While in possession of this item, you're able to scout for the Darkmoon Faire artifacts:

Fallen Adventurer's Journal - Turns in for 5 tickets, obtained from player corpses in battlegrounds.
Banner of the Fallen - Turns in for 5 tickets, obtained from player corpses in battlegrounds.
Captured Insignia - Turns in for 5 tickets, obtained from player corpses in battlegrounds.
Imbued Crystal - Turns in for 10 tickets, obtained from dungeon bosses.
Monstrous Egg - Turns in for 10 tickets, obtained from dungeon bosses.
Mysterious Grimoire - Turns in for 10 tickets, obtained from dungeon bosses.
Ornate Weapon - Turns in for 10 tickets, obtained from dungeon bosses.
A Treatise on Strategy - Turns in for 15 tickets, obtained from heroic dungeon bosses.
Soothsayer's Runes - Turns in for 10 tickets, obtained from raid bosses.

All related to the achievement Darkmoon Despoiler, you get a total of 80 tickets from these turn-ins only, and they can be done once every faire.

This can be obtained from Selina Dourman, who stands on the left-side of the entrance to the Darkmoon Faire.
Just ask her about the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide, and she'll give you a replacement.

This is only necessary for people who have already completed the quest The Darkmoon Faire before Darkmoon Island was released, or for those who have misplaced their manuals.

I also couldn't get the guide on some of my characters. Eventually I realized that the chars who couldn't get the guide were the same ones who had a Free Ticket Voucher gathering dust in the bank because they'd never turned in that intro quest way back when. (You know how it is with alts.)

I grabbed the Voucher, turned in the quest, and the reward was five tickets plus the Adventurer's Guide. Problem solved.

I don't have any old tickets in the bank, and I don't have any quests available from the npcs who transport you there either :S I'm just simply not getting the guide, i've opened a ticket.

There was an older version of the quest so if it was completed you can't do it again for the voucher. Just port to the island and talk to the Undead when you first walk in on the left and she'll give you a guide book.

Just go visit one of the DMF Greeters by the portals in Elwynn or Mulgore. They have an option to ask for another guide, so you can get one from them.

We now have confirmation from Blizzard, that the Adventurer's Guide will allow us to collect artifacts between Faires:

Just to clarify one point, the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG’s happen all the time, even if the faire isn’t in town. Think of it sort of like the Darkmoon Card redemptions. You’re out playing all month, while you’re doing stuff you’re getting chances at the items, then when the faire is in town you turn it all in. (It’s also worth pointing out that the turn-in items aren’t soulbound, so just like the cards I’d expect some people to farm them just to put them up on the AH.)

I have to agree with Bashiok. Come the next Faire, the people who care about Tickets will have all necessary artifacts in store and immediately cache in 80 Prize Tickets.

This item can also be obtained from the Darkmoon Faire Greeter located in Goldshire. The Horde version is in Mulgore. Hope this helps.

What is an "appropriately challenging dungeon?" I ask because I got a darkmoon card(are the cards even a part of this?) while running Heroic Ramparts for rep at level 85, but i've not seen anything while running Random Hour of Twilight Heroics.

It has been confirmed that having this even while you are not in Darkmoon Faire week , it will still grant you drops from bosses and battleground loots :) hope it help and have fun farming :)

I'm in the same boat with Ramsden. When I put in a ticket, I only got a note in the mail telling me that the Blizz team doesn't help with quests so, basically "Tough stuff! Go read Wowhead and leave us alone."

The Quest giver next to the flight path tower in Thunderbluff only teleported me. She never gave me the Quest to go to DMF and receive the book and free tickets. I've tried to speak to all the NPC listed but none of them gave me the option to get a replacement book because I never had one. I do not have the item in my bags or bank. I do not have an old Free Ticket Voucher nor anything else that says "Darkmoon", "Ticket", "Voucher", or "Guide".

Darkmoon Faire ends tomorrow and I can't get the stinking book. I am not a happy camper.

I got it on my rogue and my hunter, but for some stupid reason I couldn't get it on my priest. I tripled checked my bank and bags and found no Guide. =(

Seems like darkmoon quest items now only drops from an appropriately-challenging dungeons. I've kill at least 40 bosses in low-level dungeons(who drops them), with my 85 - and didn't got anything. Can anyone confirm?

If carrying both the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide and the Lovely Charm Collector's Kit, you will only get a Grisly Trophy and not a Lovely Charm with a qualifying kill. After you collect all 250 Grisly Trophies, however, Lovely Charms will automatically start to drop even with either the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide still in your inventory or Test Your Strength quest not turned in.

Edit: Turns out this is only true with certain mobs. Some npcs will drop a Lovely Charm. You definitely can't get both a Charm and a Trophy from the same killing blow, but you can collect both on the run depending on what you kill.

Edit 2: Hotfix on 02-08-12 (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/4023884): "Players now have the chance to receive both the Lovely Charm and Grisly Trophy from a single kill."

Players are now able to receive Lovely Charms while on the quest "", when the player's inventory has both the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide and Lovely Charm Collector's Kit.
Players now have the chance to receive both the Lovely Charm and Grisly Trophy from a single kill.

I've currently got a ticket in for this weirdness:

I had the old flyer in my bags. Deleted it, stupidly.

Now, I can't get the journal. It's not in my bags, and not in my bank. The npc's, however, talk to me like it IS on my person.

And now for the weirdest part: much to my surprise, I'm still collecting Grisly Trophies. Somehow, the game (npc's and grisly trophy hander outer alike) perceive the journal to be in my bag...even though it is clearly not there.

Do you need this in your bag to be able to loot/ roll on the darkmoon dungeon and bg quest items?

You must have this item in your bag to loot the PVP Darkmoon Drops, from the enemies insignia.
One party member must have this item in their bag for a PVE Darkmoon to drop from the last boss of many instances.

I highly recomend carrying this item on you at all times, especially trying to capture peoples Insignia in PVP, whether you have completed these quests or not this items can sell at a good price on Auction House.
