Interestingly, on top of just finding and killing, the rare starts off friendly, you then mount it (Like a vehicle)
Once you do the drake becomes hostile and you have to kill it before you become "overwhelmed" (While still riding it)
I believe he summons adds with low health that should be killed quickly, the mob itself has around 700k
Once dead he falls to the ground and you loot (You get a parachute)

Phosphorescent doesn't mean the Drake is made of phosphorous, but it is some kind of luminescence.

Phosphorescence means something is able to store light for a while and emit this light at a later time, and is used in for example glow in the dark.

So this drake is actually a "Glow in the Dark" Drake

I was surprised when this dropped from the dragon thing I was killing. Had no idea what exactly I was doing, just saw a vehicle mob with a rare spawn border and hopped on for an adventure!
Currently though, the positioning of where your character sits on this is a little messed up. Looks like you're in the sitting position, underneath the dragon. Oh noes!

He flies around the quartzite basin and temple of earth, around ToE he flies ~ stonecore level, quartzite he looks to be lower, between 40 and 50yards from what I can tell from screenies.

So, since this is TLPD #2, let's avoid the 600 comments of useless information on this mount.

If you're going to post about your successful kill, please give the location you killed it, which direction it was flying (north, east, south, west), how high it was off of the ground, if you gave it a chance to have a successful path (assuming no one else was around), and stuff like that.

THIS information is useful and will help farmers be able to track it and figure out where he is and where he patrols.

If you have questions about this mount, please avoid the "stupid"questions such as: "What is the spawn timer" or "Can you get more than one mount if you are in a party?"

Only Blizzard knows the spawn timer, and we can only guess. And, no, it's 1 mount per rare. So if you want it that bad, do it on your own.

This rare is COMPLETELY different than the TLPD. It has a unique way of getting it. More than likely, it will have 1 flight path, which is around the Earth Temple. I could be wrong though. Blizzard has a habit of putting rares in spots away from creatures similar to their own model. Aeonaxx could fly through or near the other Stone Drakes, but it's doubtful.

This guy has at least 2 patrols: 1 friendly and 1 hostile. It honestly doesn't matter where you saw him dead. Because that all depends on how much damage is going out against him. What matters is where he was before he was mounted.

Aeonaxx more than likely does not share a patrol, similar to Vyragosa and TLPD. In fact, I've been farming and patrolling all over Deepholm, and I've seen no other rare that was in a similar patrol.

There is Xariona, but she seems to patrol above the temple, on the broken pathway. I doubt they'd put a world boss dragon, with 30M HP, in the middle of a leveling area.

They may share a CD, but it's too soon to tell. It's also too soon to tell where he spawns. But the Quartzite Basin is a good place to camp.

So, for this rare, if you find it and kill it or battle it or whatever, give us valuable details: the name of the area you found him, the direction he was flying, as well as details of the fight, especially the adds. If you failed, was there a debuff that let you know you were about to fail (similar to Thrusting Hodir's Spear daily in Storm Peaks), was there a way to recover from being overwhelmed, et cetera. All this information will help everyone who wants to farm this mount, have an easier time finding it, and not have to sort through over 500 comments of useless information.

Also, would be wise to check both the page on the npc Aeonaxx (because we are tracking him), as well as the page dedicated to the mount.

Found him at stonecore lvl right by instance lvl. mounted him and he took me for a ride, it then says kill him before he kills you or something like that, i was unable to attack him i coudent figure it out. He also summons little whelps to attack you i was also unable to attack them even with them targeted it. Just sat there a watched my health drop, tried jumping off to see if he would come after me but he just despawned. really aggravated atm lol. who knows when he will respawn. I was lvl82 mage when this occurred. I hope this dosent happen to you guys.

I now see that other people are having this problem, I really hope blizzard fixes this soon because alot of people put alot of time in looking for this just to have it slip away.

I found Aeonaxx around 23:45 server time - he was flying around roughly northwest of the Temple of Earth, between the temple and The Pale Roost. He was at roughly the same altitude as the Stonecore entrance portal, and seemed to be flying counter-clockwise.

Mounted up, began dpsing, then wondered why his health wasn't going down. Turns out I couldn't hit him with melee (I'm a DPS warrior); every time I hit an ability I was told I was too far away from my target. Nothing worked, and I had to sit there and endure a painful couple of minutes, until eventually I died. So there may be a melee bug, or else perhaps an issue with positioning when you first mount him.

Note: It seems he despawns after a failed attempt, so if you find him and you want that mount, make sure you kill him first time.

I killed Aeonaxx yesterday during my rush to 85.

I noticed that when my character was facing the dragon's head, I kept getting the error "The target needs to be in front of you." When I swung my camera around to face the tail, I was able to DPS him without a problem as a caster DPS. Perhaps this is why many of you weren't able to kill him after mounting him?

Also interesting to note, many times throughout the fight, Aeonaxx was untargettable. I would lose my target and wouldn't be able to re-target him (or her?) for a few seconds. This may be related to the adds spawning or a phasing issue; I wasn't paying enough attention at the time.

I didn't think to get coords, but he was flying west or northwest of the temple.

The name of the Rare Spawn that drops this mount is named Aeonaxx level 85.

It is rumored that if you fail at your attempt of downing him he despawns.

My theory is that there is a shorter downtime to Aeonaxx when someone fails. The actual downtime doesn't clock until he is dead.
There were quite a few people in Deepholm asking about him and giving it a few goes when I was out there- seems I walked away with the winning lottery ticket.

Aeonaxx surveys west between Temple of Earth and Quartzite Basin.
I was able to spot him from where I was perched, a few feet away from the platform that lead to Stonecore so you can see him from there if you are just waiting around in a queue.

You fly up to him and right click to mount the spawn, he will be friendly but will then switch to hostile.

Aeonaxx will then begin to fly around Deepholm is a large circle continuously spawning little whelps to either side of his head, the whelps are also level 85.

Take out the whelps but keep up any dots if you can on the big guy himself.
As a clothie their flame spits hit for about 2k-2.5k, so they do add up if you ignore them.
I don't know if it's a bug or not but when I left one alone healing myself back up, randomly one would fall away. Don't count on this though all the time. This is just what happened to me, I haven't found anyone else on my server to discuss any details.

If and when you defeat Aeonaxx, his corpse will drop to the ground. Do not scream or panic. As he falls you will get a parachute that brings you down to the corpse.
Loot and success! You now have a fantastic new ride to show off.

Currently the fight is bugged until further hot fixes and repair bugs, otherwise right now you will be spammed with the message, "Your target must be in front of you." with most abilities that have a cast time and melee attacks.
Edited Note: You can turn towards the tail to melee him.

I was luck enough to have been on my Shadow Priest, just tossed up Shadow Word: Pain and Devouring Plague, kept myself bubbled and renewed. Dispersion and Hymn of Hope was a constant use whenever the two were up.
Killed him around 11:38pm Server time on Llane.

Waiting for the next one to get a time on the respawn.

Gorgeous mount I must say in shadow form.

I recieved the first kill of Aeonaxx on Greymane earlier today, armory Cosselomus(warrior) for proof.
I came across Aeonaxx almost due west of the Temple of Earth at and altitude approximately the same as the stonecore portal. He was flying clockwise around the temple but about halfway between it and the "wall" of the cavern at the time I encountered him. I flew in close and clicked to mount him... that's when everything went wrong. I was unable to attack him or the adds he summoned at first. Thankfully I had just finished tanking the Stonecore and was still in my tank gear and spec. I found that if I scrolled my camera to look straight down he was targettable for about 1 minute and after that minute he would be deselcted and untargetttable for about another minute. With him selected I was able to pop battleshout and then thunderclap which did do damage to him... although 2k damage every 1-2 minutes would definitely take awhile to whittle away his ~770k healthpool. By the time I got him down to around 750k I was getting very frustrated and started messing around while waiting for the CD on BS to come up so I could thunderclap again when I found the "trick" I used to kill him. I found that when I manually rotated my character to face his tail after he became targettable that I was suddenly able to melee him and do some serious damage to his health pool. His pathing he takes while you are riding him seems to be almost random, flying around all of Deepholm, not just circling the tower. When I finally did kill him (I waited till he was close enough to the ground that I wouldn't die from the impact) the parachute did deploy and I was able to loot the reigns.

Note: He starts out as a "Silver" rare elite, but when you mount him he turns into a regular "gold" elite. The only interface chance that happens is you get the "dismount" arrow showing up, nothing else changes. Due to him changing from a Rare Elite to a Regular Elite is probably why if you fail to kill him he despawns.

Ok, so I got this guy on my enhance shaman Keekoshokee, first of 5 in Deepholm found him right above the middle the earth realm flying at about the entrance of The Stonecore height. Friendly until mounted you fight him and I couldn't fight him at first with any abilties but ranged, I grew frightened didn't know what to do and started turning surprisingly enough I started to melee him when I faced his tail.... No one can help you kill him he's too fast.

My guildies couldn't even roll on it after trying to follow me and being in my party..... So if you see him and you're a melee class just turn around to his tail and start whackin him, he falls pretty easy I killed the adds he spawned and healed myself to full. I never went below 80% life I was really excited when I saw the drake drop. It currently is bugged also the drake and does not hold you on it's top but puts you in the sitting position within his claws....

I can answer anything else I don't know the cords exactly since I have started to run without mods, but as I said Stonecore height at least in front of the temple if you were to exit it from foot, has a vehicle enter ability and uhmmm that's all I can think of.

If you guys have anything else to ask I can do my best to help you guys farm first time posting on wowhead so... just message me or leave a message whatever you do I'll come back after work.

Hey i was looking around for some quest info and i stumbled upon this thread, then today i logged on to do my dailies and i ran right into the DRAKE. it was tricky to kill b/c i had hard time targeting him..then i just realized you must turn towards the nearest body part which is his left or right wing. dps that down and its a sinch. The adds i used FoKs to kill b/c i couldnt target them most of the time and i was nervous and happy i found it on my first try, But this also bring to mind something. Either Cata has started off REALLY WELL for me or this drake is not so rare. Or perhaps rare spawns like this are affected by the early release respawn rates that are effecting quest mobs and the like. Anyway it took me so long to figure out how to damage the thing i had time to Alt-Tab and turn on fraps for the last few seconds of my kill. This happened a couple hours ago on Illidan Server. And i killed him right outside of the Earth Temple up in the air pretty high but just to the right.. so on the map if the Temple is center the i ran into him at 5 or 6 oclock . i will add the link to the fraps of me getting this as soon as its done uploading.

