It has no level requirement, just an item level of 20.

Since shadowfang keep requires level 10 to enter, if you can organize it you could get this pet at level 10.

FYI .....I was in the Dalaran Sewers and the "ahem" Rat and 4 ( I assume Teenage)Turtles got eaten by Toxic Wasteling.Funny stuff to see those guys killed by the "Ooze".

I did him already alot of times and saw him also once off course i didn't win the companion. Too bad blizz makes so low droprate on fun items and the droprate for this item can't be 25% it is much lower.

Toxic wasteling will eat ALL critters.
Yes, including friendly critters, like the ninja turtles in Dalaran Sewers.

Edit: Funny how this got downrated, when nobody else actually clearly stated that the pet will eat even friendly creatures.

When full sized, and with a Papa Hummel's the wasteling is big enough to 'nom nom nom' a sitting Blood Elf. If only it actually did NOM player characters!

Sadly, after experimenting, it looks like the Wasteling will not devour the Baby Bunnies spawned from a pair of Spring Rabbits, or the Spring Rabbit/Plump Turkey pairing

By far the most efficient of critter murdering companion pets. It just devours and devours. I heart you, you lovable little ball of toxic waste.

Edit: And after playing with it a bit.. It's a Frogger pet. You know, from Naxx? It feels like I'm Froggering these critters to death.

When i got this pet i was told when ever it gets around a critter he eats it and gets bigger leaveing no body.He olny eats the critter 3-4 times till he gets to his full size,he makes sludge noise's and gets bigger then alot of mini pets.

My blood DK both loves and hates this pet.Its a great pet because its awesome looking has a really cool idle animation and is rare(i think 100 or so people on my server have it).Sadly, i cannot take this pet into raids and dungeons for he likes to eat my poor little bloodworms.So much for "non-combat" when he one shots my level 80 guardians.

should take this guy to the snake room in the old zg area if ur gonna go afk for a while, itll kill the critters for u and they respawn really FAST. great for getting ur guild the armadillo pup

Since cata it would appear he will not grow as big as he used to anymore, i had him before and he got bigger then he did now.

Sat in ZG watching the little fellow. Every 10 seconds (pretty much exactly) he ate a critter. 6 a minute and therefore 360 an hour assuming I don't get killed while AFK or DCd through inactivity.

TBH though, a couple of minutes of AoE gives the same results.

I just found out today that my Toxic Wasteling really likes the taste of Fuzz in Breanni's shop in Dalaran... Although Fuzz is green and you cant kill him. Not sure if it counts toward the Critter achv, since we already had both.

My Guide for getting this in the "Love in the Air" event of 2011.

1st Make sure you finish the pre quests
Alliance: A goblin near in Trade Quarter starts this.
Horde: Talk to Detective Snap Snagglebolt in the vally of honor.

2. Queue up for defeating the Shadowfang Keep bosses. By talking to the Quest giver Goblin. Need to be lvl 84 at least.

3. Once you kill the bosses you receive a heart shaped package. Open it sometimes it may contain your new Oozing pet or even a Love Rocket!

Glacier Penguin in Icecrown are a good start.

Fun place to bring your new disembodied stomach: The Crazy Cat Lady in Elwynn Forest. Lots of kitties all around her house, plus a couple of tasty cows too. Won't eat the four cats inside her house though, which is probably a good thing, since she's wielding a bloodied ax.

It dropped for me today. I have ran the dungeon each day since the beginning of Love is in the Air, and today was the first time the box you get had the end had anything in it apart from the Love Tokens. My one box had the tokens, (of course), The Toxic Wasteling, a flower that goes in your hair, and a gas mask.

The wowhead page says that it has a 34% chance of dropping from Heart-Shaped Box which is defintely incorrect.
I have done the dungeon every single day since the start of Love is in the air event on 4 chars daily and have'nt yet got even a single drop. Thats nearly 40 Heart-Shaped Box opened this season so my guess is its drop rate is something like 1% or so.

Can anybody please confirm? This event is going to end tommorow and i really want this pet, atleast on my main char.

I don't think the 34% drop rate can be right. I have done the encounter 13 times this year. So far I have 3 soulbound, useless and untransmogrifiable gas masks and a bunch of love tokens (seems like about 5-10 per box) and thats it. Sigh. Tomorrow is my last attempt this year. I WANT THIS PET!

To my disappointment, I brought out my wasteling during Noblegarden because I want it to eat all the baby bunnies critter that spawned with your pet bunny mating with another player's bunny.

He doesn't eat them!

I just got mine recently and I thought it was cute how small it was, then next thing I know in a dungeon, its getting bigger each time I look away. Makes me love it even more with that cool detail.
