These are looted automatically (one at a time) to your character (without having to click on corpses) upon delivering a killing blow to or death of a mob/enemy player which grants experience or honour (non-grey) for which you have the tag, so long as you have Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide on your character (and not banked).

I suggest farming mobs in low level 80-85 zones at level 85, such as Vashj'ir where mobs are plentiful and die quickly, while having used Potion of Treasure Finding if you plan to loot. I personally prefer to farm Trophies at Deathspeaker's Watch, just off of the Argent Tournament Grounds in northern Icecrown, for gold, cloth, and miscellaneous other items.

Updated for MoP: The seemingly most effective way to farm these is in Skiggit's Cave (23.24, 30.56) in Valley of the Four Winds. His adds (Light Watchers) spawn almost instantly and in high numbers. Be advised, however, that they drop no loot upon being killed.

Verlok's Stand in Deepholm seems to be a good place to mob it up for this quest. Up at the top area though, as the fallen Trogs don't seem to give trophies

Best place to farm these as I could find was the packs of Converted Heroes, north for Corp'rethar in Icecrown. ~10 token per aoe spell, It's super effective!

I found really nice and easy way to farm this.
Just go with friends in Well of Eternity on last boss when you turn into demon don`t dps boss just stand near portal and aoe every mob gives one Grisly Trophy easy farming. Good luck !

Note that if you are a class with any summon, you do not have to get the killing blow, only tag the mob as your normally would to get xp and loot. Cases of this include, but are not limited to:

Death Knight ghoul
Druid treant
Hunter pet
Mage water elemental
Priest shadowfiend
Warlock minion

The ears as a trophy was not created by blizzard or from diablo 2. Ears for trophies has been around for hundreds of years. Even noses were trophies from combat on the battle field or even back ally brawls.

If you don't feel like leaving DMF, you can get these by killing Darkmoon Wolves found around the island. They are level 85 but should not be hard to kill. As an undergeared squishy (aka clothie) just turned 80 mage, these wolves took 2 zaps of Arcane Blast and went bye-bye.

This isn't the best source of trophies though, as I have only come across a handful of wolves here, but again is convenient for zapping every so often if you don't wanna leave the island.

Killing these guys works out great when circling the island fishing for Sealed Crates, as the wolves only seem to be on a small patch of land on the Western part of the island. Fish, go inland and kill a few, then go back out and fish some more, circle the island, repeat. Since I'm keen on fishing the Crates and not really wanting to leave the island cuz of that, this helps me get the quest done at the same time.

An excellent place to farm these as a level 85 Hunter is in Utgard Pinnacle's boss Skadi the Ruthless. Start by dismissing your pet. Then what I do is aggro the boss so he flies off and sends minions down the hallway. Multishot or do whatever to kill them all as a group. There are about 10 at the initial pull and its 100% drop rate. Each 2 that he sends down the hallway after that is also 100% so you can either keep farming the trash and just not do the boss normally or, do what I do and feign death after aggroing another add or 2. If done when these adds are aggroed the whole fight resets and you can rinse and repeat as you please till you get to 250.
There is a slight timer on the boss resetting and aggroing/flying away but its not that long and worth the wait in my opinion. :)

The best place I've found for doing this is actually near the Fleshwerks in Icecrown. (Edit: 37, 71 are the basic coords) There's an area with a bunch of skeletons roaming around that award trophies. Here's the best part: 1) They only have 3.7k health and 2) At least 4 skeletons will be spawned at all times; if you reduce the number below 4, another will spawn instantly to take its place.

I wouldn't be surprised if this gets hotfixed at some point.

PS: For those who might be wondering about the oracles/frenzyheart (the ones with low health that are part of the killing dailies) they don't count.

Edit: Updated with coords. Not that it matters at this point, as this has been rated too far down for most people to see. Oh well, those who do make it down this far will have much less competition, because everyone else will be derping it up on converted heroes.

Edit2: A guildmate of mine couldn't find this area despite detailed directions. Turns out it's affected by phasing, so if you've completed certain quests in Icecrown, they may no longer appear for you. Tough luck.

As a hunter, with the proper two trinkets from a lower level frogish looking faction who live in a basin, I was able to farm the 250 with the Unconverted Heros and using the multi-shot without running out of Focus in 30 minutes.

Best place i found was Hyal, directly after arriving. Kill the Stone elementals, respawn is near instant and they dont have much live. Only usefull, if you dont want to loot. Even with 6 others there are enough so no one has to wait.

You can even help others , if you finished the quest / dont have it. Open group and just both kill. The one with the quest will get the trophy from each kill! Helpfull if your partner is lower level or not that fast in killing (helped my GF that way. 20min done in Hyal)

Oh just found another great place. Broken Front - Icecrown.

You only get 5 or so per pull but the mobs go down easilly and respawn as fast as you can kill them.

No need to loot, just round up 10 or so and AOE. Easy.