Got My mount last night at roughly 7:45
lvl 82 Blood DK
found him northwest of the temple at about the height of the stonecore dungeon entrance with about 770K hp, was hesitant at first to try and fight due to his lvl and hp lol but i decided to go for it and got the drake....
like other posters have said you need to turn around to hit him i was using blood boil a lot at first to dmg him i thought you had to just kill the little drakes but then i realized that for some reason i still wasnt killing them after about 5 min of watching my hp slowly go down and thinking i wasnt gonna do it i figured out to turn around ignore the adds and hit his tail... only 2 will ever be up at a time i noticed... cant remember how hard they hit but it was noticablein icc epics and some cata blues....also noticed every now and then i would deselect him and he would be untargetable for a few seconds didnt make much of a difference when fighting him though..... when i finaly did bring him fully down as others have stated i instantly dismounted and parachuted to the ground and claimed my reward best choice i ever made to go and attempt himserver first for the mount woot
my advice to those going to fight him stay as topped up as much possible and ignore adds and just kill him

Got this guy this morning when I logged in. Found him above and to the right of the entrance of The Temple of the Earth. There are LOS issues, but if you turn towards the tail you can still DPS. Adds come one at a time with 7K HP health and are ranged away form you dealing breath, hitting on cloth for about 3-5K per hit. Took about 5 min or so to down him, just kept shielded, and popped glyphed evocate a few times right after an add was downed. Best time for any healing, evo, bandage, etc is directly after an add is downed, as you have a solid 10-15 seconds of no dmg coming in at this point. Aeonaxx does no dmg himself.

My only question is that as a hunter (literally, not just a mount hunter :D ) should I forget about engaging him, or can I use my ranged skills to kill him?
As my/our melee skill set is pretty much limited...

I was lucky enough to come across it yesterday evening after 1 hour of searching I saw it spawn.

The facts so far:
The Drake is an 100% Drop from a mob called Aeonaxx.
It seemed to patrol the inner circle of deepholm.
Its a rare, but friendly, mob.
It has 700K+ Health Points.
It spawned for me dirrectly west of the Temple.
He flys at roughly the same level as the Stonecore entrance

Aproaching it you are given an option to ride it, as you would a normal vehicle. Upon "mounting" it he becomes hostile and a message appears saying "Defeat Aeonaxx before you are overwhelmed by whelps" He begins summoning whelps while flying EXTREMELY fast around Deepholm, but I dont know if it was a bug, or if its suppose to be like that but for me they (the whelps) did nothing apart from follow us, then despawn, then more appeared over time, which also eventually despawned. I had a friend with me trying to help me kill it by trying to anticipate where he will fly and being in position to fire ranged attacks at it, but it flys at well over ~~400%~~ 500%Speed and catching up is an impossible feat. Also once engaging him he begins to fly rather high. So, killing him... His hit box is EXTREMELY bugged. Seriously, as a melee (ret paladin) I could barely hit him. I relied on Judgements and Exorcisms to do most of the damage. While on his back you cant move and even though your on him alot of your attacks wont be able to reach him, the trick to getting around this is to turn your camera about until you find the "sweet spot" where your attacks magically become inrange. Its a REALLY frustrating bug, due to this it took me atleast 5 minutes, maybe more like 10, to kill him, also sometimes he randomly untargets.

Once defeated, your thrown off his back and given a parachute, while his body falls to the floor. Simply hover down and collect your new drake. (Note: currently its bugged, upon mounting the actual item your character appears not on its back but underneath its frontal legs.)

at 5p.m. server time he spawned, flying counter-clockwise round the temple.
i had to turn my char (balance druid) to his back, and could kill all :)

I got this mount today, I am a level 85 hunter. At approximately 4:00PM Server time Aeonaxx spawned on the server Feathermoon. He appeared to spawn over the Quartzite Basin. I sat on the ledge that is just to the south of the entrance of the Stonecore and NPCScan found him from there. I can confirm that his ID is 50062, and that NPCScan will find him. He was flying North rather slowly, looking like he was going to circle the Temple of Earth. I did not hang around to watch him patrol given the large number of people in the area.

I flew up to him and got on, and discovered that as a Hunter I was unable to shoot him with my ranged weapon; I had to melee him. This took me about twenty minutes. At first I was getting the error messages of "you are facing the wrong way" or "target too close". I tried turning my camera towards his tail, which sort of worked, but I was still having a lot of problems being unable to hit him. I finally resolved this by physically turning my character towards his tail, and then was able to hit him

The whelps did not cause me much trouble, I was able to shoot them with ranged and they died in about two hits. They also didn't seem to attack me unless I attacked them first, and would sometimes fall away and despawn without having done anything to me. I was trying to kill them, and did not see how many whelps would show up, or if they would despawn indefinitely.

When I finally killed him, I looted the mount and got on it, only to discover the problem that others have reported, that he sort of looks like he is carrying you in his claws instead of riding on his back. I did notice that my character got very small, and that when the mount shakes his head or anything, my character will move as though she is sitting on it's neck, in the saddle. I reported this to Blizzard.

Congratulations to all the other people who got lucky with this mount, it is a very beautiful dragon and very much worth it in my opinion. And to those still on the hunt, Good luck!

As a side note of interest, when walking on the ground with this mount it will make the stomping noises similarly to corehounds or giants.

Level 85 Paladin - Hyjal Realm

I just got this mount as well. I am not sure where he pats because there were many people around and I jumped on him as soon as I saw him. I was right around 45, 53 when I watched him spawn. I was farming him by flying in a counter-clockwise circle around the Temple of Earth. The fight itself is simple. As many have said, you just have to spin around to face his tail and beat the tar out of him until he is dead. Easy win. The drakes were not a problem for me, but then I am a 140k hp pally tank. I never went below 95% health and never healed myself. Grats to everyone else lucky enough to get this one!

As a side note, I was farming him for about 40 minutes. However, someone whispered me that they had been waiting for 4 hours prior to that for him to spawn.

I went to deepholm for one reason only: to find a dungeon. My bro hinted that their is a rare elite here that is EXACTLY like time lost, I I literatly went south of the temple on my flyer, then I saw it. This rare is extremely easy to do. When you mount him, aim towards his tail, otherwise you can't hit him or the adds. If you can heal, it's just a non-attacking raid boss with 2 whelps on occasion. I haven't used the mount yet since I do not have epic flying, and I'm trying to get gold. But yeah, there is all I know about it.

I saw him spawn at the over the goblin npc just like casedistorted said and it was moving clockwise but wasn't really high in the air, It was around 10:30pm the 15th and the first kill on my server was the same day but at 7am,So knowing that I guess the smallest spawn time he can have is 12 hours,since it spawned twice in a day.Some random guy passed by when I saw it spawn and stole it from me , bleh! So I decided to wait here until it respawn but now it's the 17th and it havent spawn yet , I have been waiting for 35 hours now and it didn't spawn yet , so what could be the maximum time to his respawn time ? or he might share with another rare?I didn't go afk once on that 35 hours and it's still going I'll wait 48 hours and if it didn't spawn I'm gonna kill myself rofl so anybody has already waited more than 48 hours for it?

Just got this mount an hour ago. I am a level 85 warlock and this was a very easy fight for me.
I waited for a couple of days and saw him spawn at 5:15 A.M. server time on Kilrogg. He was off to the right from the entrance of the Stonecore. Up a little higher than the instances eye level. I stayed at the eye level of the small blue pillar just above The Stonecore entrance. Then I saw him spawn right under me. There were other players camping for him, but I managed to nab him.
You can mount him from your flying mount. As soon as you mount him, he becomes hostile and takes you for a ride around Deepholm. He didn't sick really any drakes on me. So I didn't have to worry about them. I had to click on his head to target him, but you have you move around until he is in line of sight. Sometimes he will move out of it, or it will untarget. I just had to click on his head again and move around till I could attack him. The fight only took 2-3 minutes for me.
I finished him near the entrance of the Crumbling Depths. Looted, then summoned my new mount. :)
Good luck to you all looking for this mount! Don't give up! As long as you're patient, you will see him spawn! :)

I feel that I don't need to mention anything special as everyone on the recent comments has all the info given already and it is still as of 2am Pacific Standard time on 12.22.10 accurate. I just got him on my 3rd attempt looking on Ner'zhul and that was after maybe a grand total of 5-7 minutes searching. I almost gave up.

I flew around the Stonecore entrance for a bit until spotting him. I don't know if anyone mentioned this though, but what I found helped me to spot him and know he was around easier (since he was hard to spot even when I targeted him) was to create a macro that simply read /tar Aeonaxx

Just spammed the macro and BOOM! Caught sight of him after awhile. He was farther out than I expected, if that helps. Also, was easy to down as a 85 ilvl 329 prot pally, although I wasn't hit enough from whelps to recover my mana and so the fight dragged on for several minutes as most of the time I was pretty low and waiting on mana regen from my Judgements and Arcane Torrents. Whelps hit for a measly 1.8-2k dmg and dropped like flies.

Just wanted to share and wish everyone else good luck (sincerely), especially those of you who've been diligently searching for her.

We've been tracking the mob that drops this - Aeonaxx - on the site where we have the exact spawn spots and all the information on Time-Lost Proto-Drake.

http://tlpdresource.com/aeonaxx - There are forums there where we're weeding through all relevant information towards actual spawn spots. Not so much flight path, obviously it seems to go fly around the outside of the tower until mounted, but we're trying to get the actual spawn spots down if anyone's interested in working with us.

Was done with daily quest at Therazane and saw this flying over my head as i almost got to the entrance at the temple.

Mounted him and flew around a bit before i killed him.
And the loot was awesome..

I just took Aeonaxx down as a survival hunter - after the initial mounting and panic of what to do I just turned towards his tail and spammed raptor strike. Whenever an add would show up I would just tab target it and use multi-shot, and it would sometimes give Aeonaxx my serpent sting effect. As long as the adds go down quickly it is completely possible as a hunter, although it takes around 10 minutes to bring him down. Just be patient.

12/23/10 1508hrs Bladefist server time -
running NPCscan with NPC ID # 50062

Aeonaxx spawned in the white crystal formation west/southwest of the Temple of Earth in Quartzite Basin. Flew at lower level in a clockwise corkscrew rotation, around the Temple of Earth, increasing altitude as he made his rotation at high speed. (Exact speed unknown, but at minimum greater than 330%. Was unable to keep up with 330% flying speed (Prot pally 310% riding + Crusader Aura). By the time reached a full 360 degree rotation of the Temple, he was steady at an altitude roughly equal to the Stonecore dungeon entrance.

Another pally (was unable to confirm - possibly horde) mounted him - but reins are still unlinkable.

I followed as long as I could, and observed pathing once mounted similar to previous posts.
I did not get any screenshots, due to my pounding heart and hasty attempts to keep up.

I'm going to keep at it...5 days now, I will add more when I know more. Good luck all!

Camp location: Quartzite Basin stonecore level.
Lore: Well unfortunately when my scan went off I disconnected. Logged back on to see a horde mounted on it flying circles around earth temple. I started my camp again after 6hrs and when I was logged off for 4hrs for sleep and came back on, the same horde camper was underneath me so I didnt think aeon spawned. Now to fast forward you 2 days.....

Rare: Xariona
Camp Time: 40ish some hrs.
Spawn Time: Dec 25th 2:00pm
Location: High Rock Ring
Lore: After having the #@% scared outta me my NPC scan showed Xariona and not Aeonaxx.
However this is leaving me to believe that these 2 rares share a spawn timer. It's a TLPD theory and I don't think it's far from the truth. I'm continuing my camp regardless Xariona flying around above me.

PS. Make the other posts similar to this style. It will benefit everyone by seeing spawn times and locations and to determine if these drakes are in fact sharing a spawn timer.

