to use the recover ability, the elemental will keep an elite ascendant under him and the thing hits really hard.

What is so good on it? After you defeat the one guy for the quest, your non consumed ascendant will stay there and walk with you all around the place and attack any player you may find.
Any player, including your own faction. They attack and kill players if you let them close to the unfortunate individual.

When you beat the bum, get out quick though, he does respawn very quickly.
