Undoable after Defending the Rift -- do this one first!

I have yet to do Defending the Rift and I cannot do this either.
It has to be a quest before even accepting Defending the Rift that screws it up.

The NPC is nowhere to be found...
I reported it as a bug; when the game goes live, it should be fixed...

It hasn't been, I think it's something to do with the dying ancient quests you get at the same time because that's all i did between picking this quest up and trying to complete it.

I have not accepted Defending the Rift and I am still unable to talk to the person to complete this quest. ? is there, but noone to speak to.

If you complete all quests inside L'ghorek you won't be able to see the NPC either.

I had the same Issue, until i had all of the quests completed but not turned in. Then her question mark changed spots and i found her in the northeast corner of the brown spot. Hope this helps.

Another person who lost access to this NPC (and thus can't turn in the quest) after completing the quests in L'ghorek...

On a side note the same thing happened to me at the end of Defending the Rift- the cut scene didn't complete and the NPC never appeared. After exiting the game, logging back in and sitting there for a minute the cutscene played again from a point near the end and it completed this time and I was able to turn in the quest and get that achievement.

I have not yet started Defending the Rift (just seeing the first part of the quest in Darkbreak Cove now) and I still can't see Wavespeaker Valoren anywhere. Does not appear to be connected to Defending the Rift.

Not really true, i had Defending the rifts and The wavespeaker to choose from which one to do first, since valoren wasnt there, i did defending the rifts, still aint there...

I had this problem too, but checked back today and found the NPC to be present. Seems to have been fixed!

This was fixed in a Hotfix on December 8th, 2010. The questgiver is now in the same phase as you regardless of the order you quest in.

I found if i approached very slowly by tapping forward while walking, I could get into range of her to complete the quest. Try talking to her on her right side, that seems to be the area you can get closest too.

My issue is that the QUESTION MARK symbol shows up on my mini map, but the NPC herself, doesn't show up. I have a GM ticket open and is waiting a response.

This worked today (12/11/10). I had completed and turned in both "Fill Circle" and "Defending The Rift".

i've only done the quests leading to "The Wavespeaker" and im able to see Wavespeaker Valoren and can talk to her from all sides.
If you approaces her and accepts the quest "Free Wil'hai" before getting this Q, Captain Taylor wont even offer you "The Wavespeaker"
I am yet to try to complete "Free Wil'hai" and then speak to Captain Taylor

Captain Taylor doesnt offer "The Wavespeaker" after you've completed "Free Wil'hai" so if you are going for achievement "Sinking into Vashj'ir (ally)" / "Sinking into Vashj'ir (horde)" go talk to Captain Taylor before taking "Free Wil'hai" (giving you 1 more Q)

I also experienced difficulties with turning in this quest ....
The only thing i could do ... was go do some more other quests ...
and return at a later time ... the first time i visited the location on the map ... i could see the npc surrounded with a strange aura.... after a few seconds when i tried to enter the aura wich it was surrounded with...... the npc just vanished (like what u see when a player goes offline). the questionmark howewer ; remained to be consistent on the map... probably a phasing error somewhere.....
IF not .... Blizz should give more detailed objectives

I found everytime I walked toward her she would phase out and I would not be able to complete the quest. However, if I walked backward my progression slowed and I was able to interract with her without her disappearing on me. Whatever works!

I can see the npc, but as soon as I change to "Nightmare Depths", the NPC disappears. Unfortunately I cannot get close enough to talk to the NPC without changing zones.

I was having the same problem of the npc disappearing when i approached, so I backed up a tap at a time from her right side and I was able to turn in the quest. Seems to workfine that way due to the phasing issue.

The NPC wasn't originally showing for me, but I still had the quest Full Circle in my log. I had previously been unable to complete Full Circle because of a glitch, but I guess it was fixed.

Came back after doing it and I can see the NPC (while standing in Nightmare Depths)

The Customer Support forum reported this issue fixed recently but I just checked and she's still missing. (I've done 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, YMMV if you haven't) The GM I spoke to about it suggested that I abandon the quest and pick it up again but all that did was scare me as Captain Taylor is no longer at Promontory Point, where I first picked up the quest. He is, however, at Darkbreak Cove, so don't panic like I did at first if you try it. >.>;

To turn this in you have to be standing on the edge of the area shes standing in. If you go too close, she phases out, but if you're at the threshold range of turn in you can do it and get next.