Apparently it causes you to miss rare spawns too. Camping for 54 Hours EXACTLY and went on a 4 minute smoke break and somebody was already fighting him. Think its time to quit smoking. FML

Just got this beauty yesterday on Ronninn of Azuremyst. Spotted NW of the temple, flying counterclockwise at the height of stonecore entrance. Being a hunter, this was a very long fight. Aoenaxx CANNOT be ranged, no matter how you face. Can only be meleed when facing roughly toward tail. becomes untargetable every 10 or 20 seconds and must be retargeted. The adds come one at a time, and hover near her head. As counterintuitive as it may be, the adds can only be shot with your bow when you face the tail with your back to them. they have very low hp, and i was able to 1 shot with an explosive shot. they come out about every 10 seconds, so you will spend a good bit of time switching targets in this fight. Took me about 20 min to kill this dragon, but I took no damage whatsoever from the adds. So while it is a long fight, it is also an easy one if done correctly. used scatter shot and raptor strike to kill. Note: Cannot use pet or traps

I downed him last night about 4:45 server time on Tichondrius. He was flying east by northeast past the entrance of the stonecore. He was also flying pretty high. I put him at the set of mini pillars above the stonecore entrance.

I think I caught him in a glitch because once I mounted him, my health wasn't dropping and I just had to chip away at him. Has roughly 750k. Spawned adds that did nothing to me but flying around along side us.

Logged in the game, went to Deepholm, stood on a piece of floating rock for 2 minutes.... DING.... NPC Scan warning about Aeonaxx.

Managed to be the 1st on his back, started flying around.... But couldn't attack him, ranged or Melee. Was starting to think that this was a bug, but then I turned my char around and was able to hit him... Melee.... Took me a good 15 minutes to kill him. The good thing is that I was able to DPS the adds.

THe mount is bugged too, I am sitting... below it? When flying

Flying around in Deepholm, I seen Aeonaxx, and Jumped on. As a Hunter I could not use any range, so the only option was to use my staff. I just turned and faced the wing and was able to hit the drake. At one point, the drake lower it's head and I got hit for 14k, at which point I feign death, got back up and went to work on the wing again, and I never got hit after that. I think it might have bugged. Took me about 20 minutes to take down the 700k+ hp the drake had. Funny thing is, I wasn't looking for it and didn't even know it dropped a mount untill a Rogue ask me to dismount for 10k gold, I just thought it was a quest of some sort, lol. Lucky Me .... .... ... This might be news to some people, so make it a green post if it helped you out.

Since sometime last week the server reset on my realm (Shattered Halls - US), I have been trying to see if I can link the reins at all. It has undoubtably been more than a week, and the drake has yet to be cached again. I think this is subtle proof that Aeonaxx could possibly have a longer spawn timer than originally anticipated, or perhaps it is just a really rare alternative spawn of the Bloodsucker. (Time lost was 16% chance in place of Vyragosa, Aeonaxx could be less)

I hope this helps some of you out there.

After about 2 weeks searching for it on my main I gave up and got the Drake from Tol Barad, and decided to level an alt to 85. I was on my way to hand in a quest at the Temple of Earth and decided to have a look. I was dissappointed not to see him, but when I turned around, There he was.

I quickly flew over to mount him, but he wasn't moving. I assume he only just spawned. When I mounted him he starting flying me around Deepholm at roughly 500% (People were watching on 310% and couldnt keep up at all).

Combat: I could only hit him facing his head and within the 5 minute fight (I was Prot-ret) He spawned about 5 whelps. The fight was more time consuming then hard as I diddn't drop below 90% hp at all. He gave me roughly 2 bars of exp too! Also, there was a good 6 people around the corpse when I had landed.

A few facts

There is no current Feat of Strength / Acheivement for killing him.

You still discover the zone as you fly around if you already haven't.

The "little whelps" actually have the stone dragon models, and are bigger than you. Aeonaxx is just huge.

Hes a rare elite friendly, then just elite in the fight, then rare elite when he dies.

I spotted him above the goblin shaman quest giver, but at the same level as the stonecore entrance.

The drake is bugged when mounted. You are shown to be "grabbed" by his front claws. Part of me thought it was a dragon-form at first like the vial :(.

Well I just logged in and wouldn't you know it that Aeonaxx was flying right beside me.(Mannoroth-US) Damn good bit of luck I would say. I had been casually farming this mount for a few days now ( casual = spending 5-10 mins a night right before I logged off in Deepholm and 5-10 mins when I logged on ) and putting myself in the spot most people have reported seeing Aeonaxx.

My find location ( give or take a couple of degrees) was 42,48 and She was flying at about the level of the Stonecore entrance.. maybe just a little lower.

Meleed as an Enhance Shaman no problem. Model still bugged :(

Also of note: my npcscan did not pick up on her. Maybe my setting are off idk.

Finally got it january 13th at 22.58 server time, Chamber of Aspects EU.

Camped for a total of 70 hours spread over the last 5 days. During this time I think there was a spawn when I was asleep the first night but I do not have any proof of this it is just that the reins were linkable after that night.

My spot was sort in between Stonecore, Quartsize Basin and Temple of Earth Entrance. A little bit west of Initiate Goldmine, he is standing just west of Temple of Earth entrance. My altitude was about Stonecore entrance.
I think this is the best place since it covers most "known" spawnpoints.

Aeonaxx spawned down in Quartsize Basin and began flying upwards in a spiral. It didn't get any longer since I mounted it.

Got mine today, pure luck, did no camping at all. Stopped at the Stonecore entrance to get myself some food and Bam! NpcScan went mad. It spawned exactly same place as for this guy:

As a mage he was no problem to living bomb/firebolt/scorch, adds did hardly any damage at all. My hand were still shaking 5 mins after i killed it.

Found the dragon on Magtheridon EU 19.30 when NPC scan went off. Someone had marked it with a raid icon and I had it targeted but didnt see it anywhere. Cursing I dropped a /1 gratz on the mount. But I didn't see its health go down. Apparently the other guy couldn't quite get a visual either so I frantically flew around stone core until I lost the target. Went back and found it again.... and suddenly there it was. Flying at around altitude of Stone core entrance, SW of the tower.
Jumped on it and took about 15mins of auto-whacking and raptor striking it. Had no trouble at all getting hits in with my view on normal (just looking ahead like you normally do). Had trouble targeting the adds now and then because the big dragon body was in the way. But as you can bandage while on his back, it's no problem at all.

Someone said it was the 3rd drake on the server, but no clue how he can know that. Very happy hunter now since it's my new char so I dont have fancy WotLK mounts or TBC yet :-)

Hey all... so I just got mine today! (Jan 16 2011) 85 Paly on Anub'Arak US

After reading most of the useful posts, here is my experience which hopefully will help you.

1. I'd recommend camping aeonaxx on a weekend when u don't have much planned... I read spawn timer ranging from 6hrs to 24 hrs, but for me it was more like 12hrs once I started my serious camping.

2. I saw aeonaxx twice... once on Sat 15th at noon (Started camping at 9:00am)... lost him to hord toon. The second, and when I killed him, was on Sun 16th at 7:45pm (started camping at 10:45am)

3. NPC scan definitely is a must, or any addon of the sort, plus a high view distance at least while camping him.

4. I camped him just south of the stonecore entrance at the height of the entrance because I read it spawned high, but it actually spawned at the quary... just below me thankfully at (45,60). However, on a youtube vid someone captured him spawning at (52,62) roughly from what I could tell. I found that from (45,60) at roughly the height of the stonecore entrance is the optimal point to camp... you can see at least 3 reported spawn points from there!

5. If you really want this mount, its not as bad as some ppl are making it out to be, but you definitely need a couple of days when your not really playing, but can be logged on at all times, so you get it next in line... competition wasnt too bad

Found on US Windrunner at 4:40am server time. (Thanks NPC Scan) I just ported to DH and mounted to go on an herb grind, flew up and to the right out of the temple and he was flying in the quartzite basin at the stone core entrance level. Mounted him with another person right behind me. Took me about 20 minutes to kill him as I was on my lvl 82 hunter. I figured out that I could only melee Aeonaxx but, I could range and pretty much one shot his adds. Got to a safe spot to finish him off and I got a parachute so I wouldn't fall to my death. Such a nice looking mount!

No sign of Aeonaxx or Blood seeker over the weekend when I had time to camp.

Sat at my normal camping spot ( 44.62 ) facing the temple and QB just to the rear then at 21.47 (game-time) my NPC Scan went off and Aeonaxx had spawn just to the left of me at ( 42.57 ) and was really low to the ground

Luckily I was the only person there at the time but not long before 3 other people ( 2 horde and 1 ally ) were sitting very close to that area.
The fight was very easy just killed the add when I saw it, only ever saw one appear at a time and then focus back on the drake.
I never in the world thought I would get this mount…… in fact I was going to give up but I was determined to get it! So for all you people that still haven’t got it DON’T GIVE UP!

I was in Archerus: Ebon Hold getting my level 83 training, and after hearthing back to the Temple of Earth, my NPC_Scan addon went off. My heart started beating quickly, so many thoughts rushed through my head, like "oh cool, a rarespawn, no big deal", "HOLY SH!T IT'S AOENAXX", or "Is he already dead? has someone killed him? where is he I have to find out!"
all within, literally milliseconds. After SPAMMING the NPC_Scan small 3D Aoenaxx icon to auto-target him, I was releived to see he was alive, this means after hearthing, he literally just been a fresh spawn.

Being only level 83, I thought my chances of taking down the 800K Hp Rare Spawn were slim, Seeing as his health was significantly higher than the average level 83 Elite, but like All things apart from Cataclysmic Heroics, it was a piece of cake, I put my newly specced Frost Spec to the test as I brutally beat down Aoenaxx at an incredibly slow pace, I was on his back flying for about 3 - 4 minutes, and by the time I had slain the beast, I was left with 43% HP.

My Heart racing from point A to B, I popped all of my cooldowns and trinkets, and found this an acceptionally easy, and heart-racing fight. After Killing Aoenaxx, I slowly descended down right in front of the Temple of Earth, allowing all to witness my epic victory, but as I slowly descended, I noticed I wasn't in the Temple of Earth Sanctuary, and there were Several Horde and Alliance both watching me drift down slowly, the majority of these horde were low leveled, but 2 of them were level 85. I could've been killed instantly, I could've lost my chance to obtain this mount. I quickly popped on my anti-magic Shell, and Barrier, because Safety was a major factor I needed in order to live.

After surviving long enough to loot the mount, (I was never killed), I quickly ran into the sanctuary, mounted up (on the outer edge of the enterance) and flew over to Aoenaxx's corpse to catch a quick screenshot before he VERY quickly despawned. If I had to give an exact time, from Death to Despawning, his corpse was only present for about 50 seconds.

apart from my epic story, here's some side info that might help.

-It was 1:53 am Server time
I've heard that Aoenaxx spawns early morning, well, here's real-deal evidence

- He despawned after about 50 seconds.
Once you hit the ground after Parachuting/Slow falling down, you've got about 30 seconds to loot him, and take any victory screenshots you want

- Hunter Pets, DK/Warlock Minions, and any other "creatures" don't help.
whether they be from Trinkets (e.g Elementium Dragonling), abilities (Raise Ghoul, Army of the Dead), or Hunter/Warlock allies, the fight with Aoenaxx will either disable the use of the abilities to summon them, or they will just plummet after being spawned straight away.

