I did this with my level 17 gnome Warlock and my friend, a level 14 dwarf Paladin. If you clear all the troggs in the area except the three bosses, this gives you room to fear one of them, while you and a friend work on the other two. Best strategy is to focus on Grawmug first. Voidwalker can tank the other while the third is running around in fear, though the VW tends to get in the way in tight spaces like caves. Once Grawmug is down, you should be able to finish the one your VW has weakened, then take down the one you feared originally.

level 17 warlock: i had no problem what so ever in killing these 3. just send your voidwalker in, immolate, curse of agony and corruption the level 17, start dotting one of the 16's, when he comes close fear him and apply immolation too. turn around and life tap drain life the 17 till hes dead. start attackign the second 16 while you refear the first and redot. the feared one will die quickly, and the one youre dps'ing should die after a little while too. You may have to heal your pet abit, but thats ok. Finished up with 90% health, 40% mana, and a voidwalker on 50%.

Soloed as 16 warlock. Not easy, but highly soloable. Used a healthstone, but both me and my vw survived the fight, and I had a sacrifice in back-up in case it got ugly. Same strat as above, send vw in and get aggro, dot up, fear one while dotted, rince and repeat.

Only thing to remember: Keep right when entering the cave. I kept left, and ended up clearing most of the cave in search of the mobs. :)

I can´t get this quest. I could only get the quest The Trogg Threat and when I turned it in I couldn´t get the In defence of the King's Lands quest. Does anyone know what to do?

One thing nobody really tells you is where the room is in the cave. When you enter the cave it will turn to the left and then branch into 3 directions. Take the path on the right and you will see a small stream running off into a pool. Cross this stream and head just a little further forward and watch to your left and you will see a small room just before the path turns to the right. The 3 are all together in that room.

For you RPers out there, one of the quest rewards, the Dwarven Defender, looks a lot like the shields the Ironforge guards carry. It's a different shape, but it carries the Ironforge crest.

easy mission, well at least after you find the cave, the arrow thing is useless on the minimap, i completed it without dying as a lvl 16 dwarven hunter, and a lvl 16 pet.

One note that pertains to the valley you must pass through en route to the cave is to be REALLY careful of aggro from the various camps. Be ready to deal with 2-3 mobs (sometimes 4 if you are unlucky enough) - use cc if you have it!.
Unless I missed something, there is no way to avoid these valley mobs, even the areas betwen camps have mobs, and it is quite possible to draw aggro from 2 camps simultaneously. Err on the safe side. Commit to one camp, and methodically pull the mobs (generally 2-3 will respond when you make a pull).

Also, once you start heading up th path from the valley to the cave, watch out for roaming mobs. As a level 15 Frost mage (very difficult to deal with multiple mobs) I died once from overlooking this detail..... I was just managing to deal with 3 mobs - keeping one polymorphed while casting on the other two - when the roamer started hitting me from behind(wicked stun and silence move proved to be very frustrating). Alas, I learned that one the hard way.

The cave itself is very easy until you get to the 3 targets (the guards are level 16 and the main man is 17). You cannot pull any of these guys individually, so cc one and hope you can get the other two down low enough (or dead) by the time the other one comes back. The two guards each have the very disruptive stun, which is devistating to casters, to say the least. Melee classes will likely have no problems with this quest, but casters beware!

I've noticed that if you stay in the cave for a while, Grawmug and his two guards leave the place they spawn and run to where you are, along with a couple others, Then they proceed to kill you.

A warning to hunters... good luck finding these guys with humanoid tracking. The hills are right over Uldaman, so you'll pick up almost every mob down there. So many red dots makes it near impossible to track a certain mob.

As a lvl 16 frost mage this wasnt very hard.
I started at max range, kept shooting frost balls at his first guard, the guard died when they reached me.
Then I used Frost Nova on the two remaining mobs.
Polymorph on the second guard and proceeded to kill the "boss" and then the second guard.

solod as a lvl 18 rogue, just sneaked past all the mobs, they arrnt hard, killes all 3 @ same time no problem

just make sure they dont go running off and bring with em the surounding mobs, since tht can be quite alot of em, so make sure you own those first

All three of them can be found by going to the cave entrance at 35,83. Grawmug is at 34,90 in there.

take out Brawler first. he's the one that has the 3 sec stun that will bugger up your healing when you're in a tight spot. it's a resonably easy thing to solo if you're not afraid to blow a potion and maybe some cooldowns if you have 'em

I solo'd this as a 15 lock. Keep one feared and dotted at all times and have your VW tank the other two. The one he is attacking should be the one you are attacking. Repeat with the other non feared mob when the first one dies. Refear and redot when necessary. This is one of those times where it pays to be affliction specced as you have 2 instant dots to put on the feared mob. I had to fear twice and didnt use my healthstone although my VW died at the end. Oh well....lol.

