Just did this quest as a lvl 80 druid. Killed the multiple Enraged Foulweald with ease, and thought that the quest had bugged. It took nearly thirty full seconds before Murgut appeared. If he doesn't come out, don't give up for a bit!

Do not use skills like Stealth or Prowl between the kills, you'll have to plant the banner again and start over.

It took us ~ 2:00 minutes for him to show up. I thought the quest was bugged. But we sat there patiently. He eventually showed up. Late though!

This has vastly changed from the old quest. Do NOT go to the location of the old quest, as it has changed to a new spot. You'll have to kill a couple of level 23 or 24 mobs to get to the "totem mound", which is just a rock at 56.4, 63.6 (check the zone map out, Blizz has a quest waypoint there) surrounded by totem logs, a campfire, etc.

Once you plant the banner, a total of about seven lvl 23 or 24 mobs will run towards the "mound" to battle you. They come one at a time, probably 15 to 20 seconds apart. When they're all dead, you may have to wait a while for Chief Murgut to appear. Kill and loot him, and you're done.

Hmm I guess I was fortunate Thanks the coordinates were great and the vein of tin ore was still there thanks to TheR0nin and LuvMyLock .

I was able to complete this quest as a lvl 26 Worgen Feral Druid without too much difficulty just used cat form and a lot of use of Mangle Rake and Ferocious Bite I said I think I was fortunate as I was only attacked by about 4 lvl 24's the fifth one charged then disappeared, then had quite a wait before the Chief turned up I hope this helps a few others attempting this quest :)

Sorry I can't be more specific as to the exact spot, but DO NOT stand on top of the mound when you summon the banner! It spawned right on top of me, and I couldn't move until after the encounter, when it despawned again! Now why couldn't they have just made it non-solid? : /

Funnily enough, while I was waiting for it to go away, a tin vein spawned in the exact same spot, and my camera ended up inside *that* as well! Good thing I'm a miner!

Funny because requires lvl 19 and the chain start quest requires lvl 21 :| so a 20 level tank can't start it...

I've had the rod since vanilla. Finally working on my loremaster and handed in this quest since the posts here say it's safe up until the next quest.

But what has not been updated is the info about the rod being changed to item number 46739 - only works in Ashenvale.

Yeah, I'm exalted with Timbermaw and can buy Stave of Fur and Claw, but the hour cool down sucks. :(

If you have the old rod, don't turn in any more quests. They'll steal the good rod and give you the crap one.

A few things with this quest...First, the mound you have to place the flag on is not glowing like you would expect to see in other quests that have you "activate" stuff. Its just a big rock in the middle of the camp that's surrounded by logs. If you find the big rock, place the flag down. I fought about ten enraged foulweads or whatever they were called before the chieftain arrived. Also, you won't be able to target the banner so you won't see how much hp it has. I ended up waiting a bit before the chieftain arrived to.

Take this Bloodtooth tribe banner a short ways northeast into Greenpaw Village and place it upon their totem mound. They will consider this an act of aggression and try to destroy the banner. Hold your ground until their chief, Murgut, appears to save face for the tribe, then kill the traitor!