I have owned Aeonaxx in restoration spec! It took me about 8 min to deal about 800k damage to him. There where no time to change spec, it was a bit dramatic but... I have it!

Sitting on this dragon is bugged. Im not on his back as usual, but beneath him. It looks like hanging on his claws.

I had to create an account to post some information for you guys. I killed Aeonaxx last night on my level 84 Unholy DK. It was difficult and it pretty much came down to me using Death Strike to get a victory. I was down to around 5% or so health while he was still at 20ish. So it is possible to do in questing gear and not being 85 BUT not easy at all. The whelps got a little crazy. It probably would have been much easier if I had kept my cool but I camped for this guy for two weeks on my rogue and never saw him even spawn. I read this thread everyday for that two weeks. So when I accidentally ran across him last night while mining I was ecstatic and freaked out, completely forgetting how to play. Okay so here come the useful details:

I am on Vek'nilash and he spawned at about 2am server. It was a little bit after and I did not see the exact time. NPCscan was set up across all characters and did not go off. I had added the ID that was listed on this site and so I don't know what happened there. Here is the interesting part, most people have said he circles the world pillar roughly at the stonecore height in a large circle. I found him doing very tight circles directly over the quartzite basin. He was at about Stonecore level. I watched him do three circles as I approached him. I mounted up and he hauled butt. I did have to use my arrow keys to get a good position on him as my first few attacks missed. I hope some of this helps.

Level 85 Arcane Mage - Eitrigg

I was told about this mount last night so I headed over to check out is path using _NPCScan. Came here for some more info and flew around for about 45 minutes following wolfdivr's pathing suggestion. It was late so i figured I'd try again today.

It's 1pm EST. I had camped just above the Stonecore entrance. Buffed Brilliance and Mage Armor and flew out to the "Ring". There is a ring of ledges floating in a circle around the Temple of Earth. I decided to make my counter-clockwise flight path just to the inside of and just below them. I got 1/3 of the way around and there he was flying in a slightly tighter circle around the Temple but at the same level. Flew up to him, jumped on and went for a ride.

Began my attack with my heart pumping like crazy. Key, stay calm. It isn't tough. Began my attack (I'm a mage with no range issues so no help there, sorry) and once an add flew in I popped him. They have about 7800hp. Reacquired Aeonaxx (tab works great between him and adds as there is nothing else around) and continued the attack. I had 4 adds the entire fight and didn't unload on him until he was at 20%. It wasn't needed as he was going down steady.

Keep in mind I'm only in quest gear atm. I never dropped below 98% health.

All I can say is it pays to be in the right place at the right time. To all you guys that camp for hours I wish you the best of luck.

On a side note. _NPCScan worked amazing! I make sure I delete my creature cache before logging on each time for safety but I don't believe it's needed if you haven't spotted him previously. But do you really want to take that chance?

83 Ret pally, i found him right in front of the earth temple. took me about 10 mins to kill him. I used alot of AOE as this seemed to take down the drakes/whelps attacking me and this slowed the damage. used every CD i had, alot of divine storm and eventually i took him down. mount looks awesome even though the seating position is glitched.

For all the Hunters:
I just found him and imo the easiest/fastest way to defeat him since you can't use ranged attacks is:

Be in a Survival Specc with as much points in Serpent Spread as possible.

Always use Raptor Strike and Auto Melee Attack.

When a small add (his brood) spawn, use Multi-Shot on the add. This hits Aeonaxx too and inflicts the DOT.

My fight lastet about 8 Minutes (could be less, got my fishing head equipped when i engaged him).

Over the whole fight the Multi-Shot + Serpent Spread (1/2 Skilled) did about 20% of my whole DPS. (~2k DPS).

I still had 75% HP, when i got him down. Don't worry you'd die too fast.

I haven't got any problems with melee attacks, but i always watched his head, because the adds flew there.

PS: You can use Bandages while on Aeonaxx.

PPS: Someone asked, how hard he hits. Actually he doesn't do any damage to you. Only the adds make damage, not much thou. They hit melee with about 200 damage and do fireballs with about 2-3k...
Over the hole fight (8 mins as a hunter) i took only ~48k damage and used one time a bandage. So not that much damage at all.

Spawn zones on map confirmed. Does not matter weather you do any quest in Deepholm or not you can easily do this fight at 82 any class. The reason most people are not seeing him... #1 wrong place wrong time that may happen,# 2 on (my server) horde use speedhack and that allows them to jump from spawnpoint to spawnpoint as fast as they want to go(DO NOT CHEAT) so spawns are lost there. So dont be suprised if you miss it on the first day. Spawns randomly at any of the above spawns 3 zones random in each of the main 6 zones, he can be at any hight /random, any direction also /random.

Needless to say its not TLPD, best thing to do is fly clockwise or counter clockwise that is really up to you, but fly around Earth Temple. npc_scan a must npc_overlay also a must. Fly between Overlay flightpath and Earth Temple and hours later you will run into him head-on at some point. If somebody doesn't get there first that is.

Spawned at 45, 45 after 3 days of nonstop camping at 18:30 Eu-Neptulon server time. Spotted it with my second account which has been used mainly for capming rares but had enough time to get there after 3 min with main to get the kill. during this 3 minutes he was hovering at 60 yards altitude and didnt move an inch. With this kill im oficially done will all outdoors mounts and just need 5 more mounts to hit 150.

He spawned right below me at exactly 4:00pm server time, just north of Deathwing's fall at the elevation of the stonecore portal. I guess I was pretty lucky, I've only specifically farmed him for a total of 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Spawned on Tuesday 15th february at 4:35pm server time on the EU-Terokkar realm, the spawn point was directly north of the temple at the same height as the stonecore instance, aeonaxx was seen flying in a circular motion never once leaving the spawn spot, yelled in /g chat and a guild member came running as I already possessed the mount.

I recently got this mount as Foire on realm Ursin (shaman)
i found him seemingly patrolling in small circles directly between the temple of earth and the pale stone where you fight his mate for the therazane daily. he was at about stonecore height. seems the bug where you cant hit him as melee has been fixed, as i was fine as enhancement. you are unable to use totems and wolves(not sure about hunter pets but i doubt it) but the whelps did minimal damage in mail. i was able to just ignore them and dps the drake, occasionally using maelstrom weapon procs to heal myself. i have a theory (with very little basis) that his spawn and/or patrol pattern is somehow affected by the death of his mate aeosera(only fight-able through the therazane daily quest restless brood or the deepholm quest resonating blow) as he has <mate of aeosera> and i encountered him right after completing the daily, seemingly flying in small circles. not really much evidence to support that, but an idea if people are having trouble finding him. good luck to you all!

I am currently questing in Deepholm. Had to go to the toilet, so I went. When I came back my NPC scan was beating like mad, and I could see the drake in the distance, it had just passed right by my head. I flew over, but just seconds before I got to it another dude grabbed it :(

I recently only came back to wow and found out about this drake 2 days ago. So I installed _NPCscan (also only found out about this mod 2 days ago from reading the comments) and logged in to test my luck.

I flew to the west side of the temple of the earth (seems a lot of people found him there) and started to configure and see how _NPCscan works, before I could click through the options the alert of _NPCscan went off. And there he was, spawned right at (43,60), about 10 yards away from me. So with the knowledge I gathered from the comments, I was able to kill him rather easily as a mage.

A few things to note,

1. as a mage, flame orb and mirror images don't work, the second you pop them they are left behind.

2. the drake still has no /mountspecial in the air as of Feb.28 2011, and /mountspecial on the ground does the "roar" animation, however, there is no roaring sound.

3. the mount animation is fixed, he no longer carries you in his claws, you sit properly on its back.

Went to Deepholm at 05:04 yesterday morning to go get my exalted enchant from Therazane, as I was flying out of the Temple of Earth I spotted Aeonaxx South-east of the entrance at about Stonecore entrance hight. Jumped on him and started killing him, having not used any CD's it took some time taking him down but I finally managed to kill him at Twilight Precipice(Not sure if I got the name right). Looted the mount and therefor got my 100 mounts achievement. :)

I picked this up after camping for 4 days on Dalvangyr. I would logout while standing on the spinning rock located a little ways out of Stonecore mentioned above and would check the area a few times a day while playing. I just happened to login and _npcscan alerted me right away. It was approx 3:30 server time. There was also a server restart today and I was the first Horde in the area as I saw the server actually come up. He and the Time Proto Drake was no where to be found in there respective areas. So I found him about 14 and a half hours after the server restart (as mentioned 3:30am).
As an 85 Fire Mage I had no trouble downing him and I just ignored the adds. I clicked his head to target and never lost focus during the entire fight. I used evocation about 3/4 through the fight.

Oh he was located (looking out from stonecore) to the left a ways and about half way lower to the ground. With a little work and some luck you will find him and get the mount sooner than later.

Was lucky enough to get this mount today on my main Crucian on EU Darkmoon Faire. Roughly 11am server time he spawned right above me at roughly the same altitude as the Stonecore enterance. NPC scan went off as I was licking back some tuna! Raced over to Aeonaxx and the fight lasted a few minutes. was easy enough to target her head and dps away. Traps didn't work and obviously no pet for assistance. Tried to bandage at one point but again this didnt appear to work. 1 week of camping every few hours finally paid off :)

I am still shaking. I just flew into Deepholm to find myself another Shale Spider since I abandoned mine early this morning in order to tame Skoll AND Gondria. So I flew in around 9:40pm server time on Malygos, US. I flew around the middle area and headed up North to the caves to find my shale spider.

Well to my shock, at 9:43pm, my NPC scanner went off and I look up and see Aeonaxx flying around right in front of me. I try to manage to remember how to breathe, fly up and mount. I fight for a good 5 mins or so on his back, then finally bring him down. I just sit there shaking the entire time and even 30 mins later, trying to come to reality that I just got this mount.

Found on Malygos, US server 9:43PM on the coordinates, !

Oh, I was also on my lvl 85 BM Hunter, Kasstra. I had no problem killing him and managed to stay above 60k health. I just used Cobra Shot to maintain my Focus, then when the whelps would come, I would tab target and shoot them down with Arcane Shot (only like 2-3 shots) then go back to shooting Aeonaxx. I had no problem killing him, it just took forever. But TOTALLY worth it!

Aeonaxx spawned for me at 11:21 AM 3/18/2011 right in front of the temple and npc scan went off. Couldnt see him at first so had to look higher up for him and finally mounted him. Did not try to kill the ads but instead focused on casting on him (yes hunters CAN cast while mounted on him) and my mistake was in not taking out the ads. Before I realized it I was out of health and no way to get it back. I died and failed attempt.....first time I have ever seen him spawn. After weeks and weeks of camping out for both Aeonaxx and TLP, am quite disappointed. Had just within last 48 hrs respec'd my hunter and am working with new rotation and skills and obviously not adept at it yet so it showed. I will not give up though, having seen him spawn I know he's out there and it can be done. (Was so very very close to having him down but I simply ran out of health)....My concern is how can I get my health back up good while mounted. Just bought some flasks of steelskin for next time but not sure (other than hitting the ads first next time) what to do better. Anyway wanted to let you all know of this sighting, time and place......outside the temple near quartize basin area.....good luck and God bless ya!