Walking backward worked for me. Positioned myself just south of her, turned 180 degrees to face away from her and tapped my arrow key until I could turn in the quest.

She disappears if you approach from the wrong angle.
If you approch Wavespeaker Valoren from the side with the pink starfish on the sand. Stand to the left of the pink starfish.

submitted a ticket regarding not being able to see Wavespeaker Valron and this is the reply i got:

Thanks for the report about this. I was checking out the issue and it appears you need to complete the quest "full Circle" first, before you are phased in correctly to speak with the wave speaker. This should then allow you to interact with the NPC.

The response that I received from a GM concerning this quest is that they are aware that it is bugged for some players and are working on a solution. Perhaps tomorrow's rolling restart will fix this. I've tried all the solutions listed above, including completing all the mentioned quests that might allow me to interact with the NPC, and I am still unable to do so.

Like many others...Crazy quest and drove me crazy for days but i read some previous comments about approaching her from the right side and staying within The Scalding Chasm....That advice worked. Move slowly and stay on the right side just a bit above her and approach her carefully and you will be able to turn in quests. Once u phase she will disappear.

It's indeed true that the quest is hard to pick up. what you need to do is this: gently tap your move button at the starfish next to the npc. This way I got close enough to take and handle in the quest. It's a bit tricky, but doable:)

There is a spot where you can interact with her at 52.59 , 27.99 you want to be facing due north, stop just before and to the left of the red starfish, you will notice a glitch in the ocean floor that make you apear to be standing a few inches above it, if you are facing north she should be lined up with the second rib bone behind her, then you get to kill the tentical monster and Free Wil'hai

GM just told me to " Please look for and complete the quest 'Full Circle'. This wil lresolve the issue with the Wavespeaker. "

but when i go the the Q: Full Circle on the ship i cant see Captain Taylor who i take hte Q from.

i still cannot turn this quest in. i cannot see her up close OR from a distance. i have no other quests i can get here and would like to finish the achievement for the zone.

this is frustrating.

She is just on the edge of Nightmare Depths and The Scalding Chasm. If you are standing in The Scalding Chasm, you can see her and edge up in a northerly direction to speak to her. If you cross over to where it says Nightmare Depths, she disappears.

So, basically, she needs to be moved to a better location.

The NPC Wavespeaker Valoren would disappear for me whenever I got close to her in the spiral circle shes in. But I managed to turn in my quest...if you inch your way on her right by the star on the ground you'll be able to talk to her....thats what happened with me and thats what Ive figured out lol

if you complete a quest that has breadcrumbs leading to it, and if those breadcrumbs DO count for the relevant loremaster quest achievement, then you WILL be granted credit for them all upon completing the quest.

For example, when I was doing loremaster, I completed a quest in the old Eranikus quest chain in the swamp of sorrows. I handed in 1 quest and was awarded loremaster achievement credit for 3, as that quest had 2 others that lead in to it.

I pick up The Wavespeaker from Captain Taylor in the DarkBreak Cove and then head on over the her and I see the ? on the mini map, but can't see her at all no matter what I do...GM keeps telling me drop and reacquire...i have, and same issue. I have swam all around looking for a missed quests that might resolve this but nothing. I am at a loss and can not complete this or the quests that come after on one character. I had no problems with any other toon. Please help!

Is this quest possible after 20,000 leagues? I can't get the quest from Taylor at Darkbreak Cove. Do I have to go to another location to get him to give me the quest? I'm trying to get the Loremaster achievement, and I'd like to complete this quest, for my own peace of mind.

For those who can't see the NPC Due phassing need to check out this guy: Toshe Chaosrender <The Earthen Ring>
and do all his quests.

GM told me i missed quests from him. this will resolve the problem.

Check out on all spots where he would be and see if he has any quests left for you.

I hope this helps other out too.