Also, the mobs are located on a cliff that you can reach by following the right hand path.

no but if someone had killed them, and at irregular intervals, the respawns will be staggered in the order thst they were killed. turn this to your advantage by waiting around and killing each as they spawn...

Ok go to the cave that you should have seen before with some lvl 13-15 outside of it. Look ont he map for grawmug to see it. Then go inside just like many other caves choose from the 3 ways. Pick the way leading right. Then go up there and they will be off to the left.

As a level 16 Rogue, I ganked and shanked my way through the cave. Went the wrong way the first time and had to back track. When I was clearing the room below the boss, somehow they all aggro'd upstairs and came down and killed me. O_O Kept going, a few people showed up and killed the boss before I got there so I kept the hallway clear and waited for the respawn. I took out Brawler first, died, ghostwalk/res'd, killed Grawmug, died, ghostwalk/res'd, killed Gnasher, hearth'd. Had a repair bill of a whooping 3s, oh noes!

Took about an hour but that was mostly due to taking a wrong turn at the beginning and waiting for the respawn. If you have some decent potions (unlike me) you can probably get two of them down before dying. Beware of pats!

Go in the cave, follow it around the bend till you can go 3 different ways. Take the route on the right, follow that way a bit, go across the enterance of this small creek, up a small hill, and they're right around the corner to the left. It's a small niche that you could easily miss if you don't pay attention.

Solo'd it with a 16 NE Warrior just minutes ago. Was a little bit of a pain, but if you're careful (and have a few pots) you should be fine...

I just soloed this as a level 16 mage. Cleared out everything around them, renewed frost armor, and made sure I had a lesser healing potion in my action bar.
I just cast flamestrike on all 3, waited for them to surround me, and started spamming arcane explosion. Downed the potion as soon as I needed it, and kept going. Eventually they all started to run, and I got two with another explosion, but the third snagged another add on his way back. I woulda survived if it wasn't for that, but I managed to kill the third before dying.

I found this NPC in the southern guard tower, but he wont give me the quest (im level 14 rogue). Why?

Soloed, level 18 mage. Pretty tricky, no health pots used.

• Clear the outside of the cave, and the inside leading up to the guards and Grawmug.

• Start at maximum range (there is a big "hall" to run down in the opposite direction of the three Troggs to gain maximum range). Cast fireball on Grawmug.

• Sheep Brawler or Gnasher and wait from Grawmug and the whichever guard you didnt sheep to approach.

• Cast Frost Nova and run back towards the sheeped guard. Resheep him and quickly turn around.

• Cast frostbolt on the FN'd guard, and Fireball on Grawmug.

• Kill Grawmug with Fire Blast / Wand quickly, and run towards the cave entrance.

• You should have plenty of mana left, so just kite the previously FN'd guard (who you just casted Frostbolt on) with Frostbolt to the area outside the entrance. Kill him with Fire Blast / Wand.

• Now the sheeped guard should be coming towards you, or you should be out of range. If he is coming towards you, kill him with Fireballs, and if needed use Frost Nova. If he isn't coming simply go back into the cave and kill him.

Tested and succeeded on Aeosz, lvl 18 mage, Spinebreaker US.

Soloed with 17 paladin on the second try. First try went bad only because they for some reason seemed to crit very often... second try, it was much better, used a pot and a bubble with an add but it wasn't too bad.

Died on the way out though :D

Soloed as a lvl 14 Gnome Warlock...just put the voidwalker to attack the boss,i used immolate,corruption,curse of agony and then shadow bolts.In order to kill it you need to get to the road from where you can attack from far.After killing it my void died and i died as well ^^

wtf.. watch the "middle" room of the cave.. they might agro u trough the walls... and then they bring even more friends.. nice bug..
apart from that quest ez, some classes (read warriors) should bring a friend or a healing pot.

Make sure you watch out for the through the wall aggro, just like the above poster said. A hunter and I were doing this quest, we cleared the large central room and I saw a chest on my find treasure skill, went to look for it turned around and there were nearly 15 troggs in the room. Ok more like 5 or 6 but it seemed like 15. I never did find the chest either.