I finaly got him today (on the server of Bloodfeather (Ally)), after 2 weeks of camping and waiting and a bit more waiting, he finaly spawned for me!

Spawn.
Aeonaxx spawned just were everybody else see him spawn and the time were 00.45, give or take a minute or two.

The fight were pie!
After reading a lot of "took me about 40 minutes", "took me 20 min" etc. i were kinda scared when i saw him spawn, since i just r.a.p.e.d a horde i didn't have 100% hp, and got very stressed to "mount" Aeonaxx, it was a bit to easy to kill him, i was looking forward for a real fight, but his 700k+ hp went down in seconds.

No clue what this thing was. It was circling outside of the deepholm gate. I had just come back from a quest. Had a bit to drink.. ;) I seen the arrows to jump on so I did. So I jumped on and got the message kill it before the drakes overwhelm you. Lol burned it down as elemental shaman. This makes up for all the times I camped the proto drake :P

I'm glad I decided to not be lazy today and do some Therazane dailies! I ported back to the temple and went to do a quick search for Aeonaxx when NPCscan freaked out right as I left the entrance, and there he was right in front of me. Yay!

Two weeks of camping 12+ hours a day are in the books as Aeonaxx finally decided to show up in the Quartz Basin at 11:30am server time, Ysera.

I had left WoW running in the back ground on my work computer and to my shock, NPC scanner went off in the back ground. I was on a business call at the time and tried my best to focus on the call but finally had to tell him, sorry something came up and hung up the phone. I had never seen Aeonaxx but watched every video I could find on the net and read every post on Wowhead.

So as I saw him rising up in that famous cicular pattern, it was just like I had visioned it from watching everyone else. Instinctivly, I rushed toward him as I literaly leaned forward in my chair trying to get my mount to get that little extra speed. I finally mounted him and off he went. Had no issue downing him in just over a minute being a shadow priest. The only thing running in my head as I parachuted down was, I hope it dont bug out :/, but no bugs today. This good looking drake is mine.

Keep the fairth to those that are still waiting, Im the kind of guy that has no luck and always lost the rolls in raids. Aeonaxx does exist, just put yourself in favorable positions and he will come calling....

Ive been farming this for 22 days at the moment .

As far as i know , aeonaxx spawned 3 times.

Killed him on 4/2 at 5:30 am in the morning. Did 3 ish days of camping (12 hrs each day) after a guildie got his since I heard that was an estimated average respawn. I parked myself at the non broken pillar across from Stonecore in case it spawned to my left or right. There were a few campers as well but only 2 consistent ones.

It spawned across from the entrance of Stonecore. I flew immediately to it hoping I get as lucky as I did with the Time Lost Protodrake. I saw someone on a black dragon drake heading towards him but he had a slower mount speed (150% I think) and I was on my Al'ar with 310% so I blazed past him, mounted on him (Right in front of the poor guy's face) and killed him 2 mins later.

This was definitely more grueling than the Time Lost Proto Drake farming. At least there was a constant spawning with Vyragosa to give you a 6 hr break on the weekends. The Blood Seeker bat supposedly shares the spawn timer with Aeonaxx but I've never seen that bat ever. Also Deepholm is much more open and Aeonaxx's pathing is so out there as opposed to Time Lost flying through the tiny Bor's Breath Canyon or around the Temple of Storms mountain base. Just my opinion.

It appears that as of patch 4.1.0, the colour of this mount, and the same with all stone drake models, has been changed to a darker tone. In my personal opinion, i think it looks quite good :P

The following information is FACTUAL:

Aeonaxx has 6 recorded spawn points. When he spawns, he will do tight circles up and down over a great height, from approximately the top of the entrance to temple of the earth, to somewhere above the upper ring outside the temple which Xariona flies around. Aeonaxx does not at any point follow the same patrol path of Xariona. We all have NPCscan Overlay installed, and reiterating it's incorrect information does NO GOOD. Once engaged, Aeonaxx takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride at varying heights around the Stonecore. You can see a decent video I posted of the 20 seconds or so of interface-less fighting I did as a hunter against her.

At lv 85 those whelps still do aggro you.
You most certainly can ranged attack her. My hunter video shows me facing forward. My pet despawned, and as a BM hunter I slowly killed her w/ my rotation.

The following information is PROBABLE:

It appears from my camping trip that the X,Y coordinates are locked to the 6 or so that we have seen, but the Z coordinate for a spawn is variable along the flight path. This is due to the fact that I left my character directly on top of a bloodseeker spawn, and my Aeonaxx spawn was on the same point, just signifigantly higher. It took me approximately 6 seconds to fly to the height to mount, with my 310% + 10% guild perk. I hope this helps you all in your camp, and remember patience and persistence lead to preserverance.

Just got this on US Coilfang at around 12am server time. I was levelling my alt and was about to port back to Org and logout when I heard NPC Scanner go off. Aeonaxx was right outside the temple of earth about halfway up flying clockwise.

I quickly /who'd Deepholm and no one was there (I'm on a low pop server) so I rapidly logged onto my main (85 Blood DK) and jumped on Aeonaxx. I was hitting myself for not switching to frost spec, it took a good 4-5min to down him solo with blood. I was getting nervous that it was taking so long and I was praying it wouldn't despawn. But when it was all said and done.. I had my brand new mount!

Pure luck, no farming! Good luck to everyone.

Interesting tidbit, while riding on his back and fighting him, npcscan alert went off for Terborus (live mob, not a corpse). Not sure if he spawned right after I engaged Aeonaxx or whether they were BOTH up at the same time.

Just got him at 10:30 p.m. on bronzebeard on my rogue. I'd been doing archaeology ALL freakin day trying to get my AQ bug mount, but to no avail. I decided when I was standing at the SW portals that I would take a break and swing through deepholm to see if he was there. Right after I ported in I flew towards the northeast broken pillar where he's been pictured and shot in videos linked earlier in the comments, sure enough NPCscan blew up and my heart started racing! I didnt even have poisons on, luckily i threw them on right before he turned aggro, but after I was already on him because I wasnt about to let him get away or be stolen! I'm pretty sure he was spawning RIGHT as i got there, because nobody saw him before me. The fight was super easy at 85 with 355 gearscore. I'm combat so with cleave and recup I didnt take any damage from the adds. Heart attack over, drake now mounted ^_^

note: i was worried killing spree might bug out or kick me off of him, so i didnt use it!

After circling around Deepholm for 2 days, I was lucky enough to spot and mount Aeonaxx this afternoon. Being a BM hunter, i was concerned about the hitbox glitch, but was grateful to see that I had no problem targeting and damaging him...however, I did fail at the encounter for a few reasons..so I would like to share a few quick tips. Please note that i was an 85 hunter with majority ZA/ZG epics and BM spec. I have since changed to a survival concentrated SV spec to remove my pet dependency. This should help give me the upper edge should I risk failing like a dime-store moron once again.

Before reading - i have one pending question:

IS THERE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING A REDUCED RESPAWN TIMER IN THE CASE OF A TRIED AND FAILED ATTEMPT - RESULTING IN AEONAXX DESPAWNING? (atm, I'm not taking any chances)

AEONAXX EMERGENCY SURVIVAL KIT

1) Although it's a long fight and Aeonaxx's welps are the only ones causing damage..if you ignore adds (which I unfortunately did in the heat of the moment), you CAN be overwhelmed. DPS-racing it to the finish line, I was outdone by about 1k hp. (yes, very sad face). - this is an important note for any class that can't self-heal.

2) Because the targeting glitch HAS been fixed, FACE FORWARD TOWARDS HIS HEAD to fight him. The welps spawn by his head...target them, and a few shots should take care of him. That makes the difference between scraping by at top dps to make it (and potentially failing), or killing him with full health.

3) Resist the temptation of closing the npcscan targeting button. Occasionally, you will un-target Aeonaxx..and the quickest/easiest way to re-target him is to simply hit the npcscan button and keep on dps'sing.

4) BRING HEALTH POTS. I realized too late that had I had a health pot on me I would currently be sitting pretty on my new mount...in case of emergency be prepared. Also, it doesn't hurt to have a few stam scrolls on you (I'm inscription so I now make sure to keep a healthy stash on me)

5) Press V to see health bars. This can help considerably in spotting incoming welps. You're moving quickly and you're excited..you want to be able to spot and kill them quickly.

6) MOUNT, BREATHE, FIGHT. I was so excited to be the one riding Aeonaxx that I made a very stupid mistake. One which I only caught when I was almost dead. I didn't have Aspect of the Hawk active, which all hunters know, can considerably reduce dps. Reason number 2 why I lost the fight. However, if you see him, jump on him IMMEDIATELY- because it's a race for anyone who's scan goes off. Once you've mounted him you have a few seconds to collect yourself before the encounter starts. Check your buffs, position yourself properly and unleash 18.5 cubic pounds of whoopass!

Got this on Silvermoon - US this morning @ 4:19 am. NPC Scan caught it as I was just leaving the temple entrance @ coord 48, 62. I flew past the spot and lost his target (he seems to move pretty fast, so I flew circles around the area and found him about stonecore entrance level making a loop around the entrance. I then proceeded to mount him and make an easy kill ignoring the adds, when he died I was still over 90% hp with no self-healing on a hunter. Also worth noting, I had no targeting or min.range issues which people reported earlier on and they appeared to have fixed.

I got him yesterday on Skullcrusher (Horde) around 7:30pm server time. He was at the North West spawn spot, flying in circles and I was pretty far away from him since I was farming for ore to prospect. As I gained closer, my heart pumped harder and I actually got to him before anyone else in Deepholm, which is extremely lucky. My tips are, fly in circles and try to kill two birds with one stone by farming for ore/herbs or whatever, but don't wait for the mount, let the mount come for you.

The initial fight wasn't that hard seeing as that im a iLvL 356 Goblin Shaman. The whelps don't really overwhelm you to be honest, it was one or two whelps at a time and my chain lightning pretty much one shotted them lol.

And yes, that's me freaking out in the guild chat, lol.

Anyways, You should no problem, the whelps seeing as I only had 6% HP taken away with 113kHP when Aeonaxx had 50% knocked off his. If you're just entering Cataclysm at level 81, it will be a challenge but if you fail, the rare mob despawns making its spawn timer reset. If you honestly don't know what you're doing, just don't even bother, otherwise you wasted a spawn, not to be a prick or anything.

Also, another small tip, if you ARE on it and have no problem killing it without getting hurt, I suggest you wait to do the killing blow on a flat surface, to avoid the mount getting stuck on a cliff on a weird angle (Making it unable to obtain).

OK FARMERS Tips :
1. do not be dis-couraged, dont give up It tirering yes, Countless hours night after nite , day after day. But you'll get there in the end. just think eye on the prize.