If you're a skinner, you can farm Darkwood Luker and Darkwood Broomother for Savage Leather at the same time, making a nice profit. Most classes will be able to gather and AoE them down easily, and you'll gain enough leather for an easy ~1-2k gold.

56, 80 in Icecrown is quite nice to farm the Grisly Trophy these as there is quite a lot of mobs bunched up plus there is a guy called Rokir that summons more zombies (like army of the dead) and they are on a fairly short respawn timer.

Sindragosa's Fall (just south of the Argent Tournament Grounds) is another excellent farming spot in Icecrown. All of the mobs there award trophies, and they're close enough together with a fast enough respawn rate that you can run around throwing out DoTs on global CD without ever running out of targets.

On Hrothgar's Landing (northmost island beyond Icecrown), do a genocide of Kvaldir tribe there. The drop rate there is a guaranteed 100%; and respawn rate is high enough so that after running through the whole island once the mobs shall have already respawned after you're back to starting point.

To site admin: Just confirmed original info is correct with another toon, yet post is downrated twice. Observed something is very wrong with the recent change in comment system; take Sea Pony for example, comments are globally downrated to -5 or -10 for 50% of the comments, some even to -40 or below. When this trend continues I believe the community around wowhead would be wiped out and only troll / fanboys remain.

As an 85 mage, I found Sethria's Roost a nice place to farm these while on "The Protectors of Hyjal" quest.

I made a macro:

/tar Seether
/cast Scorch

and spammed it (rather, let my G15's macro key spam it for me) after pulling a Seething Pyrelord. Got around 7 trophies per Pyrelord, got from around 150 trophies to the 250 needed in 5-10 minutes. Let your friends from the quest whittle the Pyrelords health down.

Just replace Scorch with an attack that has no cooldown and can 1-3 hit the Seethers and you're golden. :)

I like Farelf's idea.

I know which two trinkets he's talking about and he is right. A hunter can nearly use multi-shot indefinitely as long as something dies each time and never run out of focus.

If you're still doing Firelands Invasion dailies, do the Shadow Wardens side and take your time on . Stand in each blue flame rune 'till a bunch of elementals collect on you, then destroy it and move on to the next one. Lots and lots of ears.

The easiest way i found is at Molten Front in the cave with the blue runes. Run around, let the mobs spawn, use the blue rune = profit! For each "kill" you get one trophy. Done in less then 10min.

Today I found a fairly good place to farm these within a few minutes. However, you do need to be a goodish player. To get to this spot you need to do the trash and first boss in Halls of Lightning on Heroic (haven't tried this on normal). From here you move towards the second boss where the Slags are (level 80 and level 81 20,000 - 21,000 hp each), they are easy to kill and there are 14 in the small area around the forge. Spawn rate is about 10 seconds if that and keep spawning untill you kill the second boss, easy way to get your 250 trophy's :)

Unlike most quests, you can get Grisly Trophies in raids. Firelands in particular is fairly good.

However I was unable to gather Grisly Trophies from Uldar using the vehicles against the dwarves. Fire from the Sky does not give Grisly Trophies either. I would have tried the Icecrown bombing run but that quest is no longer in the game. I'm curious about the other bombing runs such as in Molten Front or Hellfire Peninsula but have yet to test them.

I use Mob Difficulty Colors usually pick green mobs cuz they are quicker to kill then web search to see if there is a spot that they will respawn fast. hope it helps

- Also Npc search and use a filter for the levels specified

Is there a trick to getting these as a healer? I've been running randoms and I've had a few runs where not a single one dropped.

Never mind. Must have been a fluke when that was happening yesterday. Just ran BRD (toon in question is only 55 atm) and the room with the fast respawning mobs right before the last boss' room brought me from the 80ish I had going in to the full 250 in about 6-7 minutes.

kk, this item was build backwards. Instead of being built from a quest, it was build from the item. Now...there is no maximum amount you can collect. So they patched it, and you can only carry one stack. For 2 months now 20million people that collect 250 have to run around as listen to "I can't carry any more of those," everytime you kill something your level or higher because the items try to pile up after 251. :( omg.

Regarding the Fleshwerks skeletons: Those are tied to progression in Icecrown. They don't exist after you've completed the quest chain in the area (they're replaced by a bunch of abominations and a couple of colossi)

If carrying both the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide and the Lovely Charm Collector's Kit, you will only get a Grisly Trophy and not a Lovely Charm with a qualifying kill. After you collect all 250 Grisly Trophies, however, Lovely Charms will automatically start to drop even with either the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide still in your inventory or Test Your Strength quest not turned in.

Edit: Turns out this is only true with certain mobs. Some npcs will drop a Lovely Charm. You definitely can't get both a Charm and a Trophy from the same killing blow, but you can collect both on the run depending on what you kill.

Edit 2: Hotfix on 02-08-12 (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/4023884): "Players now have the chance to receive both the Lovely Charm and Grisly Trophy from a single kill."

