With Unity becoming available this week, we want to highlight the most efficient ways you can craft your 2nd legendary and general advice on how the obtain the most from this new addition.
How to Unlock Double Legendaries?
To unlock double legendaries, you must complete the new Zereth Mortis campaign chapter available this week. Completing chapter 7 will reward you with your class'
Belt of Unity
. Alternatively, players that have reached
Revered
with
Illuminati
will unlock
Ricordo dell'Unità
, allowing them to craft an item with Unity on any slot.
For players using the Belt of Unity, there aren't any choices, as the item is locked to the belt slot and not upgradable beyond its baseline 265 ilvl. For those who are Revered, there are a lot of things to consider in order to get the most out of your newest legendary.
Which Slot to Craft Unity?
Due to its flexibility, there are many options that you can craft your Unity on. Naturally, you will aim for the largest gain when crafting this new legendary, so it is important to keep a few guidelines in mind when crafting it.
There are three things to consider:
Stat Budget
Which slot gains you the most stats for having a higher item level piece of gear in it?
Tier Slots
You only need 4 out of 5 pieces to complete the tier set, bonuses, but which of those 4 do you actually have access to, and will you upgrade them to Heroic or Mythic difficulty?
Sockets
Some legendaries come with an automatic socket, granting you even more stats, and may be even better than a higher budgeted piece, specially early on in the season, when sockets are hard to come by.
Stat Budget
With those in mind, the usual best slots to craft Unity on will be guided by stat budget. The stat budget priority, as follows:
Helm*, Chest*, Leggings*
Shoulders*, Hands*, Waist, Feet
Wrists, Necklace, Rings, Back
Note that the pieces higher in that list, marked with *, are also tier slots, meaning four out of the five of them will be filled with tier pieces eventually.
Tier Drops
From the considerations, this brings the best slot to craft Unity to a choice between the your free tier slot, Waist, and Feet. If you are able to choose,
Helm
is a good choice, having a high budget and a guaranteed socket on them. However, there are a couple of issues with this. The first come from the current rarity of tier pieces, meaning most players don't have the option to pick and choose from the slots and are using whatever is currently available to them instead. The second issue is that many spec run their non-Unity legendary in a tier slot as well, meaning they can't run two legendaries in those slots, as only one of those is available.
With that, other good slots for your Unity legendary are
Waist or Feet
, as they don't conflict with Tier slots, meaning one of them will always be free or even
Ring
, as they provide automatic sockets. Ultimately, if you are looking to truly min-max Unity, you will always have it crafted on the slot that you have your worst itemized piece on, since legendaries have customizable stats, maximizing your item level.
Auto-Sockets
Another consideration is the presence of sockets. Legendary pieces when crafted on socketable slots will always have sockets, meaning they receive those extra stats always, without requiring any RNG luck or spending Vault coins on
Rete Infusa di Effimero
, something very valuable specially at the start of the season.
Maximizing Unity
However, there's a price, as you'd need to buy the legendary materials for every slot, which can set you back a couple million gold, depending on your server's economy. This option is not really feasible to most players, so most will opt to craft Unity in a slot that they are less likely to replace later on, giving longevity to the legendary.
For that, you can follow the priority list above, keeping in mind the tier and non-Unity legendary restrictions mentioned. Keep in mind that the drop from each budget tier isn't really major, so you aren't losing on much by not having your Unity on the best possible slot. The difference in budget is way smaller than it looks, since it's not the difference between stats on Helm at 291 or stats on Wrist at 291, it's the difference between stats on Helm at 278 (or 285) and 291 versus the difference between stats on Wrist at 278/285 and 291, which is way smaller.
Multispec Conflicts
A final consideration is for players intending to play multiple specs. Keep in mind that your different specs might have legendary conflicts with Unity. For instance, you might craft Unity on your waist slot, but one of the specs you're playing has a non-Unity legendary in their waist slot as well. For those, you can either craft Unity in a different slot, or have two versions of it, one for each spec.