2. Run add-on called NPCScan, if u dont forget IT. or be VERY VERY LUCKY.

3. this could be a pattern, But this Mount aka rare Aoenaxx has been killed 2 weeks in a row now Around Mid-day 12pm to 1Pm . My kill was was just logged on sat there saying hi to friends & what not, que'd for TB & sure enough NPCScan Bing-butta-bom. went off I quickly Zoomed cam angle around to find him, seem flying around in circle At 48.9-58.9 right on red spawn marker npcscan shows at Qb. so off i went Jumped straight on him /gchat omg Aoenaxx, they said gogog, I said Im On him. any dps down fairly quick, only took around 3-4Mins max, tried the turn camera angle backwards thing, could not hit him. used behind normal veiw, dps'ing now. brought him down fairly easily, without alot of self damage, so Beath, in the encounter, take Ur time, dont pannic. Yes hands were shaking. but I was so excited. Anyways Killed him At 12.30'ish on 9th day 6th Monthc 2011. 12.30Pm nagrand serv. looted Mount, TB popped, took TB raid Join grp, forgot a screeny ; ( left TB, went back LF corpse. but could not recall were corpse fell in the kill. So no screen shot of the dead corpse, But i have posted screen shot of me on mount in org in front Of HORDE banner

Killed at approx. 07:45 (server time) 09/06/2011 Hellscream EU. Had been logging on and off for the last week in Deepholm. Very lucky as I noticed there were 3 other regular campers too.

Logged in and did a circuit of the spawn points. NPCscan went off as I approached the (43,47) point.

85 afflock in 359/372 gear. Easy kill with adds dropping to one shadowbolt - took around a minute or two I think. Suspect any 85 in highest level greens shouldn't have a problem - lower levels with increased chance to miss and lower dps on adds may have slight issues - ymmv.

Friday June 10 2011 8:42 am server time (pacific time) on chogall server..my npc scan just blared its horn just when i thought it would.

i have been on this zone deepholm almost every same hour like 2-3x a week just to get some mining done, some herbs, i dont like the other zones because there are so many competition. there are so many people who also camp him. u cant just do this. it will be boring as hell. its better if u have a gatherer toon there, the more time u spend on that zone the higher chance u get to see her. i saw her like, diamant i think. i wasnt at ALL trying to get this mount. this is my worst toon too..:(
i am on dps spec w/ greens because my main spec on this toon is healing so basically i was not prepared for her.
u might even say i probly almost died, i didnt read up on this but i saw it on youtube one time out of curiosity.
i have some tips..
1)its adivsable to have a gathering profession on ur toon so u wont be bored..cause if u are here more often the bigger chances of seeing her
2)be prepared, if your toon is a bit low geared you might really die. her hp is kinda big and she summons like 3 whelps. i am a paladin and on my greens gear plus i was really shaking nervous wreck lol..almost died and had to lay on hands.
3)u gotta hurry up to her she doesnt fly high. just in the middle. like measure that tower from top to bottom. she is on the middle part.
4) its best u have 280 flying sped cause God forbid someone else gets to her before u do !
5)i suggest u going to deepholm to do all ur gathering stuff.
6) dont afk. she flies kinda fast.
7)the moment u see her, come up to her and ride her. it was very confusing for me.

I'm so annoyed right now. I stumbled across this rare mob on my druid, and proceeded to mount it, but was unable to attack, so all I could do was to wait until the little adds killed me.

Does anybody know if the rare mob despawns after a failed attempt, because I was unable to re-find it, after I logged into my main character to have a go with something that might not bug out, like going from Flight Form to the dragons back.

Well as weird as it sounds, I was farming the Stonecore Vitreous Drake with 2 of my arena mates, and got it in the first run. Enough luck for freaking 6 months. We went out to reset the instance and my NPCscan went off with "Aeonaxx"...... My hands are still shaking.

Got both mounts in a matter of 15 minutes. Aeonaxx himself was easy to kill as an Armswarrior with 370-PvP Gear, lost like 10% HP from the little Drakes, but I guess the fight only took so long because I got nervous. :D

Found on Dunemaul at about 43, 47 flying counter clockwise - would be the easiest way to describe - at 2:15 server time. Height wasn't that high..about the middle of the temple. Fight is quick for me being a hunter with no pet available lol didn't have to hit the whelps once (only noticed 2 flying under). His body despawned very quickly..about 2-3 minutes after I looted the mount. Ended up landing at about 49, 37 where all the gyro things tunnel around.

Got this today! I was sooooooo happy when i logged on and saw him, i have been camping him for about 6 days. I just sat at the entrace to stonecore, he flys just a lil lower than that easily spotted from there. found about 3:00pm Mountain Standard time. Relm Agammagan, relm time 4:00pm. I was waiting on the spawn for Jadefang last night to get the pet and got bored and logged off and when I came back on I was still in Deepholm so I decided to check to see if he was up, he just happened to be and after 10 minutes of trying to find him (I had to revert to here to figure out how to find and get to him) I got the companion pet off of him.

I then decided I would wait and see if Aeonaxx would spawn and again I got bored and logged off and then I logged back on a few hours later and was still in Deepholm and sure enough Aeonaxx spawned about 5 minutes later and I got the mount.

This has to be the luckiest day I've had since getting the Time-Lost Proto-Drake and then the Green Proto-Drake a day later from my first Oracle egg.

All I can say is keep an eye out, you never know when you're going to get lucky.

Also, for anyone interested in whether the spawns share some sort of timer, I killed Jadefang at about 1:30PM CST and then found and killed Aeonaxx at about 4:20PM CST, so there isn't a 6 hour window or anything between there spawns.

I also found Aeonaxx halfway between The Temple of the Earth and Deathwing's Fall at about the Stonecore instance altitude; he had literally just spawned.

I got him today at around 12:45 PM on Blackwater Raiders (US) I was flying around completing quests when BAM! I flew right into (my NPC scan went off too, but since I literally flew right into him, all it did was startle me more ) I hit mount and began damaging him. It took about 10 minutes to get him down, and then after I did land, I landed right in the middle of a group of mobs. He was right at the entrance of the Temple, about halfway up the total height.

Now if only I could only just fly into TLPD without realizing it... :/

I spent a good month hanging around the temple doing nothing, waiting for the drake to show up. Yesterday, during my boredom, I also went hunting for (2 kills) and (1 kill). About 1/2 hour after killing Golgarok the 2nd time, Aeonaxx spawned, roughly 10:30am server time. Approximate position was 10:00ish from the Temple. Sorry, I was not about to let it have any flight path. Good luck to you!

Found him this morning 7.55am server time @ Thaurissan at coordinates 42.6, 46.8. Same as kmcmann went to Deepholm out of boredom, went south flew counterclockwise and found him in a min.

After farming Aeonaxx for about two weeks at different times of the day, I finally got him. I am on the Borean Tundra US Alliance server, and he spawned at 4:30 AM server time at the SW spawning point right over the ring of quartz crystals. I jumped on him and it took about 3 minutes or so to take him down. I am a level 85 blood DK, and my health bar never moved during the fight. I just went through my normal rotation of diseases, death strike, rune strike, and heart strike until I got him down. I threw in a blood boil every now and then for the whelps, but they really didn't do much. One tip...after mounting him, make sure to click on him before you attack. That might be why some people have said they couldn't attack him after jumping on his back. Anyway, the Phosphorescent Stone Drake is a beautiful mount, and I am excited to finally add it to my collection! Oh...and the mount I used to farm him with was the Time-Lost Proto Drake. Kind of appropriate, I think! Happy hunting!

I must say, this is an annoyingly long fight as a resto shaman, but there's no time limit and you're guaranteed a kill (unless you disconnect or something).

Got this mount 8 times now. May have been 10 except one time I accidentally closed WOW whilst in combat, second time I OOMed on my priest and died.
3 times I was a non-combatant party member. Twice my partner did the killing whilst I rendezvoused to the spot where the final blow would take place- I was still able to loot although I did no damage, although it must be noted that one time I was far away for the killing blow, unable to loot ( ticketed- GM denied BTW). The third time I was able to get more skillful and was able to land a single blow on Aeonaxx as it approached the Temple of the Earth AND be close-by for the killing blow. ( vid's in my profile)
If you are farming in a group its very important to have a killing blow stack point for non-combat players arranged in advance as GMs will deny ticket and its incredibly hard to hit if you are the third party. I recommend the Temple main entrance.

So after about to weeks of camping on and off in deepholm I finally got this sucker. realm time 12am: Mal'Ganis. After I got home from work I decided to diddle daddle in org for a bit then decided to camp myself next to quartzine basin. Watched you tube vides for about 40min then decided it was shower time. did a quick lap around the normal spawn points of Aeonaxx then parked myself, not but 30 sec later the npc scan went off. I mounted the dragon and it took about 2-3 min, maybe not even that...wasnt really keeping track of time because I was so excited =D. My suggestion to all campers is to camp consistently in one location, maybe do a fly around every once in a while if you feel its neccessary. Good luck to all the campers =)

After camping him 4 hrs weekdays(working adult) and 15hr(more or less) weekend for nearing 1 month, he finally spawned at 11:34 pm yesterday. My server is quite crowded so most often I will see 1-3 other ppl beside me camping him. Spawn location was right infront of the instance and it was flying lower to the right .
NPC Scan and silverdragon adds prompted me and my heart almost dropped out. I quickly flew to it after checking his location on my radar ( I wasnt at his spawn spot but at another location nearby) . Luckily the other campers werent around at that time(funny but its true).

Overall the fight was consider easy as I only see 2 whelps spawn before he was downed in less than 2 min.( drops nothing else but the mount and his corpse just disappear after u looted it. (unlike time-lost which stays for at least 3 min before despawning).

All this is worth the effort^^ its a beauty. For guys who are still after it. Do not give up. it will be yours one day.

If you are going to camp for this mount, make sure you know who your competing against to know if its even worth your time, I asked around and 6 others were goin for it and the chances of me getting it were way to slim. Hope this helps if you know when to do it or not.

Location: SW 2 over Quartzite Basin.

My second Aeonaxx, first one I farmed for 3 months almost non-stop on my 85 Paladin. This time I was just questing and not even looking for him when my NPCscan went off. I would say an 82 BM Hunter is just about the most disadvantaged class possible to be fighting the 85 elite; with having no heals or pet to help out. Still an easy fight, much more stressfull then my first time but easy. I just zerged the whelps as they spawned, sometimes before they even hit me. Only lost about 65% health when I killed her.

Got this mount on my main the other day. I have been camping the spawn points for about 8 months and missed it twice because of going afk. Just so happens one day i logged in and was still at one of the spawn points and there it was right on top of me. Very easy to kill. Good luck to all trying to obtain it as i am a mount collector and have 126 atm. Only other mount that made me more frustrated was the tlpd that i farmed for 2 years, funny thing is that the same thing happend with that mount, logged in and there it was. Wife hates my luck and wants me to play her toon on my comp as she thinks i have a lucky computer. Time, determination and a little luck pays off. Going for another reigns of posideus as i sold the first one to get the vial of the sands mount.

I have 0 reputation ("Hated") with Therazane. So as far as Aeonaxx spawning in different phases, my case is undeniable proof that this dragon does spawn in this specific phase, too. She flies rather fast, she doesn't fly slowly like the Time-Lost Proto-Drake; I know this for a fact because I got it too.

