Can anyone provide info on where this quest comes from or the origin of the chain?

You need to have completed the series that ends with Field Repairs (Alliance) or Field Repairs (Horde). That quest repairs a horde siege engine for you to use, and makes visible the ghostly Matthias Lehner next to it, who gives you this quest.

He's standing apparently at two place at the same time. The real Matthias Lehner where you need to turn this in, stands a little north from the Matthias Lehner you got the quest from.

After several failed attempts resulting in very nasty deaths, I finally managed to complete this quest by not straying too far from the original Refurbished Demolisher and driving back to it once my health got very low. I was then able to leave the vehicle and mount a new one to start again.... and instead of moving all the time as I was at first, stop and kill whatever is ahead to clear the way first, then move forward just enough to target more. I also stood my ground for the giants, repeatedly pounding them until they died. So, don't stray too far, and run back for a new demolisher if your health gets too low. :-)

Very hard to see if you're zooming around on an epic flying mount.
He is indeed @ 64,44

When you get to the run down camp, look for the broken ballista, if it is pointing to you, look to the left, if your facing the same direction as the ballista, look to the right.

I added a picture, but i put 66,44. actual coords are 64,44

Very easy, for a vehicle quest.

The key is to take it slow. It won't take as long as you think. The Demolisher has two attacks;

1) Fire a shot that does tons of damage in a wide area
2) Speed burst

Make your way up the field, kill the ghouls if they aggro. You'll find packs and packs of them clumped together further up north. Almost directly north of where you start is the Forward Camp where you turn this in, so keep that in mind.

Don't rush into packs of ghouls, just target them from a distance. One shot is enough to get rid of them, though if you do happen to have stragglers you can target them just off to the left of the machine. If you take it easy and clear the field as you go you shouldn't take any real damage. The only problem comes from the Bone Giants, as they take three or four hits to down.

It might also be wise to clear the area around the camp as the next quest starts and ends there as well.

Thanks a lot for the coordinates, questhelper very kindly sent me off to 71,37 which is FAR from the right ones! Very annoying. I found this one of the easiest vehicle-quests so far, as you have a good overview and a lot of distance from the target and everything but bone-giants get killed with one shot. I managed to do it in one go as you don't get much trouble from ghouls since they don't do much damage up close and can be eliminated with one shot.

If you have a group you don't actually need to use the demolishers. Ordinary kills still count for the objective unlike some vehicle quests.

I was doing this quest today, when I suddenly didn't get kill counts. I checked both my quest log and questhelper, neither said I was done with the kills, so I don't know what happened.

Just jumped out of the vehicle, and got a new one. Worked then.

I tried doing this quest just after Cata came out and had to give it up as I was never able to locate the "refurbished" demolisher. There were two smashed ones in the camp but I never found one that was usable (wasted about 20 minutes combing the area). As mentioned previously, the kid was very hard to see from above. Someone suggested that if you face a broken ballista and look to the right or left, depending on how you are facing, you will see the demolisher you are supposed to use. I tried this with each of the broken ones and got nothing. Ticket submitted.

Also, if you stop your flying mount over the area and try to sort things out (or type in stuff like this), you get zapped by some sort of a shadow bolt from a Magus somehwere.

The Refurbished Demolisher is located at coords 68.1 - 52.0 (Just in case the thing gets trashed and you need another ... lol)
