He spawned for me around northwest Camp Boff, I was doing a quest and boom! He was just there. I took a screenshot of him but I can't seem to upload it. Also, i think someone should just make a gallery just for beast screenshots, that would help me SO much. :D

Barnabus is one of the 14 rare spawn wolves. ~~He has no special attacks, therefore only hitting regular melee-attacks with his furry paws - his damage is equal to the nearby wolves~~. The previous sentence is no longer correct; Barnabus has adopted 2 special attacks, Enrage and Snarl, and all rare spawns are now considerably stronger than regular NPCs as of Cataclysm. Enrage increases Barnabus' attack speed and damage for 5 seconds, Snarl deals a "normal damage plus a bonus on the next attack".

The other 13 rare wolves are:

Deathmaw - spawns in Burning Steppes
Death Howl - spawns in Felwood
Snarler - spawns in Feralas
Barnabus - spawns in Badlands
Lupos - spawns in Duskwood
Mist Howler - spawns in Ashenvale
Gorefang - spawns in Silverpine Forest
Timber - spawns in Dun Morogh
Grovepaw - spawns in Felwood
Lamepaw the Whimperer - spawns in Elwynn Forest
Nighthowl - spawns in Tirisfal Glades

I'm having a tough time finding this guy. I saw the that rare elite robot (idk his name) and i killed him and soon after zaricotl spawned and when i killed him that giant spawned. So I believe that the rare spawns are tied together somehow. I just cant find Barnabus :( lol

So far I've been looking for barnabus for 5 days now. I think I've killed every rare in the area quiet a few times and still no barnabus. Blah. I'm tired of the Storm Peaks wolves. I want something cool looking.. Still waiting..

I found this rare wolf when doing quests with my alt mage in Badlands. He was patroling between Agmond's End and Camp Boff at the southern part of the zone among other common wolves. He was near Theldurin the Lost when i tracked it.

He dropped Huntsman's Cape of Defense for me.

I remember camping this wolf for about four days, logging in and out constantly. Then finally taming him and I ended up getting chewed on by Zaricotl right after. It was back in pre BC though and he was worth it because at the time he was the only animal avaible with bite lvl 6 that wasn't lvl 40+. In other words, he used to be a lvl 38 spawn that you could tame and learn bite 6 from before the typical level 40 requirement at the time.

I have only searched one day and heard that early morning is best for spawning, i must say i agree, the previous night i searched in between instances and quests(spent a good 6 hrs hunting about), and didnt even find a corpse, tho i did find every other rare thats lurks about. I hope this helps you guys. Good luck and grats when you get him =)

Just got him! Took me two days, but I finally found him right around 56,57... about 1:15pm server time on Eredar. He looks so Awesome! I'd seen quite a few rares running around the past two days, but Barnabus was nowhere to be found until now, so I'm not so sure about the timers being linked as a few people said.

Just grabbed him at 10:04 server time on Hellscream EU just chilling out near the troggs/quest giving dorf in the bottom corner I just about ahd a heart attack. Been chasing him since Friday evening and seen Zari at least 8 times, the Long Distance Repair Bot, the orange mountain giant, a stone golem... I was starting to wonder!

Totally worth it he's utterly gorgeous. I've named him after himself for the run around he's given me :)

I decided to go the long way back to fuselight, and after killing a random mob the followed me, I move the screen to see...Barnabus, so I quickly put away my pet and tame him. Amazing pet, next to the seagull and Shale Spiders! Found him around 39.4, 60.6. For all hunters that quest in badlands, always take the longer more complected way, cause you never know what might be waiting for you ;D

Camped for about 15 minutes before going into instance, after finishing, spawned and hit my macro and found him below me. Tamed easily. Goes well with my Gronnstalker transmogrification set.

I just got my mount for this character actually and was looking for a pet that matched my mount. I thought I would have to settle for some lame white coyote thing in the Badlands when I happened upon this guy. He matches my mount almost perfectly. :)

After 5 days of looking for him, I just tamed Barnabus (lvl 38) as a pet. Found him in North Camp Boff just leaving the Valley of Fangs. He has 1521 hit points and armor of 2155.

