October 25th, 2016 - Return to Karazhan released
Patch 7.1 is here! The Return to Karazhan patch marks the first major content patch of Legion. Highlights include:
Revamped Dungeon - Return to Karazhan
: Since Medivh's betrayal of Azeroth, the abandoned tower of Karazhan became a place of interest for the Legion. The Legion launched a full force attack to the tower, to attempt to open a new front in their war against Azeroth.
New raid - Trial of Valor
: Odyn has been trapped in the Halls of Valor since Loken's betrayal, while Helya claims the souls of his valarjar champions. Great heroes have since arrived in Stormheim, and hoping they have the determination to end Helya's reign, Odyn summons those champions to the Halls of Valor for a final test. This raid serves as the end of the storyline in Stormheim.
New Suramar Campaign - Insurrection
: Your adventures in Suramar continue as both factions prepare to launch a full scale assault to the Nighthold, Elisande's seat of power in the heart of the city of Suramar.

Recruit-a-Friend received an overhaul on the PTR. You're now able to recruit friends ingame, by clicking on the handshake icon in your Friends List, and work from there.
Another change on the RAF system was the addition of several pets as possible rewards. Those pets, such as the
Maiale d'Oro
and the
Tigre Zipao
were previously only available as extremely limited giveaways in Asia (Golden Pig was available during the 2008 New Year event on Chinese servers, and the Zipao Tiger was a Taiwanese server promotion pet).
The benefits from recruiting a friend, such as friend summoning and the massive experience boost are unchanged.

We learn during the Cataclysm beta that, unlike past villains, Deathwing would actually fly from zone to zone and incinerate everything in it's path, including NPCs and players! This was a really fun way to demonstrate Deathwing's power. Getting killed by Deathwing would award you the achievement
Brasato dalle fiamme
.
This lasted till the release of
Anima del Drago
, with Deathwing becoming too busy with heroes taking their last stand against him.
If you missed this epic mini-event, don't worry! You can still get the achievement, by dying to any of his 2 encounters in Dragon Soul: Spine of Deathwing and Madness of Deathwing.

The release date (well, month) of Burning Crusade is announced! Former CM Eyonix (who has a NPC named after him in Netherstorm:
Eyonix
) issued a press release announcing that the expansion would be slightly delayed to January of 2007, to allow extra time for developers and beta testers alike to finish polishing the game and issue the expansion is at it's highest quality possible.
This deadline was met and The Burning Crusade was released on January 16th, 2007 on the Americas and Europe.

Blizzard has released more information on it's upcoming first expansion, the Burning Crusade, and patch 1.9 of Vanilla.
Meet the Qiraji:
In the upcoming patch 1.9, you will need to deal with bugs. LOTS of bugs. Patch 1.9, The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj, released a massive event that eventually resulted in opening the Scarab Wall in southern Silithus and with it, the released of two new instances:
Rovine di Ahn'qiraj
, a 20-man raid (nowadays a 10-man) and
Ahn'qiraj
, a 40-man raid.
Expansion Plot:
Picking it up from Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, we finally learn the fates of many iconic heroes. Burning Crusade will focus on Illidan Stormrage and his stronghold in the ravaged continent of Outland.
Illidan's storyline is sort of retconned during Legion. We learn that he hasn't been dealt with during the Demon Hunter starting area, and the
Cuore della Luce
quest chain.
Two New Races:
Blood Elves and Draenei make their debut in the Burning Crusade.
Caverns of Times is now open:
The mysterious Caverns of Time, home to the Bronze Dragonflight, are finally open to the public, revealing portals to different timezones such as during Thrall's escape from Durnholde Keep (
Passato di Colletorto
), the opening of the Dark Portal (
Palude Nera
), the Battle for Mount Hyjal (
Sommità di Hyjal
), and the final battle for Hellfire Peninsula, before Draenor exploded (battleground that was never released).

During the original Karazhan, two friends used to get lost all the time. Once, they got lost because they were following each other and it took them 20 minutes to get all the way to Shade of Aran's room.
Do you have any Karazhan stories? Were you there during the War Effort event? Or did you get roasted by Deathwing?
See you next week!
