As the questgiver says, just follow Ace. When you get to the Naga Leader, don't worry about the buff he has. It'll fall off and he's beyond easy to kill.

Afterwards, just return the way you came. I'm not sure if it's intentional or if its a beta bug, but at least at this point, the naga will not attack you either to or from this quest. The ones on the beach might, but I didnt get close enough to be sure.

If you don't see Naga Leader, just run at broken ladder - you will see black circle and leader pop'up, some small talking and kill him :)

I was a level 9-10 shaman and I can confirm that the Naga on the beach will not attack you as long as you still have the quest in your log. The beach is a good spot for herbing or mining you you might want to take a moment to skill up before turning in the quest.

Star Wars reference here.
When you find "Faceless of the Deep" he utters the words "Now, young <Name>. You will die!"
In Return of the Jedi Emperor Palpatine says "Now, young Skywalker. You will die!" just before he attacks Luke with force lightning.

The next quest in the line Get Back to Town also has a Star Wars connection.
You get a HUUUGE helmet called Dark Tan Helmet.
This is a reference to the spoof movie Spaceballs where Rick Moranis plays the Darth Vader-alike character Dark Helmet. Just imagine a shorter Darth Vader with an oversized helmet :-)

As long as you don't turn in the quest, the Vashj'elan Nagas will remain Unfriendly with you and will not attack unless you attack first. You can use this opportunity to work on your gathering professions without any distractions if you wish, or to check out the surroundings.

When you turn it in, however, they will go back to Hostile/Hated and will attack on sight.

If you are a Rogue, you can stay here and PickPocket for as long as you like. Comes in handy if you are New and don't have a lot of money. Doesn't give a ton, and you won't get rich, but hey.. easy copper.

3 things

1: The text under the guy says "This is their leader? Deal with it!" -- obvious deal with it reference.
2: If you just follow Ace, the boss will not spawn. I actually had to take a few steps past him before the boss spawned. He did his yell and all, but just idled there for ~2 min before I walked forward.
3: The buff did not fall off for me as soon as combat started -- I hit him 1-2 times before it fell off.

This guy hits moderately hard, and you have to hit him a few times to knock off his shield. Depending upon your class you may have to run about to avoid his melee damage. Since he stops to cast avoidable spells, this is readily done.
