To complete this quest you speak to Cassa Crimsonwing who is standing right beside the gryphons at the Flight Path. She does not have a yellow ? over her head, but as soon as you mount the gryphon you get the completed text.

Actually, you don't get the completed text till after the gryphon turns around and starts heading back. Didn't try the mount trick, but on foot you do in fact have to ride the gryph and stay on it the whole time to get the objective.

Thinking it would auto-dismount like a flightmaster I rode in and talked to her. "you are already mounted, dismount first" I got the quest complete anyway. However I re-clicked on the option to accept the flight and had to go around anyway.

You don't auto dismount while attempting to fly with a Gryphon. For this quest however you can talk to the NPC in shapeshifted form (Druid, Shaman, Dartol's Rod, etc.) to complete the quest without actually taking off.

All you have to do is spin in circles using 'a' or 'd' to complete the quest without taking off. (for all non-druids/shamans/etc.)

Right now, Im a level 35 feral Druid. I swam there but instead if going straight to the dock, I swam around the island. I havent been caught yet by the hydras, but I will be.

So I just wanted to say that it is possible to got to the island without flying.

I'm a 46 and I went with 2 of my 70 friends. I died a couple of times, but yeah, I think they killed the boss. If you are below 60, do not attempt to swim over there unless you have guards. I REPEAT do NOT attempt to swim over there...unless you are a stupid rogue who goes stealth in bushes XD Good times...

As of Patch 3.0.2 she doesn't give the followup "Warn Bolvar" due to story advancement. Instead Jaina says this after you turn this quest in:

"I had arranged for a secret summit between Warchief Thrall and King Wyrnn, here in Theramore.
The king was to travel here by ship, in secret. But the ship never arrived, and King Wrynn disappeared.
Your help enabled us to connect the Defias to the mastermind behind the abduction, Onyxia, who was posing as a member of the royal court.
Meanwhile, the king managed to escape his captors, and returned to Stormwind to deal with Onyxia.
I will send word that you have discovered the link to the Defias. I was a fool to think them broken with the defeat of Edwin Vancleef, and King Wrynn will want to make an example of all who remain."

For those of you after the achievement and are horde, most of the hydras around the island are lvl 59-60 elite. You can swim close to the island and get the discovery without agroing them; however, I took my lvl 60 BM hunter and I soloed one to get the achievement. I wouldn't suggest lowbie horde heading out there without an escort.

Simply go to the flight path person but near him theres a femals dwarf talk to her tell her you need a gryphon and your done. Enjoy =]

If you talk to her twice while mounted you'll complete the quest w/o flying.

Fixed as of 3.1, you now need to actually mount the gryphon. You will not recieve credit if you are mounted or shapeshifted.

All you have to do is Speak to the Girl Dwarf (Sorry, forget her name) next to the Flight Master. She offers you a flight around the Island and go take a bio break because all u have to do is sit there and right!

The island's name reminds me of the Alcatraz Prison, which is also located on an Island xP

Dr. Weavil? A clear reference to Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers trilogy. And the island it self is probarbly a reference to Alcatraz (can's spell :P) the old prison island outside San Francisco.

The island as said is a refrence to Alcatraz, the legendary 'inescapable' prison in San Francisco Bay.

Be sure NOT to swim to the island; you'll be dead in seconds.

As the other post says, run towards the docks in Theramore to the gryphon master and speak to the red haired woman next to him - cords 67,51. Her name is Cassa Crimsonwing, and she's an apprentice gryphon master. She'll give you a griffin to ride on, and you'll fly over the island. Once you land, quest over! Just go back to Lady Jaina Proudmoore - cords 66,48, in Theramore Isle on the top floor of the large tower, and get your 40 silver.

Very easy quest, for those of you who don't have coords simply go to the elf who is the Gryphon Master, if you are facing the gryphon the lady is to your right. Simple as they come.

Please please please please, take the fecking griffin over the island. I tried for three hours to get onto the island by swimming. God did that go fecking wrong. Its an easy mission but its really easy to miss read the mission breifing.

As many tiems as I've flown from and to Theramore, I never realized or noticed the woman. She's standing a bit to the right of the fp guy and she's a dwarf so she's easy to miss. As others have noted, she doesn't have a yellow ? so you have to click on her.

if you do not want to fly around just make sure you are mounted when you talk to the dwarf lady,

if you are mounted and select the option to ride the griffon, it will tell you to dismount first, but right click her a second time while still mounted and select the option to ride the griffon, and it shoudl register as completed

even easier than flying around doing nothing

u dont need 2 fly there jst swim but stay in the light end of the boundly or if ur a druid lik me jst use seal form :P

For those of you thinking that you'll just swim there for fun, as a level 38, all the mobs were lvl ?, and a lot of them were elites, and they were close together, so it would be hard to single pull. Unless you're a high level player doing a quest you should have done ages ago, just take the freaking flight.

What happens after u hand the quest in? nothing happened for me... do u get a quest after doing this one? i would like to know what happens next in the chain because its not finished... jaina knew that the defias joined the black dragonflights, we dont know why though and it just ended.......

I found cassa and the same thing happened to me that happened to certiorariseveneight, but if you do that, you won't be able to finish the chain of quests, so if you don't want to lose xp, then I recommend that you dismount first.

Sweet quest for the experience IMO. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Cassa Crimsonwing is to the left of the two Gryphons and the gryphon master, so don't go running all around to look for her like I initially did.

don't know if it was a mishap or not.

I rode up to her on my mount and clicked on the bubble that said "jaina blah blah blah.. about the gryphon" when I did, I received the message "you are still mounted...." and being as inpatient I clicked again... and the quest was marked complete.

This quest chain now(31/12/08) ends with the quest "Survey Alcaz Island" with the following dialogue

Survey Alcaz Island completed.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: The king was to travel here by ship, in secret. But the ship never arrived, and King Wrynn disappeared.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Your help enabled us to connect the Defias to the mastermind behind the abduction, Onyxia, who was posing as a member of the royal court.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Meanwhile, the king managed to escape his captors, and returned to Stormwind to deal with Onyxia.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: I will send word that you have discovered the link to the Defias. I was a fool to think them broken with the defeat of Edwin Van Cleef, and King Wrynn will want to make an example of all who remain.

There is no option to obtain the follow up quests "Proof of Trechery" and "Return to Jaina"

Its swarming with levels 60, and you have to face them. Dies 2 times, then i quit the quest

And so we get a little more of the story told, of what happened to the King of Stormwind. They sure are drawing this out. :-) Jaina thanks you once again, and then it just ends - just like before (The Missing Diplomat quest). Fun little romp though, and good XP.

They need to question mark the apprentice. I looked around for a bit thinking I was in the wrong spot.

The quest is bugged at the time of writing this: you will see it has the main objective duplicated. Questie will also complain that its missing data about an objective.

But you can still finish this quest. Simply fly it once, one of the duplicated objective will complete. Then simply go to Lady Jaina Proudmoore, and you should be able to turn it in, even thought the quest log says its not complete.

Descrizione

It looks like Renn's hunch about Alcaz Island was right. We need to survey that island, but it would take a whole brigade of troops to fight our way in there.

Theramore's defenses can't weather such a hit, so I've arranged with Cassa Crimsonwing, the apprentice to Theramore's gryphon master, to allow you to use one of her beasts to survey Alcaz from the air.

Alcaz Island holds the key to the mystery of the Defias' involvement in this kidnapping.
