This quest broke my heart. Many a flight path have I spent flying from Moonglade to Darnassus and watching as the Dancing Trolls rolled by beneath me.

Forgive me, Boogie Trolls. I only harm you for Loremaster credit. I shall come and dance with you again! *tear*

Kind of an annoying quest, I think the Lor'danel Sentinels flying above are causing too much damage with a lot of the mobs, not giving me credit. Even if they only hit it once, this seems to happen. They also shoot fire arrows that burn beneath the trolls feet, meaning you have to wait for them to reset so you can actually get the credit.

EDIT: Turns out you can jump on a Vengeful Protector. That would have made things easier...

You have to use the purple Vangeful Protectors in the water to destroy the buildings.

Just to be clear:
To destroy the buildings, stand in front of one, and press 2 (while you're on the Vengeful Protector). The moonbeam-looking item will make it go up in flames. For me, I could stand in one place and just destroy them one after another without moving, but that could have been a fluke. Hope this helps :)

Be sure to dismiss your pet/minion before mounting the ancient. I didn't do that the first time I tried this quest. It let me mount and ride the ancient around but I couldn't kill any trolls or destroy any buildings. I couldn't even dismount the vehicle. I had to log out. When I logged back in I was standing in the nearest graveyard, which happened to be another long walk away.

I dismissed my minion before trying it the 2nd time and it worked fine.

This quest is irritating... I did what grauwyler said dismissed pet I had out since I couldn't do crap. Ran all the way back n tried again without pet n guess what still can't do crap no killing the trolls can't torch the structures ... So I abandoned the quest restarted WoW n accepted quest again n still same thing can't get off protector can't torch nothing n can't kill the trolls... WTF sighs ... anyone have any suggestion and is on Shadow Council mail me in game or add me.... Char I am playing the most right now is my worgen warrior Shanika

I can not figure out how to do Shatterspear Structures destroyed. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

The Vengeful Protectors are located in the shallow pond in the middle of Shatterspear Vale right in front of Kerlonian Evershade - (69.5, 19.6 for those of you who are blind like me). You can jump on, stomp to stun the Trolls by pressing 1, and then blow the buildings up by pressing 2. Relatively short cool downs for both abilities.

Just to make it clear, this quest is absolutely optional. You can just continue on to deliver the arrow to Huntress Sandrya Moonfall up the hill.

Seriously, this quest is pretty $%^&ing evil, especially since a) the trolls' only offence was to excavate the Highborne ruins, only attacking the night elves when when threatened, and b) it seems apparent they were more or less coerced by the Horde to do even that much.

If you want to do this quest without feeling completely horrible, take the ancient and swim him to the left to kill/moonfire trolls and huts in a couple multi-story buildings (that area on the other side of the bridge away from the dancing ones). Yes, you can climb stairs and you'll be killing actual aggressor trolls and not dancing civilians ):!

This quest felt like balls to me. I wish they hadn't kept the NPCs dancing. It feels like they know they're doomed and they're just dancing because ... They're the Dancing Troll Village, and that's what they'll always be.

For people who aren't aware, Garrosh recruited them into the Horde (they had been neutral until then) and then forced a push into Darkshore. In fact, some people speculated they were a branch off of the original Dark Trolls that are believed to have evolved into Night Elves. If you're looking for someone to be mad at about this, don't look at the Shatterspear, look at Garrosh.

Worst feeling ever doing this quest.

However, if you feel like this is "unfair", the Alliance have made a more active push into Azshara - which is the Kalimdor equivalent of Darkshore as far as level range and progression on the continent. Before they were kind of just "there", like the Shatterspear ... except the Shatterspear had always been completely neutral.

Walk over bridge to row of three buildings and u can move around back and forth and ignite the same three buildings each twice to get the edifice kills, just keep clicking one to shock kill trolls. ANOTHER ridiculous carnival ride, arcade mini game in the middle of the adventure campaign if u ask me. I hate these things.

You should have the quest The Front Line which allows you to continue and finish this quest. Confused me a little...

While you're here though, we could certainly use your help with routing the rest of their tribe. Go ahead and take the company of one of the Vengeful Protectors there and see to it that every last building is destroyed and every last troll killed. We can't have them coming back for revenge when we're less prepared, can we?]