I solod as a 16 subtle rogue...easy as cake....just sap everything on way in, didnt get caught once, clear the couple around the trio, then sap one...down one and die run back get em both with evasion on, sneak back out

I first sent vw in to tank and concentrated my fire on one of them.
Then killed the second one using healthstone to stay alive
Sacrifised vw in the end then feared lvl 17 and summoned a new vw

This was easy, i did at as a lvl 16 rogue!

Garroted gnasher and took him out before being killed.. came back and garroted brawler and killed him and then the other, only died once! Use the sharpening rocks you get from the previous quest, i found that helped

Starting from the southwest keep, where the guy gives you the quest. Travel north up the path for a short distance and take your first right. You will come up a gentile ridge into Stonesplinter Valley. If you look to your left you will see a camp of Troggs. Past the camp is path through the hills out of the valley that heads towards the Loch. (Don’t go down there alone under level 14-15.) To the right of this path is the entrance up to another narrow path. (Immediate right, not up further into the valley.) Take this path up and watch your agro. To the right and up the hill you will see a camp fire with some Troggs around it. They are standing right outside a cave. This is the cave where Grawmug is. The cave is a figure 8 shape and he is in the back right corner.

When I first received this quest at level 17 I was having a spot of trouble finding these guys. I was being silly and did not come to this website. (btw thanks for being here Allakhazam)

Just did this with my dwarf lvl 18 priest. First time I tried it when bad. They have interup and stun moves that hit thru shield. When I did first shield and was almost done casting heal was hit with an interup. So try casting again and was stunned. By the time I came around the shield was gone so I knew I was dead. The second try I was able to take all 3 down. Killed in order of Gnasher(16), Brawler(16) then Gawmug(17). I pulled all 3 both trys. Had cleared the right side path and was behind them. Finished the fight with about 200H and 100M. Started with 550H and 900M. Did not use any pots or buffs beyond Fort and Inner Fire. Just have to take your time. And watch of for the stuns.

And people say priest can't solo. :) And just incase anyone was wondering. Not I am not twinked. In greens with stats as 25,22,39,61,59 and 560ac w/Inner Fire and Fort.

Solo'd this as a 17 Warrior. I died once taking out one of the body guards, then came back and finished the the other and the boss off with life to spare.

I found Brawler & Gnasher, but Grawmug was nowhere to be found. I figured some other player had killed him so I slew Brawler & Gnasher & waited around for Grewmug's respawn. After while they all came at me, but since the quest tracking already showed the bodyguards as slain, I concentrated on Grewmug & finally killed him just before dying myself. The quest tracker showed all three, Grewmug, Gnasher & Brawler, as slain and my quest journal shows the quest is complete. So I just let the spirit healer restore me instead of going back for my corpse - seeing no need to return to Stonesplinter Valley since I'd completed the task. But then I couldn't find Rugelfuss, until I realized the quest journal says "southern" and not south pass - I'd been looking at south pass, when he's at Valley of the Kings tower.

Solo'd as a level 14 mage... would not suggest that. I happened to get there when one of them was dead so I only had to kill the 2 (polymorphed one; killed one; killed the other one v. one). Then all 3 respawn so I figure I'll just instant spam the one, but they all have like a 2 second stun so I was nearly stun locked and barely got to kill the one before just dying like I meant to. At my level I died plenty of times trying to clear to them and whatnot, I had plenty of spell fails.

didnt have much trouble as a group of a 17 hunter and a 17 paladin. we just took the guards first and made sure we didnt pull grawmug then it was smooth sailing didnt use any health but my hunters 17 pet spider did die.

lvl 24 Priest, solo'd, having been trying it for the last few lvl's but it wasn't until 24 that it got easy. I tried pulling but all 3 came at me, no problem though.

When you enter Stonesplinter Valley, to the left there is a wide path north of a trogg campfire, and a narrower trail north of the wide path. Clear out and go up the narrow trail, and to the right there will be a cave. Enter the cave and when you get to the 3-way fork, go down the center path and Grawmug and co. will be on a high ledge.

Completed this as a lvl 17 Warrior with a lvl 17 mage, and we died only once because we accidentally aggroed Grawmug, his buddies, and about 6 other troggs that were close by to the the big 3 from the ground floor. When we went back and found the way up the ledge, we cleared out the regular troggs. Sheeped Grawmug, frost nova'd the other two, and killed one apiece. Then we took out Grawmug, no problem. There was a tin vein and a chest nearby. Then we boogied out of the cave and turned in the quest.