He kept his very beautiful red color for me too!

When I was searching for BT I was also searching for him, I found BT first so I kept BT. I am not overly impressed with BT, He can't take a hit to save his life and I spend a lot of time trying to heal him. I used to use Lupos until they nerfed him and really liked wolves. I was hoping to catch barnibus now. Does anyone know his respawn time, I saw him once and I was in a party with a mage who happened to kill him as I was typing that i was going to catch him...
Only sad part is now I am 43... it will take a bit to level him at 38...

This red wolf is pretty rare...I took days to catch him. I think he spawns about once every 24 hours and he doesnt move around much in an area which is not too far away on the open plain from where the Dragonscale Horde level trainer is. Its also not too far away from where you go to find the black dragonkin and so its a fairly busy trafficed area...and I guess he gets knocked off pretty quickly.
Best time I reckon is early in the morning.
He looks dead cool but is absolutely average in stats and dps...just good looks thats all

he IS a rare pet his rare spawn time is average and he spawns every 24 hours
i caught him he is really kool (he is all red and very large after you tame him and he shrinks he is the size of a normal wolf (he looks like a worg)

Okay, now I am pretty posative that this post will make Barnabus a nice target for those 39 twink hunters out there(me). Anyways.. How could there be nothing special about this wolf, as he is the only pet at his level with Bite Rank 6. Now for those major Tweakers / Twinkers out there(me) this is a really good pet for the skill. I don't use him, myself, for PvP but I do use the Bite Rank 6 on my cat.

The way i found him was by gettin on ahigh mountain and usin Eagle Eye (i think thats wat its cald) and just casting it on random places in the wolf feilds after a while of that i found him

I was looking for him one night after seeing him on petopia.. i loved the look of him, i was 40 and didnt want to wait till i reached 51 for a wolf with his looks. I didnt fins him that night... the day after i was thinking it was a bad idea to even bother seeming he spwns every 5 days. i looked once, had another look at this page to check his spwn places, logged back on, i thought i should take one last look for luck got attacked by 2 wolves when i spotted him! left my pet to deal with the wolves and abandoned the pet, feign death..and walla! tamed him! :)

GL if you are trying to get him, he is a good pet, found him near middle of badlands.

yeah he's nice, i just got an ember worg (same skin) and a mount to match him, made a macro says "saddle up, timber!" kinda funny but yeah so far i'm liking this kind of pet i'm sure barney's a little better than mine but good luck to all of you after barney!

Days.....thats how long i road around the three spawn areas. Sunday at 6:30 pm server time he finally spawned. I could't believe it. And of course wouldn't you know I had my RFK boar out, instead of my junk pet. I had to ride back to the stable master. It was the longest ride of my life. I just knew someone was going to kill him before I got back. Anyways I got him. He matches my mount I just got. I know there is nothing special, and you can get him at lvl 51, but still, I was determined. Good luck!

Umm, pets were all " normalized" a loooong time ago.They all have the same base speed etc.

Personally I'm going to look for Barny tonight so I can teach my Tallstrider Dash 6.

I searched for Barnabus for two days so i could learn bite rank 6 at lvl 38 and finally found him where everyone said he'd be, I noticed that they had added a silver dragon to identify him as rare but after i tamed him I found that he only knows bite rank 5. Is this something new for 2.2? I'm on wildhammer has anyone noticed anything on the other realms? Thanks again, Blizzard :(

i found his today at 40,70 and tamed him...
i reset him so i lost bite rank 5 b4 i got to learn it.. but ill go back out to badlands and tame a small wolf for it then teach it to barn... so its all good..
one thing i have noticed is barn has way more hp and armor then my cat ... my barn has no upgrades yet while my cat has rank 6 armor and hp..
so this is a rock'en pet ... very good for any 38+ hunter even better when u roll BM :P

Ive searched for Barnabus now for four days, and the closest Ive come to taming him is finding his dead body. Still, I really like the look of him, so ill probably keep trying. Anyone who sees him on the Vashj server, drop a line to Duratoran...ill make it worth your while. Peace

