New datamining reveals that the Dragon Aspects are getting a facelift on the Dragonflight Patch 10.2 PTR - story spoilers inside!
Warning: Speculation and Spoilers Ahead
Last week we discussed
Grandi Draghi
, which revealed part of the upcoming story in Patch 10.2, wherein
six dragons received the blessing of the new world tree
, and a portion of its power. We now have a little more detail as to what that might entail, as new models for each dragon now feature distinctive glowing eyes.
The five principle aspects: Alexstrasza, Kalecgos, Nozdormu, Ebyssian, and Merithra.
Veteran players may remember the dragon aspects featured glowing eyes in the game's early expansions, losing them during the Cataclysm finale as they sacrificed their titan-imbued power and immortality to defeat Deathwing the Destroyer. While the aspects failed to regain their powers by
restoring the Oathstones
, the blessing of Amirdrassil would appear to restore their lost aspectral power - fulfilling Alexstrasza's proclamation that they would once again be Azeroth's protectors and signaling
the new age of dragons
.
Interestingly, Vyranoth's eyes already glowed - presumably as a reflection of her primalist powers, which were never lost in battle with Deathwing. It's unclear exactly what she gains or what role she will take on with the blessing of the World Tree, though with Fyrakk betrayed and
Iridikron absconding into the void with the essence of Galakrond
, we imagine her story is just beginning.