With Love is in the Air and the new Darkmoon Faire going on at the same time, picking up Grisly Trophies seems to be exclusive with the Lovely Charm, no mob will drop both at the same time. Since Grisly Trophies are a guaranteed drop, it's good it checks for Lovely Charms first, otherwise you'd have to get all 250 trophies before getting a single charm.

AFK farming method for hunters (preferably with Spirit Bond):
1. go to Skadi the Ruthless in Utgarde Pinnacle normal
2. clear all the stationary mobs in the hallway
3. stand on the right, by the windows (to avoid frost breath)
4. put pet on defensive
5. go AFK

Farming isn't as fast as other methods, but you can be AFK!

Try Slag which work very VERY well for this and for Lovely Charm as well.

NOTE: Some people can't collect both. But as soon as you fill up on Grisly Trophy you start collecting Lovely Charms again.

A rough estimate is 15 Slags spawn every 15 seconds, your mileage may vary. AOE works nice. The mobs are level 79 so green at 85. Can be done in normal dungeons. (And if you are sneaky you can even avoid having to clear the first boss of Halls of Lightning to get to them.)

Personally, my favorite place to farm these is in Blackrock Depths, in the Lyceum, the room before the last two bosses. There is a whole room of non-elites that spawn in large groups, infinitely until you light the two fires with torches that drop off flamekeepers.

So today while farming the Chosen Zealots in Icecrown to get my grisly trophies i got a Super Simian Sphere drop, Im not braging about it, just using for a reference that these mobs do drop them and are general easy to farm so might be a good idea for anyone

Why downvote? The trinket is like a 1 in 10000 drop chance so its normal very desirable ... concidering the chance is so low, you want to kill as many mobs in the shortest amount of time ... these mobs are great for that

I was doing my Argent Tournament Dailies and i found the best place to farm whilst doing these, head over to Deathspeakers Watch in Icecrown, every Cultist i killed their i got 1 Grisly Trophy and it took me about 15 mins to get from 0-250, the Cultists respawn is good so once you have cleared from one end to the other and head back down they should of respawned, Good Hunting

Side note for those who are like me with no Clue about wow..
You can get these Trophy's ANYWHERE! as long as the enemy(s) are the same LvL or Or one or so LVL lower then you're Toons LVL and with "Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide" you can kill ANYWHERE not just raids, dungeons , ect.. but make sure you have the guide or you wont get the trophy's!

When farming these I like to farm other items as well. For example, I may take my tailor the the Restless Front for embersilk as well as gather items for this quest. Or I'll take my skinner to my favorite skinning spots. It seems pretty much any green mob gives a 100% drop rate on these, and since my favorite farming spots are geared toward mass slaughter, they make ideal locations to farm Grisly Trophies.

Easiest place to farm these is while you're doing the Tol Barad dailies and also the one's around Baradin Hold. You'll get credit for both. Everything you can attack around there (ghosts, townfolk, spiders, crocolisks) yields the trophies so you can kill foxes and try to kit your baradin fox kit pet at the same time and even herb, mine, skin and farm other materials around there. Nothing like knocking out multiple tasks at the same time.

You must have a "DARKMOON ADVENTURER'S GUIDE" in your backpack/inventory.

Killing mobs for 30 mins and wondering why you are not getting trophies is not fun.

I hate to tell you guys this, since there's a chance Blizz would change it... but...

The BEST place to get these are in Deepholme. The Pale Roost and westward (in the grey, non-named areas), there are Stone Bats flying around, hit one and they'll all come, you get a Trophy from each one (provided that your pet doesn't kill them all for you). There are also Swarmers there (those blade-handed thingies that run around in bunches), which you also get Trophies from.

And the greatest part is that they don't have loot, so you can just keep going around and killing without worries. At least, if you're like me and you hate leaving those sparkly, shiny loots... shiny... stuffs....

ANYWAY, I got about 170 in 10 minutes just flying around killing the bats and the swarmers. ^_^

Just tried to farm the last 3 for this weeks quest and went to to TB dailies. Dailies done and I still needed 3 grisly trophies. Seems they aren't dropping off of mobs in Tol Barad for disc priests using smite. Anyone noticed no drops from TB mobs or is this a class bug?

PS I went to Hyjal and killed stone elementals just after and 1st 3 mobs dropped them.

If you're doing the quest "Test Your Strength" in the Dark Moon Fair as lvl 85.
I would strongly recommend all Alliance that you go to Twilight Highlands of Eastern Kingdoms.
Follow the beach from end to another, then you will quickly get the 250 you need

For single target dps like a rogue, fleshworks is easily the fastest way to do this. The mobs there are programmed to always have at least 4 up, so you have instant respawn.

Just run around and 1 shot them, 10 mins of clicking 1 button while on auto run gets me 250 trophies easy.

Tested in Cata Classic, these can be easily farmed in The Fleshweks (Icecrown, Nortrend) by killing Risen Soldier that spawn hyperfast. Also, this farm can be done in a group without no drawbacks since the Grisly Trophy are generated in the bags for everyone in the party (instead of looted)

I believe if you quested in the area this zone is phased and this farm can't be done.
