I am a Dwarf Hunter. I had problems surviving the trip down to Magmothregar. I was constantly aggroing all kinds of mobs and dying. I read about Priests floating down through the hole in the roof, right on top of him. So. I went to Gadgetzan and got some Noggenfogger. I stood at the hole in the roof and kept hitting the Noggenfogger till I got the 20 sec float buff and jumped. Killed Magmothregar and fought my way up, doing an escort quest I got at the bottom. Had very few attacks on the way up. Maybe because of the escort. BTW, I didn't know it was water down below until after I landed. Prob did not have to worry about it in the first place. But, I will keep this technique in mind for the future.

Confirmed, I tried this today, no potions or anything. Just jump down the hole right on top of him. You land straight in the middle of the water and take no damage. Saves a lot of time since respawn times are so fast here you will end up fighitng most of the monsters twice if you take the long way down. To get to the hole go to the entrance of the cave and bear right. Travel along the edge of the hill until there is a path up.

Okay, after killing him multiple times and being unable to put the banner on him, I finally searched the internet and found out:

1. Put on the costume, doesn't matter if you jump in the hole or go down the ramps.
2. Kill Magmothregar (pretty easy with my 71 pally)
3. Take off your costume (right click on it's picture left of your mini-map, in case you didn't know how)
4. Try to place the banner, if you can cool, if you can't then put the costume back on.
5. Place the banner, it should work now if it didn't when you took your costume off.

I seriously killed him 15 times before i finally found out the ways to do this, it's buggy, but 4 or 5 should work.

3. Target dead body and click on banner
4. ......
5. Profit

I tried taking off my costume and it said to put it back on before I placed the banner. Just wear the costume until you place the banner, then take it off and get the escort quest.

If u go to the air strip and up to the matter transporter thingo u can get a parachute to help u float down to the bottom...
the only problem is getting off the rock in the sky were u get there parachute

Not sure why, but for the banner to actually plant you have to click on Magmothregar first, then click on the banner.

I'm not sure if there's a work around, but this sucked as a feral druid.

Can't wear the disguise in form, and don't have any mana or spell power to kill him. :(

It doesn't matter if allys try to frame the orcs (doesn't surprise they would need to go to those lengths), because even if they attacked the orcs, they'd die, and then the horde would pwn those smelly little gnomes base into the ground.

And at least we don't pollute the water like those munchkins do.

concerning "it was the orc's, honest" quest....i tried to plant the banner 4 times before I realized that you have to loot the guy, THEN LEFT CLICK HIS BODY....then you wont have any trouble planting the banner. Boy do I feel stupid. :{

Start the escort quest Fammi uscire da qui! before killing and planting the banner in Magmothregar. He has a quick respawn timer.

Anywhere in the center of the pool around Magmothregar is deep enough to not crater when you hit it. You can also just drop straight off the ledge onto the ground outside of the water, I took about 60% damage jumping off and ran in and killed Magmo straight away.

I just completed this quest and the reputation I received was with Valiance Vanguard, not Valiance Expedition. I am still 1 point away from revered with Expedition.

Found a quite funny glitch. You can use moonkin or tree form while wearing this without losing the buff. Then go outside and mount up, again, without losing moonkin/tree form - so when you fly away and the buff wears off, you're suddently a mounted moonkin/tree of life :)
Caution though, when logging, make sure you're not 2 gazillion miles in the air, cause you will not be mounted when logging in ;)

Dear fellow druids, make sure you're not shapeshifted when you put on the costume, otherwise the banner placement won't count. I had to go back and kill him again cause I didn't realize this.

Otherwise, the quest was pretty straight forward. I flew in through the hole in the top of the cave and was able to get over to the side of the pool before it switched me out of bird mode. The Magmothregar was easy enough to kill, but on the way back up with the escort quest I got swamped and not only did my escort get killed, but I got killed as I was running toward the entrance. It might be worth fighting your way down to clear the way a bit for the trip back up.

For those of you like me who were struggling to find the entrance, the coordinates are (53,13).

Wow, this is really, really hard. For a start, the entrance to the cave (a proper entrance, not a "jump in this hole and die from fall damage" entrance) is impossible to find, if there even is one. The roaming mobs will aggro at the drop of a hat and have a very quick repop timer - I had some repop on me while I was eating/drinking after killing the previous spawns. The Shamans' Fire Totems do stupid amounts of damage and are impossible to find if you aggro them on sloped ground, as they glitch out and disappear into the rock, making them immune to you but still able to kill you.

The first Northrend quest I abandoned.

Go to the end of the runway & follow the base of the mountain around to your left to the cords 55.13. Go in the cave & go down to the bottom.

Just went into the cave, and used Warsong Orc Disguise. Jumped down, healed myself, killed Magmothregar and planted Warsong Banner.

After killing Magmothregar and looting, click on the corpse to select it before using the banner while wearing the costume! Magmothregar repops very quickly so be careful!

While disguised as a Warsong orc, plant the Warsong Banner in the corpse of Magmothregar. Then, return with the disguise to Crafty Wobblesprocket at Fizzcrank Airstrip.

With all of those outfits you, er, recovered, I fashioned a Warsong orc disguise. I had the genius idea of combining it with some old stuff that I had left hanging around from last Hallows' End, so it should be foolproof!

Here, in this sack is the disguise and the banner you recovered. Head down into the bowels of Magmoth and slay the magnataur chieftain, Magmothregar.

If you're going to convince them to turn their attention on the Warsong orcs, you'll need to plant the banner while disguised.