Warriors - be careful with Charge because this cave has many nooks and crannies that are excellent at hiding other troggs just waiting to take you out. Also, Shield Bash is your friend when dealing with Shaman with healing powers =)

Soloed as a 19 Rogue, and it wasn't close.

Stealthed in, spent a bit of time killing various troggs while looking for these guys. Finally found them, and cleared out the tunnel behind them. I stealthed up, sapped one guard, and popped Evasion. Took down Grawmug first, then the first guard. Around the time he was down, the sapped guard woke up, and I took care of him too.

It might be easy to solo this quest as as mail or leather wearer, but as a mage/cloth wearer, its quite a different story. Tried soloing this several times as a 22 Mage with fairly good gear. All 3 named were up. Sheeped the highest one (he was 17, the other 2 were both 16). That was about the last cast I got off. The other 2 agroed and I was constantly getting either stunned or knocked down which very efficiently interupted/canceled my casting. I do mean constant - during the entire fight I was able to start casting 1 time before I got interruted, otherwise, I was either stunned or laying on my back. Anyway, a few seconds later, the sheeped mob becomes unsheeped (far far sooner than expected) and also agros. Fight didn't last very long. Same results each time I tried this. Need a group for this or a few more levels (at which point, I'm sure it will go gray on me). Any cloth wearers at about my level who have successfully done this solo, I'd like to know how (melee types need not reply..lol). If I could at least take out 1 of em, I could come back and take out the other two, but was completely unable to do even that...the mob I was fighting didn't even get 1/2 way down.

Did this with my (then) 18 Mage and a 17 Priest.

Sheep'd the 17, the 16's aggro'd on me. Let off a frost nova, stepped back and we both nuked one of the 16's. The first one died just as the second unfroze, but it was too late for this poor trogg too, he got the fire all in his face. Then I blasted away on the sheep'd 17 with some heals from the priest.

Quick and mostly painless.

I soloed this as a 16 Rogue. The two guards actually reset sooner then Grawmug does, so it was just a matter of sprinting by them and killing Grawmug after the guards ran back.

Completed this today. If your group tries to take the center room that has the 3 named up top on the overhang, you will agro them and they will run around through the cavern and bring around 6 more adds.

You can get up to their spawn point by turning right after entering the cave. Clear the cavern around them, and pull them to your group.

They can be taken down by 4-5 players in the 13-16 range safely. A group of 3 or less at that level will be really rough and probably require multiple retries.

Did this quest as a lvl 15 Warrior with a lvl 14 rogue. We started by taking out the first lvl 16. He died fairly quickly, then we took out the other lvl 16. The lvl 17 was quite easy, although we needed to use healing potions after the guards were dead.

I just soloed it with a lvl 16 mage, with one time flamestrike and then only arcane exploision. lol, it was harder to fiend them then to kill them xD

I soloed this quest with my level 22 dwarf warrior but only after dying once. The posts helped me locate the cave, and even the ledge with Grawmug and his henchmen. However, nobody indicated HOW to reach the ledge. I figured let's take aim and shoot, which worked, sort of. He moved away from the ledge and returned soon after. I took another shot, and he disappeared once again.

So, here I am, just hanging around in the cavern, when I got melee attacked. Grawmug and his friends must have followed some hidden path down. I was not prepared, and died after a brief battle. I came back in spirit form, circled left, then right, and located the path onto the ledge. My advice is to take that fork and follow the stream, which will lead you to Grawmug.

Now, regarding who can solo, if you can handle three mobs at once, then go for it, if not, bring a small group. My dwarf has all green gear in the high to mid teens, used one copper bomb to slow down the assault, had a stamina buff, and recently sharpened axe blade. He took a beating but did not have to use healing potion or bandage during the battle.

Just soloed this myself as a lvl 21 warrior. Maybe needless to say it wasn't very difficult, but finding them was a major pain. They are indeed in the largest cavern, the one to the right of the bonfire when you ascend the lefthand way. Go right when entering the cave, then you will need to cross a small stream.

The battle with the three named took about 4-5 seconds. I fired up Retaliation while holding my Hefty Battlehammer of the Whale, and they basically did themselves in :)

once you're in stonesplinter valley on the map you should go into the area where there are two caves right next to each other, go into the first cave you come into. the other cave won't even be big enough to search through so don't worry about choosing the wrong one, you'll know.

