Hey, Wowhead! Hearthstone is releasing the new Rumble Run mode which is a single-player mode that you can play absolutely free! If you are a fan of deck building games and roguelikes, then this might appeal to you. This is a great way to try out some Hearthstone without investing any money into the game. You can also get quite a bit of replay value out of it. Each time you load up a new round of Rumble Run, you will get to choose a different shrine and face off against bosses that will utilize different strategies to take you down!
For a detailed look at this new mode, check out our Rumble Run Guide: Shrines, Passives, Teammates, Tips & Tricks!
Shrines
When you start the game, you will get to choose from three different Shrines. This choice will determine the class/team you represent for that round. The cards you build your deck with will also be influenced by your choice of team.
Each class/team has three possible Shrines. Here are some examples of some of the Shrines you’ll get to choose from:
Druid Shrines
Druid gets three different deck building synergies. One works based off your attack power, one refreshes your Mana Crystals when you gain armor, and the final one will work well with smaller low-cost minions by giving each one +1/+1 when it hits the board.
Hunter Shrines
Per usual with Hunter, you get a bit of Beast synergy. The first Shrine will add Rush, Taunt, or Poisonous to your summoned Beast. The second one adds the new keyword “Overkill” to your minions, and will reduce your hand cost if you can trigger it. The final Shrine works with Hunter’s more recent Spell based strategies, and will summon a random Hunter secret into the battlefield when you cast a spell!
Shrines start on your board at the beginning of the game. They can be destroyed, but they will lie dormant for three turns. Once those turns are up, you will have access to it again and the bonuses it gives you.
Upgrading Your Deck
When you progress through the run, you will get to add some powerful unique cards to your deck. These will be in the form of Passives and Teammates.
Passives
With Passives, you will get cards that give your Shrines a buff at the beginning of each game. These are extremely powerful, and you will want to choose one that synergizes with the Shrine you chose.
Here’s an example of one of the Passives:
Pact with the Loa will work well with a lower health Shrine that will likely be destroyed more often. This gives you access to it again quicker, and the Shrines are going to be extremely important in your path to victory.
Teammates
The teammates you’ll get a chance to choose will correspond with the class you chose at the beginning. These are going to be pretty powerful, so choosing the one that works best with your deck will be crucial to your success.
Lobstrok Tastetester will be an option for the Rogue class. If you have it on the board, once you cast a spell you will draw a spell from your deck and it will cost 2 less! This is great if you are working a deck with a lot of spell synergy.
Troll Champions
You will need to takedown 8 different Troll Champions to complete the Rumble Run. The order you face them in will be random, and the Shrine they use can vary in each match. If you want to know more about these bosses, check out all of our guides!