I came across him, and not willing to give up my ghost cat, I took him down, and he dropped Sentinel Gloves of Defense. not too shabby, but if push comes to shove and Tarion cant keep aggro still, I will give up my rare White Wolf for Barny ^-^

I was just walking around looking for some mobs to kill when i found him i tried taming him when about four wolves were already chasing me i caught him with 2% hp then i died and later a Flurry axe dropped so i was pretty happy that day =D

Yes he is still in the game. I saw him on Azjol-Nerub, September 7/06 at about 1:30 server time. Location was 65,70 near Agmond's End. I do not know his time for respawn.

i whant to tame him and lupos i got old cliff jumper and 2 wolfs that looked like mounts would be awsome. not to metnion ive not seen any horde will cliff jumper and only 1 barnabus. that would be 1 black wolf mount, 1 brown 1 and then 1 artic.

From what I've read on the WoW offical forums he has an attack speed of 2.0... I'm going to try and tame him tonight and see if that is true.

I had been grinding in Badlands for a few days and also looking for him. I found him yesterday around 5:30 am near the middle of the map. As soon as i dismounted, Zaricotl came by and chewed me up. So after i rezzed , i ran back to tame him. I felt bad though because i had to abandon Timber which i have had since lvl 10. too bad because Timber was a tough as nails wolf. Anyways, i tamed Barnabus, and named him Whisky. it wouldnt let me spell whiskey, dunno why. After taming him I was looking forward to having his bite 6, however he didnt have it. Whats up with that? Does he have to get to best friend status before i will see him with bite 6? kinda sucks if he doesnt have bite 6, oh well , at least i will be one of the only peeps around with this cool looking wolf.

An hour after I tamed him I lost bite rank 6 on him... when I trained skills to him (for example) furious howl rank 2 it did not show up in my pet bar. I logged out and back in finding he still had no skills. I tried the pet trainer as well to unlearn and relearn his skills, nothing happened his bar is still blank. Has anyone else experienced this?

Anybody know the timer on this guy? Is it really only every 5 days, because I heard that about BT, but his is every few hours.

i tamed him a while ago when i was level 44, he is now level 43 and i will post a screenshot right away, coolest looking animal in the game, i also have a 1.2 attack speed slavering worg, and their DPS is the exact same when they are the same level

I got him. Yes, he has an attack speed 2.0, and I waited 5 days for this guy. I was about to sign off, took a run around his spawn areas with my mount, and boom, there he was. I got him on the SW part of Agmond's end. Nothing special about him other than his color. Good luck, you guys-he really is a pain in the butt.

I'm on the BC beta, and have currently all time of the world to observe the spawn times of rare mobs on the low-pop beta servers.

"Barnabus" (level 38) still spawns in the Badlands around the Mirage Flats/Agmond's End area, and his spawn rate is indeed just once every 5 days. He's missing the silver outline for rare mobs around his portrait (at least in the BC beta), but you'll notice him immediately as he is the only orange-brown wolf/worg among the packs of light-grey coyotes there. His distinct color ist probably the reason why he gets killed so quickly.
Your next opportunity to get a similarly colored wolf/worg will be the "Ember Worg" (level 51-52) in the Burning Steppes.

"Barnabus" come with Bite 6 when tamed, and he can learn Cower, Dash, Furious Howl, and Growl. He has no exceptional attributes except for his very nice color (orange-brown with green eyes) which, by the way, fit a Blood Elf huntress perfectly :)

Wolves and worgs are my personal favorites among the hunter pets, even if they don't have the Prowl skill and DPS rate of cats. They're just "medium" in any respect (HP, armor, DPS), but the new BC Beastmaster ultimate talents (41+ points in that tree) now make them great, above-average companions for almost any situation.

Tamed today. My hunter was level 39, Barnabus was 38. He spawned knowing Bite, rank 6. I fought local mobs until I learned it too. Then I logged out to an alt. When I came back to the hunter, neither the pet nor my character knew the spell. I reported it as a bug because actinerf have castrated the ticket system.