Did this solo as a Lock lv18. Myself and my imp killed Gnasher first casting Curse of Agon and Corruption, had to use Healthstone but still died....then used soulstone and took out Basher and Grawmug easily.

Just finished this at lvl 15 with a lvl 16 druid.

We had 2 deaths becuase in the pit with the chest inside right under them, my pet kept aggroing them and they would rush down and bring all there friends with them. We did manage to kill Grawmug before our 2nd death.

So, we got out of there THEN summoned. Went up, accidently aggroed the last 2 and an add but they were no problem.

So, if you are a hunter do not summon your pet in the pit below them.

soloed this as a level 22 mage. took the path around the far right and came up behind them on their ledge. nailed the the first with frostbolt, fireball, fireblast and arcane explosion. frost nova'd the other two and nuked the second one same as the first. frost nova'd the last, drank a health potion, and finished him off. was pretty weak at the end, but i made it.

very easily soloable by a 15 hunter.
sent pet in (boar) after one of them, pulled one onto me, and then focused on the wone the boar was fighting. then the boar took one off of me, then spamed on that one, killed him and by this time boar was almost dead so took a second to heal him and then finished hte last guy. easy

It was somewhat amusing to see a lvl 17 warrior who was fighting near me die 3 times while i didn't die at all...especially since my main char is a lvl 60 warrior :)

I'm having trouble finding these guys in the Trogg caverns. I can see them on the mini map but
have never been able to get to them. My question
is are they in one of the caves or outside up on a ledge. If they are in the cave is it the one that has the camp/bond fire outside

argh, i just couldn't find these guys. so i minimized the game to look at these comments, but when i got back to the game, i was already dead - lol - lesson 1: when minimizing the game, go stand on a safe place... ^^

Soloable as a lvl 17 mage with two deaths which one doesn't count because I accidentally ran right into them. ;P
Keep right inside the cave until you come to a T and they're on the left. Clear to the right, mana and heal up. Sheep the 17, frost nova the other two, spam your arcane explosion until they're dead and die when the 17 comes after you. Res at your body, mana, heal and kill him.

Note: this quest have 4 versions:

In Defense of the King's Lands 1/4: Mountaineer Cobbleflint of the southern guard tower wants you to kill 10 Stonesplinter Troggs and 10 Stonesplinter Scouts.
In Defense of the King's Lands 2/4: Mountaineer Gravelgaw in the southern guard tower wants you to kill 10 Stonesplinter Skullthumpers and 10 Stonesplinter Seers and report back to him.
In Defense of the King's Lands 3/4: Mountaineer Wallbang in the southern guard tower wants you to kill 10 Stonesplinter Shaman and 10 Stonesplinter Bonesnappers.
In Defense of the King's Lands 4/4: Kill the Trogg leader, Grawmug, and his two guards, Gnasher and Brawler then report back to Captain Rugelfuss in the southern guard tower.

Did this quest solo as a 18 warrior : Killed one, slowed and un-aggro the other two then came back full life to finish the job.

I tried to kill them through AOE yesterday (Blizzard, Frost Nova) and almost managed it (2 were trying to run away) but died. What worked for me:

clear out the surrounding area of other troggs
sheep the highest level of the three bosses (level 17)
frost nova the other two when they get close to you
single target (eg frostbolt) Brawler down (he's the most annoying one with stuns and interrupts)
take a healing pot and/or resheep the 17 and/or run away (this is why you want to clear the surrounding area) to bandage, eat, etc.
depending on your level/experience, once Brawler is dead you can either take on the other two at the same time or repeat the sheeping process

Sometimes there's a chest on the ledge they're standing on too. Hope this helps

In addition to the previous three "In Defense of the King's Lands" quests for this chain, The Trogg Threat is also required to be completed before you will be able pick up this quest.

Descrizione

<name>, our scouts have identified the leader of this recent Trogg incursion. It appears that these beasts in Loch Modan are following the lead of a chieftain named Grawmug. Grawmug is heavily guarded, however. Two of his most elite guards, Gnasher and Brawler, never leave his side.

If you feel yourself worthy, <name>, I want you to lead the assassination mission on Grawmug and his two thugs. With the Trogg leadership dead, we just might stand a chance at pushing these beasts back into the ground.
