It reduces fall speed.

Wouldnt it be more logical to have a passive aura that reduces the damage you take upon impact from falling?

Evonice's Landin' Pilla from Look at the Size of It! doesn't share a cooldown with this pillow. The two items are identical except for the stamina buff and their cooldowns being different. Keeping both just maximizes fall-speed reduction availability.

Also I suppose it would be more logical that a pillow would reduce fall damage rather than causing you to soar, but not only is this a more typically advantageous use, there are many illogical things in a fantasy universe. Many of the bosses we fight are more than capable to just cast a single spell of ultimate destruction, but choose otherwise.

This item does have the 30 second cooldown on equip, meaning that, unfortunately, you can't keep it in your inventory for emergencies.

For those of you looking for this item in post-4.03, especially if you're coming specifically for it at higher level, the information above is less than complete. As of 4.03, the quests in a lot of levelling zones have been (quite sensibly from an actual levelling point of view) all been locked into a small number of large "chains", often with multiple phased versions of the same NPCs giving you different steps.

To get this item, i had to start off right at the beginning of the zone, with https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/npc=47267. There's a small node of 3-4 quests around him, complete all of them - especially the ones given to you by the NPC Lunk, an ogre who pops up while you're doing other people's quests, and asks you to do them non-lethally by not actually killing your targets. Once those are done, hed to thorium point, and again do ALL the quests there (Except for the one that sends you into Blackrock Spire, and the one that sends you to the Burning Steppes. Both of these come from the same NPC, upstairs in the tower. He will have other quests in the chain, so check him regularly). These quests unlock other quests, which unlock other quests, etc. You will EVENTUALLY be sent to see Mountain-Lord Rendan (Lunk the ogre keeps showing up and asking you not to kill stuff. Oblige him, you'll need him to arrange a Conga line later on).

So, while Mountain-Lord Rendan is showing as the person giving you the quest for the pillows, this is technically true. But it's a version of him you won't have access to unless you complete a whole bunch of minor piddly stuff first. Still worth it, if you're a non-engineer who needs a slow-fall. Hope this helped.

For anyone looking for this item in 4.3.4- don't bother. It's apparently been removed. I went through the ENTIRE quest chain, even did the pillow quest, but the very soft pillow was not a reward. I just got like 70 silver. Waste of time!