Also, I missed Aeonaxx only once on October 20th, 1:30 AM, when NPCScan went off, but my monitor had turned off...so by the time it finally lit up, she was nowhere to be found. I flew in circles around the temple and I found nobody flying on her, or her corpse.

I was camping in between the small floating rock and the white rocks below, a little below the stone core entrance level, everyday after server restarts (tuesday night on), from midnight to 8 AM server time.

I got Aeonaxx at 10:47 PM on the Feathermoon server. I camped at 42, 54 and faced the Stonecore entrance. Aeonaxx spawned at 47,58 and NPCscan went off. The fight was easy. I don't even think I lost any health as a level 85 DK. I camped on and off for about 5 days. I had WoW in window mode and was working on other things in the foreground. I kept enough of the WoW window visible so I could see if NPCscan threw up an alert. I wish everyone good luck!

I'm a pretty new player and saw someone with this mount outside of the auction house. After they told me the name, I decided to start camping for it. I came here for all of the info and was able to get it in just my second hour of camping.

I'm sorry I don't have the coordinates. He spawned almost right underneath me as I was circling the innermost ring around the Temple of earth. If you're looking at your map and the inner circle is a clock, he spawned at the deep crack at around 1 o'clock. He was a little higher than than the entrance to the temple and was moving counter clockwise in a N/NW direction. He spawned at 8:25PM server time.

This morning I saw what looked like Blood Seeker quickly despawn at the edge of my field of vision(a bit like when you fly out of range of someone on a mount), but NPC Scan didn't go off. As it wasn't triggered, I wasn't 100% sure if that was really it, or a hunter manually controlling a pet to mess with me, but I thought I'd check back in 5hours due to the whole shared spawn thing. After waiting a bit longer 5hours later, I had given up and went to get an iced coffee, but as soon as I was going outside of my room, NPC Scan went off! I doubled back but it was only "Blood Seeker", and I couldn't find it.

The reason for the post though is a question.. Are hunters able to trigger NPC Scan with a mirrored pet of Blood Seeker? Or does that ID number come into play? I know BS is known to have a short spawn duration(sometimes?), but it seems like you could really mess with campers if you drop a pet into range, then dismiss it. Is anyone able to clarify this?

I have him now..very strange as I had my headphones off for the tadaaaa. I literally ran into him at the very beginning of the blood trail heading north to the temple, 6:30p.m. server time. had no idea the drake had a drop other than the standard mace or weapon. I do not recall hitting any keys to mount him, as he was a big surprise to see this big fella. The fight was normal with nothing a mage cannot handle and I had no interaction with the spawns he made other than an occasional firebolt. After killing the drake, I went to see what junk I was going to get as the whole night was an enchanters dream, and this stone drake popped up. I met several people who said they had been camping him for months..one guy said well, at least a chick didn't get it..(I am a 57 year old grandmother..does that still make me a chick?)

Found Aeonaxx flying at 46, 45 almost directly above Earthcaller Torunscar. His height was maybe 50 yards roughly below that of the entrance of The Stonecore, apologies, but not sure how far that is off the ground. He was flying Northwest towards the pillar or shard of earth protruding from the ground directly in front of Earthcaller Torunscar.

This happened completely by random, only reason I found Aeonaxx was because I had NPCScan loaded so my numbers are an estimation, but should be pretty close to how long it took me to kill him.

After I mounted Aeonaxx a message popped up on my screen saying "Kill Aeonaxx before his whelps overwhelm you!"

Aeonaxx - 700,000+ HP
Moocade - 85,000 HP

I was on my 84 Feral Tauren Druid, Moocade, at the time and when I mounted him I was in swift flight form. I actually wasn't able to go into Cat Form for several seconds after we started flying around. I kept mashing my hot keys over and over and eventually was able to start attacking after about 10 to 15 seconds. The fight was fairly easy I must say, all together it probably lasted roughly 5 to 7 minutes. I never saw more than two whelps at a time and I took little damage. The damage I did take was easily recovered with Rejuvenation and Lifebloom, also I only went out of Cat Form twice to heal so that should show you how easy this is and the heals really weren't all that necessary. So as a post I read before suggested, maybe this is bugged? I never felt like I was in any real danger of losing the fight. Also, regarding the whelps, I never used any AOEs so I am not sure if they despawned or what happened to them. I just spammed Claw, Rake and Mangle over and over, when I got 5 combo points I used Rip, Savage Roar or Ferocious Bite.

I included a screenshot so anyone can see, if curious. It was very interesting because killing him dinged me to level 85!

If your using NPCscan and overlay like most rare npc hunters are, I found this npc at the closest spawn point to the entrance of the temple. I play on The Scryers server, tagged and killed him at 9:34am EST (not realm time). When I first saw him and the addons were going off, I did notice he wasnt flying in a certain direction, rather he was just flying in a circle at the spawn point. Hope this helps for those still hunting this mount, good luck to all. On a side note, I'm happy to say that not only am I the proud owner of this mount, but I also have the Time-Lost Drake on my mage alt.

I'm beginning to wonder if Aeonaxx despawns as he gets close to the ground. He starts up high at one of his spawn points, comes down and then slowly goes in his patrol at the spawn location until he gets to that certain height above the ground when he despawns.

Got this mount today, I don't know if this helps any but I was camping on the northwestern points and NPCscan went off with him out of sight, turns out he had spawned at the northeastern point. So it seems like you can camp the three northern spawn points or the three southern points. Spawned at around 9:48pm server (Undermine) time which was a bit more mins after the 36 hours of the last Aeonaxx spawn I believe.

FINALLY after looooooooooooooooooooooong nights of hardcore camping I've gotten him! It took sooooo long and I always was thinking of giving up, but once I got him it was so worth it. Some people are silly lucky but usually-- us hard core campers aren't. It's a bummer really. I saw him spawn so many times and I always missed him to someone just coming in to do some dailies or mining.

But, I'm so glad I finally got him, he's awesome! Fight is SUPER easy so don't worry about dying. If you DO die, you don't deserve him lol.

Lol funniest thing saw it circling right at the exit of the temple in deepholm after spending nearly 3 days straight trying to get TLPD. By the way as a disc priest with only a good pvp healing set (almost all cata) I did not think it would be a problem to take down, but I ran very low on mana with no real why of getting any back and therefore hp. So you might want to consider the 20 sec it takes to switch to a real dps spec. Also I tried this once before with an lvl 82 pally and it was a complete failure, just don't get cute or cocky with this fight.

I got lucky, when I didnt even know it was a rare.
He came up on NPC Scan and I found him just a bit east of the Temple of Earth on the server Akama, but I'm not sure what time it was. I got it on my character Moonbite, a level 84 Deathknight at the time.

You will never get this without NPC Scan, trust me. He's about halfway up in the air, but such a rare spawn. You should probably make sure you have some good health potions, because after a bit he can do some damage if you dont kill his whelplings.

If you are going to post a comment on how you found Aeonaxx. PLEASE post time and server. I am trying to gather as much information i can to track this beast. I have been out here 24/7 for 13 days straight. I never left Deepholm for a single thing. Also I am on 3 family accounts spread across the spawn point. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was watching some video's earlier and some of them showed Aeonaxx spawning on the west side of the temple where no spawn points are shown. So, If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I will be more than happy to get everything i can to help with find him.

Just got this mount yesterday. Ironically, I was looking on here for how to kill aeonaxx while camping to see how I would if I found him. Then I heard my NPC scan go off and quickly switched back to wow. Right before my eyes Aeonaxx had spawned.
I had been flying about at the height of the Stonecore Temple at coordinates 46.72, 58.01. This was around 7:45pm on a busy server. Aeonaxx appeared to be flying away from the temple southwest, but I couldn't tell you for sure because I hopped right on and started killing.
This was on my blood death knight so it made for an easy kill. Aside from the fact that I had read to NOT ignore the young drakes that fly around you, I did it anyway, but for some reason they never did any damage to me at all. I ignored them and attacked Aeonaxx. I started to notice that some of my melee attacks did little to no damage so it made the fight a little longer. Plus Aeonaxx was stacked with 764k health. It took about 15 minutes, ending with me at full health and finally my parachute deployed and I received my mount. I am very satisfied with this mount. It is a lot more visually stunning in-game than in the screenshots.

Day 2 my scanner goes off, Aeonaxx spawns directly over my head in the Quartzite Basin and flies west. Unfortunately I was too low and slow and someone else got to him first. I think a good spot to camp is just south of the floating rock with Haethan Kaul flying at the same height, so when he spawns you can fly directly at him. Hope this helps.

Well...the raid was doing a late night alt dragon soul run..figured i'd go on my main since I have yet to raid on this toon this week. Just got out and decided to go to Deepholm. "Ahh..well.. i'll just go into the temple.. well nevermind i'll fly the spawn points.." So I do... and to my surprise.. AEONAXX! Started shaking.. was freaking out in mumble to my guild.. Ignored the whelps since I am a shadow priest so that self heal was great. Downed him in probably..1 minute.. Still shaking.. I was tired but.. not so much now :)

wow lol. I was questing in deepholm on my 82 warrior, and i see this dragon in the sky. Seeing as it had a mount button on it, i flew up to check it out. I clicked on it, not knowing it would make me fight it. It was easy though, so after I had killed it, I decided to loot it. Then i see this mount. Hey guys. I have a question about the script. I have searched to see if it's been covered, but I see one other similar question, with no answer.

It gives me a click able link like if it was linked to me from chat.

Could anyone explain how it works, Spawned, and un-spawned?

I got this mount today after someone announced him in trade chat. Figuring it was probably a troll, but I had nothing to lose, I popped a Potion of Deepholm and quickly zipped over all the NPCScan Overlays and found him in the northwestern-most one. Aeonaxx was very low to the ground; I was able to target but was looking up high so it took me a while to notice him well below me. I mounted and simply nuked him to pieces as a demo lock.

This was around noon server time on Sen'Jin.

Just got this drake, by flying into deepholm , my NPC Scan alarm went off, i flew to him and did the epic battle in which i could use all my ranged attacks like Arcane shot quite lucky really.

I'm a level 85 hunter with item level 306.

The little Drakes don't hit hard really, they are a one hit kill, just make sure you get rid of them.

From what I've gathered of info I can tell you this:
the ''its spawntime is 6-24 hours''-theory is a lie.
1. Aeonaxx spawns minimum once per week and is ''reset'' after the weekly maintenance on servers. That means it will be best to camp it after the maintenance and further on until it is killed.
2. If Aeonaxx should spawn more than 1 timer per week then it is a question about chance/luck. From my experience either Aeonaxx spawns the 2. time(or more which is highly unlikely) or Xariona/the blood seeker bat spawn.

is there a definate spawn time on this or is it random? ive heard like every possible answer in the book. ive heard that its 4-22 hrs, 6-24 hrs, ive heard its 32 hrs exactly and ive heard once a week... so 6-24 hrs is the most common answer ive gotten but someone who said he farmed over 1000 hrs over 47 days to get it said that its total bull&*!@ and the spawn is 2days to a week... so this is like the most confused ive ever been in wow.

Taking info from this thread and various other thread relating to this mob the most common thought is that the spawn is anywhere between 6-22 hours. I believe this is the case also.

