So I went to the village, seeing the above poster's response I was rather fearful of what was to come. I killed a With Doctor, one dropped. Killed 2 more, both dropped. Killed a HEADHUNTER, none, killed a Witch Doctor, one dropped. Witch Doctor's are classified as 'Shamans' and it's a 'Totem' Stick, therefore I believe only Witch Doctors drop them or have a much much higher drop rate then the others.

All can drop for me head hunters got highest drop rate. They were about 40% and the others got like 30% for me.

I found those fairly easy. A tip is to do the quest "Worth Its Weight In Gold" (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/quest=691) at the same time you're farming for the totems, since the mobs for the quest drops them.

When you've got 10 of them, the stone of outer binding is found at 52,51.

The stone is sorrounded by level 38 - 39 Thundering exile - Lightning elementals - but i had no problems with them as a level 37 mage. You're able to pull them one by one. The Thundering exile's drops thundering charms which are used in the warrior quest for the whirlwind weapons. This means they're easily sold at new made realms.

After you've used the 10 totems at the stone there'll be a wand, sort of electric, at the top of the stone. Simply click it and you'll grab 'Bolt Charged Bramble', which is needed in the mage quest "Items of power" - https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/quest=1948

This quest took me all of five minutes to do. collected the sticks, dropped on every kill, headhunters, axe throwers and the witch doctors

I can't believe that the drop rate would be as high as 30-40%. I spent 1 hour doing this quest as a lvl 38 mage, I had 0 downtime and grinded all the time.
As Telatheus said, it has probably been nerfed.

I just completed it in about 15 minutes. Killed only Witch Doctors and saw a drop rate of about 60%.

What you should do, is enter the cave by their village, mop up as many as you can, and aoe them down all at once.
This way you get the totems alot faster than going around outside looking for them

I can only recommend NOT going into the cave to AoE the mobs there, as they have silence and a rooting spell, which makes this place a certain deathtrap for any late-thirties mage who tries to AoE his way to faster questdrops.

Very high drop rate for this item on all witherbark type trolls ... I got 10 in literally 5 or 6 minutes with level 38 frost mage! No AoE involved

Be careful when you use these. Another mage can loot your Bolt Charged Bramble, when you make it.

Have they removed this from game or something? I've nuked about 100 of these trolls not even ONE drop?
Strange, because when I was here with my Hunter last I got millions! Now my Mage needs it and I cannot get one :(

When you have the quests for the sticks, they actually drop about 25% of the time. No need to worry about long grinding :)

I'm just killing the Witherbark trolls south of Hammerfall. Feels like the droprate is only 5-10% though, I've been sitting here a while, only have 3 sticks.

Scratch that, the droprate is decent (estimate 30%) I was just really unlucky for a while :D

wow been killing these guys for about an hour have 7 of them.....averaging about a 5% drop rate......

This is a Mage quest only. The reason the drop rate is so low is because these items will Only drop if you are on the quest.

is it actually possible to do this quest at lvl 30? because all my spells are resisted :'(

All you have to do is get a sort of high lvl to come with you, set you as Master Looter, and then watch them drop like flies. ^^

If you're on the quest, these drop approx 1 in 3 mobs. They seem to drop a lot less on the lower mobs outside and a lot more on the higher level mobs inside. Just be careful inside the cave because the shadow hunters have a silence spell while is really nasty if you get adds.
