Took me a couple times to figure out that you need to go out of the side door next to Lorna Crowley. You'll follow Mistmantle into the Cathedral area the back way.

He disappears out the door almost as soon as you accept the quest, so be prepared to run after him as soon as you accept it.

If you loose him outside the graveyard like I did, hurry into the Cathedral and hide in the water to the right as you enter. You should soon see Sylvanas and an Orc discussing plans to take over Gilneas. Once the talk is complete you will complete the quest.

If they don't meet, go back and get the quest again.

this is a horrible quest design, if you can catch him before he runs off across the moat, mark him with a raid icon to make tracking him faster. like above posters are saying, he does wind up running into the cathedral and hiding in the water. he's very hard to track because he is dark and blends into the buildings and doesn't innately have a name plate above him for most players unless you've adjusted your name plate settings prior to this. hopefully Blizzard fixes this somehow so he either stands out a little easier or at least has a name plate to follow.

Edit: at the time of turning this in, the quest giver and the worgen warriors standing with her had disappeared for several of us, so either a phasing issue from the quest or horde in another phase killed them because the warriors died in front of us. her question mark was still there on our mini-map in the room with us though. I exited the game and restarted and she was there, so either it fixed the phasing issue or she respawned in the time I was gone.

I have tried this quest 4 times now, and I can't figure it out, there is no man showing up on the screen, so i am pretty lost in how to complete this quest.
Can anyone help me?

as soon as you accept quest target mistmantle - he will run out and then jump across moat - he makes a right - stealth at this point if u can - and heads into the cathedral follow him in - jump in the water with him and listen to the dialogue- done

A bit glitchy....this is how I did it, after trying 3 times, then reading here. I followed him, with my mouse, before i even accepted the quest (for the third frustrating time), by targeting, and immediately set the focus on him, so I knew where he was every second. I think it slowed him down. If you jump in the water, without seeing him, the quest won't work, and you'll have to redo it.

what i did was i stood as far as i could out the door and accepted the quest. as soon as he showed up i centered on him and put an icon over his head. it work

if you accept this quest while facing the same direction lorna crowley is facing you will see tobias appear in front of you. following him is a pain- even while in cat form with a 30% speed increase. as the poster above said- the raid icon makes it much easier.

do not hide in the water inside the cathedral. the horde will not detect you at all here. when sylvanas walks in you can walk right up to her and look into her crimson eyes. it felt good to stare her down until i literally crapped in my britches

at the end of the quest sylvanas's henchman says one of my favorite movie lines ever- but fails to go tumbling down the side of a mountain.

I missed the guy the first time too. After running to the cathedral and back two times, I just dropped the quest and took it again. Then I saw the guy. He pops up and leaves in a hurry, so just be ready. :-)

If you miss this guy you can abandon your quest before leaving the room and get it again.

Or

Immediately go out the door next to Lorna and turn left and head towards the canal. You might see Tobias down the road a bit next to the Canal. He moves fast so If not he's crossed the canal already. Go across the canal here and follow the fence line in front of the Cathedral. Tobias hangs out there for a bit yapping about Sylvanas so you might catch him. After yapping he dashes into the Cathedral and jumps into the pool of water on the right hand side. Jump in after him and wait.

There is no combat on this quest if you follow Tobias' path and avoid the various Forsaken hanging out in front of the Cathedral so you don't have to be real close, just need to get into the pool inside the Cathedral before Sylvanas shows up.

When I came back she was shooting at the air all around the cabin - there was no one there, and she didn't have a "?" above her head.
I re-loged - she was in her spot, still no "?".
I re-loged and it was ok this time... bugged quest.

Yes, Lostelf: note that both of them show up as blues, as if they were players. But this is just like a cut-scene, it just advances the story-line.

I wish I had thot of raid markers b4 I repeated this quest for the 5th time. For those of you who don't know about these, don't go to the outer bridge, you'll only run into a bunch of lvl12 forsaken outside the church. It's three (3) consecutive right turns. Right out the door, right around Lorna's building, then right along the canal to the center of GCity. You'll see Tobias leap over the canal, but you'll swim. Once at the canal, he will say that line about the cathedral (see Jojoza's script, above). I don't remember if you have to cross 1st, but you will to go to the church. Then you can go in. I went in Cat-Prowl, but it seems from above that you don't need to.

First, Mistmantle leads you into the Cathedral Square, to a wall on the opposite side from where you entered, and it is here that you find out about the meeting between Sylvanas and someone else, inside the Cathedral. Then, you go inside, and jump into the water on the right. And I agree, a raid target icon to keep track of him is a good idea.

when you accept the quest turn 180 and follow the worgon dont worry about jumping just run after him going in his footsteps he goes to the wall for some info first then into the lights dawn cathedral and hides in the right hand side water listen to the story and when it finishes it completes the quest wait till eveyone leaves then hand into the quest giver back where you accepted the quest

Very annoying quest, for such a simple thing to do. Maybe that is why its so annoying, perhaps they didn't want to make it too easy. Dumb though.

When you accept the quest immediately turn around. There will be a somewhat large Worgen right behind you and he will take off almost immediately. Don't hesitate to abandon the quest and restart it if you lose him, or you can try to just go where he will end up anyway if you have an idea. It also worked for me to go to the other side of Lorna and turn around, there wasn't room for him to get behind me where I couldn't see him so I got to watch him leave the room.

He will leave the room, turn right, and jump over the canal. On the other side he pauses for a bit whether you are caught up or not, before going through the wall on the left. Just after the wall he turns right and jumps the broken section of that wall, then crossed the courtyard and hides behind the wall to hear Silvanas is meeting someone in the church, pauses an extra minute, tells you that fact, then runs into the church. Once inside the MAIN room of the church he yells "Hide in the water" or some such thing, and jumps into the water that for some unknown reason is at the side of the room. As soon as you have heard what is up the quest will be done, he will fade out, and you'll be left to find your own way back.

I wonder what would happen if you skipped the wall listening and just went into the church. Good luck guys, there are no consequences for restarting as often as you feel the need, but I hope some of this will help you keep up and need to restart less.

it took me a couple of times as well. best way to not tobias mismantle is to stand in the door way next to lorna crowley click her to get quest once you get immediately take one step out of door click on the worgen in the door that will keep tobias mismantle in your sights.

A few tips...
Tobias rezzes in behind you when your talking to Lorna. He then goes out the door you first came in (that being the door that leads out to Greymane Court).
He then follows a path to the rear of the house, jumps the canal, goes through a break in the wall, then stops by a fence that encloses a number of the enemy (he does not attack).
Then to the cathedral. You do not need to be in the water for the quest to start.
Put a target on Tobias to keep an eye on him. Its just easier to have a big shiny object to follow that is magenta colored for some people :)
Its buggy and annoying if you loose him. Some tips suggest to go straight into the cathedral but I did that and waited, and waited... nothing happened and I just had to go all the way back to restart anyway soooo......
If you loose him RESTART the quest!
To hand in, if the ? is not appearing above Lorna.. relog. It fixes it more often than it doesnt.

The two most helpful suggestions I've seen on this thread (both from RachWow) are:

Remember he spawns behind you as soon as you accept the quest. It's easier if you're facing that way first.
Target Tobias and give him a marker. Makes it MUCH easier to follow him.

Another buggy worgen quest. Have a macro set up or have /Target Tobias typed on the command line in chat entry area, pick up the quest, then click enter in order to see Tobias otherwise he is invisible and you can't him. He moves fast so if you lose him, don't waste your time track him, just abandon and start all over again. Another p.o.s worgen quest. cant believe blizz put out this kind of quality in programming.