The thought of blood bat being a place holder for this mob and the time table got kind of shot to hell for me last night. I've been coming home from work at 5pm est and staying up till 3-4am est camping this mob. I've been doing this since monday, I haven't seen a single spawn. Last night I saw bloodbat spawn and was like ok, going off the information gathered the mob won't pop for at least 6~ hours. This was at 10:32 est. I decided I'd call it an early night.

Logged in this morning took a lap around before I went to work and nothing. A guild member of mine was on last night questing in deepholm and said the dragon popped at 1am est. Thats 2 1/2 hours after bloodbat the supposed placeholder popped. The one night I go to bed early the damn thing pops. He's only lvl 80 said he knew he couldn't kill it so he just continued questing. Checked on it 10 minutes later and it was still there. Finally a DK came, claimed and killed it.

Due to this information I don't think the 6-22 hours spawn timer of the dragon or it's placeholder is a correct assumption.

The one lesson I have learned is to never go to bed early again lol.

/laughs at all the people who has to camp for a week to get this. i just wander into deepholm and he flies in front of me. now they have to wait another week again.

Saw this drake and just had to have it. Started looking yesterday evening, 9:30pm server time, saw many others flying around searching as well. Knew it would be a race if I saw him. No luck the prior day, so called it a nite.

Next day I camped for a bit waiting, but after about two-hours got tired of just sitting around so decided to start questing. Sure enough, NPC_ goes off at 6:00 am server time and the drake was almost right in front of me; around entrance to Temple of Earth. Stoked.

Regarding capture. I'm an SV hunter, upon jumping on just targeted and started shooting. Had to take down two child drakes, even though they didn't attack me, but they flew just in front of me. A few explosive shots, two black arrows, serpent sting and cobra shots took him down in less than 5-minutes. I didn't turn to face rear like others posted, just targeted and started spamming arrows.

I just got mine!

At around 20:40 I got into Deepholm and my _Npcscan went off.
I was so happy :D since my server is dead I was the only one around to get it :)

I am a retribution paladin and got him down within a minute, i never dropped below 95% health (without healing),
the fight is extremely easy!

Just picked it up on Gundrak server. NPC scan pinged it at exactly 20:45:05 13/5/2012.

I was flying around to the door of the temple when it went off, did a sweep around the temple to look for it, found him about 43, 47 area. he was pathing to the west when I got onto him at 20:45:47

Playing on an 85 ret paly in mixed S10 & S11 all PVP gear and demolished him quickly, had no worries about failing and had no signal of being over whelmed. seemed like i only got 2-3 adds.

Didn't know he dropped amount, so was pleasant surprise, Goes well with the TLPD everyone on my server wine's about me having & clocked up my 100 mount acheiv too.

Heaviest hit was 2.3k against me so dying wasn't a worry at all.

Didnt get kill time, was in org when decided to take SS's and gold spammers scrolled the log too far.

Death took place somewhere around Quartz Basin / Shuddering Spires. I did go back to find exact point but corpse had gone. I'm certain it was in this area

I feel rather undeserving of my mount, being as though I got NPC Scan a whopping 2 days ago, and last night I went into Deepholm for the first time on my Blood Elf Rogue and BOOM. Aeonaxx got scanned. So I found him flying in his normal pattern a little northwest of the center, and downed him rather easily at level 83. Sometimes you just get lucky, I suppose. (:

Just got it on my hunter Sildaylia on Gurubashi @ 3:19pm was sitting in front of the dungeon entrance when my npc scanner went off. Hopped on, it took off and I killed it before the adds spawned. I'm apparently on some sort of a run because since Saturday I've been able to get Anzu from Sethekk, The polar bear from the quest drop in Northrend, The Time-Lost proto drake, and now this one. Blizzard is giving me some birthday love. <3 Happy Hunting!

I found him at 43.3,46.2. He was friendly and flying at roughly "entrance-to-stone-core-level". He was flying north west at 1:15AM EST (11:32 pm server) on a Tuesday morning .

I had to mount him via right clicking and kill him before he "overwhelmed me" As he flies around he spawns adds that shoot fireballs at you. They are pretty weak. I killed him on a balance druid so I do not know melee hit boxes.

Got mine today. Found Aeonaxx just by the Temple entrance, closer than the circle for Xariona in npcscan, then lost touch as I got focused on killing the thing, ended up in the crimson expanse. Reins dropped. His last 40k hp he started skyrocketing, but that may just have been a coincidence.

Hope this info means something.

Killed today. NPCscan popped up just as I left the Temple and he was flying west. I flew straight into him and clicked to mount so I didn't notice his relative flight speed.

As others have said, mounted him and nuked. Boomkin so ranged attacks. No bugged hitbox, he never even dodged.

My very first rare spawn in WoW after a year and a half of playing. Happy! :)

Just killed this now 23:36 realm time on 11/07/12. Been camping on and off for just over a week now (leaving NPCScan on in the background). I parked myself between the two southernmost spawn spots and he just spawned right in front of me. Couldn't quite believe it at first!

As a frost DK with 395 ilvl the fight was over within 30 seconds. Flew up to him, right clicked to mount and he died just over the area marked 'Needlerock Slag'. I didn't even see any of the smaller drakes appear that people have mentioned, so I wouldn't worry about the fight itself. Server is Frostmane - EU.

Just got him yesterday and was VERY surprised to see the mount.

I had no idea and wasn't even farming him, though I know I soon would be since I am a mount fanatic. Anywho, I just finished the Therazane dailies and took their portal back to the center (Temple of Earth). Upon porting, NPC_Scan screamed about this rare being near by. I went out looking for him and there he was just like the Aeonaxx map shows. If you farm rares, for mounts or achievement purposes, get NPC_Scan, it's free and a lifesaver!

If you look at the Aeonaxx map, it shows his potential spots to spawn. Each cluster of 3 small locations is actually one spawn point, meaning once he spawns, he just flies in a circle at that location. I know he stays there because I tried to eject from my mount and tag him but got invalid target. I then noticed there was the "Mount me" arrow when you mouse over him. This was fun, and again, unexpected.

When you mount him he takes off, leaving his spawn area. For me he flew west quite a ways before I downed him. Adds (Whelps) spawn and do damage to you while you take him out. There is a message that says something like "Kill Aeonaxx before the whelps overwhelm you", or something like that. I'm a 370'ish ilvl mage and think I only took 2% damage the entire time before I killed him.

I found him at 5:02am server time at the Northeast coordinates on the above map (42.6 46.8). Very easy to spot and flies about mid level from floor to ceiling I'd say. I'm stoked. Finally some good luck, and trust me I'm not bragging. I've been playing wow since 2008 and can promise that you're a luckier mount hunter than I. About 200 Vortex Pin runs, nothing. Took about 1,000 runs to get the Utgarde Pinnacle mount, and all the others I have also took away a part of my life (and added yet more gray hair). Hell, I still don't have Rivendare's Deathcharger, despite my um'teenth trillion attempt! What I'm basically saying is get NPC_Scan and play your game. Don't waste it just farming. Worst is when you finally do find it and someone else beats you by 1 sec. Having a stroke or heart attack over wow just isn't worth it ;)

I must say I was extremly lucky person because I didn't farm this mount at all..This morning I logged on and decided after long time just to check Deepholm and to check if eventually Aeonaxx has spawned..I was flying throught his path and npcscan shouted that Aeonaxx is here..I found him on location 43.47 at Jagged Wasters...I mounted him up and started dpsing him..He was flying up to Nedlerock Chasm where I killed him :)

Got Aeonaxx today on my lvl 85 (ilvl 392 gear) hunter surv. easy kill....0630 server time Moon Guard Server.....woot! That is after 1.5 yrs of camping this mount! huge hugs :)

Ok, after weeks of camping this rare spawn I finally got it and the mount. I lost Aeonaxx three times to other campers, two times of which I was actually there when NPCScan went off. It seems that every time Aeonaxx either spawned right outside the entrance to the Temple or outside of the entrance to the Stonecore; I have never seen him spawn elsewhere. This time, when I got him, I was running LFR and had been camping him before my queue for LFR popped; my LFR group was super fail and I ended up leaving bc they couldn't down Ultraxion. Not 30 seconds after my return to the Stonecore my NPCScan went off and it was Aeonaxx! Never have I been so glad to leave an LFR or dungeon! I literally flew around in desperation for a minute, trying to find him, luckily for me, nobody else seemed to be around, and after seeing his shadow on the ground I was able to locate and mount him, after which it was a fairly straightforward affair to kill him (he has around 700k health, and with a 397 ilvl it took me a very short time to down him, and claim my reins!) I guess the moral of the story is that it's part persistence and part luck, I got lucky this time but there were other times I camped for hours and lost him to other campers. As I said, the best places to camp seem to be either outside the entrance to the Temple or the Stonecore. Also, he seems to fly in a clockwise manner around the temple, so in my experience it's a good idea to camp at the spawn point outside the entrance to the temple, because even if he spawns outside of the Stonecore your NPCScan will still go off. Best of luck to those of you hunting him!

~3:40 AM server time spawn (zone was completely devoid of other players)

Left the server on most of my other toons long ago, decided to level my 82 druid that was still on the server to 85.

Was at like 1.5% from level 83, decided to kill a few rockflayers near quartzite basin. Aeonaxx spawned as I was flying toward the temple from quartzite. Looking at the NPC page for Aeonaxx, it was the bottom-left spawn point. The fight has been significantly retuned, I didn't drop below 97% as a level 82 cat in mostly ICC gear. No epic flying either, and no gold on that server = must-xfer.

I'm glad mounts will be account-wide in MOP, I honestly had neglected the druid because it has the HH mount whereas my main does not.

Immature 'logic' I know. Never could shake the disdain though :(

I got my reins this morning 4am server time on Stonemaul. Ported to Deepholm from SW and NPC Scan immediately dinged. I did not have to camp him, though I did spend a few minutes here and there when I was bored hoping he would appear. He was flying just north-west of the main center temple, almost in line heading towards Therazane. Was easy to hop on him, took a minute to kill him, parachuted down and looted. So, for what it is worth, he popped up @ 4am server on a Monday. Good luck to those still hunting him!

Grabbed this guy on August 4th at around 11:15 server time.

I have been camping him since December of 2011. I missed his spawn twice since then, which was unfortunate.

My only camp spot was the Quartzite Basin. He spawned there, and flew up roughly to the height of the top of the entrance to the portal area in Deepholm (y'know, where you can go to Stormwind and such). He started flying in a counter clockwise path, flying fairly slowly (slow enough for a 310% flight speed to catch him, at least).

I immediately flew towards him, and it gave me the green arrow to hop on, like the Vial of the Sands mount and such. He was a friendly target until that point. I'm a hunter, but it let me use my arrows on him and not just melee attacks, which was awesome! Use your biggest buffs in the beginning. The adds that attack you are very strong, so try to get some healing buffs put on you (if your friends are nice like my fiance was to me, haha). I don't remember how much health he had on him, but it was enough to last about five to ten minutes for a Beast Mastery hunter. When I got him down and dead, the adds still kept attacking so make sure you kill them, or you'll lose your mount!

The only advice I can give is to be diligent about it. Yeah, I missed him twice, but I didn't let it get me down. Just gave me more of a motivation to get him even more. ;)
