I'm not exactly sure why any item with +AGI and a passive bonus to critical strike rating, would have an on-use +500 Intellect bonus...

Given that beta was just released recently, this might just be a typo on the tooltip or something. Can't think of a caster who would benefit from +197 AGI. Since Mana is going away for Hunters, only Ret Pallies and Enhance Shammies would actually benefit (slightly) from SP/Mana buffs while in combat; the trinket has such a huge amount of AGI, it would only really be useful to a "physical" dps class/spec).

All of this goes without saying that in Cata, we are certainly going to see a lot of changes. It could be that given our current format, I just can't wrap my mind around a +AGI/Crit Trinket being useful with on-use +INT buff.

Anyone have any suggestions as to why this trinket is itemized so?

Given the fact that an earlier entry in the JC trinket array is Figurine - Twilight Serpent, which was certainly a caster trinket, it makes sense that this is likely a typo and is probably intended to be +197 INT with the INT proc

The quest giving this as a reward, Broken Serpent Figurine (level 80, 2 Inferno Ruby, 8 Elementium Bar required to complete) dropped while grinding the JC daily Elemental Goo, from a Muddied Water Elemental in Twilight Highlands.

I guess they have changed the stats from comments previously as it is as shown above i.e.

Use: Increases your spell power by 1425 for 20 sec. (2 Min Cooldown)

These are level 84 NPC which take some work to kill as a level 80 Arcane mage. Quite doable to spam Arcane Blast but have to eat between each. I also got a BoP JC design.

This is incredibly good trinket, especially since it can be acquired as fast as level 81. Closest comparision would be Withing Hourglass (H) from heroic BRC.

The mats listed are incorrect. It requires 8 elementium bars and two inferno rubies. Just got mine today while killing mobs for a quest in Deepholm

Does the on use effect trigger 20 second cooldown on Engineering tinker enchant on hands(and vice versa)?

Currently this trinket provides the following stats.
Passive: 0.46% critical strike, 317.2 spell power and 4778.5 mana.
On use: 20 sec / 120 sec * 1425 spell power = 237.5 spell power worth

Combination of Intellect and on use spell power makes this trinket as good (if not better) as Witching Hourglass and Theralion's Mirror depending on how good or bad haste and mastery is for your class.

It's also one of the best fire mage trinkets.

Dropped for me in the Northeastern part of the map of Deepholm while questing on my level 83 mage. It dropped off of one of the twilight cultist.

was fairly cheap to make considering it's quality. On my realm..
Elementium bar is 15 gold each
Inferno Ruby 100 gold each

So, would I be better off keeping this trinket, or replacing it with Darkmoon Card: Volcano. My other trinket currently is Vibrant Alchemists Stone. Just hit 85 about 15 minutes ago, so trying to figure which combo would be the best of the three.

In 4.0.6 with the buff to mastery, rawr now shows Volcano to be BiS with Jeweled serpent being second for fire mages

fyi, i got both +285 trinks from a flying ship in deepholm. only killed 10-15 mobs in total so it took me less than 5 mins.
( i got the mats for the first trink, did the quest, and than i flew back for the second trink/quest)

Picked up both this and the Spirit equivalent whilst farming ZA/ZG heroics.

Notably had to roll on the item that grants you the quest, there were no other JCs in either occasions they dropped.

Once you disenchant, sell, or destroy this trinket you will NOT be able to farm for another one. I looted the quest right after I dinged 81 on my main. After using it for a couple of levels I found something with a higher item level and seemed to be an upgrade so I disenchanted it for mats. That being months ago I found that it is labeled BiS for Arcane mages at the moment so I opened a ticket to see if I could get mine back (I have read people have done this and were able to get it recovered). The GM responded in less than 10 minutes (The fastest a GM has EVER gotten back with me) and said sadly the item was destroyed so long ago that it has been purged from my character. :(

TLDR; If you got rid of the trinket and want it back, make a ticket asap! You might not have much time left to get it back!
